Forest Junction

Ignoring the glaring eyes of the bush with the tail, the group decides to head north, towards the building in the distance.

Even as the eyes follow them until they can no longer be seen...

Forest Path

A few more stone pillars sit off the path, like those that lined the way to the Junction before. There are two differences in the similarities: one of them has been turned into a pile of stones, while another has been chipped somewhat, a figure of a Pokémon starting to peek out of the stone.

The trees are like before, except that there is an unusual amount of water them, growing in size as the group heads north.

Quickly, the group approaches the red thing in the middle of the path...

A Parasect, suddenly snapping its pincers at the six of them as they approach. It glares at them with white eyes as Terra points her sword at it.

Let me see... this Parasect is named Hunter. While it is not allied with either the Agents of Fate or with the Demons, I do not think it is a wild Pokémon. It appears injured from a previous conflict, but because it hasn't gone away to recover, I think it's trainer has ordered it to allow no one to pass.

Despite being injured, the Parasect appears stronger than a normal Parasect, even in its current state. If the group wants to go further down the path, they might have difficulties.

Stepping around the unconcious body of the Parasect, the group moves forward, Auric hurrying after the others after a moment.

Abandoned Construction Site

Whatever was expected from the group, it probably wasn't this.

The clearing that the group enters is clearly manmade, a ring of trees surrounding the clearing that is slightly larger than what is known in the Smogon Region as a Football Field. At one end sits a pile of stumps, torn from the ground, but left alone afterwards, as if whatever someone was planning to do with them had abandoned the idea. Near the pile of stumps is another large rock, one of twelve circling the site, three on each side being larger than the others. In the middle of the field is a pile of lumber, sunk partway into the earth, with a faint blue paper attached to pile, as if soaked thoroughly before drying out on the wood.

Across the field, directly across from the entrance to it, sits a large building, partly constructed, the pieces of it present being made of both wood and stone. There is a partial roof on it, as if someone had stopped making the roof midway through their project. The entryway to the building lacks doors, but above it sits a symbol, giving a clue to what the building was probably being built for.

Turning back to the field, even beyond the scattered construction equipment, the place is more of a swamp than a field of grass. The dirt is more liquid than solid, and every few feet sits a pool of water. The entire area, and the trees surrounding the area, look like they have suffered a heavy rainfall, even though such a rainfall hasn't happened in days.

Scattered around the field are about a dozen Sentrets, all sleeping in the sun on various objects, including one on the sinking pile of lumber.

Abandoned Construction Site

The Sentrets continue to doze in the sunlight as four of the group move forward.

Nate and Abnormality squish their way through the mud as they approach the tree stumps, keenly interested in checking them out. Like anything else in the area, they have signs of being soaked with water recently, despite the lack of rain. There are chunks of mud on them, the dirt not all removed from the roots, but they are mostly clean. Mostly. On top of the pile is a Sentret, sleeping on what appears to be a nest that it made.

Meanwhile, Sterling approaches the building on the other side of the field, floating over the field of mud with ease. Despite the approach, the sunlight streaming in from what appears to be a hole in the unfinished roof blocks most of the view. Going in is an option; sometimes it takes a different view to see things what one misses the first time.

On the other hand, Auric manages to pull his feet out of the mud long enough to walk over to the lumber. The Sentret on the pile gives a sleepy glance at him as he approaches, but quickly turns back to its nap. Like the pile of stumps at one end of the field, the lumber is somewhat wet, but unlike the stumps, the water is in beads on the surface of the wood, very little of it penetrating it. The blue paper, on the other hand, has absorbed water and been dried out repeatedly, its markings very faint.

Auric looks more closely at the paper, trying to read it. The markings on it resemble a map of some sort, various lines pointing at various points on it. While it is difficult to read, Auric deciphers that the large oval in the center of the map is labeled 'Creation Plaza'. Spending more time with the map may reveal more pieces of information.

What does the group do?

Nate and Abnormality shook off the paralyzis!

Abandoned Construction Site

Deciding to investigate the building further, Auric squishes his way through the mud to catch up with Sterling, and Terra follows suit, Serenity flying over the muddy field after them. Ignoring Nate and Abnormality, the four of them step onto solid ground and enter the building, hearing Cassida's words as they do so...

"I'm not sure on the symbol... the water may have washed most of it away, but I think it... is meant to be the shape of Arceus's rings..."

Half-Built Building

Sunlight streams through the holes in the roof as the four make their way in onto the stone floor and then onto the wet and moldy red rug.

The most obvious feature of the building that is entered is a large block of stone in the back, sunlight bearing down on it from where a window may have been planned to go. Unlike the stone blocks outside, however, large portions of the stone have been cut away from the block to reveal the head and a couple features of what promised to be a very imposing statue:

Casting a wider glance around the room, the stone floor is mainly clear of furnishings, save for the rug beneath the feet and wings of the travellers. Wooden benches and potted plants lie pushed against the walls, pressed there from some great force. What remains not pushed to the walls is a stone altar in front of the statue, a small amulet also in the shape of Arceus's rings hanging from it.

An Ancient Amulet, much like the one that Nate outside bears. Unlike the surrounding area, the Amulet is dry. Maybe it is a sign?

There are doorways to other parts of the building, but the benches and plants are blocking access to the other rooms. In the middle of the floor where the benches most likely should be are pools of water, each a few feet wide and most likely a few deep.

As the four take in their surroundings, a low growl echoes from the top of the half completed statue, and a shape jumps down in front of the amulet, glaring at the group.

"Furr..."

It is a Furret, its fur slightly wet, but nowhere near the extent of the area. Its eyes have a vacant look, despite its body sending signals that it will defend its territory.

It looks like this won't go down without a fight!

Sterling, seeing the Amulet, decides to just cut out the middle man and uses his psychic power to get the amulet that the Furret is in front of.

With a flick of psychic power, the Amulet flies above the head of the enemy Pokémon and lands on the Aurumoth's wing...

Sterling got the Arceus Amulet!

...And she suddenly gets a dazed look in her eyes...

Vision said:
"By the Original One, this land belongs to him! I paid for it for him fair and square!"
Sterling sees back outside the Half-Built Temple, but there are significant differences. First of all, there is a group of about ten people in the area, with two of them circling each other in front of the temple entrance. There are about six men in suits, comparing pieces of paper with each other and glancing at the two doing the circling. The last two appear to be taking notes on the entire spectacle, continuing to watch.
"You and your god are of a bygone age, priest! You were born into the wrong century! This land has been purchased for a Pokélathon Stadium!"

The man who shouts now is followed by an Arcanine, which circles along with its master. The man himself is large, bulky with his muscles, shown easily through his sports jersey.
"You were too late! I purchased this land first! I don't care what you say, I'm not letting the investment of all my life's savings be taken away from Arceus!"

This man is wearing a white cloak with a blue shirt shown underneath, the Arceus Amulet shown prominently on his chest. He leads the circle with his staff, with a Chatot on his shoulder looking around and being followed by a Pikachu, a Sentret, and a Chikorita.
"Sir, if you have a moment, I think we have something to share that might swing the case in your favor in court."
That was one of the suited men, beaconing the Poke'athelete over to him...

It might take a little time before Sterling gets her senses back to the present...

Serenity brings her wings about, sending a solid blade of air at the Furret as she flies about the temple.

With the group gathering completely, the Furret decides to focus its attention on Auric. There is a crackeling of electricity as something builds up in the Furret's body, giving a glimpse of dark energy emmitting from the enemy just before a bolt of black lightning flies at Auric.

"Maximo, we have examined both deeds to the property, and concluded you are the rightful owner of the land here. Priest Walker's deed is a forgery."
Walker. The man now wide eyed and speaking to one of the other suited men, who stands away from the rest.
"You have nothing left other than this temple. Is this correct?"
"Yes," came Priest Walker's reply. "I have nothing left other than the temple and my possessions. I don't even have food left."
"Maximo appears to be in the right now. The only option would have been to settle, but since you have nothing left, you wouldn't be able to pay the settlement."
"Chatot!" calls the Chatot, looking skyward as a black shape appeared in the sky.
"Quiet, McScurvy," Walker says. "What's our next tactic?"
"The only way I can think of you getting something out of this mess," says the suited man, "is to find whoever sold you the phony deed in the first place."
Three points of the black shape start glowing blue in the distance, prompting the Chatot to chatter again, speaking, "Sqwak! Chatot! Hey, listen!"
"Not now, McScurvy," says the Priest. "That will be difficult. Neptune, the man who sold me the deed, disappeared shortly after the deal."
One of the points suddenly dims as a red glow appears directly behind it, and then the remaining two dim as the entire shape dives out of the way of... an incoming meteorite!
"ABANDON SHIP!" calls the Chatot, taking off from its position on the Priest’s shoulder and diving towards the woods, away from the temple.
"By the Original One!" calls Walker, "what is the-"
FWACK-BOOM!
With that, the meteor struck.

Just what is he seeing?

Deciding to ignore the newcomers for a moment, Serenity leads the charge to stike down the Furret further.
