Back with a second batch. Unfortunately, no shinies on this one. But that's ok, I'm just starting it ^^

Hi all another 2 batches of 60 hatched, no shinies this time :/ working on another. Work this whole week so won't have much until Monday, will try staying up late to get some hatched.

Eggs hatched: 617
Shinies: 4
Shiny rate: 1:154

I'm back. 210 eggs hatched in total and still just the one shiny. I'm stopping for now, but maybe I'll come back another time and contribute some more. Thank you, TC; I wouldn't have my shiny Goomy if I hadn't seen this thread.

Sorry, but I don't really know what to do with all the spreadsheet columns. It all looks like a bit of a mess tbh anyway, but I've put down my name, my eggs hatched and my 1 shiny.

Everyone has been added and updated :) murdokdracul in my signature is another link to a locked spreadsheet that should make more sense lol ive added your name and totals. If you are on a phone and cant see signatures let me know and ill post the link in an actual post :) MagusDiablo glad you're back with us ^_^ ive added your new totals under the name MagusDiablo2 so your old totals dont go to waste. 360 Trapinch eggs hatched 0 shinies :( still chugging and I am hopeful that I will get it soon! 6 IV French Ditto with my 6 IV Jolly Trapinch with Superpower to get ready for ORAS! 1/6 chance for 31/31/31/X/31/31 and 1/32 (I think) for 31/31/31/31/31/31. Just joined smogon after going here for the last year for the pokemon simulator and in game chat and finally decided to join!

Another 200 down, no more shinies. Starting to stock up on Mawiles now, may aim specifically for a shiny on these.

New total : 4400 eggs, 14 shinies

Hey guus I just received a shiny charm ill help I already collected 600 eggs, will have 5 at a time. Have a FRE male Gardevoir and a JPN female Gardevoir working for a shiny ralts.

I just can't understand how bad is my hatching rate... when I see your posts, it appear to be so easy, I've made 1900 eggs during approximatively 1 month and, 0 shiny...

PS: With Masuda and Shiny Charm for sure

Keep at it, bro. Most people on this thread seem disappointed when they dont get a shiny after 60 eggs. I've hatched over 1400 eggs since my last shiny, and others such as you are having even worse luck, so I find it easier to ignore those other posts. Best of luck!

This is bad luck, but you have to realise this is statistics. Say the chance of a shiny is 1 in 500 (which seems to be roughly correct) - this doesn't mean you're guaranteed a shiny if you do 500 eggs, or even 10,000.

In your case, if it's binomial (1900,0.002) then it's a 3.1% chance you don't get a shiny. Ok, that is bad luck, but it's not inexplicable. I'm sure your patience will be rewarded if you keep at it!

I wanted to add that I heard that with the Shiny Charm, the rate of shiny would be 1/512 (caused by a binary system of the game), is it true or is it just a speculation ?
(Sorry if my English is not so good, I'm French)

I'd say it's very likely that the rate is 1/512 going by the data (and considering that would "make sense" in terms of how the calculation worked in previous generations).

Took a week break, but now I'm back... still no shiny though :(

Total hatched: 210
Hatched today: 90
Shinies: 0

It takes me longer to hatch because I'm trying to time machine one :o (I don't think that affects the probability though)

edit: hatched 30 more, changed numbers

Question for Midnyte:
Where on the spreadsheet can I see the current calculated shiny rate? To my brain it's just a mass of numbers. I figured out that the rate when we hit 250,000 eggs was 1:507 (really homing in on that 1:512) but I can't figure out where the current ratio is. Is it the value in box 2F?
