Other Silly Things You've Seen On The OU Ladder: V2

I swear, these are the first three ranked matches I've randomly chosen on the ladder.

  • X-Scissor Scolipede. Because Megahorn isn't accurate enough?
Actually, I've had multiple occasions where I've lost a match because Megahorn missed versus a low-HP target. Basically, I have a Baton Pass Scolipede and my foe has something that somewhat threatens it and/or my sweeper. Only, the thing that actually has a chance of threatening it is at really low health. So I click Megahorn. If I hit, that foe is out of the way and they can't stop me from Baton Passing. So of course, I miss.

One time, after my foe successfully sets up a Baton Pass sweep only to get their sweeper taken down anyway, it ends up being my Baton Pass Scolipede versus their Baton Pass Scolipede. Theirs is 252 HP / 252+ Def with X-Scissor instead of Megahorn, and is at about 30% after its previous setup. Mine is 248 HP / 8+ Def / 252 Speed (yes, the EV spread/nature is inefficient, I was a noob at the time) with Substitute and Iron Defense. They manage to set up a second sweep and take out the remaining half of my team because Megahorn misses the one time it needs to hit.

Because nobody can be bothered to put good sets on their all-Eeveelution teams.
Also, I'm not really sure what the point of Explosion Landorus-T is, but I saw one.
Plus Assurance Umbreon, a sashed Clefable (I think it's bulky enough as is), Metal Burst Sableye (it worked, at least), Arbok, and a team of all Flying types all nicknamed Theodore. Including Mandibuzz.

That Starf Berry Trevenant was amazing. It's like Moody except hilarious.

Also, that Sludge Bomb/Hydro Pump/Substitute/Swords Dance Tentacruel. Seriously, WTF?
I kinda wanna use a Starf berry Trevenant now. Also SD Tenta w/ Sludge Bomb and Hydro is WAY too good have you ever used it?

I for one like to thank these bad teams for teaching me that Xerneas learns Outrage. Who'da thunk it?
For some reason, if you ever battle anyone on Wifi in Pokemon X and Y and they have a Xerneas, almost all of them are physical (though some do use a Power Herb Geomancy set...but a good number of them only have Moonblast as a special move).

Xerneas not only learns Outrage; it also learns Close Combat. Those two, Moonblast, Horn Leech, and Geomancy are the only moves I see on Xerneas on Wifi. Which means like Aegislash hard counters any Xerneas that doesn't have Geomancy. Surprisingly my in-game Aegislash does a great job at killing all these Xerneas without Geomancy.

Not sure if I posted this before, but it's pretty funny.
Hahaha oh my god, that was a clusterfuck of bad plays.

  • Azumarill using Superpower on Salamence
  • Salamence using Double Edge
  • Keeping Dragonite in on a Cloyster
  • Keeping Breloom in on a Darmanitan
  • Zen Mode Darmanitan
  • Zen Mode Darmanitan using Flamethrower before it's in Zen Mode
  • Milotic using Ice Beam on Tentacruel
Surviving that Ice Beam with 1% thanks to the Starf Berry to win the match was hilarious though. I don't like to be mean about it, but I wasn't surprised in the slightest at the ranks after watching that match.

LOL, it looks like a kid from Battle Spot wanted to try his in-game team on the ladder.

Random Shit volume 75: Best Raikou Comeback Ever Edition (disclaimer: not mine)
-Poliwrath using Focus Punch a) without a Sub up and b) against Sableye.
-Keldeo using Focus Miss.
-So this happened: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-106471996
-Another Kangaskhan. And this one apparently thought she could reliably use Sucker Punch on Dusclops. Oh, and Outrage.
-Dig M-Garchomp.
-Miltank repeatedly trying to Toxic a Ferrothorn.
-Frisk Gothitelle.
-HP Steel Salamence.
-Octillery that thought it could pull off a Critdra set. Not with that speed, you're not.
-Ah, Metronome (yeah, I know it's Ubers, deal with it): http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ubers-106474661
-Pretty much this entire battle, starring GIGA DRAIN SHEDINJA: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-106476284
-Ninjask is at 26% and there's a sandstorm. Better use Substitute.
-Also in Ubers, there was a CM special X-two. Yeah, I know he can go mixed, and his physical movepool isn't great, but still.
-NU team beats (sort of) OU team, courtesy of Whiscash: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-106476127
-Sigilyph without Magic Guard.

Just came across a Rotom-W carrying Ominous Wind. Like... why?

Also, I figure I should ask: is Bite on Mega-Gyarados actually a thing, or is that just some weird anomaly I've been seeing lately?

I've seen it suggested before, even in the analysis thread IIRC, but it's generally overlooked for better options. If only Gyarados learned Crunch!

Sorry but UU doesn't have something like this

So today I was playing some RU with my RU team when I accidentally clicked UU and got into a battle, turns out my opponent had a really horrible team with things like:
Psychic + Energy Ball Trevenant
Special Snorlax with Blizzard
Special Metagross

Here is the replay: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/uu-106539429
Really the only reason I lost was because I brought my RU team not my UU team, if I was using my UU team I probably would have won

The way my opponent handled Quagsire with Scizor D:
Only continue using SD vs. Quagsire if you want to let me win. Seriously. +6 Bug Bite = +0 Bug Bite

You should've won anyways against a team like that.
