Dragon Quest is my favorite game series, and I've played at least one version of each main game and Monsters game, except DW3. DWM2 was one of the first DQ/DW games I ever played, and to this day it's probably my favorite game in the entire series.
Joker 1 is pretty good, iirc the breeding system is simpler than the one in DWM 1 and 2. It's a HUGE pain to get around to certain places, though, since there's only one Zoom location on most islands and some of them are pretty sizable. Joker 2 kind of fixes this by introducing Zip which allows you to teleport between different designated spots in a region. It also introduced monster sizes in this game, where bigger monsters take up more slots in your party, and a reserve party which you can use to swap with monsters in your active party while you're roaming around, essentially letting you carry up to 6 monsters at once. However, Joker 2 removed almost all touchscreen functionality (you only can use it to input names now) and the battle animations just seem... off somehow, it's hard to explain. Granted those two are rather minor since the touchscreen didn't have many more uses in Joker 1, but they really bothered me while playing the game. Also, there was almost NO information on monster breeding combinations for Joker 2 when I last played, while there was a huge, exhaustive FAQ (practically a mini wiki) on GameFAQs for Joker 1's monster breeding. Part of what I enjoyed most about Joker 1 was planning these huge breeding chains to make these overpowered beasts with powerful movesets, but it's kinda hard to do that when there's nothing to look up. I haven't actually beaten this one, though, so perhaps I'll give it another shot soon to see if I can look past its flaws and see if it shapes up to be as good - or better - than Joker 1 overall.
