OU Porygon2

Overview
########
Porygon2 is a very quirky Pokemon, but it pulls its weight of 71.6 pounds with honorvirtues in many different roles. It has a decent defensive typing and solid coverage to handle many threats effectively. Access to Eviolite gives it sky-high defensive stats, and it has moderately high Special Attack to boot. Its great abilities also help it in many ways. Trace is a phenomenal walling ability, and with proper switching can grant Porygon2 even better abilities likesuch as Protean or Intimidate. The virtual duck is not without its flaws, however. It has a low Speed stat and, so it is prone to being inflicted with status. Its reliance on the Eviolite takes away passive recovery from Leftovers. Porygon2's Normal typing gives it a Ghost immunity, but that comes coupled with a weakness to Fighting, one of the most common attacking types in the tier. Overall, Porygon2 is an advanced potent threat both defensively and offensively (especially with its coverage), and is easy to fit into a team.

evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
nature: Calm

Moves:
========
BoltBeam provides at least neutral coverage against nearly all opponents and when used with Porygon2's highdecent Special Attack, both moves pack decent damage. Shadow Ball helps deal with the many Sspecial Aattackers weak to the Ghost-type, as well as providing a strong hit on Aegislash, since this set takes significantly more damage from Sacred Sword. A status move can be used in this slot instead, for more stall-oriented needs. Toxic wears down many attackers, while Thunder Wave can help slow them down so that Porygon2 and other team members outspeed. Recover is almost a necessity as it is Porygon2's only way to regain HP.

Set Details
========
The Calm nature and EV's maximizes Special Defense. Eviolite is, as on any set for Porygon2, a necessity because of the bulk it affordprovides. Trace is used as the Aability to steal your opponent's options, which are often helpful. In this case Porygon2 is more likely to get Abilities like Sheer Force that can help it.

Usage Tips
========
Porygon2, by virtue of its bulk, can switch into almost any Special Attacker and not be 2HKO'd, even against ones as powerful as Mega Charizard Y. Thus, it can be used as a panacea for Sspecial Aattackers, spreading status, by walling these Pokemon, spreading status, and attacking with gomodest power. It's necessary to use Recover often so you don't get worn down by powerful attacks and entry hazards. Porygon2 still has the physical bulk to take Psyshocks and weaker physical attacks, and can pivot, but it will be worn down if it does so. Porygon2 can utilize Trace is a very powerfulto take advantage of the opponents ability and makes it easy (and in fact sometimes beneficial) for Porygon2 , with possible scenarios including switching into take STAB attacks from Vaporeon, Houndoom, and ArcaninHeatran's Lava Plume, among othersor Gliscor's Toxic.

Team Options
========
A Rapid Spinn or Defog users such as Excadrill or Defogger such as, Mandibuzz, Latias, Zapdos, or Skarmory isare recommended to keep entry hazards off of the field so Porygon2 is not worn down. A bulky Pokemon which resists the Fighting resist-type, such as Landorus-T, is also important to handle thoese attackersPokemon which trouble Porygon2. Cleric support from Clefable or Sylveon is very nice since Porygon2 has no way to deal with status. Fairy-types have good synergy in general as they resist Fighting-type attacks and Porygon2 can easily take most neutral special attacks aimed at them.

Moves
========
Again, Thunderbolt and Ice Beam are used, as they are reasonably powerful, and few thingsPokemon resist both moves, allowing Porygon2 to hit most opponents neutrally. Recover is an absolute necessity for this set, because it allows Porygon2 to stall poisoned opponents out and, more importantly, to heal itself., as Porygon2 can't heal itself with Leftovers, so Recover is needed. Either Toxic or Thunder Wave can be used as the status move, but Toxic is generally better because of the passive damage it inflicts.

Set Details
========
Trace is the best Aability for this set, because itPorygon2 can get access toreceive many wonderful Aabilities through wit. Flash Fire on Houndoom before Mega Evolution renders it about useless against Trace, for instance. Analytic is also an option for increased damage output, but lessens Porygon2's walling capabilities. It', so it is not slashed due to Trace's general superiority. The Bold nature, together with this EV spread, makes Porygon2's defenses even more ridiculous at no cost to Porygon2it.

Usage Tips
========
This version of Porygon2 can force switches, deal damage, and spread status. In a pinch, this set can be used as a pivot, as well. This set counters mixed Aegislash, Salamence, and Haxorus and stops Garchomp in its tracks. It is necessary to predict with Recover, since Porygon2 is outsped by most things. It's not recommended to switch Porygon2 into weakstrong attacks since it can be worn down by hazards very quickly this way. Porygon2 still has great mixed bulk with this set, so it can still take moderately powerful Sspecial Aattacks as well.

A Rapid Spinner such as Excadrill or Defogger such as Mandibuzz, Latias, Zapdos, or Skarmory is recommended to keep hazards off so Porygon2 is not worn down. A bulky Fighting resist such as Landorus-T is also important to handle those attackers. Cleric support from Clefable or Sylveon is very nice since Porygon2 has no way to deal with status. Fairy-types have good synergy in general as they resist Fighting-type attacks and Porygon2 can easily take most neutral attacks.

Moves:
========
Porygon2 can also run a radically different set from the previous two. Its low Speed coupled with its high Special Attack makes it a very powerful Trick Room sweeper. The first slots (beyond the self-explanatory Trick Room) boosare coverage that allow Porygon2's to sweeping capabilities. on its own; BoltBeam is a classic and never fails. Keep in mind that this variant of Porygon2 is strictly offensive. TIn the last moveslot, one can be filled with either use Recover for healing, or Tri Attack as a STAB move. Shadow Ball could also be used here to hit Ghost-types, but it's not recommended. Hidden Power Fire is an excellent coverage opportunity to hit the very common Steel-types in the tier. You may want to run Recover over one of eithe twor Thunderbolt or Ice BoltBeam moves if you want healing ands well as coverage.

Set Details
========
This EV spread neglects defensive investment (which are already huge with the Eviolite)in exchange for full-on sweeping capabilities. The Quiet nature drops speed, but this is useful for Trick Room. Trace is a great Ability, because many pPokemon that Porygon2 may come up against have abilities that grant immunities to their own types likesuch as Flash Fire on Heatran. Download is also helpful to improve your chances of sweeping. Analytic is not helpful since the goal of Trick Room is to move first.

Usage Tips
========
Porygon2 makes a reliable setter of Trick Room throughout the game, so it should be preserved to do this multiple times. It can also deal gomodest damage under Trick Room and, while still being able to handles many attacks. This is more of a support Pokemon for Trick Room teams, but it can't be used a sponge for powerful attacks.

Team Options
========
Reuniclus is another good Trick Room sweeper that works well with Porygon2. Conkeldurr is a goodfast tank in Trick Room and, so it appreciates the support as wellprovided by Porygon2's own Trick Room. Escavalier is an effective Pursuit trapper and has an extremely high Attack stat in general along with abysmal Speed, making it a great fit. Mega Abomasnow has good bulk and high Aattacking stats and works wellwhile also being a slow Pokemon, but its Hhail can wear down Porygon2. A few Pokemon that work outside of Trick Room like Garchomp are also necessary, though.

Other Options
########
Porygon2 is such a versatile pokemon that there isn't much it can't do. The three sets listed are its most popular, but feel free to use any set that fulfills whatever niche spot youyou require that Porygon2 can't find a match for provide. One especially notable alternate move for Porygon2 is Foul Play. It provides coverage, and it is well as counteringalso handy against opponents with higher base Attack than Porygon2stats. On the defensive sets, Conversion 2 deserves a mention because it can give Porygon2 useful resistances to moves used by Choice-locked Pokemovesn. This could be used on an Analytic sweeper set with BoltBeam and Recover. Psyshock can be used instead of Thunderbolt or Ice Beam if special defenderstanks such as Conkeldurr are proving a lot of trouble, but this sacrifices the much more useful coverage that either Thunderbolt or Ice Beam powerrovides. Discharge can also be used on any set except Trick Room for the paralysis chance, and Tri Attack can be used on defensive sets if you want a STAB attack.

Checks & Counters

**Fighting-Type Pokemon and Moves**: The Fighting-type is a ridiculously common offensive type, both for powerfulresent as STABs on the popular Breloom, Keldeo, Terrakion, and Conkeldurr, or and others, and in conjunction withs coverage in the ubiquitous coverage moveform of Focus Blast for many special attackers such as Gengar. As Porygon2 has trouble taking out bulkyis weak to the Fighting-Ttypes, and can usually be outsped and 2HKOed by Landorus and its ilk of Focus Blast userthese Pokemon make effective checks.

**Taunt**: Taunt prevents Porygon2 from using Recovering and setting up Trick Room. This prevents Porygon2 from what is successentiafully executing its essence:main role: a defensive tanking hits. Without any form of recovery due to its Eviolite reliance, Porygon2 must either switch or hope not to die after being Taunted. Trick Room is also renderinflicted null if it can't be usedwith Taunt.

**Trick, Knock Off, and Switcheroo**: Porygon2 is absolutely reliant on the Eviolite to work in any given situation, and any one of these three commonly seen moves can eliminate the item in an instant. Thus, Porygon2 should not stay in and hope to be successful against any known enemies withknown to use one of these moves.

**Status**: Porygon2 often sees itself afflicted with status, and without a teammate with Heal Bell, it cannot get rid of it. Porygon2 can't use the Lum Berry, it can't use Psycho Shift, anddue to Eviolite so it can't do anything to get rid of the poison that hurtdecreases it so oftes lifespan.

Without any form of recovery due to its Eviolite reliance, Porygon2 must either switch or hope not to die after being inflicted with the Taunt status.

**Trick, Knock Off, and Switcheroo**: Porygon2 is absolutely reliant on the Eviolite to work in any given situation, and any one of these three commonly seen moves can eliminate the item in an instant. Thus, Porygon2 should not stay in and hope to be successful against any enemies known to commonly run one of these moves.

**Status**: Porygon2 often sees itself afflicted with status, and without a teammate with Heal Bell, it cannot get rid of it. Porygon2 can't use Lum Berry due to its reliance on the Eviolite, so it is helpless to poison, which will slowly whittle away at its lifespan.

Well written analysis!

Oh I made a few errors! They are under the "Moves" section. Sorry for the mistakes!

Moves:
========
BoltBeam provides at least neutral coverage against nearly all opponents, and when used with Porygon2's respectable Special Attack, both moves pack quite a punch (Delete the space here! --->) . The next move, Shadow Ball, helps deal with the many special attackers weak to the Ghost-type,(<--- Delete this comma!). It also hits Aegislash for super effective damage, however Porygon2 takes significant damage from Sacred Sword. A status move can also be used in this slot instead for more stall-oriented needs. Toxic wears down many attackers, while Thunder Wave can help slow them down so that Porygon2 and other team members outspeed the opposing Pokemon. Recover is a necessity as it is Porygon2's only option to regain HP.

I'll make a copy and paste just in case you don't see it!

The A Calm nature and thise given EV spread maximize Special Defense. Eviolite is, as on any set for Porygon2, a necessity because of the bulk it provides. Trace is used as an ability which can steal your opponent's options, which is often helpful.

Usage Tips

Porygon2, by virtue of its bulk, can switch into almost any Special Attacker and not be 2HKOed, even against ones as powerful as Mega Charizard Y. Thus, it can be used as a panacea for special attackers, by walling these Pokemon, spreading status, and attacking with moderate power. It's necessary to use Recover often so you Porygon2 doesn't get worn down by powerful attacks and entry hazards. Porygon2 still has the physical bulk to take Psyshocks and weaker physical attacks, and can pivot, but it will be worn down if it does so. Porygon2 can utilize Trace to take advantage of its opponent's ability, allowing it to take STAB attacks from Vaporeon, Houndoom, and Arcanine, among others. Heatran's Lava Plume and Gliscor's Toxic, which would otherwise be threatening moves, are also both shut down by Trace.

A Rapid Spin user such as Excadrill or Defog user such as Mandibuzz, Latias, Zapdos, or Skarmory are recommended to keep entry hazards off the field so Porygon2 is not worn down. Cleric support from Clefable or Sylveon is very nice since as Porygon2 has no way to deal with status. Again, Thunderbolt and Ice Beam are used.(Remove period) as they are reasonably powerful and also because few things resist both moves, allowing Porygon2 to hit most opponents neutrally. Recover is an absolute necessity for this set as it allows Porygon2 to stall poisoned opponents out, and more importantly, to heal itself. Since Because Porygon2 is holding Eviolite, it can't heal itself with Leftovers. Either Toxic or Thunder Wave can be used as the status move in the last slot,;(Remove comma)(Add semicolon) however,(AC) Toxic is generally a better choice because of the passive damage it inflicts.

Trace is the best ability for this set, as it can allow Porygon2 to get access to many wonderful abilities. Analytic is another option for increased damage output, but lessens Porygon2's walling capabilities, so it is not slashed due to Trace's general superiority. The Bold nature, together with thise given EV spread, makes Porygon2's defenses even more ridiculous solid at no cost at all.

This version of Porygon2 set can force switches, deal damage, and spread status. In a pinch, this set it can be used as a pivot,(Remove comma) as well. Porygon2 still has great mixed bulk with this set, so it can still take moderately powerful special attacks as well.

Porygon2 can also run a radically different set from the previous two.,(Remove period)(AC) as its low Speed coupled with its high Special Attack makes it a very powerful Trick Room sweeper. The first slots, beyond the self-explanatory Trick Room, are coverage moves that allow Porygon2 to sweep on its own. BoltBeam is a classic and never fails. Keep in mind that this variant of Porygon2 is strictly offensive.(This sentence seems out of place here, but maybe it's just me) In the last moveslot, one Porygon2 can use either Recover for healing or Tri Attack as a STAB move. Shadow Ball could also be used here to hit Ghost-types, but it's not recommended. Hidden Power Fire is an excellent coverage move, having the opportunity to hit the very common Steel-types in the tier. You may want to run Recover over either Thunderbolt or Ice Beam if you want healing and coverage.

This EV spread neglects defensive investment (the Porygon2's defenses are already huge superb with the Eviolite) in exchange for full-on sweeping capabilities. The Quiet nature drops speed, but this which is useful for Trick Room. Trace is a great ability, because many Pokemon that Porygon2 may come up against have abilities that grant immunities to their own types, such as Flash Fire on Heatran. Download is also helpful to improve your chances of sweeping. Analytic is not helpful as the goal of Trick Room is to move first.

Usage Tips
========
(Add space)
Porygon2 makes a reliable setter of Trick Room throughout the game, so it should be preserved to do this multiple times. It can also deal modest damage under Trick Room, while still handling many attacks. This is more of a support Pokemon for Trick Room teams, but it can still be used as a sponge for powerful attacks.

Team Options

Reuniclus is another good Trick Room sweeper that works well with Porygon2. Conkeldurr is a fast tank in Trick Room, so it appreciates the support from Porygon2's own Trick Room as well. Escavalier is an effective Pursuit trapper and has an extremely high Attack stat along with abysmal Speed, making it a great fit. Mega Abomasnow has good bulk and high attacking stats while also being quite slow, but its hail can wear down Porygon2. A few Pokemon that work outside of Trick Room like Garchomp are also necessary, though.

Other Options
########
(Add line)
Porygon2 is such a versatile pokemon that there isn't much it can't do. The three sets listed are its most popular, but feel free to use any set that fulfills whatever niche you need that Porygon2 can provide. One especially notable alternate move for Porygon2 is Foul Play. It provides coverage, and it is also handy against opponents with higher base Attack stats. On the defensive sets, Conversion 2 deserves a mention because it can give Porygon2 useful resistances to moves used by Choice-locked Pokemon. This could be used on an Analytic sweeper set with BoltBeam and Recover. Psyshock can be used instead of Thunderbolt or Ice Beam if special tanks such as Conkeldurr are proving a lot of trouble, but this sacrifices the much more useful coverage of Electric- and Ice-type moves as well as some power. Discharge can also be used on any set except Trick Room for the paralysis chance.

Checks & Counters

**Fighting-Type Pokemon and Moves**: The Fighting-type is a common offensive type, present as STAB on the popular Breloom, Terrakion, Keldeo, and Conkeldurr as well as coverage in Focus Blast for Gengar, Mega Ampharos, and other special attackers. As Porygon2 is weak to the Fighting-type, these Pokemon make effective checks.

**Taunt**: Taunt prevents Porygon2 from using Recover and setting up Trick Room. This prevents Porygon2 from executing its primary function as a tank. Without any form of recovery due to its Eviolite reliance, Porygon2 must either switch out or hope not to die be KO'd after being inflicted with the Taunt status.

The trick room set could maybe have Tank bracketed into its name as that is effectively what it is.

WHERE IS DISCHARGE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??

It definitely deserves a Set Details mention, if not a slash, on both sets.
I put it in Other Options. The defensive sets don't really benefit as much from Discharge as they have in previous generations and paralysis is bad for Trick Room. I may mention it in the Specially Defensive set- heck, why not? Done.

I am curious why there is no mention of Magic Coat anywhere. I understand its applications are limited but it certainly has a surprise factor and could potentially be very beneficial in reflecting telegraphed hazards, and status.

Other Options maybe... it's just that Porygon2 benefits so much more from its other moves and can be supported by a Smeargle or Espeon to the extent that Magic Coat becomes almost redundant.

you copy/pasted the team options. that's pretty damn lazy and looks bad, but more to the point...why didn't you have anything different to say? Where's the mention of physical walls to support the SpD set, or special walls to support the Phys. D set?

Can you please at least know what you're talking about before using terms like 'popular' and 'common'? I shouldn't have the urge to greentext in my comments. By the way, read those. Hard.

Fairy-types have good synergy with Porygon2 in general, as they resist Fighting-type attacks and Porygon2 can easily take most neutral special attacks aimed at them.

Physically Defensive
########

move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Recover
move 4: Toxic / Thunder Wave
ability: Trace
item: Eviolite
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
nature: Bold

Moves
========

Thunderbolt and Ice Beam are used because they are reasonably powerful and few things resist both moves, allowing Porygon2 to hit most opponents neutrally. Recover is an absolute necessity for this set, as it allows Porygon2 to stalheal poisoned opponents out, and morelf importantly, to heal itself. Because Porygon2 is holding Eviolite, it can't heal itself with Leftoversd stall poisoned opponents out. Either Toxic or Thunder Wave can be used in the last slot; keep in mind that Toxic is generally a better choice because of the passive damage it inflicts.

Set Details
========

Trace is the best ability for this set, as it can allow Porygon2 to get access to many wonderful abilities. Analytic is another option for increased damage output, but lessens Porygon2's walling capabilities, so it is not slashed due to Trace's general superiority. The Bold nature, together with the given EV spread, makes Porygon2's defenses even more solid at no cost at all.

Usage Tips
========

This set can force switches, deal damage, and spread status. In a pinch, this set can be used as a pivot as well. This set counters mixed Aegislash, Salamence, and Haxorus, and stops Garchomp in its tracks. It is necessary to predict with Recover, as Porygon2 is outsped by most things. It's not recommended to switch Porygon2 into strong attacks, because it can be worn down by hazards very quickly this way. Porygon2 still has great mixed bulk with this set, so it can still take moderately powerful special attacks from Pokemon such as mixed Nidoking and Clefable as well.

Team Options
========

A Rapid Spin user such as Excadrill or Defog user such as Mandibuzz, Latias, Zapdos, or Skarmory are recommended to keep entry hazards off the field so Porygon2 is not worn down as easily. A bulky Pokemon which resists the Fighting-type, such as Landorus-T or Mega Venusaur, is also important to handle those Pokemon which threaten Porygon2. Cleric support from Clefable or Sylveon is very nice as Porygon2 has no way to deal with status. Fairy-types have good synergy with Porygon2 overall, as they resist Fighting-type attacks, and Porygon2 can easily take most neutral physical attacks aimed at them.

Trick Room [Support Tank]
########
name: Trick Room [Support Tank]
move 1: Trick Room
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Thunderbolt
move 4: Recover / Tri Attack / Hidden Power Fire
ability: Trace / Download
item: Eviolite
nature: Quiet
evs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD

Moves
========

Porygon2 can also run a radically different set from the previous ,two as its low Speed coupled with its high Special Attack, makes it a very powerful Trick Room sweeper. The first slots, beyond therick Room is self-explanatory Trick Room, are coverage moves that allow Porygon2 to sweep on its own.while BoltBeam is a classic and never fails. In the last moveslot, Porygon2 can use either Recover for healing, or Tri Attack as a STAB move resisted by only two types. Shadow Ball could also be used here to hit Ghost-types, but it's not recommended. Hidden Power Fire is an excellent coverage move, having the opportunity to hititting the very common Steel-types in the tier, such as Scizor and Ferrothorn. You may want to run Recover over either Thunderbolt or Ice Beam if you want healing and STAB or coverage against Steel-types.

Set Details
========

This EV spread neglects defensive investment (Porygon2's defenses are already superiorgreat with Eviolite) in exchange for full-on sweeping capabilities. The Quiet nature drops sSpeed and raises Special Attack, which is useful for Trick Room sweeping. Trace is a great ability, because many Pokemon that Porygon2 may come up against have abilities that grant immunities to their own types, such as Flash Fire on Heatran. Download is also helpful to improve your chances of sweeping. Analytic is not helpful, as the goal of Trick Room is to move first.

Usage Tips
========

Porygon2 makes a reliable setter of Trick Room throughout the game, so it should be preserved to do this multiple times. It can also deal modest damage under Trick Room, while still handling many attacks. This is more of a support Pokemon for Trick Room teams, butso it can still be used as a sponge for powerful attacks.

Team Options
========

A few Pokemon that work outside of Trick Room, like Garchomp are also necessary, though.

Other Options
########

Porygon2 is such a versatile pPokemon that there isn't much it can't do. The three sets listed are its most popular, but feel free to use any set that fulfills whatever niche you need that Porygon2 can provide. One especially notable alternate move for Porygon2 is Foul Play. It provides coverage, and it is also handy against opponents with higher base Attack stats than Porygon2's, which is low. On the defensive sets, Conversion 2 deserves a mention, because it can give Porygon2 useful resistances to moves used by Choice-locked Pokemon. This could be used on an Analytic sweeper set with BoltBeam and Recover. Psyshock can be used instead of Thunderbolt or Ice Beam if special tanks such as Conkeldurr are proving a lot of trouble, but this sacrifices the much more useful coverage of Electric- and Ice-type moves, as well as some power. Discharge can also be used on any set except Trick Room, for the paralysis chance.

Checks & Counters
########

**Fighting-Type Pokemon and Moves**: The Fighting-type is a common offensive type, present as STAB on the popular Breloom, Terrakion, Keldeo, Lucario, and Conkeldurr as well as coverage in Focus Blast for Gengar, Mega Ampharos, and other special attackers. As Porygon2 is weak to the Fighting-type, these Pokemon make effective checks. Even mixed sweepers occasionally run Focus Blast or Superpower, so be wary.

**Taunt**: Taunt prevents Porygon2 from using Recover or status moves and setting up Trick Room. This prevents Porygon2 from executing its primary function as a tank. Without any form of recovery due to its Eviolite reliance, Porygon2 must either switch out or hope not to faint after being inflicted with the Taunt status.

Porygon2 can't use Lum Berry due to its reliance on Eviolite, so it is helpless against Toxic poison, which will slowly whittle away at its lifespan.

Comments:

When talking about trace it makes no sense to say 'even better' abilities;trace as an ability only gives you a different ability, so any ability is 'better' than it.

You say both its abilities help in the overview but then never mention the other ones.

Being fast doesn't make you less susceptible to status, generally speaking. Unless it's fast and powerful, but that's not really pory2's bag even if it did have the speed to pull it off.

Tracing Poison Heal and getting Toxic'd is great...until you're forced out and then can't switch into anything else. So maybe you ought to mention that?

Lando-T sucks against a lot of common fighting-types, such as Conkeldurr (ice punch), Keldeo (Hydro Pump, Scald), and even Megacham (ice punch). It takes Terrakion and that's about it. I decided to just write in Megasaur as another example, which conveniently takes the last two quite nicely (megacham is a whole nother story)

Second set doesn't explain why to use T-wave;obviously we know why but you gotta say SOMETHING.

Who the hell uses Mixed Nidoking? Also you can take attacks from max SpA Nidoking so no reason to elaborate now.

NJ copypasting your team options for both sets. Even if you're going to say the same stuff, say it differently god damn it.

Porygon2 isn't that powerful of a TR sweeper, it doesn't even always have a STAB move to sweep with or a boost. It's mostly TR support that can also do some damage at need.

There are only two relevant Steel-types that Hidden Power Fire hits, since you've got Thunderbolt and anyhow Skarmory is not really trying to wall a porygon2. So i just listed those two.

...superior to what? Superior means 'better than', so if you don't say 'better than (some pokemon), it just comes off sounding really dumb. I get that it's supposed to mean better than (most pokemon in general) but it's still dumb.

OH GOD these checks and counters. Breloom is not popular and neither is Lucario;breloom is kinda popular in lower ranks but not with good players. No one uses Mega Ampharos so it's a crap example, and even it doesn't necessarily use Focus Blast (that is its best attack in the fourth slot, but it can also run Heal Bell or Rest.) And "mixed sweepers use Focus Blast"? Which ones? NAME SOME, because i can't think of any. Of course, a lot of mixed sweepers such as Thundurus, Tornadus, Tornadus-T, Deoxys-S, and even Hydreigon all use Superpower, so that's a legitimate mention.

amcheck

you copy/pasted the team options. that's pretty damn lazy and looks bad, but more to the point...why didn't you have anything different to say? Where's the mention of physical walls to support the SpD set, or special walls to support the Phys. D set?

Can you please at least know what you're talking about before using terms like 'popular' and 'common'? I shouldn't have the urge to greentext in my comments. By the way, read those. Hard.

Overview
########

Porygon2 is a very quirky Pokemon, but it pulls its weight of 71.6 pounds with virtues in many different roles. It has a decent defensive typing, as well as solid coverage to handle many threats effectively. Access to Eviolite gives it sky-high defensive stats, and it has a moderately high Special Attack to boot. Its great abilities also help it in many ways. Trace is a phenomenal walling ability, and with proper switching, it can grant Porygon2 even bettergreat abilities, such as Protean or Intimidate. However, the virtual duck is not without its flaws. Porygon2 has a low Speed stat, and so is prone to being afflicted by status, and its reliance on Eviolite takes away passive recovery from Leftovers. Porygon2's Normal typing gives it a Ghost immunity, but that comes coupled with a weakness to Fighting, one of the most common attacking types in the tier. Overall, Porygon2 is an effective threat both defensively and offensively, especially with its coverage, and is easy to fit into a team.

Moves

BoltBeam provides at least neutral coverage against nearly all opponents, and when used with Porygon2's respectable Special Attack, both moves pack quite a punch. Discharge is another potent move that can replace Thunderbolt if need be. The next move, Shadow Ball, helps deal with the many special attackers weak to the Ghost-type. It also hits, and Aegislash for super effective damage; however, Porygon2 takes significant damage from Sacred Sword. A status move can also be used in this slot instead for more stall-oriented needs. Toxic wears down many attackers and walls, while Thunder Wave can help slow them down so that Porygon2 and other team members outspeed the opposing Pokemon. Recover is a necessity as it is Porygon2's only option to regain HP.

It's necessary to use Recover often so Porygon2 doesn't get worn down by powerful attacks and entry hazards, as well as Toxic. The first slots, beyond the self-explanatory Trick Room, are coverage moves that allow Porygon2 to sweep on its own. BoltBeam is a classic and never fails. In the last moveslot, Porygon2 can use either Recover for healing or Tri Attack as a STAB move resisted by only two types.

This EV spread neglects defensive investment (Porygon2's defenses are already superiorsuperb with Eviolite as it is) in exchange for full-on sweeping capabilities. TheA Quiet nature drops speed, which is useful for Trick Room. Trace is a great ability, because many Pokemon that Porygon2 may come up against have abilities that grant immunities to their own types, such as Flash Fire on Heatran. Download is also helpful to improve your chances of sweeping. Analytic is not helpful as the goal of Trick Room is to move first, although it can catch switch-ins.

Usage Tips
========

Porygon2 makes a reliable setter of Trick Room throughout the game, so it should be preserved to do this multiple times. It can also deal modest damage under Trick Room, while still handling many attacks. This isvariation of Porygon2 is more of a support Pokemon for Trick Room teams, but it can still be used as a sponge for powerful attacks.

Team Options
========

########

Porygon2 is such a versatile pokemon that there isn't much it can't do. The three sets listed are its most popular, but feel free to use any set that fulfills whatever niche you need that Porygon2 can provide. One especially notable alternate move for Porygon2 is Foul Play. It provides coverage, and it is also handy against opponents with higher base Attack stats than Porygon2's, which is low.

Even mixed sweepers occasionally run Focus Blast, so be wary.

**Taunt**: Taunt prevents Porygon2 from using Recover and setting up Trick Room. This prevents Porygon2 from executing its primary function as a tank. Without any form of recovery due to its EvioliteRecovery reliance, Porygon2 must either switch out or hope not to faint after being inflicted with the Taunt status.

Porygon2 can't use Lum Berry due to its reliance on Eviolite, so it is helpless to poison, which will slowly whittle away at its lifespan.

Overview
########

Porygon2 is a very quirky Pokemon, but it pulls its weight of 71.6 pounds with virtues in many different roles. It has a decent defensive typing as well as solid coverage to handle many threats effectively. Access to (all Pokemon get access to every item) Eviolite gives it sky-high defensive stats, and it has a moderately high Special Attack to boot. Trace is a phenomenal walling ability, and with proper switching, it can grant Porygon2 fantastic abilities such as Protean or Intimidate. However, the virtual duck is not without its flaws. Porygon2 has a low Speed stat, is prone to being afflicted by status, and its reliance on Eviolite takes away passive recovery from Leftovers. Porygon2's Normal typing gives it a Ghost immunity, but that comes coupled with a weakness to Fighting, one of the most common attacking types in the tier. Overall, Porygon2 is an effective threat both defensively and offensively, especially with its coverage, and is easy to fit into almost any team.

Specially Defensive

name: Specially Defensive

move 3: Shadow Ball / Thunder Wave / Toxic
move 4: Recover

nature: Calm

Moves
========

BoltBeam provides at least neutral coverage against nearly all opponents, and when backed up by used with Porygon2's respectable Special Attack, both moves pack quite a punch. Discharge is another potent move that can replace Thunderbolt for the 30% paralysis chance if need be. The next move, (RC) Shadow Ball, (RC) helps deal with the many special attackers weak to the Ghost-type moves, and hits Aegislash for super effective damage; however, Porygon2 takes significant damage from Aegislash's Sacred Sword. A status move can also be used in this slot instead for more stall-oriented needs. Toxic wears down many attackers and walls, while Thunder Wave can help slows them down faster Pokemon so that Porygon2 and other team members outspend it the opposing Pokemon. Recover is a necessity, (AC) as it is Porygon2's only option to way of regaining HP.

Set Details

Usage Tips
========

Porygon2, by virtue of its bulk, can switch into almost any special attacker with ease Special Attacker and not be 2HKOed, even ones as powerful as Mega Charizard Y. Thus, it can should be used as a panacea solution for special attackers, (RC) by walling these Pokemon, spreading status, and attacking with moderate power. It's necessary to use Recover often so Porygon2 doesn't get worn down by powerful attacks, (AC) and entry hazards, and as well as Toxic. Porygon2 still has the physical bulk to take Psyshocks and weaker physical attacks, and can pivot, (RC) but it will be worn down if it does so. Porygon2 can utilize Trace to take advantage of its opponent's ability, allowing it to take STAB attacks from Vaporeon, (RC) and Houndoom, and Arcanine, (Arcanine was rejected) among others. Heatran's Lava Plume and Gliscor's Toxic, which would otherwise be threatening moves, are also both shut down by Trace.

Cleric support from Clefable or Sylveon is much appreciated, (AC) very nice as Porygon2 has no way to deal with status. Moves
========

Thunderbolt and Ice Beam are used because they are reasonably powerful and attain great coverage few things resist both moves, allowing Porygon2 to hit most opponents neutrally. Recover is an absolute necessity for this set as it allows Porygon2 to heal itself and to stall out poisoned opponents out. Either Toxic or Thunder Wave can be used in the last slot; keep in mind that Toxic is generally a better choice because of the passive damage it inflicts. Thunder Wave is helpful for crippling hostile sweepers.

This set counters stops mixed Aegislash, Salamence, and Haxorus, (AC) and stops Garchomp in their its tracks. It is necessary to heal up predict with Recover often, as Porygon2 is outsped by most things. It's not recommended to switch Porygon2 into strong attacks because it can be worn down by hazards and repeated hits very quickly this way. Porygon2 still has great mixed bulk with this set, so it can still take moderately powerful special attacks from Pokemon such as Nidoking, (AC) Keldeo, (AC) and Clefable, (RC) as well as not be OHKOed by many of Keldeo's common attacks.

Team Options
========

A very helpful ally for this set to have is a Ghost-types such as Gengar and Aegislash make great teammates for their ability to, (RC) because it can switch into on very common Fighting-type moves and come out on top such as Focus Blast and Superpower, which this set cannot take as well as the Specially Defensive set can. A sSpecial walls such as Latias or Tentacruel and Sylveon can take strong special attacks aimed at Porygon2 also be very helpful, as this set needs support on the special side. As with the first set, some method to eliminate entry hazards removal is very useful. Excadrill, Latios, and Latias are good examples of hazard removers. Tentacruel can fulfill this need as well.
