fuck Eel

[Overview]
  • adorable
  • Overshadowed pretty hard by Eelektross, who is infamous for its mixed attacking prowess and Levitate, and several other NU Electric-types
  • Ampharos actually has a lot of things that these Pokemon don't
  • Highest Special Attack of all NU Electric-types
  • Its low Speed lets it invest more in bulk, allowing it to take hits many other Electric-types would crumple to
  • not SR weak like the Rotom formes
  • somewhat shallow movepool, but has the exclusive Heal Bell, which allows it to fill a niche that other Electric-types in NU simply can't
  • Did I mention it's adorable?

[SET]
name: Tank
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Signal Beam
move 3: Focus Blast / Volt Switch
move 4: Heal Bell / Volt Switch
item: Life Orb / Magnet / Choice Specs
ability: Static
nature: Modest
evs: 172 HP / 252 SpA / 84 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
  • This set attempts to utilize Ampharos's unique traits to their fullest
  • Good bulk allows it to take several hits, while its power allows it to easily retaliate back
  • that Thunderbolt is simply awe-inspiring, dealing massive damage to anything that doesn't resist it
  • Signal Beam hammers Grass-types that think they can switch in on Thunderbolt
  • Focus Blast, Volt Switch, and Heal Bell are all viable options for the last two slots
  • Focus Blast hits Normal- and Rock-types like Kangaskhan and Golem hard, Heal Bell
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • Speed EVs outspeed uninvested base 65 Pokemon such as Alomomola

Not sure how I feel about Agility. If you are going to use it though, I doubt I would run Sub over some kind of coverage move (I'm thinking Signal Beam right now, but I'm not entirely sure). I'm also not thoroughly convinced on dual screens. I feel like it would fit fine in the OO, but I do see the merit of using it (slow Volt Switch to bring out a teammate safely). Other two are definitely fine for me.

@Arcticblast It's been well over a month now, so I'm going to have to move this to Locked/Outdated and let someone else reserve Ampharos.
