Birdy(?) in Pink!
Overview:
Spritzee is one of the few available fairy-types in Little Cup, and it certainly doesn't disappoint. Spritzee's excellent 78 / 60 / 65 defenses and solid defensive and offensive typing allow it to sponge many powerful attacks thrown around in Little Cup. Spritzee also had access to Wish, a very uncommon move in Little Cup, which allows it to not only serve itself, but support its teammates as well. To top it all off, Aroma Veil, exclusive to only Spritzee in Little Cup, grants it immunity to Taunt, Encore, Torment, Disable, Heal Block, and Attract, moves that would otherwise cripple Spritzee and make it more difficult to do its job. Unfortunately, Sprtizee is incredibly slow and will act last against the majority of Little Cup threats. Spritzee's low speed also hurts its potential to go for a more offensive approach. Additonally, Spritzee has a somewhat bad case of four moveslot syndrome as it generally must give up a valuable moveslot for Protect which limits its coverage options. As a result, Spritzee struggles against the variety of Steel- Poison-, and Fire-types in Little Cup.

Moves
========
This set takes advantage of what Spritzee has over other common team supporters, mainly access to Wish and Aromatherapy. These two moves ensure that not only its fellow teammates are at full HP, but also cleared from debilitating status conditions. Protect allows Spritzee to heal from its own Wish if necessary and can also be used to scout pokemon with choice items so you can react accordingly. Moonblast is Spritzee's most powerful STAB attack, has fairly good coverage hits the Fighting- and Dark-types that Spritzee is likely to switch in on super effectively, and comes with a potential Special Attack drop.
Set Details
========
Spritzee's combination of bulk and typing allow it to check many dangerous threats in Little Cup such as Mienfoo, Scraggy, Carvanha, and Timburr. Using the EV spread provided maximizes Spritzee's physical defense to better take on the aforementioned threats, gives the largest Wish possible, and the extra EVs are used to increase Spritzee's Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed by one point each. Eviolite is nearly mandatory as Spritzee already has access to reliable recovery and is vulnerable to many 2HKOs without an Eviolite. To show Spritzee's defensive capabilities in the Little Cup environment, refer to the damage calculations below:
- 196+ Atk Life Orb Carvanha Waterfall vs. 212 HP / 196+ Def Eviolite Spritzee: 9-13 (33.3 - 48.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
- +1 236+ Atk Scraggy Iron Head vs. 212 HP / 196+ Def Eviolite Spritzee: 14-18 (51.8 - 66.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
- +2 236+ Atk Shellder Icicle Spear (5 hits) vs. 212 HP / 196+ Def Eviolite Spritzee: 15-20 (55.5 - 74%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
- 152 SpA Chinchou Hydro Pump vs. 212 HP / 76 SpD Eviolite Spritzee: 7-10 (25.9 - 37%) -- 82.5% chance to 3HKO
- +1 220+ Atk Axew Poison Jab vs. 212 HP / 196+ Def Eviolite Spritzee: 14-18 (51.8 - 66.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
========
Spritzee is able to check most Fighting-, Dark-, and Dragon-types throughout the match and is most effective when used as a member of the defensive backbone of a team. Spritzee can use free turns by either healing itself with protect, or pass a Wish to a teammate by switching out or cure status with Aromatherapy. However, it is worth noting that Spritzee should ideally be at or close to full health because if it is weakened, Spritzee can be 2HKO'd by some attacks. Additionally, even though Spritzee resists Knock Off, it is important to keep Spritzee away from members of the move, such as Pawniard,as without its Eviolite it becomes more difficult for Spritzee to check various threats; however, many of the threats Spritzee can easily wall, such as Mienfoo and Scraggy, often carry Knock Off. It may be a good idea to carry a pokemon that can easily take Knock Offs such as Shellos, Grimer, Trubbish, and most offensive pokemon.
Team Options
========
As Spritzee is naturally vulnerable to the Fire-, Poison-, and Steel-types that resist Moonblast, teammates that can comfortably mitigate these weaknesses are useful. Munchlax is an excellent teammate as it has the ability to soak of Flamethrowers, Sludge Bombs, and Flash Cannons that are aimed at Spritzee while the Fighting-types that love to switch into Munchlax will struggle against Spritzee. Munchlax, especially those with Berry Juice, loves Aromatherpay support as burn and poison will limit its walling potential. Ferroseed works very similarly to Munchlax; Ferroseed loves Wish and Aromatherapy support while handling both of Spritzee''s weaknesses. Ferroseed and Spritzee are both vulernable to Fire-types however, so having teammates that patch up this weakness such as Chinchou are necessary. Although Spritzee is not weak to Stealth Rock, it s affected by all entry hazards, making Rapid Spin or Defog support ideal. Tentacool resists both of Spritzee's weaknesses and can handle Fire-types fairly well while providing Rapid Spin. Drilbur is a more offensive choice, as it can threaten the Fire-, Poison-, and Steel-types that resist Moonblast with Earthquake. Finally, Spritzee walls and removes Fighting-types, so teammates that have difficulty breaking through them such as Scraggy and Pawniard will naturally go well with Spritzee. Coincidentally, Fighting-types also work well with Spritzee, as they can take out Spritzee's most common check, Pawniard; be sure to bring teammates that can take on Poison-types though.
Calm Mind

move 2: Wish
move 3: Protect / Aromatherapy
move 4: Moonblast / Draining Kiss
ability: Aroma Veil
item: Eviolite
evs: 212 HP / 196 Def / 12 SpA / 76 SpD / 12 Spe
nature: Bold
Moves
========
Spritzee can also take a more offensive route with its access to Calm Mind and reliable recovery in Wish. Because of its bulk, Spritzee can easily boost multiple times and sweep when it has acquired enough boosts. Moonblast is the primary choice as a STAB move, as it powerful, and has a great secondary effect. Although relatively weak in base power, Draining Kiss can also be used as it has a fantastic 75 percent recovery ratio, but relies more on acquiring boosts. Note that if selecting Draining Kiss, Aromatherapy is the best option in the third slot as the recovery provided by Draining Kiss lessens the need for immediate Wish recovery and ensures that Toxic users do not completely end Spritzee's sweep.
Set Details
========
Spritzee has a great offensive and defensive typing which allows this set to be viable. Spritzee can tank hits while boosting with Calm Mind to break down the opponent's team late game. A physically defensive EV spread and a Bold Nature is used to even out Spritzee's defenses after a Calm Mind. With a Calm Mind, Spritzee is very hard to OHKO without a STAB super effective move. The option between Aromatherpay and Protect is mainly personal preference. Aromatherapy and Draining Kiss make Spritzee very hard to stop after it has acquired multiple boosts, but is vulnerable without any Calm Minds. Protect and Moonblast will allow Spritzee is hit moderately hard after just one or two Calm Minds, but will be shut down by any user of Toxic. Aroma Viel is certainly the ability of choice on this set as it provides Spritzee immunity to Encore, Taunt, and Torment, all three of which can normally shut down a defensive boosting set such as this.
Usage Tips
========
Only commit to setting up when Posion- and Steel-types are either dead or heavily weakened as many of them can overpower Spritzee with their super effective STAB attacks. It may also be wise to eliminate bulky Fire-types such as Larvesta that can take Spritzee's attacks. Spritzee can still be brought in early game to tank hits for its team, but Spritzee with Draining Kiss lacks power without setting up. Instead, Moonblast can be used for maximum early game ultility as it relies less on setup. If Aromatherapy is used over Protect, it is beneficial to use Wish in between Calm Minds to acquire as many boosts as possible. If Protect is selected, be sure to eliminate status users, espcially those with Toxic, Sleep Powder, and Spore.
Team Options
========
This Spritzee plays fairly independently because it is self-sufficient, but does appericaite the removal of Poison- and Steel-types that Spritzee cannot break through easily. Drilbur and other Ground-types can use their STAB attacks to remove Poison-, Steel-, and Fire-types. If Spritzee lacks Aromatherapy, a cleric such as Chinchou might come in handy to remove status while being a good switch-in to Tentacool and Skrelp, which can be problems for this set. Pawniard and Spritzee complement each other well, as Spritzee resists Fighting and Pawniard can defeat most Poison- and Steel-types due to its typing. Pawniard also provides Knock Off support which will makes walls much easier for Spritzee to break through. A special mention can be given to Diglett because it traps and kills most Poison- and Steel-types such as Grimer, Croagunk, Magnemite, and Tentacool.
Other Options
Spritzee has a fairly wide movepool to work with, including coverage in Energy Ball, Psychic, Flash Cannon, Thunderbolt, and Hidden Power. These can be used to hit specific threats but Spritzee generally has no room for them and Spritzee is too slow to make a full offensive set work. Trick Room is notable because Spritzee resists Dark type moves, unlike the other pokemon in LC that have access to the move. An offensive Trick Room set can be potentially viable, but needs an incredible amount of support because Spritzee lacks sheer power with just a Life Orb and its coverage is not that great. Disable can be used to compeletly shut down any Dragon-type in LC, but they are very uncommon and Spritzee can beat any Dragon-type 1 on 1 anyway. Dual Screens is an interesting option to consider because Spritzee is immune to Taunt and Encore, something only Natu and Spritzee can boast. Reflect can be a option on the Calm Mind set to boost both physical and special defense while boosting, however this is a bit impractical. Rest and Sleep Talk can be viewed as a compromise if you cannot decide between Aromatherapy and Protect on the Calm Mind set. This allows Spritzee to rid itself of status and have a full heal, but Sleep Talk can prove to be unreliable. A specially defensive EV spread and nature can be used to better take on special attackers such as Chinchou and Staryu, but most of Spritzee's resistances are physical based in LC.
Checks & Counters
**Steel-Types**: Magnemite, Ferroseed, Pawniard, and Bronzor are very good checks to Spritzee as they usually have super effective STAB. Pawniard can pick up a potential Defiant boost from Moonblast. However, it is worth noting that without Steel-type STAB, they risk losing to Calm Mind Spritzee.
**Poison-Types**: Gastly, Foongus, Tentacool, and Skrelp can tank hits from Spritzee well and eliminate it with their STAB. Gastly has access to Trick to cripple Calm Mind Spritzee, Foongus has access to Clear Smog, and Tentacool can set up Toxic Spikes.
**Fire-Types**: Physical Fire-types are the best at checking Spritzee because they have an easier time breaking through Calm Mind. Therefore, Larvesta and Ponyta are good options for taking on Spritzee. Vulpix carrying Roar can take on Spritzee fairly well, but will struggle against Calm Mind Spritzee as the last pokemon if it does not carry Toxic.
**Clear Smog**: Although a niche move, Clear Smog not only hits Spritzee for super effective damage, it also removes its Calm Mind boosts. Foongus, Koffing, Shellos, and
Wailmer are potential users of the move. Haze also acts similarly to Clear Smog, but does not cause damage and is rarely seen in LC.
**Knock Off**: Spritzee without an Eviolite can be easily 2HKO'd, so keep that in mind when facing pokemon that commonly carry Knock Off such as Pawniard.
**Status**: If lacking Aromatherpay, Spritzee is very weak to Toxic because it will unable to stay in and boost for a prolonged period of time. Sleep also shuts down Spritzee completely as it cannot cure itself of Sleep with Aromatherapy.
**Trick and Switcheroo**: Giving Spritzee a choice item will severly cripple it from walling and boosting. However, note that a large majority of Spritzee carry Protect, so they will be able to scout for these attempts. Gastly, Buneary, and Misdreavus are common users of Trick and Switcheroo.

- Access to reliable recovery in Wish
- Aroma Veil grants an immunity to Taunt, Encore, and Torment.
- Terrible Speed

Moves
========
- Spritzee's access to Wish and Aromatherapy allow it to support its team admirably by restoring the HP of other teammates and also by curing them of debilitating status.
- Protect allows Spritzee to heal from its own wish and can also be used to scout choice users.
- Moonblast is a reliable STAB attack that has fairly solid coverage and hits the Fighting-types that Spritzee can switch in on super effectively.
Set Details
========
- Spritzee's combination of bulk and typing allow it to check many dangerous threats in Little Cup such as Meditite, Carvanha, Scraggy, and Mienfoo.
- Using an Eviolite maximizes Spritzee's defenses, and allows to reliably check the aforementioned threats.
- The EV spread listed and a Bold nature maximizes Spritzee's physical defense while also maximizing HP for the biggest wish possible. 76 Special Defense EVs are used to increase Spritzee's special defense one point, and the rest are put into Speed and Special Attack to increase them by one point each.
========
- Spritzee is able to check most Fighting-, Dark-, and Dragon-types throughout the match and should use free turns by healing itself with Wish or curing its teammates of status with Aromatherapy.
- By using Wish on a free turn, Spritzee can either heal itself by using Protect or switch to teammate that has a better matchup to whatever threat comes in on Spritzee. However, it is best to only use Protect when necessary, as overusing it can give a free turn for the opponent to set up.
- Additionally, although Spritzee resists Knock Off, it is important to keep Spritzee away from users of the move, such as Pawniard, as without its Eviolite it becomes more difficult for Spritzee to check various threats.
Team Options
========
- Munchlax, especially berry juice variants, is an excellent teammate for Spritzee, as Munchlax can sponge most special Steel- and Poison-type attacks while Spritzee can cover Munchlax's fighting weakness very well. Munchlax also appreciates Aromatherapy support, as burn and poison greatly hinder its walling potential.
- Ferroseed makes a great partner, as it can easily switch in on both of Spritzee's weaknesses and set up hazards while Spritzee can handle the Fighting-types that trouble Ferroseed. However, this core will struggle with Fire-types.
- Although Spritzee is not weak to stealth rock, it is affected by all entry hazards, making Tentacool and Drilbur good partners as they can remove entry hazards with Rapid Spin. Tentacool resists both of Spritzee's weaknesses, while Drilbur can threaten the Poison-, Steel-, and Fire-types that resist Moonblast with Earthquake.
- Spritzee walls and removes Fighting-types, so teammates that struggle with Fighting-types can capitalize on this such as Pawniard and Scraggy. Pawniard can easily switch in on most Steel- and Poison- types, while Scraggy can remove Steel-types with its Fighting STAB.
Calm Mind
########
name: Calm Mind

move 3: Protect / Aromatherapy
move 4: Moonblast / Draining Kiss

Moves
========
- Spritzee can also take a more offensive route thanks to its access to Calm Mind. With Wish and its fantastic bulk, Spritzee can easily boost multiple times and then sweep when it has acquired enough boosts.
- Although relatively weak, Draining Kiss has a fantastic 75 percent recovery ratio, and it is the best option if Protect is not selected.
- Moonblast can also be used, as it allows Spritzee to hit hard without relying on multiple boosts, and is better used if Aromatherapy is dropped in favor for Protect.
- Aromatherapy can be used so Toxic does not end Spritzee's sweep prematurely, but Protect can also be used to guarantee wish recovery.
Set Details
========
- This set abuses Spritzee's good defensive and offensive typing alongside Calm Mind to slowly boost and break down the opponent's team.
- A physically defensive EV spread and a Bold nature is used because it makes Spritzee a very good tank after a Calm Mind that is very hard to OHKO without a STAB super effective move.
- The choice between Aromatherapy and Protect is mainly personal preference, Aromatherapy can cure Spritzee of Toxic poison and burn, but Spritzee will miss the guaranteed recovery provided by Protect. To remedy this, Draining Kiss is used as it lessens the need for immediate Wish recovery.
- Aroma Veil is an amazing ability for this kind of set, as it allows Spritzee to set up without fear of Taunt or Encore, which would otherwise give this set trouble.
Usage Tips
========
- This Spritzee should only attempt to set up once Poison- and Steel-types are eliminated, as many of them can overpower Spritzee with their STAB attacks.
- Spritzee can still come in to check Fighting-types early game, but its damage output with Draining Kiss can be disappointing at times. If you want maximum early game utility, Moonblast would prove to be a better choice as it relies less on set up.
- If you are using Aromatherapy over Protect, it is beneficial to use Wish constantly in tandem with Calm Mind to get as many boosts as possible.
- If selecting Protect, be sure to eliminate any potential status users, especially those with Toxic, Sleep Powder, and Spore.
Team Options
========
- This Spritzee is a standalone sweeper that plays fairly independently, but appreciates the removal of Poison- and Steel-types that Spritzee cannot break through.
- Again, Drilbur and other Ground-types are excellent partners, as they can switch in to most Posion- and Steel-types and remove them with STAB Earthquake.
- If not using Aromatherapy, another cleric such as Chinchou can be a good teammate, as it has a quadruple resistance to Steel and has Electric STAB to beat Tentacool and Skrelp, two threats that give this set trouble.
- Pawniard and Spritzee complement each other well, as Spritzee resists Fighting and Pawniard can defeat Poison- and Steel-types due to its typing. It can also provide Knock Off support so Spritzee can break through threats easier.
- Diglett can trap and kill most Poison- and Steel-types, such as Grimer, Croagunk, Magnemite, and Tentacool.
Other Options
- Coverage in Energy Ball, Flash Cannon, Psychic, and Thunderbolt which can hit specific threats but Spritzee generally has no room for them and all out offense is a mediocre option as Spritzee is very slow even with maximum speed investment.
- Hidden Power Fighting and Hidden Power Ground can be used to hit Pawniard and Magnemite, popular switch-ins to Spritzee. However, Spritzee has difficulty finding room for them and a neutral Moonblast hits harder than a super effective Hidden Power.
- Trick Room is notable because Spritzee resists dark type moves, unlike other users of the move.
- Disable, however Spirtzee's immunity is too uncommon to take advantage of this
- Dual Screens, Reflect is an option on the Calm Mind set
- Rest + Sleep Talk can replace Wish and Aromatherapy on the Calm Mind set
- Specially Defensive is viable as well
Checks & Counters
- Steel-types: Magnemite, Ferroseed, Pawniard, Bronzor, most of them have status or super effective STAB. Pawniard can get a potential Defiant boost from Moonblast.
- Poison-types: Gastly, Foongus, Tentacool, Skrelp can tank hits from Spritzee well, Gastly has access to Trick
- Physical Fire-types work best to counter Spritzee, such as Larvesta and Ponyta as Flare Blitz will eventually wear down Spritzee. Special Fire-types such as Houndour will have more difficulty breaking through the Calm Mind set. Vulpix can use Roar to phaze Spritzee and takes little damage from Spritzee's boosted attacks.
- Clear Smog completely counters Calm Mind; Koffing, Shellos, Foongus are notable users of Clear Smog
- Toxic if lacking Aromatherapy
- Knock Off is annoying, Pawniard especially due to having super effective Iron Head
- Trick / Switcheroo with choice items, Misdreavus and Gastly are common Trick users
