Overview
########
  • Pros:
    • A great Kyogre, Palkia, and Xerneas check all in one, which is always great.
    • Unique typing with many useful resistances.
    • Thick Fat mitigates two of its weaknesses.
    • With the commonness of Groudon, Synthesis heals 75% versus 50%.
    • Somewhat wide movepool.
  • Cons:
    • Takes up a mega slot, which is much more of a big deal in Ubers than of other tiers.
    • Ho-oh kind of shits all over it.
    • Stats are quite low by Ubers standards.
    • Synthesis is crippled in Rain.
    • Set up bait.
Wall
########
name: Wall
move 1: Synthesis
move 2: Sludge Bomb
move 3: Giga Drain / Leech Seed
move 4: Knock Off / Earthquake / Hidden Power Fire
ability: Chlorophyll
item: Venusaurite
evs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
nature: Calm

Moves
========
  • Synthesis is Mega Venusaur's most reliable recovery option, getting 50% under normal weather conditions, while having a great 75% in Sun. Do be warned, however, in Rain it is a mere 25%.
  • Sludge Bomb hits Xerneas, which is quite important.
  • Giga Drain allows Mega Venusaur to keep healthy in Rain and hits Kyogre hard.
  • Leech Seed pressures Defensive Pokemon like Blissey and Arceus.
  • Knock Off is very helpful to Knock Off opposition's item and 2HKOes Mega Gengar with a bit of prior damage.
  • Earthquake hits Fire-types like Blaziken and Heatran, and also Steel-types, while also being a certain 2HKO on Mega Gengar.
  • Hidden Power Fire hits Genesect very hard and other Steel-types as well.
  • Sleep Powder is a viable option to cripple practically anything, while Leech Seed is also another means of recovery, but it can be a bit overkill.
  • Roar phases out Xerneas along with other threats.

Set Details
========
  • Maximum special Bulk thanks to EVs.
  • Venusaurite is the item of choice, of course, to enable it to mega evolve lol.
  • Calm might seem odd with physical attacks, but Knock Off is used for its utility, not so much for its power.

Usage Tips
========
  • Aim to keep Mega Venusaur alive and healthy to better handle Xerneas and Kyogre.
  • Never ever switch Mega Venusaur into either threats pre-mega evolving because it has bad bulk beforehand and is easily overwhelmed.
  • Try to mega evolve as soon as possible because pre-mega evolution Mega Venusaur is pretty sucky.
  • The one exception the the aforementioned rule is to not mega evolve immediately should the Sun be up to gain the effect of Chlorophyll.
  • Its often best to scout for Xerneas' coverage options, as Psyshock / Psychic is the only move to watch out for, and it's best to know if it has these moves by pressuring it not to set up.

Team Options
========
  • Klefki is a good partner because, while it handles Xerneas effectively, cannot deal with Kyogre, the two together form a nasty core. Klefki also resists all of Mega Venusaur's weaknesses except Fire, but Thick Fat mitigates this anyways.
  • Cleric support from Sylveon is always appreciated.
  • Palkia gets nice synergy with Mega Venusaur.
  • Groudon provides Sun, Stealth Rock, and has ok synergy.
  • Teammates to handle Ho-oh, like Arceus-Rock, are good partners.

Other Options
########
  • Offensive Life Orb sets of Solar Beam / Sludge Bomb / Weather Ball / Sleep Powder (or Growth) could be used, but Sun is no longer permanent.
  • Grass Knot is usually strong thanks to heavy Ubers meta.
  • Leaf Storm nukes things but makes it even easier for Mega Venusaur to be set up on.
  • Toxic hits support Arceus
  • Swords Dance and Power Whip is an ok idea thanks to its bulk, but weak and outclassed by so many other Pokemon.
  • Sleep Powder is cool but shaky accuracy.
  • Block is kinda cool to trap Pokemon, but is so outclassed and takes up a moveset.
  • Petal Dance is very strong, a Grass-type Outrage, but confusion sucks and being locked into a move isn't good for a wall.
  • What not to use: Curse, Outrage, or Ingrain.
Checks & Counters
########
  • Ho-Oh.
  • Yveltal (Resistant and hurts with Oblivion Wing)
  • Support Arceus (Bulk)
  • Steel-types (Genesect, Dialga, Mega Lucario)
  • Mega Mewtwo (X & Y)
  • Strong Fire- and Ice-type moves (Reshiram, Blaziken, Ho-oh, Kyurem-W)
  • Kyurem-W (Teravolt says f u to Thick Fat)
  • Ghost-types (Giratina, Arceus-Ghost)

Not quite. Thick Fat makes the Fire weakness almost nonexistent, so Blaziken's Flare Blitz would only do neutral damage. However, Ho-oh can take it out with Brave Bird, and Kyurem & Reshiram both have Turboblaze, which can really "burn through fat".

  • 252+ Atk Mega Blaziken Flare Blitz vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Thick Fat Mega Venusaur: 212-252 (58.4 - 69.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • 252+ Atk Ho-Oh Sacred Fire vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Thick Fat Mega Venusaur: 152-180 (41.8 - 49.5%) -- 84% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252 SpA Choice Specs Turboblaze Kyurem-W Ice Beam vs. 248 HP / 176+ SpD Mega Venusaur: 362-428 (99.7 - 117.9%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

The stronger attacks cut right through it.

252+ SpA Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 176+ SpD Mega Venusaur in Rain: 150-177 (41.2 - 48.6%) -- 75.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
You really want max SpD here to even have a chance at checking Scarf Kyogre:
252+ SpA Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Mega Venusaur in Rain: 143-168 (39.2 - 46.1%) -- 25.4% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
You won't miss the speed, Giratina-A is awful and a bad target in general to outspeed since it fears being stalled out due to Leech Seed (why is it not mentioned? you aren't beating stuff like Blissey or Support Arceus, and can't pressure switches without it)
I really dislike Venusaur, its a hard to justify mon over something like Mega Mewtwo Y or Mega Blaziken or another mega along those lines. Not to mention if you are using Venusaur as your Kyogre check (gl with the specs set) you have to take a pretty big hit just to Mega Evolve it, and thanks to Rain, Synthesis's recovery is gimped down to 25% so its very easy to pressure it. Why should it be used? Whatever reasons there are, it should be added in the Overview or something.
Mention EQ hits Heatran, it walls it if Venusaur doesn't have Leech Seed (another reason to use it) Leech Seed should really be used over Giga Drain imo.
Ho-Oh needs to move to no1 counter, idk why its so far down when you have it mentioned in the overview that it shits all over it (you can add to usage tips to try poisoning it on the switch) I'd also mention Ho-Oh checks in team options.

I'd put Roar in there somewhere so you can actually beat non-last-Poke GeoXerns. Sludge Bomb doesn't do very much when Xern is at +2.

Current spread is 4 EVs short.

EDIT: Knock Off 2HKO's M-Gar 99.6% of the time with 4 Atk EVs and a Sassy nature after SR. Worth a mention? 4 EVs, how convenient. :D

I am honestly not a huge fan of Venusaur in Ubers. It can't even switch in on Kyogre unless it is already Mega Evolved, which is somewhat hard to do since Mega Venusaur does not have terrifically good offensive presence and is not fast. It is also extremely vulnerable to trappers, is not an overly good Palkia check (Lustrous Spacial Rend 2HKOes with SR and a teeny bit of prior damage, not hard since Venusaur cannot hold Leftovers), and is a bit shaky at checking Xerneas since +2 Psyshock murders it. Synthesis is also terrible for recovery when your main job is to switch in on Kyogre. That, and it takes up your Mega slot where there are much more worthwhile things to use on defensive teams like Scizor or Mewtwo.

That being said, this set might be better:

Wall
########
name: Wall
move 1: Grass Knot / Knock Off
move 2: Roar
move 3: Leech Seed
move 4: Protect
ability: Chlorophyll
item: Venusaurite
evs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
nature: Calm

Protect is actually great on Venusaur because it helps it find space to safely Mega Evolve, and it naturally comboes well with Leech Seed which is about 1000000x better recovery than Synthesis for a Kyogre/rain attacker check. Roar is basically required so Venusaur can check Xerneas without Psyshock effectively. The attack is up to you - I prefer Grass Knot to Giga Drain because Grass Knot actually deals damage to things. Knock Off is great too, it can 2HKO Gengar (forces Destiny Bond) and make Kyogre/Palkia easier to handle by stripping their damage boosting items, also makes Ho-Oh/Yveltal pay for thinking they get a free switch.

Still not convinced this is viable but I think this set is better than the one in the OP. Synthesis sucks. This thing loves having Wish support btw
