Overview
########

Zubat has a 4x resistance to Grass-, Bug-, and Fighting-type attacks, as well as an immunity to Ground-type attacks. It also has access to Brave Bird, which hits most of those types super effectively. Zubat has access to Infiltrator, which allows it to attack through Substitutes, and it gets Defog, which clears away all entry hazards and screens on the field. With these resistances and abilities, Zubat works well as a support Pokemon. However, Zubat's subpar stats keep it from being able to take advantage of these good traits. Zubat has several good special moves, but it has a terrible Special Attack stat to back them up and it lacks good physical attacking moves. Zubat only hits 16 Speed, which means that it is outsped by many common threats such as Mienfoo, Archen, Trubbish, and Drilbur. Its pitiful defenses make it hard to use for extended periods of time, and its Stealth Rock weakness makes it hard to switch in, which it should be doing a lot.

Support
########
name: Support
move 1: Defog
move 2: Brave Bird
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Roost
ability: Infiltrator
item: Eviolite
evs: 196 HP / 76 Atk / 236 Spe
nature: Jolly

Moves
========
Defog is immensely important, as it allows Zubat to remove troublesome entry hazards. Brave Bird is Zubat's most powerful STAB attack and its best chance of being a threat to opposing Fighting-types. U-turn allows Zubat to switch out while dealing some damage, allowing Zubat to act as a pivot. Roost gives Zubat reliable recovery, as it takes heavy damage from switching into Stealth Rock, and therefore needs some means of recovering that health.

Set Details
========
Maximum investment in Speed and Attack is used so that Zubat can have as much offensive presence as possible, and a Jolly nature increases its Speed so that it can outspeed max Speed Scraggy. Eviolite should be run in order to increase Zubat's defenses. Without it, Zubat isn't likely to be able to survive most attacks, as Zubat's natural defenses are pitiful. Infiltrator allows Zubat to hit through Substitutes.

Usage Tips
========
Zubat can easily switch in on any Fighting-type move, as its Poison / Flying typing blesses it with a 4x resistance. From there, the opposing player will be forced to choose between staying in and taking a super effective STAB Brave Bird or switching, giving Zubat a free turn to Defog. However, offensive Mienfoo outspeeds Zubat, meaning that Mienfoo can simply U-turn out and take advantage of the opposing loss of momentum. Zubat's main job is to be a Defog user, keeping the field clear for its teammates. If possible, avoid using it as a sweeper, as so many other Pokemon are much better at this job. Also, avoid using Defog when the opponent has a Pokemon with Defiant, which would most likely be Pawniard. A free +2 Attack boost to an opposing Pokemon is not worth clearing the field of hazards.

Team Options
========
Volt Absorb Chinchou takes care of the Electric-type Pokemon that threaten Zubat, and Dark-type Pokemon easily neutralize Psychic-types. Running a Defog user like Zubat is optimal on a team with SturdyJuice users, such as Magnemite and Tirtouga. Zubat helps keep the field clear of entry hazards that would break Sturdy, and it effortlessly switches in on the Ground- and Grass-type moves that these two Pokemon fear. Don't run a Zubat if your team is also dependent on entry hazards, dual screens, or Sticky Web. Defog removes your team's entry hazards and screens as well, so Defog should only be used when you don't need those advantages.

Other Options
########
Whirlwind, Toxic, and Tailwind are some other support options that Zubat can run. Consider your team and its strengths and weaknesses when deciding what to use. A Nasty Plot set, taking advantage of Zubat's wide special movepool, would unfortunately be a little too slow to be effective. It can run any combination of these special moves, including Giga Drain, Heat Wave, Shadow Ball, and Sludge Bomb, in order to give it incredible coverage. Steel Wing can be used to hit Fairy- and Rock-types, but its low Base Power makes it less potent. Hypnosis is another support option Zubat can run, as it lets Zubat put a Pokemon to sleep and then pivot out with U-turn, but the poor accuracy makes it too much of a gamble to run. Finally, Inner Focus allows Zubat to ignore Fake Out from Pokemon such as Mienfoo and Aipom.

Checks & Counters
########

**Defiant**: Defog raises the Attack of Pokemon that have this ability by two stages. The most common Pokemon that runs Defiant is Pawniard, and it can be a dangerous threat at +2 Attack.

**Rock-type Pokemon**: Omanyte and Tirtouga can both set up on and subsequently KO Zubat. However, some Zubat carry Giga Drain, which can be a serious threat to both of them.

**Electric-type Pokemon**: Chinchou and Magnemite are both common Electric-types that take little damage from Zubat's attacks and threaten to OHKO Zubat with their powerful STAB attack.

**Psychic-type Pokemon**: Both Abra and Slowpoke threaten Zubat; however, these Pokemon must be more wary, as Abra doesn't want to switch into a Brave Bird and Slowpoke is outsped by Zubat, which can easily U-turn out.

Overview
########

+ 4x Resistance to Grass, Bug, and Fighting (the fighting resistance is actually really useful).
+ Immunity to Ground
+ Access to Infiltrator
+ Access to Defog, which now clears away more than it had previous to this generation
- Lacks access to four solid physical-attacking moves
- Despite having access to several, good special-attacking moves, has terrible special attack.
- Terrible Defenses
-Stealth Rock weakness

Support
########
name: Support
move 1: Defog
move 2: Brave Bird
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Roost
ability: Infiltrator
item: Eviolite
evs: 196 HP / 76 Atk / 236 Spe
nature: Jolly

Moves
========

- Defog is immensely important, at it allows you to remove rocks, spikes, and sticky webs.
- Brave Bird is a powerful STAB move that gives Zubat the potential of being a threat to Fighting-types.
- U-Turn allows a switch out while dealing some damage. It gives it a more pivot-y feel.
- Roost gives a boost in survivabilty.

Set Details
========

- Bulk your Zubat up, then put the rest in speed to make Zubat's speed not as awful.
- Jolly increases Speed which is fun.
- Eviolite gives increased survival ability.
- Infiltrator allows you to hit through Substitute and dual screens.

Usage Tips
========

- Switch in on Fighting types if needed, since they often times won't be able to deal enough damage with Fighting-type moves to even bother Zubat.
- Remember, the importance of this set is Defog. Don't get sidetracked thinking Zubat's going to sweep the entire other team.
- Don't Defog if an opposing Defiant Pokemon is still available. An unfortunate switch would be disastrous.

Team Options
========
- Volt-Absorb Chinchou takes care of the electric type Pokemon that threaten Zubat
- Dark-Type Pokemon neutralize the threat of several psychic types.
- Running a Defog user is optimal on a team with sturdy-juice users, like Magnemite and Tirtouga.
- Don't run a Defog Zubat if your team is also dependent on entry hazards, screens, or Sticky Webs.

Other Options
########

- Whirlwind, Toxic, and Tailwind are also options. Consider your team and its strengths/weaknesses when deciding what to run.
- Nasty Plot set, taking advantage of Zubat's wide special movepool.
- Steel Wing
- Hypnosis
- Inner Focus allows Zubat to ignore Fake Out from Pokemon like Mienfoo and Aipom.

Checks & Counters
########

**Defiant**: Since Defog lows Evasion, it raises the Attack of the Pokemon that have these abilities by two steps. This is most common is Pawniard.

**Rock-types**: Dwebble and Tirtouga can both set up on, and subsequently kill, Zubat.

**Electric Pokemon**: Chinchou and Magnemite are both common electric types that threaten Zubat.

**Psychic types**: Although less common in LC, Abra and Slowpoke are still both relatively common threats.

In my opinion the support set should be mentioned first, since Defog is best reason to run Zubat. List Defog as the primary move. There are plenty of support moves that can be slashed in on the set, such as Super Fang, Toxic, Roost, Whirlwind, etc, but I'd need someone else's opinion as to how they should be included (and if they should be included). Heat Wave can be an attacking option to hurt Pawniard expecting to switch into Defog, and it gives Zubat a way to hurt Ferroseed.

On the Scarf Set, Heat Wave can go in somewhere, preferably in the last slot since Steel Wing isn't doing anything to Spritzee (236 Atk Zubat Steel Wing vs. 212 HP / 196+ Def Eviolite Spritzee: 8-10 (29.6 - 37%) -- 1.1% chance to 3HKO) and it prevents Zubat from being a free switch-in to Steel-types.

Other Options: A Nasty Plot utilizes the plethora of special moves available to it (Air Slash, Sludge Bomb, Heat Wave, Shadow Ball, Giga Drain...), but its awful SpA holds it back.

I switched the sets. Thank you.

And as for the Heat Wave, are you suggesting a full specially attacking Zubat? That would be interesting with Nasty Plot. I'll try that.

How does this look:

Special (Zubat) @ Eviolite
Ability: Infiltrator
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Def / 196 SAtk / 36 SDef
Modest Nature
- Air Slash
- Heat Wave
- Sludge Bomb / Giga Drain
- Nasty Plot

I was about to mention a nasty plot set however id say you need speed otherwise your missing out on zubats main trait
edit: nvm damn never knew zubat was that slow.

Move Toxic to AC or whatever that's called now, and put Roost in its spot. Toxic isn't commonly used in LC because it is better for longer and more drawn-out battles, which LC is not. Roost gives it some survivability which the poor bat needs.

Yeah, Mike, that's the main problem with running a Nasty Plot set. Zubat's not fast enough to compete with the tier without a scarf, but also not tanky enough to be used as a Nasty Plot sweeper. That's why the better set is definitely the Support/Defog set.

And, athleteandy1, fixed.

Edit: Screw it, I'm doing the Nasty Plot set.

If defog is, as you say, the crux of the set, I would add Zubat's access to defog into the overview and note that defog is a crucial move in gen 6 and Zubat has received a nice buff with the new defog mechanics. As well as its pivoting ability.
Be more specific when you say "dark type pokemon, especially sucker punchers". Pawniard works perfectly here.
"- Probably your best option is to not run Zubat." remove this please.
Again, in Checks & Counters, can you be more specific than "everything in top ten usage".
Please alter the formatting of your Checks & Counters sections, it needs to look like this:
**Fairy types**: Spritzee and Snubbull are both immune to Axew's stab and are bulky enough to receive little damage from coverage moves unboosted. Snubbull especially because of intimidate.

I've implemented most of these things.

I removed the comment on not running Zubat, but you should understand. It's a joke. Go look at any analysis. You'll probably see some.
And I don't believe I'm required to change my format to that until GP, but I suppose I'll do it now.

A couple of things. The defog set has a spot-on move set but your EVs are off. I'm not sure if you're aware but in LC it is much more beneficial to invest in defense than hp, especially when using eviolite. (Even if you're using a move like brave bird alot) So just take off all those Hp evs and put them in defense/special defense. Also band zubat deserves a set because it smashes stuff like mienfoo and life orb/norm jem aipom who get pwnd by inner focus for surprise ohkos.
Overall though you did a pretty good job!

your set details don't match with you EV description - you mention impish but list as jolly
you mention super fang in usage tips without mentioning it

you mention infiltrator in overview, but list on the set as inner focus - tbh infiltrator is a better ability change to that.

it's mostly good though, just give it a check through for edits, and i'll give it a check.

i suppose add random shit like steel wing and hypnosis to OO

Overview:
Mention a weakness to Stealth Rock.

Support:
Jolly doesn't boost defense.
Mention that Infiltrator also allows Zubat to Brave Bird through Substitutes.

Other Options:
You make Focus Sash Zubat seem too welcoming; try rewording it to "Taunt + Focus Sash is a possibility" or something along those lines.

Hm tbh I don't really think Taunt needs a mention. The only real user of Taunt in Little Cup is Mienfoo, who you OHKO-2hko with Brave Bird (cbf to get calcs) and doesn't want to stay in anyway. Zubat has some utility in beating things like Mienfoo or Timburr and isn't completely useless when Taunted. Mention how it outspeeds Scraggy, which is a buff, while also 2hkoing bulkier sets. This makes Taunt more viable I guess and could possibly be slashed over Roost. You would thne move U-turn to the 3rd slot, as TBH I would always find time to U-turn but rarely find time to Roost (not like its living many hits anyway). Other than that this analysis just needs filled out more, its very lacking. I'll do some more research and stuff but for now I'm not qcing this

- remove taunt mention as TCR said, it's not really usable against anything
"Infiltrator allows you to hit through Substitute, granting Zubat the ability to Defog despite another Pokemon's use of Substitute." remove this, as you can defog even against subbed opponents

Implemented that and TCR's comments. writting. and i'll be sure to fill it out and stuff. also, i've lost track, is that what moves should look like?

Goddess Briyella

Banned deucer.
Okay, it needs to be mentioned somewhere that Zubat's stats are subpar and they hold it back despite its few good traits. It also should be noted that it only hits 16 Speed, which leaves it outsped by important Pokemon including Mienfoo, Archen, Trubbish, and Drilbur. Highlight Zubat's advantages over other Defog users, especially Archen.

Zubat can easily switch in on any Fighting-type move, since its Poison / Flying typing blesses it with a 4x resistance. From there, the opposing player will be forced to choose between staying in and taking a STAB super effective Brave Bird or switching while giving Zubat a free turn to Defog.
This does not apply to offensive Mienfoo, which has 17 Speed and can U-turn out to a Flying resist before Zubat can move. It may still get to use Defog, but it does that in exchange for having momentum entirely shifted against it if the Mienfoo user isn't an idiot.

Add these things and it's good to go.

Final QC Approved
