Woo full server! I think it's the first time since we've had remote hosting that we've filled all of the slots \o/

rocking the soartex texture pack before anyone asks :P
Man is that a good texture pack ... what do pistons appear as? Texture packs make me question whether my home looks good normally or not, so I keep em off usually.

So, whats new in Flatlands?

The Crawlin Creeper! - Flatlands branch

We got poles and a bar

Guys, there's more trouble brewing!

In the new community of Blooper Bay, a new Latverian base has appeared! ES, Jfry, Kinneas, and I were alerted to it by the sound of a computer sending information home. Hidden underground was a small display.

It breeds violence!

There was a sign in front of the screen, but it's in some kind of computer language... Can anyone tell what it says?

;_;

Mojang will be at PAX. We'll have the first playable version of the Adventure Update there, and it will be released to the public once we've adressed the feedback we get at PAX.

Yes, this is a marketing thing. ;) But also, we're doing some pretty bold changes to the game, and knowing we have the time to just play around with features we might now want to release is pretty liberating. Combat in 1.8, for example, is already way more fun than in 1.7, but it need further tweaking.

The latest of Notch's screenshots, this time on twitter:

"Yeah, the level generator isn't exactly tweaked for 512 height"

Notice:

-increased height!
-hunger bar?
-XP bar?!

He also posted on his blog an e-mail from another developer about his experiences toying around with the map height limit: http://notch.tumblr.com/

tl;dr - it's possible to increase the max height, but not without incurring huge RAM and bandwidth usage increases.

So basically, Terraria and Minecraft now take notes from one another?

Sounds like it really will be "Terraria is 2D and Minecraft is 3D. Play whichever you prefer most."

The pic in the spoiler tag makes me think of realistic mode. Are they coming out with that in 1.8?
