RMT Archive [Other Tier Nominations]

Bloo

Banned deucer.
Hello, welcome to the RMT Archive nomination thread! I know this has been stagnant for a while, but, we've finally got it up and running again! The RMT archive index has been updated!

Here, you're free to nominate Uber / UU / RU / NU / LC / VGC RMTs you feel deserves a spot in the RMT Archive. Keep the following in mind, though: We're looking for teams that bring something new to the table. Teams that perfect a certain strategy or combination. Teams that popularize a new set or obscure way of playing a certain Pokémon. Those are the kind of teams that we want to see here. DO NOT automatically nominate a team just because it has pretty pictures, lengthy descriptions, or a colorful threat list. Remember, we are trying to tell a story of the development of the metagame of a generation through RMTs, so make sure to nominate teams that meet the aforementioned criteria!

With that said, I'd like to lay down a few ground rules:

  • DO NOT BANDWAGON
    • Only let one person nominate a team.
    • There's no need to post here saying "I agree with this nomination". If I see any of this, your post will be deleted and possibly infracted.

  • JUSTIFY YOUR NOMINATION
    • This is self-explanatory. Explain why you nominated a team in a few brief sentences.

  • DO NOT NOMINATE YOUR OWN TEAMS
    • Please refrain from posting your own teams, if it deserves a spot it'll be nominated.

Here's the format for nominating teams. Failure to follow this format will result in your post being ignored:

Title of the Team: Team Whitewater
Justification: This team has been around basically since the inception of Doubles as an OM, and is, without a doubt, one of the most substantial and consistent team in the Doubles Metagame. I'd even go so far as to call it THE most consistent team. I have personally used it to win the first Dubz Minitour and have seen it used by so many users on the ladder and in private matches, that I feel it deserves a spot in the Archive, given its consistent success.

It's not flashy or extravagant in the slightest, and could go farther into explaining synergy, but it's honestly so simple that it doesn't really need it.
it's already in the archive to Pocket's request, sorry if I haven't updated the OP with the Doubles additions, but please check before nominating a team if it's already archived!!!

gonna do it now then, here are the Doubles teams we added (like 3 weeks ago?):

Title of the Team: Droughtfest

Justification: This is really a hallmark team for the bulky offense playstyle in Ubers. It boasts gargantuan offensive presence that allows it to break virtually any team to pieces, while still managing to hold its own defensively through the synergistically powerful Groudon+Ho-Oh+Palkia core backed by the bulky Calm Mind Arceus-Ghost. In addition to immense offensive and respectable defensive capability, it has all the roles that often distinguish the truly great Uber teams from the merely good ones (such as having a sleep absorber and a way to deal with hazards) covered. Finally, it features some uncommon sets (Earth Plate Groudon, Choice Specs Palkia, Choice Band Ho-Oh) to great effect and was one of the first teams to demonstrate the viability of Cloyster as a spinner and anti-lead for offensive Uber teams.

Is there any chance that FLCL's a cat is fine too could be placed on here? You can argue all you like about how good a team it is but it is nonetheless an historic RMT as it is the only team ever that has been directly responsible for a suspect discussion. (In other cases, RMTs have highlighted a particular Pokemon's awesome power in a metagame, but generally the suspect does not come until after people have used said Pokemon to expose its potential brokenness. Here, suspect discussion pretty much sprang up spontaneously in the replies to the thread.) If Liepard (or more likely Prankster + Assist) gets banned, then there is absolutely no argument that FLCL's RMT will have had a significant influence on the NU metagame, and possibly higher tiers too (since his team works pretty much the same in all tiers up to and including Ubers).

Title of the team: Lol1z VoltTurn team

Justification
: This UU team is a flagship team of user Lol1z, who has topped the ladder multiple times and most of the UU community has seen this with their own eyes. This team features the VoltTurn combination, with all of the pokemon using U-turn/Volt Switch, being able to keep a great deal of momentum to wreck the opponent's team. The sets and EVs are carefully planned in order to cater to the needs of the team, with novel sets such as -Speed Natures on a Tank for greater momentum from VoltSwitch/Uturns and special EVs to deal with the minor threats in the UU Metagame. Its synergy and polish has been tested against the sands of time and is clearly a viable candidate for entry into the RMT Archives.

Also, it looks good!

Title of the Team: The Power of Magnets

This was a team originally made by Molk during the nidoqueen meta and it still works today. If the archive is all about telling a story no team tells a better story than this one. Through Queen, through hail, in the current meta this team is still good. It utilizes a very standard FGW core with Lilligant, Emboar, Slowking, however it packs a punch, and the whole team supports a lilligant sweep fantastically. I used this team when i first started to learn RU and went 30-1 with it... The FGW core is also assisted by a very fast Druddigon which takes out other druddigons and Magneton for removing steel types. The team peaked #1 a few times for good reason. The fantastic synergy is a main reason why it was able to survive for a very long time.

Hiya, so personally I feel as though there's a distinct lack of post-hail RU teams archived atm, and if it's ok, I'd like to nom a few teams that I think reflect well upon that meta. Sorry if I'm doing something wrong / poorly here, I'm not that great at this sorta thing :[

Title of the Team: Flower Power

Justification: Cherub Agent's team makes an excellent example of a well-built balanced / bulky offense team in the post-hail RU metagame, showcasing some popular strategies and cores while implementing some unique changes to maintain a level of "surprise value". Not only does this team feature the core of Lilligant+Druddigon+Magneton, which was rapidly gaining popularity at the time (which can be attributed to the success of this team), but it takes the core a step further through the use of Grass Gem Lilligant, which facilitates the process of eliminating both its offensive and defensive checks. Selection such as Sleep Talk Druddigon, Magic Coat Golurk, and Alomomola do an excellent job "stabilizing" and supporting this, patching up potential issues with Pokemon such as Smeargle and opposing Lilligant, and providing the team an extra level of self-sustainability. The final selection, bulky Calm Mind Sigilyph, ties up the loose ends of the team nicely, offering a resilient weapon to combat stall (which accommodates the use of Choice Scarf Magneton, which struggles to trap Steelix, a mainstay on RU stall) and a secondary win condition to complement Lilligant.

Title of the Team: Burning Desire

Justification: HotNCold's team offers an interesting take on bulky offense, utilizing what he refers to a "Psychic spam". The goal of the team, as one might expect, is to overpower the limited pool of Psychic-type checks and counters available, which this team can achieve through numerous means. The primary method utilized is through simply overloading such Pokemon, for which HotNCold employs OTR Slowking and Calm Mind Sigilyph, two very flexible and potent Pokemon, capable of threatening a variety of playstyles between themselves. This process can be facilitated through the use of Pursuit on Escavalier, a concept that was popularized by the RMT Storm. Flame Orb Mesprit, the team's third and final Psychic-type, serves almost exclusively as support to achieve a Psychic-type sweep, with it's functions ranging from crippling potential checks with a burn to rejuvenating a potent threat with Healing Wish (a move that was quickly picking up mainstream attention). Druddigon, in addition to topping off a soft-Trick Room core alongside Slowking and Escavalier, provided the team a strong check to the everpresent FWG cores of the tier, while simultaneously pressuring Steel-types to get worn down by its attacks. Lastly, Choice Scarf Emboar emerges to cement itself further as one of the most consistent offensive "gluemons" of the tier, providing a Sleep absorber, Durant check, and late-game cleaner in one.

Title of the Team: Magic Mike n the Boys

Justification: Let's be real here; it's an august team, it was getting archived regardless of this nom n_n august's team takes a unique and refreshing approach to the familiar concept of Spike-stacking offense to great effect with his team. Forgoing Smeargle, the premier Spikes user of the archetype, august picks up the comparatively-unseen Garbador, whose ability to threaten both Kabutops and Cryogonal (the most consistent spinners of the tier) while retaining adequate bulk offers it a niche in this role. In doing so, the team aims to capitalize on Toxic Spikes, a hazard that spiked (ha) in usefulness with the ban of Nidoqueen, but had not been explored very much from an offensive outlook until this point. For this purpose, august utilizes a 4-piece core of Choice users, capable of battering down most defensive cores in tandem with hazards support, while adequately suppressing offense as well. Of course, within the team lie a variety of unique choices, including [Roar] Piloswine, Choice Scarf Crawdaunt, and bulky Choice Scarf Rotom, which keeps the opponents on their toes. This team also features the most aptly-nicknamed Emboar to come from this fine past-time, which alone should be sufficient for securing a place in the archive.

Needless to say they'e all successful in one respect or the other. I'm all too sure there are more solid examples, but I guess these in particular stood out to me :x Thanks for your time friends n_n

It has been quite a while since anything has been nominated, but I would like to make a couple of NU RMT nominations that I feel deserve Archiving!

Title of the Team: Wave Goodbye

Justification: Scorp's Wave Goodbye truly is the epitome of Spikes abuse. In NU, spikes are simply amazing, placing tons of pressure on an opponent. On top of this, Scorpdestroyer's team focuses on a core of Physical Simipour + Rain Dance Ludicolo. Ludicolo is one of the best sweepers (if not the best) in NU, but lacks ways of beating Roselia and Jynx, whom Simipour also normally has trouble beating. However, by running a physical AcroGem set, Simipour easily baits in, outspeeds, and OHKO's each one, relieving pressure off of Ludicolo's shoulders and maximizing it's efficiency in it's sweep, and giving it little to no problem running train through an opponent once such checks are gone. It also utilizes other uncommon moves to capitilize on an opponents weaknesses such as Hydro Pump on Physical Simipour for easier baiting and Brave Bird on Mandibuzz to better check fighting types. As a whole, this Bulky Offense team truly captures what it means to be on top of the Scoli-Jynx era, and really showed itself to be one of the most solid and reliable teams of the period.

Title of the Team: Chinese Tempest

Justification: Plus's team portrayed perfectly how scary Rapid-Spin supported hyper offense could be. In the past two[ish] months, Wartortle's usage has skyrocketed beyond belief, largely due to the strategy being employed in Chinese Tempest. While Wartortle itself is considered offensively a momentum suck, and defensively a one-time use utility mon, it can aid teams abusing Sashes and Rock-Weak pokemon in order to capitilize on their Offense, and not worry about itself. In Chinese Tempest, the three pokemon being abused are Scolipede, Jynx, and Charizard, widely considered the three best offensive pokemon in NU. However, normally no more than two of them are used on a single team at once, due to their stacked weaknesses to common entry hazards and moves. Wartortle solidifies this offensive core and acts as the glue of the team, creating a clean field for three wall-breakingly powerful pokemon the come in safely into and simply destroy everything in sight. Wartortle's surprisingly utility is really what makes this All-Out Attacking offense come together and click.

Title of the Team: Otter Time

Justification: Dat Blast's team is a unique take on hyper offense, and employs a solid FWG core alongside the common Psychic Spam strategy to overwhelm the team with powerful attacks. This team is especially unique in the sets it runs, abusing the rather uncommon Offensive Pivot Roselia to sleep unwary opponents, absorb status, and have a more threatning stance against opposing grass and water types that standard Roselia simply cannot hold. Another unseen set is RestoChesto Rott, which unlike standard Samurott, can abuse it's bulk more effectively, being able to fall back on a recovery option in Rest and to easily reach +6 against Defensive and Offensive teams alike, and proceed to blitz through with no questions asked. Finally, Dat Blast aids this powerful sweeper with Sleep Talk Specs Charizard, the most threatning wallbreaker in the tier by it's own name, which now cannot even be stopped via sleep. Pair this offensive FWG core with the common Jynx + Musharna core to destroy the common Fighting types of the tier, and this team becomes quite difficult for any single combination of pokemon to handle.

Cased

Banned deucer.
Team: ßasedVictory Sucks

Justification: Not only is the title 100% true, Soulgazer's team utilizes an incredible underrated set in BP SD Leafeon, while using sets that gained a lot more recognition during SPL like bulky Golurk/Rindo SD Samurott/Explosion Skuntank. Being a Baton Pass team, this team functions incredibly well even if Leafeon dies or is unable to Baton Pass a Substitute or a Swords Dance to any of the viable recipients. This team really sums up the end metagame of NU with all the sets that were once never utilized to the extent that they were utilized towards the end of BW2 NU. Not much to really say, great team using a set that didn't get much usage in the earlier metagames, and it sums up the metagame pretty damn well.

(I swear I'm not that bad)

BW NU

Team
: Ainsley Harriot's Fresh and Fabulous SPL Team in Minutes, by ßasedVictory

Justification: Cased's team is a nearly flawless "Normal spam" build - a hyper-offensive strategy that stacks powerful Normal-types together to overpower opponents. While other variants of Normal spam have been made and shown off before, Cased's is unique because it can handle virtually any team style thrown at it through sheer force and smart play alone. The use of Gothorita in this team is also impeccable; Kangaskhan, Zangoose, and Swellow are all beaten by physically defensive Pokemon like Alomomola, Regirock, and Gurdurr, and Gothorita traps and KOes each one effortlessly. If somebody new to the tier were to ask for an easy-to-use team that can pull out wins in every matchup, Cased's Ainsley Harriot's Fresh and Fabulous SPL Team in Minutes is the first team I'd direct them to.

Shorten the fucking name tho. -.-
