[DARK] The Dark Gym's Opening Battle (GemOftheDay challenges Geodude6)

Rules:
4v4 Gym doubles (leader brings 7)
3 day DQ
Infinite recovers/chills
3 substitutions
Switch = OK
Items = ON; no "training items" permitted.
0 mega evolutions
Turn order = coin flip
Arena: Dark Gym
Dark Gym
Type
: Dark
Complexity: Moderate
Format: All

Description: TBD
  • Due to their innate sneakiness, all Dark-type Pokémon are now immune to the effects of full trapping moves and the abilities Arena Trap, Magnet Pull, and Shadow Tag. Dark-type Pokemon can also now switch out while affected by a partial trapping move (ex. Whirlpool) but will still be damaged by their effect. This ability only affects Pokemon that are naturally Dark-type and is retained even if the Pokemon changes type.
  • The battle takes place at night. Moonlight always heals its maximum HP value, even if the sky is obscured.
  • Skill Swap is now blocked by Substitute.
  • The ability Rivalry has no effect, but cannot be Skill Swapped.
  • Pokemon may not be forcibly switched out; they may only be switched out by their trainer.
  • The Base Attack Power of Psychic, Ghost, and Poison-type moves is increased by 2.
  • The Gym leader may bring Gyarados, but Gyarados is always Mega Evolved and and must hold the Gyaradosite.
===

Codifications:
  • Camouflage changes the user to a Ghost-type. Secret Power has a 30% chance to confuse. Nature Power becomes Ominous Wind.

Team Geodude6:
Watch for Greninja, who can use Protean shenanigans to harass anyone. I know that from my experiences in the SiCK tournament.

Hanako [Greninja] (F)
Nature: Naive (+15% Spe, +23% Acc, -1 SpD)
Type:

: Water STAB; Ignores arena restrictions on Water attacks that require an external water source. Evasive Diving reduced from 6 per action Energy Cost to 5 per action.
: Dark STAB; ignores Attract and Confusion status entirely when using Dark-type damaging and non-damaging attacks.

Abilities:
Torrent: (Passive) When this Pokemon's HP is lower than 33%, the Base Attack Power of any water attack is increased by two (2). (eg Water Pulse goes from 6 to 8, Hydro Pump from 12 to 14)
Protean: (Toggle) When Active, this Pokemon switches their type before striking with each damaging attack to match the attack they are about to use, and keep that type until another damaging move is used. The energy cost for the attack is calculated based on their type before using the move. When Inactive, the Pokemon reverts back to their natural typing. Pokemon that also have Color Change ability may select whether to keep their current type or the damaging attack's type each action.

Nature: Jolly (+15% Spe, +14% Acc, -1 SpA)
Type:

: Dark STAB; ignores Attract and Confusion status entirely when using Dark-type damaging and non-damaging attacks.
: Ground STAB; immune to Sandstorm. Ignores Arena restrictions on Dig and Seismic Attacks for Arenas in which any land mass exists, Evasive Digging reduced from 6 per action Energy Cost to 5 per action.

Abilities:
Rebound: (Trigger) The Pokemon is able to bounce one layer of an entry hazard back from their side of the field to the other side with their immense strength and intuition.
Guts: (Passive) This Pokemon is tenacious and will work ever harder when under a status condition, raising the Base Attack Power of all its physical attacks by two (2). Pokemon with Guts ignore the attack drop from burn.
Pressure: (Passive) This Pokemon's presence fills the air with intense anxiety, and any damaging or status attack launched at this Pokemon costs the opposing Pokemon two (2) more energy to perform.

Doñakarasu [Honchkrow] (F)
Nature: Modest (+1 SpA, -1 Atk)
Type:

: Dark STAB; ignores Attract and Confusion status entirely when using Dark-type damaging and non-damaging attacks.
: Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks and the Arena Trap Ability except under the effects of Smack Down and Gravity, even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Will always hit foes with Dig (except other Flying types) and Dive. Cannot be hit by Dive unless the attacking Pokemon has a size class greater than four (4). Unaffected by Spikes or Toxic Spikes. when switching in. Able to hit Pokemon in the evasive stage of Bounce, Fly or Sky Drop with single target moves that hit Pokemon on the field regardless of position.

Abilities:
Insomnia: (Passive) This Pokemon is immune to sleep induced by other Pokemon. Its normal state of sleeplessness makes it take 1 less damage and energy/action from Ghost Curse. If it is put to sleep by a Pokemon with Mold Breaker, it will wake up the next action. If a Pokemon with Insomnia also has Vital Spirit, its Attack and BRT are increased by one (1) Rank and its accuracy is raised by one (1) stage permanently.
Super Luck: (Passive) This Pokemon's natural skill increases its critical hit levels one stage above other Pokemon, making its normal moves inflict critical hits 12.5% of the time and its high critical hit moves inflict critical hits 25% of the time.
Moxie: (DW, Passive) This Pokemon gets psyched after it earns a KO on an opposing Pokemon, increasing its attack by one (1) stage. This boost is maintained at the end of each round.

Type:

: Ghost STAB; immune to the effects of full trapping moves and the Arena Trap, Magnet Pull, and Shadow Tag abilities. Ghost types can switch out while affected by a partial trapping move, but they will be damaged every action by their effect.

Abilities:
Keen Eye: (Passive) This Pokemon has extremely good vision and cannot have its accuracy lowered by an opponent through any means (including accuracy lowering attacks, Smogs, Hazes, Fog, etc.). Its vision also enables it to see through any attempts by an opponent to increase their own evasion.
Stall: (Passive) This Pokemon has a watchful eye and immense patience. It can be ordered to attack last on any action regardless of ordinary attack priority. If an opponent orders their Pokemon to attack after the user of Stall, that attack will fail. Against another user of Stall, the trainer who issues attacks first has precedence and the opponent's attack will fail.
Prankster: (Passive) The Pokemon is always prepared for engaging in sneaky tactics and trickery, giving its non-damaging attacks a +1 increase in priority level.

Type:

: Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw.
: Dark STAB; ignores Attract and Confusion status entirely when using Dark-type damaging and non-damaging attacks.

Abilities:
Iron Fist: (Passive) The Base Attack Power of this Pokemon's "Punch" attacks is increased by two (2). [Pangoro's attacks affected: Comet Punch, Hammer Arm, Sky Uppercut]
Mold Breaker: (Passive) Whenever this Pokemon attacks, it emits an invisible, blindingly quick pulse preceding the attack that disables the opponents natural abilities. (e.g. Levitators plummet towards the ground before Earthquake hits, etc.) Attacks are still redirected by Lightningrod/Storm Drain, but damage is dealt normally. Status-immunity abilities such as Limber will remove their relevant status at the start of the victim's next action.
Scrappy: (Passive) This Pokemon's Normal and Fighting attacks carry a special signature that can damage Ghosts, even if they have phased out.

"Here I was, fretting over Lucario being an Illusioned Aurumoth, and then I find out that your Aurumoth hasn't even learned how to make illusions yet! How silly of me. And how sillier of you. To be honest I was expecting to see a Carracosta in that lineup."

The match begins with the challenger, GemOftheDay, sending out her Lucario and Steelix. That Lucario of her's used to belong to Geodude6, too. Speaking of Geodude6, he sends out his Greninja and Sableye.

The match begins with Sableye releasing a Will-o-Wisp at Lucario, but misses and wastes its time and energy. Greninja then releases a massive Pump of DiHydrogen monoxide at Steelix. Lucario then makes a Healing Pulse and launches it at Steelix, restoring a large amount of HP. Steelix then fails to do anything because it can't create 3 clones of itself, only two.

Lucario erects a Protective barrier around itself. Greninja then creates a Grass Knot and trips Steelix with it, somehow. How you manage to trip a snake, I have no clue. Sableye then Knocks Off Steelix's Rawst Berry, enabling it to get burned. Steelix proceeds to Dig underground and stay there.

Greninja then makes another Pump of DiHydrogen Monoxide, but it can't hit the underground Steelix. Lucario gains Foresight about how Sableye plans to evade, while Sableye adjusts for Steelix being underground and hits Lucario with a karate chop that can Break Bricks. Steelix then pops up out of the ground and hits Sableye.

Look at my shiny CT!
You forgot Steelix's Sturdy. Also you forgot Rare Candy on Grass Knot (but not Hydro Pump, strangely)

yeah, who would want to order first vs a ditto anyways? or a sableye for that matter...

Ditto: transform (sableye) -> Imprison (imprison, counter, mirror coat) -> dazzling gleam
IF Sableye uses taunt and you are sableye, use fake out (sableye) that action and push back.

Lucario: Focus blast (sableye) -> aura sphere (sableye) -> focus blast (sableye)
[ONCE] IF fake out, use quick guard that action and push back
IF sableye uses metal burst when you would move, then change target to greninja.

Guess what move Sableye doesn't have? Hint: it often gets confused with Magic Coat.

Greninja: U-Turn Ditto~Surf~Hydro Cannon Lucario

Just noticed an error in the reffing. Transform copies CURRENT stats of the pokemon that it is becoming, making ditto have 5/5/4/3 stats.

Metal powder then takes those stats and multiplies them by 1.5 rounded up, making it have 5/8/4/5 defenses.

Ditto should have taken 6.5 less damage, accordingto my calculations.

IF we reorder, then 'll still be sending in aurumoth, sans counterswitch

Look at my shiny CT!
Incorrect. Sableye has natural 3/3/4/3/43 stats; AFAIK Transform doesn't copy rank boosts from items. (though Mulan's stat display is still incorrect; Ditto should have stats of 3/5/4/5/43 after Metal Powder)

Drapion: Knock Off Aurumoth~Night Slash Aurumoth~Crunch Aurumoth
IF Aurumoth is under the effects of a protective/evasive action THEN redirect to Ditto.
IF you are targeted with Will-O-Wisp THEN use Protect and push actions back. Do not do so twice in a row.

Greninja: Dark Pulse Aurumoth~Night Slash Aurumoth~Dark Pulse Aurumoth
IF you are targeted with a damaging Bug-type move THEN use Aerial Ace Aurumoth.
IF Aurumoth is under the effects of a protective/evasive action THEN redirect to Ditto.
IF Aurumoth targets you with Close Combat THEN use Hidden Power Ditto.

Ditto: pain split (greninja) -> dazzling gleam -> foul play (drapion)
IF greninja uses protect on itself when you would use pain split, sub (15) the first instance, and chill all remaining instances, pushing back each time.
IF Drapion is KO'd a3, use moonlight that action.

Aurumoth: x-scizzor (drapion) -> bug buzz (drapion) -> x-scissor (drapion)
IF drapion is KO'd, redirect attacks to greninja.
IF drapion is under p/e effects, redirect to greninja

GG geodude. If it's not evident, I wasn't prepared for a gym battle at all!

I've been outbattled here. You are clearly worthy to be a gym leader.

Good luck with future challenges!
