I've got a technical question regarding using Mega Scizor on Wifi. I've finally built my first wifi team after months of breeding and procurement (personal shout out to Gonzo206 who traded me a Knock Off Scizor).

My question is this: WHY do both the official PGL stats and what appears to a Japanese equivalent of Smogon (Read: http://yakkun.com/xy/theory/) seem to advocate U-Turn (Dragonfly away home - lol) AND swords dance on the same set? Is this not incredibly counter productive?

Would be grateful for the thoughts of the community :)

Hello, I'm looking for an Axew spitback, must be jolly and male with IVs: 31/31/x/x/31/x (31 in HP, Atk and special def), If he already knows Dragon Dance better also don't care about ability.

I'm offering one of this pokemons:

Honedge, Quiet male 31/31/31/x/31/31 with No Guard
Noibat, Timid Female 31/x/31/x/31/31 With Frisk
Aron, Adamant Female 31/31/31/x/x/31 With Sturdy

All of them are japanese spitbacks so you can Masuda Method with them.

If interested PM me!

It is in-case a threat comes out so you can set-up or retreat with dealing damage.

That's all well and good but you lose any boosts you've accrued prior to that when you switch.

Is the effect of that not as severe as 6v6? I.e Smogon OU?

My understanding is that this is a combination generally frowned upon as you negate your increase in momentum after using U-Turn.

Sometimes it is worth losing an increase to save a pokemon for later use.

Ironworks Chamber is also nice for it. (If you don't mind losing a little happiness on it by getting it KO'd, or having a Kalos Champion Ribbon on it if you decide to beat the Elite 4.)
I know this is a few hours late, but I'd like to point out that if you'd prefer neither of the two, you could simply deposit it in the Bank (or trade it to someone).

That way, your freshly hatched 'mon in any E4/Champion chamber won't lose any happiness or be awarded a ribbon. Win-win, right?

EDIT:
Can't deposit to Bank directly from party. Also, trading adds additional location data.
Thanks, .com
Sorry for the alert, .com, but I couldn't see an alternative to responding to this whilst keeping it relevant...

Ewww... Adding additional "Visited geo-location" data to it... That sounds much worse. :P
But yes that's an option too :) (although happiness is reset on trading anyways, so it's not a massive deal either way).
Don't worry about it :)

Hi all, I'm recently attempting the time machine breeding method to make HP breeding a little more bearable.

I just want to know from those who uses this method if the gender + ability is fixed as well along with IVs, cause I'm currently attempting to breed a HP Ice pokemon with its HA.

I

l'll agree to disagree with you on this. I fail to see the point of a set up move that can't always be set up or used effectively. Thanks for your input though :)
Well, no I agree with you, haha. I was just throwing ideas out there with scizor running Swords Dance, I'd rather run baton pass so it doesn't go to complete waste. :)

Does seem strange. Unless the Japanese have a strategy we haven't thought of? Presumably their stats contribute more to the official Nintendo metagames than anyone else so that explains the similar trends (between the website I posted and the PGL website).

I'd like to actually use Knock Off given that Gonzo put in a lot of effort to RNG it at some point! Bullet Punch/Knock Off provides better coverage than Bullet Punch/U-Turn after all.

Hi! Remember that battle spot matches are A LOT faster paced than regular smogon formats. In singles, each side only gets 3 pokemon, so the cost of switching is high. U-turn mitigates this cost somewhat. Especially if scizor can take a weak neutral hit and then switch into a full-health counter. Using swords dance, especially on the switch, can turn what was a 2HKO into an OHKO, which would completely shut the opponent down.

Though, looking at my google translate of this pokemon, I have no idea what the first move is supposed to be. Can someone translate the google translate?

Pretty sure the moveset is Bullet Punch/U-Turn/Swords Dance/Roost so standard stuff really.

What really intrigues me is the EV spread and the amount of thought they have put into it. For reference its 236 HP / 52 Atk / 52 Def / 76 SpD / 92 Spe.

This is totally specialised for battle spot by the look of it so may be worth adopting it. Not a lot of love for Thundurus though.

Edit: forgot to say: Thanks for your input. Really appreciate it :)

I'm new to it myself but it's all fixed. Gender, ability, it's identical to your test.
