Ambipom and the VoltTurners (Peaked 2000+)

Well, hello there lady's and gents it is I your host Killadave showcasing another RMT this time featuring the forgotten little Monkey in Ambipom. Ambipom, is so predictable it not even funny yet it so effective the thing Nets like 1-2 Kill's or even better weakening pokes so that Aegislash can come in and clean up. The rest of the team is pretty standard. This team Peaked and (2000+) Before i wanted to make a new team. Anyway without Further ADO Here is the team Featuring Ambipom

Talonflame @ Sharp Beak
Trait: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk/ 164 Spd/ 88 HP
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Roost
Set Suggested By TCR.

Goodra @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 248 HP / 76 Atk / 20 Def / 108 SpA / 56 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethower
- Dragon Tail
- Sludge Wave
Set Suggested by Tokyo Tom. With its naturally super high special def boosted into the atmosphere by the assault vest i didnt think that it needed any EV investment there and opted to round out its defenses as much as I could to let it take a physical hit. Chose gooey over its other abilities because I'm not running rain and grass attacks dont scare this guy on either side, and on a good switch in it can either cripple an opponents speed or force a switch. Move choices seem kinda standard high damage coverage.

Aegislash @ Spooky Plate
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 HP / 252 SAtk
Lonely Nature
- Sacred Sword
- Shadow Sneak
- King's Shield
- Shadow Ball
EVS Suggetsed by TCR. Moving on, we come to a more uprising popular Pokémon, Aegislash. After much consideration, Aegislash was added to the team as an offensive set up wall. Originally added because of its unique Ghost/Steel typing, Aegislash has shown many additional reasons for having its place on the team. Though using a standard set, Aegislash is by far one of the most effective members on the team. Shadow Sneak and Sacred Sword are devastating and Shadow Ball is just Really Good.

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 96 Spe / 252 HP / 160 Atk
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Roost
- Defog
Scizor can remove the entry hazards with Defog, and he does a really good job, because of the fact that he isn't affected by Toxik Spikes, and also because he pairs well with Rotom-W, forming the VolTurn core, and being able to resist grass type moves. Even if it's a Defensive Scizor, he still hits pretty hard, with an attack stat reaching 296, and a strong priority move, which do a lot of damages on ice and fairy type pokes.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/ 48 Def/ 164 SpD / 44 Spe
Bold Nature

- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
EV Suggested By TCR W/ Minor Adjustment since Jolly Azumaril Running around thanks to BT. The most used Pokemon in the current Pokebank OU metagame iirc, and the most common set on it to boost. Despite the inner hipster in me saying no, I can't help but use this guy, especially on a mono that's so devoid of good secondary types. He serves as my physical wall and in general a good pivot/scout. Volt Switch is to mess around with the opponent and in general be a jerk. And it is very easy to spam once Ground-types are removed, since half my team knows Volt Switch. Momentum comes naturally. Hydro Pump is the secondary STAB, and it hits quite a few things that otherwise shut down a good part of my team, namely AB Heatran, and also is a much safer move against Gliscor then locking Thundy into HP Ice or bringing in the Ground-weak Evire for an Ice Punch. Willow is a must on Rotom to inflict burns and cripple opposing physical attackers. Pain Split, finally, allows Rotom to live quite a bit longer if played correctly, and with all the switches that this guy forces, it isn't hard to find a nice full-health pokemon to split with. 90% of the time this guy is my lead due to his natural ability to hurt or cripple many Pokemon and Volt Switch out of those he can't.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Def / 68 Spd
Naive Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
Standard Offensive Pivot Landorus-T forms the second half of the 'Turn' in Volt-Turn. In addition to this role, he functions as an offensive SR setter and is my first scarecrow for Talonflame (though he needs to be wary of the WoW variants which thankfully haven't seemed to have caught on just yet). Landy's role is clear, check and weaken physical attackers, maintain offensive momentum and get SR up when the opportunity arises. There's a lot of pressure on Lando-T to absorb powerful CCs and other fighting type attacks that the rest of my team does not take well so it's imperative that I play him with an iota of intelligence.

I don't have much time, I'll try to get in a real rate later, but for now you should try out this Goodra:

Goodra @ Assault Vest | Gooey
Sassy | 248 HP / 76 Atk / 20 Def / 108 SpA / 56 SpD
Draco Meteor | Fire Blast | Dragon Tail | Sludge Bomb

EVs are a lil' specific, but meh. 248 HP and 56 SpDef means minimizing hazards damage and grabbing the jump point in Special Defense (and of course optimizing its special bulk), with the 20 Def EVs buffing it out against mixed Aegislash a little bit. As for the rest, while some more special bulk would be cute, it's honestly not even necessary under most circumstances, and the added offensive presence is chill as well. 108 SpA allows Goodra to help break through Steel-types, Fairy-types, and so forth much more comfortably (specifically Ferrothorn, CM 'Rachi, Lefties Azumarill, non-SpDef Togekiss, support Garchomp, etc. etc.), and the 76 Atk EVs, aside from generally putting more oomph behind its DTails, breaks offensive Zapdos' subs, which was a bit more pertinent considering I was applying this largely in non-Pokebank OU. Honestly, I'm not particularly in love with Sludge Bomb for coverage, but considering it allows Goodra to fish for poison and deter Fairy-types from jumping in on a predicted STAB attack. So yeah, try it, I can guarantee you won't be disappointed n_n

And yeah, 49 if you're reading this, I ripped this write-up straight from your post on Quantum, mb x)

Definatly will Try the Spread but dont you think Draco Meteor and Dragon Tail are a Bit Redundant!?!? Plus, the Reason behind me using Sap Sipper>Gooey is that no one Rotom is the only poke hates grass moves and With all the Subseeding Trevanats running around Goodra comes in and wall 2/4 of its move as its immune to Leech seed and as long as i have fire blast theres nothing more it can do to me.

Hey man, got the request! Now as much as I love Ambipom, it is entirely outclassed by Mega Kang. Like, so much so. Even though Kang is going to be banned soon, you might as well run it before it gets the boot. As such, Mega Kang is my first change. Parental Bond is just so broken, why not just abuse it? Ambipom also isnt that good as PuP is a rather poor boosting move, outside Kang, and normal STAB is gross. However, if using Kang bothers you, you could also try Talonflame and bluff the Band with Sharp Beak. For your purposes, I'll include the set in the hide tag as opposed to the Kang set.

Next, Shadow Ball on Aegislash really lacks power without any EVs. Shift the HP Evs over to SpA and run a Quiet Nature+Spooky Plate. The only reason to run Air Balloon is to stop Excadrill who is handled by Landorus anyway. You want the most power you can get out of Aegislash as possible.

I also recommend the above Goodra set. Just putting that out there. On Rotom-W, change the spread to Bold 252 HP/ 48 Def/ 208 SpD to get the most bulk out of your Rotom-W. this gives you better insurance against special attackers, while still retaining respectable physical bulk (enough to be 3hkoes by +2 Talonflame Brave Bird). Thats it from me, nice team!

Welp, the plan is to shuffle the opponent's team around and get some more SR residuals up so you can clean a lil' better lategame with Mega Kang, if you go with TCR's suggestion (I think he said pretty much everything I was planning to say, haha) or Ambipom. Goodra has the bulk to pull it off, and honestly you're not missing much from the Focus Blast coverage (Fire Blast roasts steels and has better acc. to boot, while DMeteor smashes the rest). Running DTail also means you don't have to switch right out after using DMeteor, which makes Goodra less of a set-up bait 'Mon.

And yeah, missed the Sap Sipper part, mb, sounds awesome and you should definitely keep it. Works nicely with DTail too :]

First off, kudos for having a successful team without goddamn Mega-Kangaskhan or Talonflame. However I have a few changes I have in mind. Why not use swords dance over shadow ball on Aegislash? Also, in air balloon seems unnecessary when you have a Landorus-T to take those ground moves. I suggest a bulky SD physically attacking set with max hp and attack. Also, life orb is a better
choice than silk scarf on Ambipom, considering its lack of bulk in the first place. You are also missing a nature on your Rotom's spread.

I'm flattered that you seem to have read my own RMT, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't just outright plagiarise my description for Lando-T, especially considering you're not even running the same set so it's not even accurate.

That said, I'll second TCR's suggestion of investing in SpAtk on your Mixed!Aegislash. Most common switch-ins on Aegislash are physically defensive and Aegislash can perform its wallbreaking much better with investment on the special side. If you're not fond of the loss of bulk, feel free to take the investment from Atk over HP. Sacred Sword isn't something you'll commonly be using anyway and while losing some power on Shadow Sneak hurts, it still performs just fine as a finisher for weakened opponents.

In addition, if you do decide to take up TCR's suggestion of moving some physical bulk from Rotom-W into special bulk, I'd recommend running Stone Edge over HP [Ice] on Landorus so that it can truly act as a second answer to Talonflame rather than just faking access to a move that forces it out (you can't touch it otherwise, other than setting up SR in its face). With Talonflame running circles around your team otherwise, it's nice to have the extra insurance, just in case Rotom-W goes down.

One Problem with this Mega Scizor and Mega Kanga cant be on the same team. lol

Very nice team. You also played it prety well, specially in the second match. BTW, whats up witht he first team? (Azumarill, Deoxys-D, Bisharp, Thundurus, Megalucario, Garchomp). I have seen the exact same team more than once. Seems good. Did annyone posted somewhere in and now a lot of people are just copying it or what??

Also, damn, the dude in the second replay is running my team :o (played it pretty terribly, but meh haha)

Just a small thing so this post isn't completely pointless, but I'd consider running 96 speed EVs on Scizor to creep on Defensive Washtom to get the U-Turn off without risking a burn, and also to beat a lot of 'Mons that EV to outspeed Washtom. You can take it out of defense honestly, you'll still have a big investment and Scizor's naturally high base 140 is good enough as is.

Glad to see the DTail Goodra, let me know how it works out for you :]

David I just went against your team today (with ambipom). Won 6-0 since I recognized it right away and knew the movesets (I guess thats what happens when you just copy a team from the mpst popular forum) :D Just to tell you most of your team gets walled pretty hard by skarmory (ambipom, landorus, scizor cant barely scratch it)

Your rating is higher than mine so you probably know better, but why no Genesect? (the best U turner in the game). Because of the huge fire weakness you would have?

genesect did come to mind when it came to u-turners it was either him or scizor, but when I was testing the team with him I hated entry hazard and always have since 4th gen. So, when you put it to the paper scizor has defog and u-turn sounds I hit the jackpot there, skarmory not that big of a problem as rotom, aegislash and goodra can handle it quite effectively.

Well, physical aegislash iseasily counterable and mixed slash just packs more oomph than it. Whoops thought when I proof read his nature was there

Ok so I am well aware that mixed pokemon are great but my biggest suggestion here is that i really think that aegislash greatly benifits from swords dance over shadow ball i am a bit of the nub at using calcs so i cannot get you any exact numbers, but with 3xatk (which is really easy to get to when you take the 252 spatk ev's and put it into hp) shadow sneak is a very pleasing damage move and rips holes in anything that doesn't resist it.Also the extra ev’s that you will be putting into hp will really help the bulk, also I would recommend changing the item from spooky plate to leftovers to get some reliable healing with king’s shield, I think making these changes will make it a much more effective sweeper

(a bit of advice on your talonflame, Don't use U turn, that thing is 4x weak to SR and you never know when those things are gonna be set up I just think that the earlier you get that guy in the better and since its main moves are recoil it is pretty much meant to do as much damage as it can before it dies)

It's Blametruth & Joey's hyper offensive team on Youtube.

Ok, out of testing U-Turn to me is Quite more Effective as i can Lead with him and Scare off pokes

Honestly, I take issues with this post.

1) SD Aegislash and Mixed Aegislash have different roles so they're not even comparable

2) SD Aegislash is mediocre at being a bulky physical sweeper at best and outright trash at worst (+4 Shadow Sneak - and no competent player lets an Aegislash get +4 in the first place fails to OHKO Rotom-W, for example and it retaliates with WoW or just KOing you in Sword form with HPump). Mixed Aegislash on the otherhand is probably one of the best wallbreakers around, requiring no Set-up and hitting almost every physically defensive wall in OU extremely hard with Shadow Ball while not being complete dead weight if burnt - Skarmory, Rotom-W, Landorus-T etc. all get absolutely crushed by SB on the switch, and are all extremely valuable mons to remove from a match.

3) Mixed Aegislash can run 252 HP, 252 SpAtk just fine to have the same bulk as SD Aegislash. It's not like Sacred Sword is going to be used very often anyway.

4) I don't think Leftovers + King's Shield has ever been called 'reliable recovery' by anyone before, ever. If you're running Aegislash to wallbreak, you'll want to hit as hard as possible, and you're unlikely to be staying in long enough for Leftovers recovery to make much of an impact.

5) U-turn on Talonflame is fantastic, allowing you to take a good chunk of damage out of Tyranitar (a common Talonflame counter and switch in) on the switch and giving you fantastic momentum. Talonflame shouldn't be switching in and out regardless of whether it has U-turn on or not if Rocks are on the field anyway. Personally, I'd consider running WoW over Roost to cripple Lando-T and Ttar on the switch (Rotom-W doesn't particularly like it either).

I'd also very much appreciate it if you changed your Lando-T description. Like seriously.

You hit the Nail in the coffin of what i was trying to say but couldnt put the word on the paper. Im in the process of Debating if i should change Lando-T All together for either Heatran or Deo-D but ya i will change the Description

this team really struggles against gliscor. i want to put in an ice move somewhere, but i just can't find a spot. you could drop stealth rocks for HP Ice on landorus, or even give HP Ice to goodra. draco only does max 75% against 252 HP Gliscor, and meanwhile, it toxic/protect stalls you. another option is to drop u-turn on scizor and give it SD, so it can just use gliscor as set up bait. Rotom doesn't really stop gliscor either, as gliscor outspeeds and can just stall you out of PP on your hydro pump.
