Well, I asked to be left out as a ref this round but apparently that didn't go through. Oh well.

This is one of around sixteen battles that are taking place for the ASB Battle Factory Tournament, round one! We have Maxim, a relatively experienced battler, on one side, pitted against kingofburgerz, who is newer but has a evident passion for burgers which just might be enough to let him win. I'll shut up talking and get to the teams.

Maxim's Team

Seaking (M)

Nature: Quiet
+1 Special Attack, -15% Speed, -10% Evasion

Type: Water
Water: Water STAB; Can breathe and have excellent mobility when underwater, are less capable on land unless they are entirely amphibious.

Ability: Lightningrod
Lightningrod(Innate):
These Pokemon naturally attract electricity to themselves and away from partners in double battles. When struck with an Electric attack, they transfer the energy into their body, using it to increase their Special Attack by one (1) stage. A boost gained this way by an opponent's attack will be maintained at the end of each round. Self-targeted attacks do not maintain boosts. If a Pokemon has a type immunity to Electric attacks, Lightningrod will not activate.

Steel: Steel STAB; immune to Sandstorm, highly insusceptible to toxic attacks, but can be corroded specifically by Acid and Acid Spray, can be magnetized. Superior senses in high-metal environments like construction sites or factories.

Ability: Hustle
Hustle (Can be Enabled):
This Pokemon puts immense force and speed in its physical attacks, increasing the Base Attack Power of all its physical attacks by three (3), but the haste used lowers their accuracy to 80% of normal.

Look, both battlers have a Serperior! what i'd give to get that serperior It'll be interesting how each player uses it to their own advantage, as it seems like the Serperior will be big players in this match... Also notable is kingofburgerz's Ferrothorn, which will have a leg up against the Seaking; Spikes might also be nasty to Maxim's team. On the other side, Maxim's Durant will be able to do large amounts of damage, so it looks pretty evenly matched up!

[box]Fire Ant attempts to make itself move faster, but it fails! I guess you can only do that initially before your opponent sends out his Pokemon for some reason. What a shame.

Fire Ant immediately digs a hole into the arena floor, avoiding Ferrothorn's barrage of parasitic plants that would otherwise sap its health which is actually quite frightening if you think about it considering that being in near contact with them for roughly a minute would probably be enough to knock you unconscious given the standard duration of a Pokemon battle in real time minus commercials in the anime... but then he pops back up and deals a pittance of damage and to take matters worse the Iron Barbs causes some recoil damage making this even more of a run-on sentence.

Now, Fire Ant continues the offensive and slashes at the Ferrothorn, dealing a critical hit as he smacks the metal durian in a weak spot dealing a gigantic amount of damage. Meanwhile, the Ferrothorn laughs a bit and throws rocks wildly around the arena, all of which magically levitate into the air and move into the corners of the arena, waiting ominously for new Pokemon to come in so they can smash them mercilessly. Once again, Fire Ant digs into the ground because the Durant really has no other moves to use against this thing. The Ferrothorn isn't a bit concerned, however, as it chucks spikes all around the ground that are embedded onto Maxim's side of the field. This kind of looks like a scene from Saw now, doesn't it?

In this round, Maxim has done a whole lot of nothing and has to deal with tons of hazards damage! I wonder how this is going to turn out...[/box]

[box]Round TWO

Fire Ant finally gets around to energizing his attacks, but then does something completely unexpected and tears out his life soul and stuffs it into a lifeless little doll before promptly disappearing into the shadows. The Ferrothorn is utterly confused, but it's not stopped form ramming into the doll with as much force as it can muster, tearing the little limbs of the rag doll and smashing them to bits.

Briefly popping into the real plane, Fire Ant does some strange magical action that makes Ferrothorn's durian exterior suddenly seem a lot less dangerous. Once again, though, the Durant's fancy antics don't stop the Ferrothorn from what it's planned to do—in this case set up a second layer of Spikes, rendering Maxim's side of the field more as a scene from a Saw movie than a battle arena.

Once again, Fire Ant leaps forward and slashes at the Ferrothorn, who retaliates with another strike that pretty much destroys the poor doll. Suddenly, though, the Ferrothorn's button explodes in a bright light, and when the dust clears it's Lanturn swimming in the moat![/box]

[box]Round THREE

Lanturn's out, people! At least there's no broken Illuminate now, which would make this battle about five times more interesting—even more if a certain Dogfish was involved.

Fire Ant immediately decides that running is the best option since obviously what can a metal ant thing do against an aquatic lantern—this thought is further reinforced by a horribly frightening stream of little bubbles that drift lazily to the substitute doll and explode with soft pop noises, although that for some reason is enough to blow the substitute doll up into bits.

Feeling the fight, the Durant pounds some pain into the Lanturn, but it doesn't seem to be very much as the Lanturn counters with a burst of scalding hot water, then a flash of searing electricity. It also leaves the Durant with a smarting burn, which is pretty much the last thing that a metal ant wants to have. Luckily for Fire Ant it's still able to sharpen up its claws, but then gets unceremoniously sucked back into his Pokeball. Next Pokemon![/box]

REFEREE RULING: Surf + Surf will wash away both layers of Spikes if successful, but not Stealth Rock. Considering that most of the effort is going into washing away hazards, damage done to the opponent will be halved.

[box]Round FOUR

While Poseidon takes ungodly damage from the hazards strewn across his team's side of the field, Lanturn gets ready to perform some disruption tactics.

Poseidon immediately begins charging up power for a massive tidal wave, aiming to wash away the spikes. The Lanturn sees no other option, however, and fires off a quick flash of disorienting light, causing the Seaking to smack itself in confusion in a grand anti-climax.

While Poseidon tries for the second time, the Lanturn launches a spew of toxins that badly poisons the Seaking. Poseidon is finally able to launch his tidal wave successfully this time, managing to clear his side of most hazards and deal damage at the same time: truly impressive.

The exertions force Poseidon into a mandatory cooling phase, however, which allows the Lanturn to fire off an actual attack this time, dealing a little bit of damage. At the end of the round, though, it's still the entry hazards that have dealt the most damage.[/box]
