SiC(K) round 2: Birkal vs. smashlloyd20

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! Tonight's battle is part of round 2 of the Sharing is Caring (Kinda) tournament, pitting Birkal against Smash!
Da Rules said:
Bring 4, Pick 2 Singles. You PM 4 pokemons to the ref, but the battle will be 2vs2 singles. You will choose your mons as the battle develop.
ASB Arena
Strict 3-day Disqualification.
You will get a single warning per round. After that, you go over DQ and you're done. Referees please tag the combatants when you have finished your reffing. Players, if you know you're going to be away you better post a Leave of Absence BEFORE you leave, or give a very good reason in case of an emergency.
Strict 4-day Disqualification for Refs. Same rules as above (one warning and then BAM). Also, you can be sure as hell that I will jump in to subref anyone if necessary.
3 Substitutions.
Turn Order: Coin Flip
2 Recovery/5 Chills per pokemon
All Abilities
All Items
Switch=OK
Mega Clause: 1
PHAZING RULE: If a pokemon is sent back to the pokeball by a phazing move, the trainer (of the pokemon sent back obv.) chooses who will be the replacement
So let's look at our two warriors, shall we?

It seems to be agreed that combo is illegal (I asked Texas, Frosty, etc. on IRC to confirm) so I guess this round can be reffed now?

I find this excruciatingly frustrating that my combination was thrown out without so much as a peep from the referee. I'd like to see a formal reasoning of why these moves can't be used in combination. I have evidence in the form of an entire series of video games utilizing both of these moves to repay damage. I also have flavor on my back in that all Wobbuffet does is wobble; that's its only way of retribution. I fail to see how combining a wobble with a wobble is illegal.

[23:36] <%Birkal> lad you're really not gonna allow counter + mirror coat o__o?
[23:36] <%Birkal> it's in freaking smash bros, lol
[23:37] <Lad> I really can't see it working
[23:37] <PsYkIk> lol
[23:37] <Lad> And neither does anyone else, I'm afraid
[23:39] <%Birkal> ...
[23:39] <%Birkal> so you haven't played smash bros
[23:39] <%Birkal> because I can pull up a video
[23:40] <Lad> Just because it worked in smash doesn't mean it's gonna work here.
[23:43] <%Birkal> I fail to understand
[23:43] <%Birkal> the Pokemon in smash bros are as real of Pokemon as the ones shown in the anime
[23:43] <%Birkal> I'm just having difficulty here because this seems to be a highly subjective call on your part, whereas I have an actual series of games to back up my claim
[23:43] <%Birkal> ALSO matches that have allowed the combination
[23:44] <%Birkal> and it's not like I'm even winning this match, lol
[23:44] <%Birkal> I got severely ripped out of the whole encore + solar beam gig
[23:44] <%Birkal> it just seems like a pretty blatant act on your part, I dunno if I rub you the wrong way or what
[23:45] <%Birkal> but just because smash can post "since when has that combo been a thing" doesn't discredit it >__>
[23:45] <%Birkal> this is what wobbuffet does. it wobbles.
[23:45] <Avnomke> tbh I can't see it either
[23:45] <%Birkal> ok, so what can't you see
[23:45] <Avnomke> and isn't wobb in brawl just countering attacks, in general?
[23:46] <%Birkal> no
[23:46] <%Birkal> "A Patient Pokémon, Wobbuffet lives in darkness to hide its mismatched black tail. Even for a stoic Pokémon, this creature is a testament to self-control; it will not actively attack an opponent. Its Counter and Mirror Coat moves are solely used for reflecting attacks directly back at its antagonist. (Pokemon Gold & Silver 10/00)"

Yo Birkal, chill. It isn't cool to single Wanderer out with "[23:44] <%Birkal> it just seems like a pretty blatant act on your part, I dunno if I rub you the wrong way or what" when literally no one has supported the combination when asked on irc, over several occasions. I don't care if you get your way here or not but don't steamroll people in the process.
