Late but why didn't korra rage avatar state when she thought that zaheer, you know, killed her dad?
Funny you mention this.

In The Last Airbender, Aang is a peaceful guy. He first triggers the avatar state due to rage and heavy emotio, and generally activates it that way. Aang rarely ever had control over the avatar state, and this happened again in the comics where Aang was this close to ending Zuko.
In LoK, Korra is a hotheaded, rebellious person. She first triggers the avatar state once shes at peace after Aang restored her bending. Korra has never triggered the Avatar State through rage, and actively tried to keep the state under her control. She even used the avatar state for fun to win an air scooter race.

I heard a theory that says they think the villains for this season are metal nazis. We had communism in season 1, theocracy in season 2, anarchy in season 3, it makes sense for 4 to be fascism. The metal clan could potentially arise as the dominant force in a torn apart Earth Kingdom (see: war torn Germany). Just a theory, but sounds legit.

tbh if Fire Benders have control over electricity, they could in theory control the electromagnetic spectrum which includes light and could thereby actually bend the light around them and their foes to either make them invisible or create other cool effects. light and dark benders just being advanced fire benders. gg
