Southampton have literally been raided of every goo player they have! Wouldn't be surprised to see them relegated next season
they still have 150 m to spend. Seems like the smart thing to do is try to buy just enough to stay up and then reinvest the rest into longterm projects/youth development

Reus apparantly rejected a new contract with Dortmund. Liverpool are allegedly pouncing on him as I type this, frog jumping the line of other interested parties.

Lol man, San Lorenzo has to play in La Paz tomorrow for the semis of the Libertadores, and the players are gonna take Sildenafil citrate (so Viagra) to combat the issues caused by the high altitude. Apparently it helps dilation of the blood vessels, making it easier for the players to breathe in a different pressure environment. The more you know...

So the southampton chairman said they aren't selling any more players and now schneiderlin is ranting on twitter... Over/under on how long until he's on tottenham? 2 days?

southampton are the lucky ones, in our preseason we've lost to mansfield and drawn with chesterfield

They'll still have Cork, Clyne, Ward Prowse, Wanyama and Tadic is a good player. I'm sure they'll still be better than the 12 teams they finished higher than last year, maybe Newcastle will push above them. I'd be shocked if they don't get top 10. Really where exactly were they going to go? Highly unlikely they would break into the top 7 anyway. Their academy has produced good players for 20+ years and that will continue. All these players they've sold are gems they've unearthed themselves, and history suggests they'll simply do it again. They'll be just fine.

I'm calling a relegation battle for Southampton this year. That's assuming Tadic is what he's cracked up to be and Ramirez steps up. If they sign some quality then my opinion will change but currently they are one or two injuries away from having to play kids.

Fairly decent business on our end. £25m is overpaying imo for Lukaku, and he was never gonna get used anyway with Mourinho disliking him.

In other news, Don Julio Grondona (82), president of AFA and vp of FIFA, passed away just now. There'll be another time and place to discuss what he did to Argentine Football, but this is not it. So RIP I guess.

I think 25m isn't actually a bad price, considering he is a proven 15-20 league goal striker and very young.

Stays fit I'll bet he scores more then Costa.

It's sad, he'd have been the perfect back up to Costa. I had hoped that he'd stay and that Torres would be the one to leave (although that can still happen). At least we got £28 million out of it and that too from Everton! O.O

He's good but the way Martinez has set up his team is a bit of a head-scratcher. He has a good goalscorer in Lukaku but plays Mirallas, Barkley and Pienaar/McGeady around him and he can be seen encouraging them to shoot. Look at the amount of shots Mirallas took last season and Barkley too, and none of them are told to pass to the striker. Secondly Everton have great fullbacks who love to cross, I think Baines and Coleman have two of the highest crossing figures in the league last year, but Lukaku has this hilarious characteristic of never scoring from crosses! It's bizarre, I think he's only scored 2 or 3 goals from crosses in the PL ever. All in all it seems he's trying to feed a striker who doesn't like crosses with crosses, and using him as a rebound poacher/specialist for his midfielders when he's a big man. The style of play just screams for a Hernandez or Soldado. Maybe it's all just a coincidence or something but it's really bizarre lol...

Decent player but shitty attitude and commitment.

Forced the loan to Everton last season and it seems like he did this season because Chelsea bought Costa and didn't want to become the #2 striker.

This deal is as good of a reason for Drogba signing for the club now. Although I hope we get a good striker to replace him. Icardi comes to mind although it wont happen.
