Alright, our winner for this round is President Shinra!

Our next victim is something that has always been looked down upon, but I thought it would be interesting and spark up some discussion, which is...

Scrafty

F-YEAH 1ST SUBMISSION

le scrafty tank set:

Scrafty@Leftovers
Ability:Shed Skin
EVS: 252 HP/200 Def/56 SpD
Impish Nature
-Drain Punch
-Knock Off
-Toxic
-Protect

This set focuses on Scrafty's good defenses, straying away from the standard Bulk Up/Dragon Dance sets usually used. The EVS/Nature maximize defensive potential, and it's typing allows Scrafty to wall Pokemon such as Snorlax, Hydreigon, and some Mega Aerodactyl. To explain the set, Drain Punch and Knock Off provide STAB, while also giving Scrafty reliable recovery in Drain Punch and utility with Knock Off. Toxic wears down walls that switch into Scrafty, while also poisoning most counters on the switch. Protect increases damage output for Toxic, and scouts for any super-effective moves. This set should be teamed up with a Steel type, for they counter most of this set's checks (fairies, flying types, the like).

Le calcs

Not quite lol

Anyways, presenting Assault Vest Scrafty:

Scrafty @ Assault Vest
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Dragon Tail
- Ice Punch

This set attempts to capitalize on Scrafty's solid base 115 defenses while still dishing out some serious damage. Scrafty's typing is a big boon for this set, as it not only gives it a Psychic immunity but also powerful STAB Knock Offs and Drain Punches.

252+ Atk Scrafty Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Aerodactyl: 120-142 (39.8 - 47.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Scrafty Drain Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 230-272 (70.5 - 83.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Scrafty Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 186-218 (47.2 - 55.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Scrafty Ice Punch vs. 132 HP / 0 Def Mega Ampharos: 136-160 (38.4 - 45.1%) -- 9.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Scrafty Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mew: 270-320 (66.8 - 79.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

The damage isn't amazing, but with good prediction you can hit a lot of the meta for a solid chunk of health. However, Scrafty's bulk is another plus for the set, especially on the special side.

252 SpA Life Orb Shaymin Seed Flare vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Scrafty: 126-149 (37.7 - 44.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ SpA Mega Launcher Mega Blastoise Aura Sphere vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Scrafty: 176-208 (52.6 - 62.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
-1 252 Atk Choice Band Victini V-create vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Scrafty: 217-256 (64.9 - 76.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Scrafty does compete with Machamp for a UU AV fighting type, but it brings the advantage of Drain Punch, STAB Knock Off and marginally better bulk.

Tired of Dragon Dance Scrafty being raped by Crobat and killed by every relevant scarfer in UU? Tired of Bulk UP Scrafty being weak as shit and getting easily phased? Enter SubPunch Scrafty, a way to get around Checks with a poweful atack that never misses when behind a sub. It does cool stuff like almost always OHKOing standard Mega Aero, 2HKO Mega Toise, and just smashing its checks. a Knock Off on Crobat gives you time to rest as it breaks your sub and get a free turn if it roosts off the damage. This is a good option over Hi Jump Kick since having a sub bypasses Scrafty's low speed whereas if you HJK'd they can outspeed you. Scrafty's movepool really sucks outside of niche coverage options. Rest stops you from being worn down as easily by Life Orb and Substitute and if you know an Aromatisse or Granbull is coming just rest up and thanks to Shed Skin you aren't as crippled as normally a poke would be. This sets downfall is it can't beat fairies.

as i don't see scrafty as the most viable fighting type in the tier it does have it's niche over other fighting types in cool boosting moves, great dual stab and excellent abilities. this set focuses on coming in for the intimidate get a free sub and spam knock off + high jump kick, this set also runs dragon dance which is cool as scrafty can often due to it's bulk and ability in intimidate get to +2, scrafty is also extremely dangerous with dragon dance under it's sub. note that even at +2 scrafty is not outrunning any scarfer, but the spread is made to outspeed 136 speed jolly mega aero which is basically the fastest non scarfer you face. also you might be surprised over the bulk scrafty sports which means not any scarfer can ko it, just check this out.

252 SpA Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 48 HP / 0 SpD Scrafty: 184-217 (65 - 76.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Sheer Force Darmanitan Flare Blitz vs. 48 HP / 0 Def Scrafty: 238-282 (84 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

this is incredible! and it's without the intimidate as well which means the only scarfers that ko's it are fighting types.

at +1/+2 you basically run over anything late game anyway as you have basically knocked off most of the team anyway and high jump kick just cleans. so this is basically what i managed to scrap out off scrafty it's an good pokemon with excellent dual stab, great abilities and excellent defenses. what holdes it back the most is it's pitifull speed and low attack stat, which is what i had i goal to take advantage off when making this set. substitute handles it's speed problems in conjunction with dragon dance, and knock off + high jump kick weights up for it's low attack stat.

Tired of Scrafty being walled to hell and back by every fairy under the sun? Try Choice Band (and pray for hax)!

(First time submitting a set, so I hope everything is done correctly.)

Perhaps one of Scrafty's biggest flaws is its lack of power to muscle past certain walls, especially those with phazing moves, like Chesnaught for example. Even after 2 Dragon Dances/Bulk Ups, Scrafty still finds itself walled or revenge killed by several key threats in the UU metagame, making boosting sweeper sets, for the most part, subpar, outclassed, and unappealing. However, this set attempts to use Scrafty's utility STAB moves and its access to Taunt to push thru walls and become a pretty effective stallbreaker. Here's a look at the set:

Scrafty @ Leftovers
Ability: Shed Skin/Intimidate
EVs: 204 HP / 252 Atk / 52 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off/Toxic
- Taunt
- Super Fang

As stated before, this function of this set is to be a mixed tank and stallbreaker, being able to sponge attacks from several bulky attackers and mono-attacking walls in the tier and retaliate. Scrafty can threaten opposing Pokémon with its STAB, cripple them with Knock Off, or whittle them down into KO range with Super Fang. That said, the crux of this set is actually Taunt. Usually, Taunt is utilized by Pokémon considered to be at least moderately fast, which is why it may seem strange and pointless to dedicate a moveslot to Taunt on a Pokémon that's as slow as molasses. Yet, despite sporting a pathetic base 58 Speed stat that only turtles envy (and just barely, Torterra has base 56 Speed >.> ), Scrafty can muster just enough speed to move before a lot of walls and Taunt them to prevent them from setting up, making Scrafty's premier defensive checks, such as Slowbro and Forretress, much easier to handle.

What differentiates Scrafty from other stallbreakers, like Crobat and Mew, is its arguably better typing, including access to the powerful utility of STAB Drain Punch and STAB Knock Off, Shed Skin, better bulk (than Crobat), and the element of surprise. Leftovers offer some passive recovery and boosts its longevity alongside Drain Punch, as Scrafty has no reliable recovery otherwise. Shed Skin is the ability of choice for this set, as it provides invaluable security against burns from Scald and faster Will-o-Wisp's because neither of them can be stopped by Taunt. It also eases prediction and somewhat remedies mispredictions, which is excellent because this set really hates all status and requires some prediction to be used effectively. In a pinch, Shed Skin allows Scrafty to act as a pseudo status absorber, although it still doesn't want to risk being burned for several turns. On the other hand, Intimidate is a viable option to cushion blows from the physical attacks it often switches into and to more comfortably dispose of walls with a STAB physical move, turning Wood Hammer from Chesnaught into a 4HKO rather than a 3HKO, for example. Intimidate also forces switches and makes Scrafty a decent pivot, but cleric support is basically required to heal status afflictions that it is now more susceptible to by choosing to forgo Shed Skin.

The EV's are fairly simple; Attack is maxed so Scrafty can hit as hard as possible with Drain Punch and Knock Off, 52 EVs are placed in Speed to outspeed min Speed Chesnaught and Taunt it before it can use Leech Seed or set up Spikes, and the rest is dumped into HP to give Scrafty some respectable bulk to tank hits. Chesnaught is the fastest threat worth outspeeding for Taunt, and any more investment in speed really begins to compromise its bulk. Knock Off is amazing for its sheer power, utility, and as a way to hit Ghost-types, which are immune to both Drain Punch and Super Fang, but Toxic is a useful alternative to more reliably beat some physical walls that don't take much damage from either of Scrafty's STAB attacks, like Hippowdon or Chesnaught. If Toxic is used, an alternative EV spread of 232 HP / 128 Atk / 96 Def / 52 Spe with an Impish nature provides noticeably more bulk, especially on the physical side (96 EVs in Def reaches a jump point), to tank these Pokémon's STAB attacks, while still having enough power to get past LO and Choice Scarf Kyurem (high chance to 2HKO uninvested Kyurem and guaranteed on Hasty variants).

Now for some calcs. As you'll see, stallbreaker Scrafty is fairly bulky and most slower walls struggle to inflict meaningful damage on him with their weak uninvested attacks, unless it's a Fairy. Scrafty can also beat some faster, frail Pokémon that are weak to its STABs and things like Goodra and usually Metagross, due to Scrafty's tankiness. Even non-Specs Hydreigon always loses 1-on-1 with Stealth Rock because of Drain Punch's recovery. Hitting Chesnaught on the switch with Knock Off and Sableye with Taunt make them much easier to manage.

Overall, I'm really liking this set so far, because it performs well against roughly two-thirds of UU. Donphan and Mega Aggron can be problematic, but physically defensive Mega Ampharos, Arcanine, and any Fairy will always be impossible for this Scrafty to beat on its own. Otherwise, just about any other wall cannot overcome it. Paired with a powerful Water-type and an answer to Fairies, this set can truly shine. Sorry for being lengthy, and thanks for your time! :D

EDIT: I never ran into Aggron-M for some reason in testing, but stallbreaker Scrafty can not beat it from full health, but Scrafty can wear it down over time and win when it's around 70% health as long as you can predict Rest and use Taunt when Aggron attempts to recover.

Just a nitpick but Crobat doesn't break your Substitute. It uses Infiltrator to just straight up smash you with a Brave Bird.

I totally forgot about the Infiltrator buff this gen, thanks Meru. Still useful other than for bat who you probably should just Knock Off and run.

ChestoRest Scrafty

Scrafty @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Shed Skin
EVs: 36 HP / 252 Atk / 220 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Rest
- Knock Off
- High Jump Kick

This is ChestoRest Scrafty. When you come in, start setting up as much as possible, and when necessary, use Rest to restore yourself to full HP and clear away status. After that, you can start attacking or continue boosting thanks to its good bulk. Dragon Dance is for setting up, Rest is for recovering HP and clearing away status, Knock Off is a good STAB move that removes the opponent of their item, and High Jump Kick is an extremely powerful STAB move that heavily dents most of the metagame. Drain Punch is an option over High Jump Kick for reliability and recovery, but High Jump Kick is almost always recommended. Shed Skin is the chosen ability to shrug off status thrown at it, but it can also come in handy if you ever need to use Rest again. The EVs are just enough to outspeed Jolly Mienshao at +1, with the rest placed in bulk and Attack.

Arent most of these submissions on the analysis? Av scrafty and cb scrafty have definitely been talked about and are probably the next common after dd and bu. personally, i dont think adding sub on dd makes it amy different than dd with less coverage....

Lets be serious now, scrafty is slow and weak unless it has a few boosts. Dragon dance and knock off/hjk are pretty obvious. Counter and sash lets it ohko its normal checks ie scarf hera, shao, crobat who go for the easy ko. Counter doesnt take into account type resist and ohko even 252 hp crobat once brave bird hits. Florges is a pain, but what can you do? Drain punch can be used to beat close combat lucario hoping for the easy KO and you can ohko back while staying at full health...

It has the powet to OHKO mega aero, hera, shao, crobat, darmanitan, victini without any boosts thanks to counter to just name a few...

lol? do you really think i don't check the analysis before i make sets? do you really not think that intimidate + sub dd are different from moxie + 3 attacks dd? did you even bother putting your time reading the description? like seriously just because there is a set with dd on it doesn't mean other versions are completely the same because they aren't! if you like to think that, you will have to make an extremely gimmicky set on scrafty which this thread is not about! also on the av and cb sets, they are not mentioned in the analysis, so please back up your shit with some logic before saying shit

Bluwing i wasnt calling you out specifically with sub which does proteft it against status, but infiltrator crobat is still an issue as is for most scrafty sets.

I thought cb and av were on the analysis sorry about that. These were seen in early xy uu and i was mistaken

Scrafty @ Mental Herb
Ability: Shed Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Knock Off
- High Jump Kick
- Zen Headbutt

This is totally crossing into the realms of cold hard counterteaming, but this guy is perfect for doing good strong damage to Froslass teams. This was honestly the best thing I could come up with since +1 Scrafty doesn't even outspeed +spe 115s, and other sets are either too weak or slow to do anything else. Thanks to Mental Herb ignoring Taunt, you get a free Dragon Dance in her face, and with the above EVs, you're now faster than everything up to +spe Tornadus, whom you tie. Shed Skin comes into play as the ability to bypass even Thunder Wave Froslass. You can then DD again to outspeed even Crobat, Maero, and Scarf Hydreigon, subjecting the rest of the team to your mercy. However, it's better to just Knock Off, as going for the second DD means Froslass can Taunt you, and then Destiny Bond at its Sash to force you out and/or trade, meaning you accomplished nothing but a 1-1 (although definitely not a bad trade at all). However, if it looks like you can pull off getting the second DD, you're looking at some good strong damage. Since Scrafty has the bulk to take Extremespeeds even at half health, Lucario does nothing to stop its sweep. It also has a 4x resistance to Sucker Punch, meaning neither Honchkrow nor Mega Absol revenge kill you. Froslass teams can't even use Sableye to halt your sweep, as Shed Skin neutralizes any Prankster Will-O-Wisp attempts.

High Jump Kick is extremely strong at +1, OHKOing Haxorus and threatening to 2HKO bulky offensive and balance 'mons like Mega Blastoise, Swampert, and PDef Mega Amph. A lot of walls survive the 2HKO like Hippowdon and Forrretress, but they don't appreciate their Leftovers being hit by a good strong Knock Off. To be honest I could keep going, but I'm gonna keep this specific to Froslass teams. Since they're not used to facing +2 Scrafty, the three common Flying-types used on those teams as universal checks no longer apply. Mega Aerodactyl dies to +2 HJK, Noivern dies to +2 Knock Off, and Crobat dies to +2 Zen Headbutt. Speaking of which, Scrafty's Psychic-type coverage also allows it to get past Heracross, Nidoqueen, and Toxicroak.

A lot of this set also applies to Coba Berry Crobat, but I know some nerd is gonna get mad if I slash it, so I'm gonna just mention it so nobody else can take it :^)
