When Subway first set foot on Route 14 he stepped into a small puddle, when he took his foot out. Doom was firmly attached to it. Subway tried several ways to remove him, but nothing would work. The ASB Arena shakes with the cheering of the audience, and then shakes considerably more when a Tyrunt appears in the middle of it, closely followed by a Privatyke. Their Trainers issue their commands, and the two charge forward like... well, like migrating glaciers after a heavy dose of cold medicine, if we're being honest. Neither mon is really built for speed.

Tyrunt strikes first, its powerful jaws buzzing with sparks as they clamp down on the weird octopus thingy's face and little sailor hat with a Thunder Fang. Such anti-nautical nonsense be something the Privatyke definitely does not wish, and the poor thing Flinches, leaving Tyrunt with another opportunity to deliver a Thunder Fang, which it grabs with both tiny, stubby little hands. This time, though, the Privatyke reacts, delivering a Drain Punch straight to his adversary's snout, stealing a bit of life energy from the Tyrunt. This, however, has the effect of making the Tyrunt even more angry than before, and it charges forward again to deliver one final Thunder Fang. The Privatyke braces itself and...

Flinches again.

The two big bruisers continue to battle it out in the heat of the arena, though neither mon's sweating quite as much as their Trainers are. Tyrunt roars a challenge and bursts forward, its powerful legs propelling it over the foe's head to deliver an Aerial Ace attack. Grunting with pain, the Privatyke waits to strike, and then does in fine style, bodychecking the freshly-landed Tyrunt and exacting its Revenge. Quite understandably, the Tyrunt is more than slightly annoyed by this, and rips into Privatyke with a potent Thunder Fang once more. Rapidly tiring both of spark-spitting dinosaurs and in general, Privatyke responds by summoning a Substitute, then hurling it across the arena. The well-trained Tyrunt powers off after it, snatching it mid-air and mauling it with yet another Thunder Fang, while the Privatyke pours all its energy into one last shot. While the Tyrunt is busy eviscerating the substitute, Privatyke concentrates and then powers forward, throwing its weight into the God Hand, a brace of Focus Punches! The blows catch Tyrunt on the back of the neck and fell it, with the panting, battered Privatyke standing over the body.

The crowd is cheering for Cyrano now, knowing all the same that he cannot hide from retribution. The wrath of God appears in the form of a small damp globule of what looks like the contents of Barney the Dinosaur's handkerchief called Doom. Nevertheless, there are people going awww, likely because of how pathetic it looks. This aura is not broken when it attacks, sucking air into its lungs (assuming it has them) and belching forth a Dragon Breath attack that coats the panting, cooling-down Cyrano in odd blue flames and finally puts him down. Across the country, sweaty men in polyester leisurewear sob into their ready meals. The little Privatyke who could is no more.

Biker Prince's paralysis is lowered!

The boos for having knocked out the crowd favourite are still ringing in Doom's ears, so when his opposite number is sent out, a Tirtouga named Biker Prince for reasons best known to his trainer, he doesn't hesitate in launching a powerful Thunderbolt its way. In its rush to do some proper damage to the foe, the little purple blob thing fails to notice that the target's glowing white, and the bolt hits home with the result of... nothing very much. Trying a different tack, the Goomy hammers an ill-advised Sludge Wave at his nemesis, but the Prince continues to Bide, Holding through the ineffective attack with a smirk. With a flare of white light, the energy is Released, blasting poor Doom clear across the arena to groans from the crowd. It shakes its head, which accounts for about 90% of its body mass, and summons another Thunderbolt to hurl at the Tirtouga. This time, it hits, but the solidly-constructed turtle pal shrugs it off with a smug grin. Things are not looking good for Barney's nose-goop.

Bide has +1 Priority, according to the NDA, so only one Thunderbolt actually hits for damage... BAP of Thunderbolt is 9, but it has an effective BAP of 6 because of the combination of Solid Rock and Sturdy (-2 because it's super-effective, -1 because it's built like four brick shithouses bolted together with rivets of pure MANRY). Goomy's SpA rank is 2, Tirtouga's SpD rank is 2. Even I can't fuck up 2-2, though not for lack of trying, I assure you.

Do mons take damage while Biding? As in, it's not just absorbed?
