Well, it's never been an issue because Pikachu doesn't naturally boost and nobody uses it anyway. That doesn't mean it can't happen. Light Ball is basically an SpA analog of Thick Club, so I wouldn't be surprised if it could happen, but Bulbapedia doesn't make mention of the rollover glitch for Light Ball where it does for Thick Club.

Growth passing to a Pikachu is more "practical" than most of the other glitches/unique cases worth considering imo (Splash Snorlax?).

I don't know if it's a NB glitch but,
I used BP with my +1 SpA paralyzed Espeon (growth'd) to a paralyzed zapdos, and suddenly my Zapdos had 298 Speed!

It would be worth testing both of those (Pikachu SpA rollover and BPing from one paralyzed mon to another) ingame if we cannot track down sources. Have added a note about Pikachu to the OP.

About bellydrum, just to be clear, if you have under half health it will raise to +2 instead of +6? (and display failing message)
Yes, but obviously you will not lose HP.

Anyway, I don't that what happens in Stadium is relevant. The simulator will (should) use Crystal mechanics, which is what have always been used.

I'm unsure of NB's sources, but it would certainly help to have a full list of NYPC moves included in NB. If someone knows of such a list or is willing to make one by looking through the teambuilder it would be very helpful.
This list?

*It had 164 SpA

To add more things, given that it SpA is 164, this means that when Espy reached 999, the last 2 Growths didn't count for Pikachu neither, as:
396 (total Pikachu's SpA) * 3 (the boost get after +4 SpA) = 1188.
1188 - 164 = 1024.

That also means that the value of a glitched stat is it's "real value" - 1024, but I suppose that this was already known...

So this depends on whether the BP-er is paralyzed or not, rather than on whether you have passed stat boosts.

I am pretty sure that if the Pikachu rollover happens in NB is because it has been added, and thus also happens in-game. However, the paralysis+BP glitch could be a glitch of NB itself, so I'd rather test in in Pokemon Crystal: Anyone can do it?

Yes, but obviously you will not lose HP.

Anyway, I don't that what happens in Stadium is relevant. The simulator will (should) use Crystal mechanics, which is what have always been used.
It would be worthwhile knowing of differences between Stadium, Crystal, and Gold/Silver mechanics. Whichever is implemented, it's worth knowing the options before implementation. If a glitch was fixed later in the series, it may not always be best to implement it.

I have seen and replied to that, the source of that list is UPC and on the we archive of the UPC page it specifically claims to not be complete. Netbattle may well have quite a few differences for all I know.

Also, testing on a sim is not exactly reliable, even though it's worth knowing. Anything that can't be confirmed by good sources or overwhelming personal experience will probably need ingame testing, I'll keep a list of things to test in the OP.

I've got a working crystal cart, but work + my inability to shark = it might take a while (about a week, I'd say) for me to get to a point where I can test the existence of such a BP-para glitch. I personally have never heard of such a glitch in-game, and it seems like something people would've discovered and jumped all over way before now, but it would still be prudent to confirm.

As for light ball, it might be nice to have a source of in-cart confirmation to reference instead of reasoning that NB probably did it by design to better emulate the games (especially considering how wonky NB can be). If it's not somewhere on the net, I can try to test the generality of the rollover glitch by BPing growths to LB Pikachu or amnesia/acid armor to a metal powder ditto or something (although my RBY carts are currently inaccessible at the moment, so it'd take even longer for me to get to this.)

Anybody else who can do this faster/find in-cart confirmations elsewhere on the web is welcome to do so.

Disregard, if regarded. All my carts are inaccessible at the moment.

crystal, could you please put the log in a spoiler box? otherwise you could shorten it to show only the ten turns we need to see.

Can I also ask how rage behave in gen 2? (i know it doesn't raise attack when attacked, but rather the move's base power increase)

gumnas

formerly .Maguss.
I have lots of info to put on that if you want.

About the Zapdos speed showed by _Crystal, its not a NB glitch, but a GB glitch.

Here's a complete view on the Paralysis Status:

If a Pokémon is affected with the Status Paralysis, it will lose 1/4 of its Speed Stat. Also, before it use any move, it will have 1/4 chance of not attacking on that turn.

If a Pokemon with Status Paralysis use Baton Pass, the selected Pokemon to get on the field will not have its speed altered, even if its with Paralysis too. This means that if you use Baton Pass to switch to a Pokémon with Paralysis status, even if you do not pass any stat modification, the Pokemon will take maintained its original speed.

However, if the Pokemon suffer any stage modifier effect on his Speed, the game will recalculate the speed of the Pokemon, and its speed will again be reduced by 1/4.

If the battle is doing at Pokemon Stadium 2, and if a Pokemon with Paralysis Status use Baton Pass to another Pokémon with Paralysis, two situations must be considered:

1) If you passed any speed stage increaser (Agility comes to mind), the Pokemons speed will be reduced by 1/4.

2) If you don't, the new Pokemons speed will not be reduced, EVEN if it is affected by any speed stage modifier after that (the game recalculates the speed, but ignores the Paralysis effect of reducing the speed).

Sorry for any grammar errors, my english isn't very good.

Maguss, what you're describing is mostly mechanics of RBY fixed in Stadium :x

About end turn effects (poison, leech seed, leftovers, perish song, curse etc.) do they still happen if you ko the opposing pokemon?

(Also I pretty much finished GSC, of course it'll need NYPC moves as well as few odd moves like Rage behaving differently, but it's almost done)

What? Since when there is Baton Pass on RBY or Pokémon Stadium? All I have said is GSC mechanics, and no, this isn't fixed at all on Stadium 2. Read carefully what I've said.

About the NYPC moves, I'm almost sure Celebi doesn't learn Present. There is no clue about a Celebi with Present being held at NYPC (NBS is the only one, but I don't trust at all on it, especially considering its many bugs on GSC and possibility of combining every kind of Egg Move on every Pokémon, making you able to give illegal movesets to your Pokémon). Also, every NYPC Pokémon was an Egg the hatch with the special move on it, and Celebi can't hatch from an Egg (by normal means) since its a Legendary Pokémon.

If you belly drum (+50%) at +6 attack it won't happen anything; but if you belly drum from -6 to +5, you will lose health even if it's impossible to gain more attack. That means that a lv 100 Snorlax, who reachs 999 atk with +5, will just lose health if it drums; however, Quagsire needs +6, so if it drums again it wont happen anything. (Borat told me that).

Well, I really doubt that. I never knew that before, so I tested it on a link battle with two Pokémon Crystal cartridges, and that doesn't occur. The move fails even with a +5 Snorlax. This may occur in NBS, but not in-game (looks why I hate NBS?). I'll test it on GS after though.

EDIT: tested on Pokémon Silver now, and its the same.

EDIT 2: Powder Snow has 10% chance of freezing the target, as all the other Ice-type moves that can freeze (26/256 = 10,15625%). Don't trust on everything you see on Bulbapedia, specially when it comes to GSC.

Sorry Maguss, mistook it with the RBY paralysis + speed glitch.

Also ok, didn't know GSC still used things like 26/256 instead of 10/100, thanks.

Can I also ask how rage behave in gen 2? (i know it doesn't raise attack when attacked, but rather the move's base power increase)
Actually, Rage creates a multiplier to the Damage formula. It starts at 1 and increase by 1 every time the Pokémon being hitted by a direct damage. This multiplier is used just before the damage weighting (the last step on the Damage formula).

Thanks. Also, does the rage multiplier cap at some value?

Also, i heard from someone that the critical hits work like that:

First it calculates the damage done with all pokemon having their current boosts
Then it calculates the damage done with 0 boosts everywhere

and takes the one that makes the most damage.

So if 2 curselax are at +6/+6, a crit will only do twice the normal damage, but if you're at +0 and crit the foe at +2 def, then his def boosts will be ignored. If you're at +4 and crit a foe, you'll still have your attack boosts too.

Is that true?

No. It does not depend on +s, it looks at the actual resulting value. In most cases, it's pretty much the same as +s, however, there's a difference once you factor in the 999 cap.

So, once it crits, two calculations done: pre-stat upping and post stat upping.

So take a pokemon with 278 atk facing 258 def. Both stats reach 999 at +6. If it crits, 278 to 258 will do more, so stat ups are ignored.

However, pretend the pokemon had 258 atk and 278 def. Both stats hit 999 at +6 again. However, in this instance, 999 to 999 will do more damage than 258 to 278, so stat ups are applied.

+5 snorlax vs +5 snorlax, attack is 999 vs 798 def. 318 to 228 will do more in this case, so stat ups ignored.

Etc, etc.
