Look through each team, decide which one you like best, and make sure to Bold who you vote for. Provide a little bit of reasoning as to why you voted for that them. Try not to bandwagon. But...no voting for yourself.

You have a week. Go!

As an avid stall player/lover, I like Dardavatar's team best. Sure, I would change a few things, but overall, I like it (also cute mons). Therefore, I vote for him.

Most of these teams ended up similar :L but outside of gimmicks there wasnt all too much to do with it.
Brawlfest since he made klingklang work on the team which I failed to do :[

Vote: HJAD
Reason: I am a fan of creative movesets. His team had some eye-openers in my book, some good, some bad. But I like to go the road not taken.

FLCL

I just think his team is the best one in the current meta, being a solid balanced team and utilizing some underrated threats like Gurdurr and Double STAB Cryo which is the only cryo for me B)

Volty - He complimented the the original core well by surrounding them with solid Fire, Flying, Ice, and Grass resist (Steelix and Hariyama), neither are limited to defensive roles and can easily threaten alot of Pokemon in the meta. He then bolstered his offense with underrated yet powerful threats (Choice Band Spiritomb and Choice Specs Mesprit). All in all I like how the team covers almost all of the most popular threats.

I really like HJAD's team, It seems very well thought out and synegizes extremely well (if voting's still a thing i vote him yes). I was wondering about the goals of his speed investment. What threat are you outspeeding with those particular investments on toad, plume, and probo?

My first post on smogon :)) (ive been on ps a while now)
Vote: HJAD
i think his team is best because i know why he choose every mon and every set tbh. I also am a fan of how his team is cohesive when compared to others, great example of true team building. I also am a huge fan of creative sets, and trapping probo has to be one ofthe best

I've used FLCL's team a bit. It struggles a bit with Spiritomb, usually having to sacrifice Gurdurr/Pawniard in order to break it down, but overall, it's a solid balanced team and probably the best team here. Voting for him obviously.

FLCL

A lot of the other teams (like HJAD's) are too focused on type synergy to establish any particular strategy and ends up making the team weaker overall due to the lack of direction. Plus that type of logic is pretty flawed in general anyway; having random obscure resists to each individual type doesn't factor in coverage, stats, or just general matchup (for example just because Archeops is immune to Ground doesn't mean it's a good answer to Toad + Rhydon + Steelix lol). Of course not every team is like that but Fooly's team is imo the best at both identifying and supporting a wincon.

Final votes are in:
  1. FLCL with 5 votes
  2. HJAD with 3 votes
  3. Volty, Brawlfest, and Dardavatar all tied for 3rd with 1 vote a piece
The main reason that FLCL won was because not only did his team have defensive synergy, he set up a win condition and made it clear that his team was not only capable of absorbing attacks, it was capable of going out and taking down opposing teams. Congratulations, FLCL.

As promised, the winner, FLCL, and his team will be entered into our Hall of Fame. However(lol), he's already a moderator on the Pokemon Showdown! room and I'm pretty certain he's an OP on IRC. So, that prize will be kept in store for whoever wins Round Two. And our second core is...
Pawniard and Mismagius

As an LC man myself, I find myself quite partial to NFEs. I couldn't have been happier when this hidden gem was discovered. Pawniard, commonly known as Nipple Blades of Fury, despite its seemingly low stats, makes good use of several move, abilities, and strategies in its arsenal. Mismagius, despite dropping usage, still finds its way onto most teams. In fact, it is its versatility that makes it capable of fulfilling a number of roles on any given team. Again, your job is to build an entire team around these two Pokemon. However, the rules are going to change a little bit this time.

Previously, you could only use one of these three Pokemon on a team: Feraligatr, Shiftry, Spiritomb. We are now going to add Vileplume and Slurpuff to that list and say that you're only allowed to use two. That leaves the rule looking like this:
You may only use two of these five Pokemon on a team: Feraligatr, Shiftry, Spiritomb, Vileplume, and Slurpuff. Choose wisely.

Other than that, the same rules as before apply now.

You will have approximately the same amount of time as you did before. I wish you all happy teambuilding. Good luck in Round 2.

I have a RMT in the writing process with that exact core so I'm not willing to post atm, but once the RMT is finished I will post the team.

When I first saw Mismagius and Pawniard, I noticed that they both deterred the opponent from removing hazards from the field, with Pawniard taking advantage of Defog and Mismagius blocking Rapid Spin. From this, I decided I wanted to make a bulky offense team taking advantage of multiple hazards to wear down the opponent for something to sweep, like Pawniard.

Thought Process

Because I wanted the Mismagius to last longer than an offensive variant and provide support throughout the match, I went with with bulky stallbreaker Mismagius with a fast enough Taunt, and Will-O-Wisp to cripple common switch ins. The speed Evs allow it to outspeed max speed neutral nature base 65 speeds, such as Sandslash. For Pawniard, there is only really one viable set, with only variations in speed and hp. But don't get me wrong, it is still very good with the ability to get multiple set up opportunities with its great typing and surprising bulk. The speed Evs on Pawniard outpeed uninvested speed Slurpuff.

With the two hazard removal mons already in place, I needed a hazard setter, and on that could lay down spikes. After testing different mons the most consistent one I tried was Ferroseed, Tanking a whole ton of things for the team and countering many common threats, such as SD gatr, vileplume, etc. I went mixed on the defense Evs to take both hits from the spectrum and check more special attackers. I opted to not run Protect over Stealth Rocks or Spikes, to get maximum hazards, but there are many times I wished for protect.

Now I looked at synergy. I saw that Pawniard got screwed by fighting types, as did Ferroseed. While Mismagius could take a fighting hit, it couldn't take a strong Knock off, coverage most fightings have. And while Mismagius could take the Earthquakes aimed at Pawniard, mold breaker Sawk still gets through. Ferroseed is also prone to geting worn down, because of his only recovery is leech seed and losing Ferroseed could be vital in a match. This all led me to add defensive wish pass Slurpuff, countering Sawk, providing desperately needed recovery for Ferroseed, and the whole team, while countering a multiple of threats and forcing many switches. He has good synergy with Ferroseed too, with him taking fighting attacks and Seed taking steel and poison ones. Only something with poison/steel and fire coverage can really be dangerous, and thats how I got wrecked by Seviper.

Now I noticed that my team was very weak to fire spam, with nothing on my team wanting to take a fire attack at all. I also wanted another pokemon, other than Pawniard, to take advantage off the hazards and be able to clean late game. This prompted me to add Sd Feraligatr as a soft fire check, and something that loves the hazard support.

While Feraligatr is very useful, he does not really solve my fire issue, and I also had no real special attacker. After trying many different things in this slot, I opted for Specs Altaria, who can take myriad of special attacks due to good resistances, and fight back with a strong Draco Meteor. Altaria is kind of forgot about, and while its not top teir it fits my team nicely enough. Generally this is the most replaceable member imo.

Summary

I think my team uses the provided core nicely, while staying in the guidelines of only using two of the mentioned pokemon. After doing some laddering with the team, I noticed the biggest threats to the team were no way to remove enemy hazards, why you no have defog altaria >.<, and status conditions. While I did have Aromatherapy on Slurpuff at one point, I felt was too passive. I guess changing something like pain split on Mismagius could work but idk. I made this team kinda quickly so I haven't hammered out every kink, but it defintely has worked nicely for me, and any improvement is welcome!

Edit:
After further investigation, and some serious soul searching, I discovered Grumpig, who solves many of my problems, and replaces Altaria. Grumpig's thick fat allows it to tank the strong fire attacks plaguing my team, while retaliating with suprising coverage options. By putting Heal Bell on this, it also solves status issues which kill my team. I can also deal with Weezing and other bulky poisons that Ferroseed cant handle. Grumpig's biggest problem imo is his lack of recovery, and wish passing helps alleviate this issue. After doing more laddering, he does not disappoint.

After laddering more, I reached 1571 elo, probably could get higher but laddering is stressful

This team while not really all too creative is very effective. I've been using this core since I started playing nu, and its just brilliant. The core of pawinard and mismagius is great because it stops all ways for hazards to be cleared on paper. Qwilfish was a natural choice for me as the spikes setter because well, this pokemon is simply amazing with intimidate and the typing. Specially defensive rhydon rounds off my Hazards core nicely by being absurdly bulky on both sides getting up those rocks. Slufpuff and Feraligatr are both great pokemon to have on a hazards team, and they are also both pretty surprisingly bulky. Also gives me sweepers for both sides of the specturm.

Now the other part of this team comes with the pokemon's sets. For pawinard the standard sd set is simply godlike, easily getting one off to get to +4 on most defoggers. For mismagius I chose so not use nasty plot as simply put, its never done anything for me in the past. So i went for a more stall breaker set with taunt + 3 attacks to give the most coverage. Cm slurpuff and sd Gatr have great synergy as they demolish each others counters with ease allowing one to sweep later on. The qwilfish set is a bit odd so I decided to save that for last. I wanted a more bulky one with both spikes so I dumped max hp/ Speed onto it since its not going to be attacking anyway. Scald came naturally for the soul reason of that burn chance, and explosion is to suprise things, weaken checks and sack Quilfish to get my sweepers out there on a pokemon in which they have the advantage.

Overall I love the hell out of this team, I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and Its simply great. I hope you guys will like it just as much as I do :]

I guess I will post a team this round

http://pastebin.com/CsdpyXri

Since the two Pokemon this round are mainly know as some of the best at preventing Defog / Rapid Spin in the tier for Offensive Teams, I decided to make a Spike Stack (original, I know).

The team is based around Feraligatr and Lilligant, which works well together as they can remove eachother's checks : Fera will weaken Dragon-types and some Grass-types for Lilligant, while Lilligant will weaken most Grass-types thanks to Hidden Power Fire (mainly Ferroseed!) and stuff like Seismitoad and Poliwrath.

LO Healing Wish Mesprit pairs well with those two, as it is a great wallbreaker able to deal with Dragalge, Vileplume, Seismitoad, and even weaken Steel-types for Lilligant. It can obv use Healing Wish to give a second life to any team member!

Finally, Pawniard / Mismagius / Crustle form the entry hazards core. Crustle sets up Stealth Rock and stack Spikes as much as possible, while the other two can easily prevent the opponent from removing the entry hazards.

If people are wondering what the EVs for Feraligatr are for; it lets Feraligatr outspeed Max Speed Pawniard. Colbur Berry on Mismagius is also really good; it let Mismagius switch more easily on Fighting-types without having to fear for Knock Off, and it also helps the team to check Shiftry to take some pressure off Pawniard's shoulders to check it. Shiftry is also the reason why I have Rindo Berry on Feraligatr; I wanted to make sure I wasn't too weak to it, and with 2 lures + a counter, the team should be fine. (Mystic Water and Lum Berry does work on Feraligatr, although you will need to be more careful around a well played Shiftry).

As for different options: You can probably go with Choice Scarf Mesprit over this set if you feel like this team needs more Speed for some reasons, but I don't think it is needed.
