How do you stay sane while breeding?

I'm going to have to try some of the strategies in this thread, since I have to breed one thousand Magikarps in Diamond to get a Mew from Ranch.
Just catch Bidoofs/Starlies with Dusk Balls; it's way faster. Use the Luck Incense and battle the two old trainers on Route 212 North with the VS Seeker if you need money to buy Pokeballs.

A lot of times I'll find some playlist of Let's Plays/A really long Let's Play on Youtube and just breed while listening to that. It just makes the time - and eggs - fly right by, for some reason. I'm sure I'll get through a lot of videos while breeding for a 5IV Flygon o_o

Pokemon isn't a game that's played on it's own, especially when you're breeding. It doesn't take me long to breed a perfect egg, but when I'm doing it I'm often listening to music, watching Netflix, or he'll even playing randbats lol

Listen to music, post on forums, find trades, and watch porn some dumb alien investigation show.

Just get 999 Quick Balls and go to Route 201. Make a daily goal, something like 100 Pokémon a day. Or just get them all at once

Considering my immense love for yandere, I know I'm not sane.
But to prevent myself from going even further down the rabbit hole, I do many things:
1) Music (I have a ton to choose from, though I save the classic Pokémon theme for EV training)
2) Netflix (time to watch Doctor Who)
3) YouTube (Love watching videos about Pokémon, especially stuff that relates to competitive battling)

To tell the truth, I almost went insane breeding my first Pokémon in Y. I caught a few Ghost-types from Friend Safari, but it took 4 different inital parents (not counting the "Oh, this one has 1 more perfect IV!) to produce my Gengar. Also, the Haunter wasn't anywhere near perfect. It took me two straight days (and over 150 eggs) to accomplish that.
Luckily, before I continued, I got a Friend Safari with Ditto, so that helped (Led me to breed a perfect Eevee which is now my Vaporeon). Finally, I got a 6 perfect IV Ditto with Jolly nature (which makes life a little easier) from a friend, so I'm good now.

By not breeding and playing Showdown u.u
No but in all seriousness, I don't breed very often. When I do though, I prefer to listen to music and just let myself bike!

Music. Music, music, music.
Oh, and ChuggaConroy. That helps. (Still can't say perfectly sane tho... No one can.)

I'm not sure what's worse, actually breeding or the training that follows after you've finally hatched what you want. I mean they're both pretty mindless but I find breeding to be somewhat fast paced, with all the biking, flying, talking to the IV checker... EV training isn't so bad either unless the wrong horde pops up repeatedly. But it's not until you've completed these first 2 steps that it gets mind numbing; grinding at le wow. Level grinding is really the only thing that actually drives me insane in any Pokemon game! Sure you get the lucky egg but you only have one (I tried farming them in the friend safari but after about 50 lucky punches I gave up), you can increase your experience gain by raising your 'mons affection in Amie but that's super tedious when you're not doing it for fun.

I've legit been putting off breeding lately just because I dread the training that soon follows...

I usually watch TV or a movie at the same time, but I make sure to take a break once in a while and do something else in game, whether its hatching eggs for my pokedex or just raising some money in the battle maison. Dominating those trainers helps me relax :p.

I have to agree training is the most mind-numbing part. But usually I just go to Le Wow with a full team and collect a ton of money while leveling up heaps, and then going the rest of the way with rare candies from the Global Link
