Aegislash'd

What if, like the Pumpkaboo thread, everything got to change with Stance Change? What if every Pokemon got that flip? Well, in this meta, this is reality! Everything swaps Defenses and Offenses when attacking, and every Pokemon now has access to Stance Change (along with their normal ability) and every Pokemon will now know a variaton of King's Shield that have different effects!
Here are the variants:
  • Normal-type: Safe Shield (Lowers opponent's Evasion by two)
  • Fire-type: Engulfed Shield (Lowers opponent's Defense and Speed by one)
  • Fighting-type: Brave Shield (Lowers opponent's Attack and Speed by one)
  • Water-type: Veiled Shield (Lowers opponent's Attack and SpD by one)
  • Flying-type: Gale Wind Shield (Lowers opponents accuracy and Speed by one)
  • Grass-type: Entangling Shield (Opponent has their Speed lowered by two)
  • Poison-type: Toxic Shield (Opponent has their Defense and SpD lowered by two)
  • Electric-type: Shocking Shield (lol) (Opponent has their Defense and Attack lwoered by one)
  • Ground-type: Earthy Shield (Opponent has their Defense and SpA lowered by one)
  • Psychic-type: Psy Shield (Opponent has Special Attack and Special Defense lowered by one stage)
  • Rock-type: Stealth Terra Shield (Opponent's Defense drops by two stages)
  • Ice-type: Frozen Shield (Opponent has their SpD and Speed dropped by one)
  • Bug-type: Infesting Shield (Opponent has their Speed and Defense dropped by two)
  • Dragon-type: Draconic Shield (Opponent has their Attack and SpA dropped by one)
  • Ghost-type: Spooky Shield (Opponent's Defense is lowered by two)
  • Dark-type: Shady Shield (Opponent's Accuracy is lowered by two stage)
  • Steel-type: King's Shield (Opponent's Attack is dropped by two)
  • Fairy-type: Mythical Shield (Opponent's SpA is dropped by two)
This is all if the opponent makes physical contact, of course! Some interesting combos can be created such as making Physically Defensive Charizard X even better and making Chansey a strong Special Attacker! Suggestions are always appreciated for name changes / stuff like that.

Aegislash now gets Cursed Body.

>I was about to propose this. Shuckle seems like an absolutely gargantuan threat in tr along with stuff like bastiodon. Will most definetly play this when if it's coded.

Banned deucer.
Do you plan to give aegs a new ability seeing how every other mon has auto stance change without the need for the ability?

Hmm, I hadn't thought about it honestly! Is everyone cool with giving Aegislash Pressure? Sounds cool but idk, I'll take suggestions / input.

Notable threats:

Shuckle: nuff said

Mega mawile: gets 125 Atk and huge power when attacking.

Mega Aggron: op tank with 230 Atk

Florges: good special tank

Diancie: maybe? Similar to aegis

Offensive Skarm is not a joke anymore. Eats up physical hits and has the strongest brave bird in the game. Ferrothorn's gyro ball is pretty strong too, 131 base attack backed by a 150 BP STAB move (unless your speed is less than 160) just hurts.

Also, this happens in like every meta, but are some ubers going to get unbanned? Mega Lucario should probably get tested first because of its drastically nerfed offenses and its non-existent defensive movepool. Still, the extra bulk helps you set up a lot more easily, and a +2 adaptability close combat can still maim things from a 88 base attack stat

IMHO, the accuracy drops from Shady Shield - and Wind Shield, to a lesser extent - seem really neat to give set-up chances. For example, if Absol (first Dark-type heavy hitter that sprang to mind) throws up a Shady Shield and you hit it on that turn, 100% accurate moves drop to 60% accuracy, which gives it a great chance to set up a Swords Dance with defenses that spike to 65/130/75 from the Shady Shield before it Mega Evolves.

Also, how are Mega Evolutions handled by this? If a Pokemon Mega Evolves while in its Shield Stance, does it stay there or switch back? And do Pokemon get the moves that their Mega Evos would get (Draconic Shield on Charizard, for example)?

Sorry for the minor rant, I'm sorta new to this. :3

EDIT: Didn't think before I posted that, Absol's offensive stats would be in its Shield Form and it'd have its Blade Form's 60/60 offenses as soon as it actually tries to land a hit. Maybe it'd be an idea to change every Pokemon with higher offensive than defensive stats so that it's automatically in Blade Form when it comes out? Doesn't make much sense to have high attacking stats that are only accessible when you're not attacking... .-.

There are a few things that need fixing:
  • Toxic Shield lowers the Defenses by two, but it should be one. Copypasting error? :p
  • Both Engulfed and Infested Shield lower Speed and Defense. There also isn't a shield that lowers Speed and Sp. Attack, so one of these should be changed to that.
  • Both Terra and Spooky Shield lower Defense by two stages. There also isn't a shield that lowers Sp. Defense by two stages, so one of these should be changed to that.
  • Shocking Shield has a typo in lowered.

Thoughts :
- Azumarill likes this meta.
- Hopefully, Deoxys-D has already been banned from OU.
- Blissey now has offensive presence
- Goodra, Sylveon and Florges are now quite threatening walls.
- Shuckle laughs at your life. Shell Smash + Sturdy + 230 mixed offenses = GG World. It can also run Contrary for KS variants !

Anyway, this meta leads to stupid things : anything with high offenses and low defenses now hits like a wet tissue and cannot wall anything either.
Example : when Shapedo attacks, both its base Atk and SpAtk are reduced to 40. Things like Lando-T, Nite, Gengar, Talonflame, Greninja, Pinsir, Breloom are now much less viable.
LOL Deoxys-Attack : it's an ungodly mixed wall when it attacks, but has laughable offenses. Its problem as a wall is that it cannot switch on a damaging move, and dies priority. It needs to be unbanned.

No because then it just becomes another hazard stacker suicide lead.

Yeah, seems like a good idea. though as others have brought up sweepers suck in this meta. Also, why not have some shields have alternate effects(such as fire burning) and make spiky shield activate stance change?

Well, I originally had a list with stuff such as Veiled Shield inflicting Soak, Engulfed Shield inflicting Burn, Shocking Shield inflicting Paralysis, and stuff like that for each kind, but TEG told me to keep it simple and just make it impact stats.

I'd just like to point out that Cloyster's going to have a lot of fun with Deoxys-A's standard Attack stat on top of Shell Smash and 125BP Icicle Spear, and Regice has base 200 Special Attack (for reference, Mewtwo-Y is 194) when it attacks.
GG, everything weak to Ice that can't get out the way fast enough. xD

Also, I know this is sorta new, but does anyone have any idea if/when we're going to be able to play this? :3

Registeel :
80/75/150/75/150/50

Slower than most mons (which will be priceless in this meta), not-so-terrible defensive stats in pseudo-Blade form, great defensive typing. It has Ghost/Steel/Fighting coverage like Aegislash but sadly no priority/Ghost STAB. It has slightly better coverage options in EQ, Thunderbolt, Ice Punch and Hammer Harm tho (Hammer Harm dropping Speed is a good thing actually, since you want to have less speed than your opponent).

Cofagrigus looks great... until you notice its physical movepool consists of Knock Off, Return and Astonish (lol).

Dusknoir might be usable with perfect mixed coverage (Shadow Punch, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, Brick Break/Focus Punch/Dynamic Punch). Its Special moves are more reliable/powerful but it has Physical priority in Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch (and Pursuit). And it has a decent support movepool to hit the opponent through King Shield-like moves (Taunt, WoW, Pain Split, Disable, Gravity for Dynamic Punch, Sub for Focus Punch).

Is this "always swaps stats" Stance Change (ie what other people have said of 'offensive mons hits like tissue paper') or "uses offensive spread in Blade Forme and defensive spread in Shield Forme but is otherwise derived from base stats" and if it's the latter, what happens when you have Pokemon with stuff like attack/defense/special attack/special defense=high/low/low/high? What's the process for deciding how the distribution happens in such a case?

So does Eviolite constantly keep the Defenses up, or does that translate to an attack/special attack boost too?

If the latter, Chansey's BoltBeam will be lovely.

No, when Aegislash transforms it doesn't boost it's Defense by 1.3x w/ Life Orb so items won't be applied at all to this effect.
