Did anyone look at my picture of the day gecko? Seriously...

is quite clearly what Tsutaja's based on. It's a Phelsuma gecko and I'm pretty sure they're popular pets in Japan in the same way horned frogs are. The Japanese like the brightly-coloured and unusual herptile species.
Nope. I say knight anole. Check the yellow stripes and narrow snout.

Dammit! I was hoping for a polar bear Water starter. That would have been epic!! I think another bear would have been cool. Regardless, the starters look interesting. I'm looking forward to evolutions.

Vine snake's plausible I guess.

But my main problem with this whole "Grass Snake" thing is, well... he's got arms and legs.
It does have appendages, but they are very underdeveloped and even appear to be small leaf sprouts. IIRC there are some snakes in existence that do have very small stubs which are thought to be limbs.

My theory on this Pokemon is that as it evolves, it loses the appendages and becomes more serpentine. Its connection to ivy would complement a serpent Pokemon well. Think a green Milotic entwined with ivy vines.

And I do agree on the little piggy evolving into a boar, which would be distinctly different from Mamoswine and Grumpig. I imagine being more athletic, violent, and temperamental than the other swine, kind of like a Fire-type boar Tauros.

No idea on the little sea otter. He'll probably just turn into a larger otter. It probably won't gain the Rock type, but will get a lot of Rock moves, as otters use rocks as tools to smash clams. (Btw, that's why it has a shell on its chest. Otters float on their backs in the water and crush clams on their bellies)

Well, according to Serebii, the translated scan calls him the "Grass Snake Pokemon". Then again, the Mudkip line are all called "Mud Fish", when it's obvious what they're really based on are neotenic salamanders like Axolotls and Mudpuppies. GameFreak was just trying to dumb it down for the five year olds. Maybe they're doing the same thing here.

I'm pissed now...I freakin' used to have an anole as a pet! Why did I not notice that everything about Tsutaja screams anole? The green back, the pale belly, the pointed snout...he's even sticking his head upward like he's about to extend his dewlap! Good job, you.

For White, I would like to see something that looks like Magnaangemon (lol, if you don't know who he is this is him ) with a cool typing such as Steel/Psychic Levitate with like tankish offensive base stats.
Thanks, but I prefer my Pokemon without swords and armor. If you really want a tankish Steel/Psychic with Levitate, use Magnet Rise on Metagross. Personally, I'm voting for a Bug type legendary, since we haven't had one yet and Bug is an awesome attacking type in Ubers thanks to all the Psychics and Darkrais running around.

Besides the starters (I don't really know what to think of them, I mean, they sort of look stupid, but then again, its their first forms so I can't really diss them), the game BETTER have some cool legendaries or ubers. I am really sick of all the fucking flying type, psychic type (although, some types with psychic are pretty good, steel psychic for instance), and dragon type stuff that they make up. I mean, come on, ENOUGH ALREADY!!! For White, I would like to see something that looks like Magnaangemon (lol, if you don't know who he is this is him ) with a cool typing such as Steel/Psychic Levitate with like tankish offensive base stats. For Black, I would like to see something that is based on a devil (no, Giratina does not count, that is the antithesis of Space and Time) that is Dark type and truely an evil pokemon. To see them actually fight in the games would be SOOOO awesome.

Otherwise, the actual graphics of the games don't really look that special, I mean, it just looks like DPPt gone a little more 3D. I wanted something like Stadium with like adventures and shit for the DS, not this.

I don't know about the games. If they have deep stories and awesome legendaries, I'll take them. Otherwise, I might as well fuck it.

I can't find my last post. What are you people writing that every other page is marked either adult/mature or pornography and I can't access it. I still like the Grass type, but I don't see a snake. I see legs. Snakes don't normally have legs. If they make it evolve and lose the legs at the same time... that would be weird. I'm still hoping for Grass/Electric. However, if it is a snake than... I'll leave everyone else to wonder what snake has meant in pokemon up until now.

Trickery sounds like a cool move, but bad name. We have trick, but we don't have a move based entirely on opponent's stats.

Claw Sharpen sounds like Sharpen. Only Sharpen is Atk+2 so adding the Claw part decreases the Atk to +1, but trades it in for +1Acc. Looks like a new claw based pokemon is coming if that spot isn't already taken by Zoruark. If Claw Sharpen is not for Zoruark, I'm betting they made Zangoose evolve... sadly. Also, some sort of claw move with low accuracy is likely to be introduced so Claw Sharpen can supplement it.

I hope Zoruark is possible to get without the event pokemon because I don't know if in the future I will be able to get them.

Zoruark's ability sounds interesting. Maybe abilities on demand that act like a 5th move will be possible in Gen V. Otherwise, how could an ability that is similar to Transform work?

I'm of the opinion that the clown thing will evolve into a polar bear so terrifying it makes up for its prevo looking doss.
This is the first thing I thought/hoped of first too :D

About Zoroark, I guess it's the first confirmed event since you have to attend an event to get it? Does this make it the first event that can evolve by normal means? (Hopefully..) Was it's typing ever leaked? I guess Dark/Fighting? It really doesn't look that amazing if it's supposed to be an event/legendary and if they just give it normal stats they may as well make the entire Pokédex event only. The first announced Pokémon of Gen 5 is event only.. Awesome

Lucalibur, thanks for fixing my mistake and you are fast. Zoruark is going to be like Lucario. They both appeared in movies without being Uber or legendary themselves and will, hopefully, appear through an in-game event.

And, TBH, Lucario and Zoruark look a lot alike to me.

I just thought of something wonderful.

EARTHBOUND!

What if they take Pokemon down the route towards an Earthbound style story/world. The Bigger cities, the older protaganists. It all makes a wierd sort of sense.

My hope for the Fire starter, for once, is a bulky, and unique typing. I would be tempted to say the pig could be part Dragon, but I don't believe GF will allow a starter to be part Dragon type.

its because i got no life so i stay in the control pannel updating each 20 seconds to see if someone said anything in one of the threads i subed, and if possible, correct anything ASAP.

This is unsettling for me. I've gone with the Water-type starter in every Pokemon game I've played—all the way back to my copy of Red—but I just can't get behind Mijimaru's design. Just going off these scans, I'd probably take Pokabu (and possibly nickname it "Bacon" just for fun) over the other two. Ultimately, though, it'll depend on what other information we get about these Pokemon and also the Gym order—if the first Gym is Rock-type again, I'll likely go with one of the two starters that's effective against it.

Starters aside, the only real problem I have with the trainer designs is the spiky pockets (at least, I think that's what those are supposed to be) hanging out of the female's shorts. Other than that, she looks great, and the guy doesn't look half bad, either. Maybe a bit of a haircut, but that's pretty minor. I'm thrilled that they're going with characters that look like they're ready to be going out on their own (seriously, whose idea was it to send ten-year-olds on a cross-country biology project?), and the urban environments look pretty sweet too.

Overall, at this point, very excited to see what's next down the pipe for the Pokemon series.

I'm going to be the first to call it right here. The new region is based not on a region in Japan, but in the United States, maybe California. Look at some of the pictures: you've got big cities, what appear to be slums, and the characters just look American what with their jeans, tiny shorts, long hair, and baseball caps.

EDIT: even an old western-looking city.

Not sure why people are being so nitpicky about the exact animal that the grass starter is...its based off a snake, it doesn't have to be exactly like one. Just like Spoink is based off a pig, Mudkip a fish, etc.

That said, the grass starter reminds me too much of Treecko for me to consider it entirely unique. Hopefully it'll differentiate itself as it evolves. As far as type...I could see it being pure grass, or hopefully something like Grass/Dark. Snakes are pretty sinister, so it could fit. We'll see.

The pig is...strange to say the least. I could see Fire/Dark because of its black coloration, but let's not rule out the possibility of Fire/Electric. Yellow and black are featured on many electric types (think Electabuzz, Zapdos), and it would allow GF to run the whole "secondary type effective against the starter that it should be weak against."

The otter is disappointing, to say the least. It vaguely reminds me of Piplup, and Buizel parallels are obvious. I could see it become reasonably bulky, but more focused on the offenses at it evolves and becomes more streamlined. Water/Ice seems obvious enough, but Empoleon turned heads when its type combo was revealed. We'll find out soon enough I guess.

What really interests me is Zoroark's Illusion ability. It is stated that it is catchable when it reverts to its original form, which implies that the transformations are temporary (and triggered by something). Maybe it gains the type of the opponent that switches in?

Haha agreed. Just look at the sweet flow on that male trainer and tell me he's not from Cali. Maybe having a Fire pig as a starter is a comment on our pork-heavy diet. I wouldn't put it past those sneaky Japs. :naughty:

everytime somone said a pokemongame's female character was hot i thought he was messed up in the head. but i guess this one is ok. she looks like allot of girls in my school.
Abouth the starters; the water starter looks like a snowman and I bet the moment it comes into anime someone is gona mistake it for icecream.
fire starter really dissapoints me but im guessing its gonna be a good defensive fire type. Im very interested in the grass starter I might actually use a grass starter in a pokemon game now.

The grass starter needs a strong secondary offensive STAB like Dragon or Fighting, as grass just has poor coverage on its own. I don't know whether a defensive fire type will ever work, though.

Do we know when we'll get more information? Will we need for next month for the next CoroCoro?
Also, I think GF should make another shark pokemon, Sharpedo is rubbish

Um, we got Heatran, which is a defensive fire type, but its part steel, so go figure.

well im just speculating seeing as its a pig pokemon, kinda looks like tortwig and might be a fire mamoswine or something and yeah i cant really see his last evo being a fast offensive pokemon but who knows lol.

I dunno, I'm kind of liking the starters.

The grass one is definitely a pimp. You can tell by that swagger and the slight grin. I'd love to see it evolve into a Komodo Dragon-like thing. Maybe a Dragon/Grass type. That'd be pretty sick.

The water one is alright. It looks like it'll turn into a mix between a Floatzel and Walrein...a really chubby otter. I dunno what you'd be able to do with it. Maybe like a Water/Ice typed Snorlax or something.

The fire one is fucking adorable. I really hope it turns into a warthog. It'll probably end up being just a Fire type, since I can't see what they'd do with it...I mean, maybe Fire/Dark, but I can't see it just from the starter, and every other possibility is either overdone or not very plausible. Fire/Steel would be interesting, though. Maybe Fire/Water (The warthog goes swimming for teh lulz).

meh, I think the grass guy is totally a snake, look at how slithery his design is, it even looks like an 'S'. I can see him evolving into a grass/flying snake maaybe

Edit: I'm thinkin a rather nerfed Shaymin-S stat-wise, and y'know, no seed flare.
