[Fairy] Leader Elevator Music vs. Challenger Zarator! (reffed by Flamestrike)

Good day ladies and gents, we have for you today what will undoubtably be an incredible match up between two of ASB's finest trainers, with the Fairy Badge on the line! Friendly neighbourhood Flamestrike here brining you all the action live from Elevator Music's Fairy Gym where he will be defending his badge against his latest challenger! Before we begin, let's review the rules and the details of this arena!
Rules:
3v3 Singles (Challenger brings 3, Leader brings 4)
2 day DQ
2 Recoveries / 5 Chills
3 Substitutions
1 Mega Evolution
Items: ON
Switch: OK
Abilities: ALL
First Send Out: Coin Flip
Arena: Fairy Gym Arena
The ASB TournamentFairy-type Gym Arena

Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fansFairy-type Pokemon, the ASBFairy-type Gym Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about fifteen feet wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is eighty feet wide, one hundred feet long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than sixty feet). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are ALMOST no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle. However, the Fairy spectators are impatient and want to see a match. If a trainer hesitates excessively during the battle (read: goes over DQ), they will swarm and attack.

Summary:
- Standard rules
- If you go over DQ (however slightly), the fairies will brutally muder you [Note: if you post in LOA, or give a not-shitty reason AHEAD OF TIME, I won't DQ you]
The arena is surprisingly standard for a Gym arena; it doesn't really grant the leader much of an advantage at all! However, it was Elevator Music's choice to have this arena, so I suspect he doesn't need the advantage! Speaking of the leader, here he comes to take his place in the arena! Ladies and gentleman, please welcome, Elevator Music!

Definitely a solid, well-balanced team from the Leader! Watch out for Togekiss, quite possibly the strongest Fairy type in ASB (although Gardevoir might have something to say about that) and one of Elevator Music's favourite Pokemon! She certainly won't go down without one heck of a fight! And now coming in from the other side, it's the challenger. One of ASB's longest-tenured members, and while he doesn't fight as much as he once did when he does people watch because they know he's one of the best! The Ghost Gym Leader, here he is, zarator!

Obviously the attention here is drawn to the legendary Registeel, but the biggest threat to Elevator Music's badge might just be Cyric the Gengar, one of zarator's earliest and most trustworthy Pokemon. With some powerful offensive options and a whole lot of disruption, Elevator Music is going to have to be very careful when he's on the field! Now then, it seems like our competitors are ready, so let's find out who will send out the first Pokemon! The coin is ready to be flipped; if it's heads, then Elevator Music will send out first, and if it's tails then it'll be zarator who will have to choose the first Pokemon! Now then, the coin is up! And it has landed! It is...

-> RNG roll for coin flip (1-5000=heads, 5001-10000=tails) -> 3683 (heads)

...Heads! So it looks like Elevator Music will send out his Pokemon first! Then zarator will give his orders, Elevator Music will give counter-orders, and then we'll all sit back and watch everything unfold! Now then, there's no more time to waste, so let's get to it!
1) Elevator Music sends out Pokemon and equips item
2) zarator sends out Pokemon, equips item, and orders
3) Elevator Music orders
4) I ref
5) Elevator Music orders
6) zarator orders
7) I ref
8) 5-7 repeat, with the order of 5 and 6 switching each round

Elevator Music, you're up!

You don't need to worry about DQ against me^^ That being said, good luck!

Sending out Mask the Kitsunoh with Metal Coat!

It's time to begin here at the Fairy Gym Arena, and Leader Elevator Music is about to send out his first Pokemon! Out comes the Pokeball... and it's Bariyaado the Mr. Mime! Looks like he's holding an Odd Incense for an item; as his signature item it's naturally a pretty solid choice! Now the challenger seems to be debating who to counter with, but it looks like he's made up his mind... And it's Mask the Kitsunoh carrying a Metal Coat! Looks like zarator has the advantage to start, but Elevator Music didn't get this badge for wilting in the face of a bad matchup! Let's see what the battlers do as the first round commences!

Mask is the fastest Pokemon on the battlefield, and wastes no time getting us started off with... An Earthquake? An odd choice given the super effective STAB moves Kitsunoh has for this matchup, to be sure. Whatever the reasoning was, Bariyaado dodges a bullet! And it looks like he plans on dodging more of them too; he promptly uses Double Team and makes two clones of himself! Suddenly Mask is facing down three Mr. Mimes instead of one! Perhaps this is what zarator was hoping to avoid with that Earthquake, but he just missed the timing a wee bit? We may never know, but right now it's certainly advantage Bariyaado and Elevator Music!

Mask is looking at each of the Mr. Mimes in turn, hoping to discern which is the real Mr. Mime. Which will he go for? Looks like the middle one, and Mask lunges in and strikes with a powerful Meteor Mash! Oh, but he passes straight through; he hit a clone! Tough break for Mask and zarator, and now Bariyaado and Elevator Music get a chance to capitalize. What are they going to do? Oh! It's a Knock Off! Solid strategic move; it doesn't do much damage despite being super effective, but Mask's Metal Coat has been knocked away! And in a rather lucky break for Elevator Music, Mask's Cursed Body has disabled Knock Off, which means for the time being it can't disable anything else!

Now Mask has just two Mr. Mimes to choose from; it's a 50/50 shot! Mask picks one and attacks with an Iron Head! But no! Yet again Mask has hit a clone! zarator has had some really bad luck to start this match! But Elevator Music isn't going to take any mercy on his challenger, not with a badge on the line! Bariyaado moves in again, and WHAM! A Foul Play attack, much more effective than that Knock Off earlier, and this time the fact that it's super effective means a lot more! Early on Elevator Music seems to have the edge, but zarator wouldn't be where he is today if that would be enough to keep him down! Stay tuned folks; it's only going to get better from here!

And here we go for round two of this heated Gym battle! Elevator Music took the early edge, but can he keep up the pressure or will zarator take control? Oh, but before we begin, it looks like the Gym Leader has decided to make a switch, as he's withdrawing Bariyaado! He must not like the Kitsunoh matchup for Mr. Mime! Who will he go with as his second Pokemon? Oh! He's bringing out the big guns; it's Togekissu the Togekiss! And it has a Scope Lens, which means that, combined with Togekiss's Super Luck ability, every single one of Togekissu's attacks will be critical hits! That'll be a lot of extra damage! Now zarator has the option to counterswitch, but it looks like he's staying in! Interesting choice; EM will get the matchup he wanted, but now he has to order first! This could be interesting! And now that we know which Pokemon will be doing the fighting, the round can begin!

Mask isn't wasting a lick of time starting us off! He's dashing in at blinding speed, and smack! A Fake Out connect! A quick start to the round, and the attack knocks Togekissu off balance! Looks like Togekissu flinched! Not much Elevator Music could do about that, hopefully it doesn't screw with his plans too much!

Looks like Mask is going on the defensive now! Instead of striking again, he's draining away some of his own life force! That can only mean one thing! It's a Substitute folks! According to the scanners, it looks like it has 25 HP! It'll be tough to crack in one blow; can Togekissu pull it off? Hard to say for sure, but it looks like he's sure as hell going to try! BAM! A Heat Wave, right on the substitute, and it's a super effective critical hit to boot! Will it be enough... No! The substitute barely, just barely stays up! This could be bad for Togekissu!

With that substitute still barely standing, let's see how Mask takes advantage of it! Oh man, this could be big! Yes! A Pain Split! That is huge for Mask and zarator, as now both Pokemon's HPs have been equalized! He got just about as much out of that as he could have! However, it also looks like these big moves have taken a lot out of the Kitsunoh; he's getting pretty low on energy! But he still has that substitute, and it looks like it's about to do its job as Togekissu is firing off a Fire Blast! It's a critical hit and it's super effective, but once again it hit the substitute! The substitute faded, but not until after blocking over 20 damage for Mask, so mission accomplished! zarator has gotten himself right back into this match, but with Mask starting to get exhausted, can he keep the lead or will Elevator Music come roaring right back?

I thought I read "of this hated Gym battle..." lol.

Either way, switching to Registeel. Counterswitch?

EDIT: it has an Everstone

Here we go, it's time for round three! However, before we begin it looks like this time the challenger wants to change up the matchup; I guess he's decided that Mask is too low on energy to continue for now! Now who will he send in to replace the Kitsunoh? He's deliberating... And here it comes! Oh man! It's Registeel! Holding an Everstone to boosts its already high defenses even higher, it's going to be one tough nut to crack! However, the Gym Leader seems to like this matchup, as he's decided not to switch! Interesting choice, we'll see if it pays off as now zarator has to order first!

All of Registeel's bulk comes with a cost, and that cost is being slow as dirt, so it's Togekissu gets to start us off! He's... Hmm. An eerily familiar move, he's draining his own life force to make a Substitute! This one only has 20 HP, but if last round was any indication that's probably just enough! And we're about to find out because Registeel is charging in! WHAM! An Iron Head connects with the substitute head-on! It's super effective, but the substitute holds firm! Getting some déjà vu from last round, only this time it's Elevator Music benefiting from the Substitute shenanigans! Now that he more or less has a free turn, let's see what he does with it!

Unfortunately for Elevator Music Togekiss doesn't learn Pain Split, so he can't give zarator a taste of his own medicine! But it looks like he's got something that's close enough! Togekissu has pounded the Registeel with a massive Endeavor! That took a huge chunk off of Registeel, defenses be damned, but it also took a lot out of Togekissu, who must be feeling pretty tired right about now! Registeel is still plenty healthy though, and is looking to retaliate! It's firing a Flash Cannon! It's super effective, but the substitute takes the blow for Togekissu! The substitute fades, but it's already done its job, that's for sure! While it wasn't quite as effective as zarator's Pain Split gambit, that Endeavor has nonetheless evened things out a fair bit!

However, Togekissu no longer has a shield to take attacks for him, so it looks like he's getting creative in order to dodge some attacks! He's flying up high! And just in time as Registeel charges in with another Iron Head! Unfortunately the attack missed as Registeel couldn't quite make it there in time! Having successfully dodged, now it looks like Togekissu is going to complete his attack, diving down on Registeel with a Fly! It's a critical hit, as per usual, but it's not very effective and thus does almost no damage to Registeel with its massive defenses! Still, Elevator Music did a great job of getting out of that with minimal damage to Togekissu while taking a solid chunk off of Registeel! Now where will this battle go from here?

Flamestrike: If I switched the round before, can I counterswitch now? Or is the consecutive switch rule only about consecutive switching from first-order players?

Via the handbook:
Handbook said:
The practice of initiating a switch phase two rounds in a row has been outlawed in ASB. However, other methods of switching that don't initiate a switch phase such as using U-turn or replacing a fainted Pokemon may be done on as many consecutive rounds as you like. Note that using U-turn on multiple consecutive rounds results in ordering first on multiple consecutive rounds so this practice, while legal, is not considered very wise.
So yes, you can counterswitch because the only thing that's illegal is initiating a switch phase two rounds in a row; EM initiated this one, not you, so you're free to counterswitch.

EDIT: Flavour added to the last reffing, in case you were looking forward to it.

It's time for round four folks, and yet again it looks like we'll be seeing a switch, as once again Elevator Music is swapping out his Pokemon, returing Togekissu to his Pokeball! Who's coming out next? Oh, it looks like Bariyaado is back for more! However, unlike past rounds, we actually have a counterswitch! zarator has withdrawn Registeel in the face of Elevator Music's Mr. Mime, and is sending out... Mask yet again! Looks like we've returned to the matchup that opened this battle! One would think that that benefits zarator, but he does have to order first due to the counterswitch, so we'll see!

Mask wastes no time getting us started, as he's already dashing forward for a strike! He smashes into Bariyaado with a powerful Meteor Mash! It's super effective, and it boosts Mask's Attack by one stage to boot! Doesn't look like Elevator Music likes this matchup very much, and for good reason, as he quickly orders a Teleport from Bariyaado! The Mr. Mime can't get away just yet, but at the end of the round he'll be able to teleport back to his Pokeball, and then Elevator Music can bring someone else in without giving zarator the chance to counterswitch! However, the fact that he's resorting to that doesn't bode well for his matchup right now!

Mask is completely ignoring Bariyaado's shenanigans though, as he's going right back in for another strike! However, the Odd Incense's power allows Bariyaado to get his shield up just in the nick of time; it's a Reflect! Mask's Iron Head strikes the shield, and it holds firm; the super effective blow doesn't do nearly as much as zarator proabably wanted it to!

He's starting to look pretty exhausted, but Mask is soldiering on! He goes on the attack once again, and WHAM! Another super effective Meteor Mash, but the Reflect once again blunts the blow, leaving Bariyaado far healthier than he has any right to be! He's even able to Taunt Mask on his way off the battlefield, leaving Mask nearly out of energy and with no way to recover any! With Mask low on energy, unable to switch, and a Reflect up for Elevator Music, things are looking pretty bad for zarator right now! Will he turn it around, or will Elevator Music pull even further ahead?

With Bariyaado back in the Pokeball as a result of his Teleport, Elevator Music needs to send out a new Pokemon! Who's he going to choose? Here it comes... It's Togekissu once again! This might be a 3v3 match but neither trainer seems keen on bringing out their third Pokemon! The last time these two faced off zarator used some Pain Split shenanigans to regain momentum, but this time he's ahead on HP and low on energy, so it'll be interesting to see what he does to try and get himself an edge here!

As per usual, Mask is the fastest Pokemon on the battlefield, and he gets us started off, dashing in for an Iron Head! A solid hit, and it's super effective, but with Reflect up it's not doing nearly as much as zarator would like! Togekissu, meanwhile, has no such problems to deal with, and quickly fires off a Heat Wave in retaliation! Ouch! A super effective critical hit! That Super Luck Scope Lens setup makes Togekiss quite the heavy hitter, and Mask is feeling the pain!

Togekissu isn't wasting any time preparing to dish out some more pain, but Mask wants none of that! He dashes in with blinding speed, and POW! A Fake Out, and Togekissu flinches! So much for that! Mask is looking downright exhausted though; will he have enough energy to survive the round? It's going to be close!

Maybe zarator will have Mask chill... No! Mask is laying on the pressure with another Iron Head! And oh my! It's a critical hit! The super effective blow broke clean through the Reflect and hit for more than full damage! A lucky break for zarator! But Togekissu has recovered from his earlier flinch, and isn't taking that lying down! There goes a Flamethrower, and it's yet another super effective critical hit! Even with the one flinch Mask has taken a fair bit of damage this round, and isn't looking too healthy! Plus he's just about out of energy to boot! But at the same time he took a solid chunk out of Togekissu, and that Reflect is about to run out! Who will get first blood, or will we see a double KO to start this match? We'll find out soon!
