Arachne Manor

Deep in the heart of Viridian Forest a strange mansion dwells among the trees. It is an old manor of gray bricks; the home easily predates the first revolution. Only a handful of servants live in the recmote manor to tend to its equally reclusive but very wealthy lord.

Who is he? I wouldn't ask. He can get rather touchy about personal matters.

He spends most of his days alone, gazing at his collection. Tauros heads are mounted on plaques. A flock of stuffed Farfetch'd hang from the ceiling. A Scyther's body stands poised to strike at any unsuspecting foes, his lifeless eyes finally fitting. He worked long and hard for this collection. It was a welcome distraction from his work.

What did he do? I wouldn't ask. He can get rather touchy about personal matters.

But deep inside the home lies a room that seems out of place. It is an extremely high tech greenhouse complete with weather modification abilities. Toxic plants hang throughout as swarms of smaller bugs eat from their bark unaffected. Insects are remarkably resilient creatures. A tropical rain constantly pours down from above but the insects don't seem to mind. It is soothing and cooling in the room.

And he does not battle with actual insects. Just his Pokemon. The most prized members of his collection.

Mechanics:

-Permanent Rain that can only be changed by weather stones for a length of 3r. At the end of the stone's effect, if it is not renewed, the weather goes back to rain.
-So long as rain is up, the attack drop from Burn does not apply
-Moves with the word "poison" in their name gain 3 base power
-4x weaknesses deal x2 damage, 8x weaknesses deal x2.5 damage
-SolarBeam, Synthesis, Morning Sun, and Moonlight work as if the weather is clear if it is raining.

"Neat! Now then, onto the battle itself. Our prestigious gym leader today is none other than Rediamond, the Bug Leader! He's known to be a pretty good trainer overall, but his 50% W/L ratio shows that he is having trouble defending the gym. That said, he's got powerful Pokemon and definitely enough skill to use them. In a bid to make his ratio a bit more favorable though, he's created a brand new one to cover his former weaknesses. Let's hope it works! Pay Special attention today to Aurumoth Destroy of Worlds, who can lay the hurt on most of Birkal's team and is one of the few Pokemon that can combat that pesky Tomohawk."

"And so the match begins! Birkal decides to lead with Crayons the Kecleon, almost certain to devastate the enemy. In response, Rediamond lets out the big guns early, by sending out Queen of the Blade the Scizor. I say big guns because Queen mega evolves immediately. However, I don't see it coming out on top against the Kecleon."

"After Queen finishes Mega Evolving Crayons has a trick of his own. He flashes forward, and slaps the Queen of the Blade right across the chin! That's gotta hurt. Stunned by the rather immediate breach of etiquette, Queen finds herself unable to move! It seems she has flinched, which is good news for Crayons as it means he gets to keep his Everstone for that much longer."

"Queen seems really angry at Crayons now, and promptly starts Biting him! If Crayons had any berries they'd be gone now, but fortunately he doesn't. Crayons decides to stop playing around and launches a stream of fire at the Queen! However, due to the rain and the arena's effects, it does a lot less damage than it would normally do. This fact pleases the queen, and she smiles."

"Queen, not quite knowing about Protean, scratches Crayons with her claw. Given the size of those things, that Metal Claw definitely hurt more than you'd expect. Crayons seems to realize this isn't heading in his favor, and starts laying out Stealth Rocks upon the field. That is really bad news for Rediamond, enough so that you'd think he'd have banned them."

"Either way, we're left with a slight advantage for the gym leader. However, those Stealth Rocks may prove deadly in the long run. I think the match is somewhat even, because Birkal can switch to gain the advantage here while Rediamond risks a lot of damage if he counterswitches. How will things play out? Round 3: Armaldo's Revenge!

"Welcome back folks! Last round we learned that you should never ignore abilities of a Pokemon. It might turn out badly for you, as it did for Birkal. Can he make a comeback?"

"Both Pokemon start off by lobbing rocks at each other. Diego Armaldo's Rock Blast hits it's mark, dealing some impressive damage to Vesuvius. Vesuvius is less lucky, as trying to launch the rocks all at once messes with his aim. It seems Vesuvius has missed, which is bad news for Birkal."

"Diego Armaldo then takes a different approach. It uses Iron...energy? Yeah I guess I'll go with that. It uses that energy to make a considerably good defense against attacks. The odd thing is, the Iron Defense actually seems to have cured Diego Armaldo's burn. Ah the power of ASB history. Anyways, Vesuvius fills his Tail with Iron energy as well, and smacks Diego Armaldo with an attack, but the defenses put up not only soften the blow considerably, but also smack Vesuvius for some damage as well."

"Then the two Pokemon start their rock lobbing competition over again. Diego Armaldo decides to launch the same amount of rocks as before curiously, guess it didn't see any need to fix what was broken. Vesuvius tries his luck at lobbing them all at once again, and this time he hits Diego Armaldo! Unfortunately, the Iron Defense made it do paltry damage."

"As we come out of this round, it seems Rediamond has taken a considerable lead in this match. Birkal is definitely in trouble, and it's only a matter of time before Vesuvius falls. What will he do? Well, stay tuned to find out!"

Burd: And as expected Birkal wastes no time and goes on the offensive trying to get a revenge KO on Diego the Armaldo with one of his trusted partners. But Diego is no sitting duck, and listens to Rediamond's orders very carefully before perfoming a Bulldoze attack on Aikido the Mega Lucario.

{McKrow enters the commentary box and is not looking happy}

Burd: {Looks at McKrow in glee} That was an amazing move choice by the Gym Leader! A great prowess of technique and calculation. Now Aikido would be slower than Diego and we know what is coming.

McKrow: {Burd looks at McKrow to respond and then nudges him} Yeah, Dig I pressume?

Burd: Ofcourse McKrow, You are right and Dig it is. Diego works on Aikido's health slowly while taking no damage what so ever from Aikido on the remaining actions by the pokemon.

Will this work out in the next round tho? With Birkal trying to save one of his main strikers; we know what could be coming in the next round, but that would only mean that Birkal would be at a disadvantage of what might follow.

McKrow: I don't think he would do what you are thinking off Burd! If I were Birkal I would prefer damage to a free turn.

Burd: Well! We just have to wait and see.
