Shiny Charm and Masuda Method

Hatched 100 more numels, got a shiny one. :)

New total: 2200 hatched, 6 shiny.

This is incredible. I've completely filled a pc box with shinies that were caught or bred in X. The shinies I caught in all previous games combined don't even fill half a box. And of course, none of those were bred with good stats. Gen 6, the era of quality sparklemons! :D

Hello everyone,

I just finished my living pokedex and got my shiny charm.
I'm now ready to start my quest for a sparkling army and would like to contribute here by posting my results.

I'd set my first goal as 100 eggs. But before I start I need confirmation that the Masuda method is working if I'm playing on a German 3DS with a German pokemon X set to English and breeding with a German ditto (it says GER in its summary)

Do both Parents say GER? if so then No MM won't work It doesn't matter if what language the game is set in, I just matters that the parents have different language indicators, (let say you have an English game, the parent's can be SPA and ITA, or GER and ITA, or JPN and ITA, etc. but if you have two parents in an English game that are GER MM will not work) hope that helps

Hello everyone.

I would like to contribute what I can to this thread, as I have been trying to expand my array of shiny Pokémon and this works with my goals.

Currently hatching: Mareep.
Current total hatched: 0 (Will try to update in multiples of 100.)
Current number of shinies hatched: 0

I will start on this tomorrow with a target of 100. However it says this on the pokemon wikia
The Shiny Charm (Japanese: ひかるおまもり, Hikaru Omamori, literally meaning; "Shiny Amulet") is a key item that, when obtained, increases the chances of encountering Shiny Pokémon to 3 times the normal rate: a 1 in 2,370.6 chance. It can be obtained when you catch all Pokémon in the National Pokédex. Mixed with the Masuda method makes getting a shiny makes it 8 times the normal rate, a 1 in 1024 chance.

Damn I've been gone for a long time. over 100 pages on this and nearly 300k eggs wow. At this point it seems almost certain that the chance is 1/512.

Anyway, has anyone looked into this?:
Edit: oops sorry need to give some context, this is for the egg rng abuse method where you hatch with magikarp test parents then switch to the pokemon you actually want to breed
I just realized that this can provide a definitive answer for the oft-asked question, Is the Masuda Method based on the language played ingame, or the region of the game cart itself?

After hatching a Masuda shiny using the rng method, reset and swap the parents for two pokemon of different languages but same region. If the pokemon is no longer shiny, the Masuda method is based on region. If the pokemon remains shiny, reset and swap the parents for two local pokemon. If the pokemon is no longer shiny, then the Masuda method is based on language.

You can be sure that I'll be trying this out if I ever hatch a shiny (I wish). In the meantime, if anyone else does hatch a shiny, make sure to test this out.

I don't know how many eggs I hatched exactlly with shint charm so I'm gonna keep track now and start from 0! Pledge: 500. Let's see if I'm in luck this time!

One says GER the other is blank, so I assume it counts as different.
Also first shiny after 31 eggs ^^
Will post full data once my first goal is reached.

Yeah that works so long as they are different, if one is blank that just means that mon was generated in a game whose language at the time was set to whatever yours is set to now, like you said it's English so your game recognizes it as the same language, but the GER in lets say my one German game would also be blank, but an English mon be it from the UK/AU/US will show up in my game as ENG and that would also work, or like I said any other combination with different language indicators.

500 done with shiny charm when started counting. 0 shinies. Next pledge: 1000

Curentlly: 728/1000. No shinies yet. Gonna keep going towards 1000

(i don't know how many SC/MM pokemon I bred, but i assume it's around 1500/2000 and only 1 shiny wich was in the first 20. I'm out of luck.)

edit: 761/1000. First shiny from when I started counting! Shiny Phantump, but with wrong ability. Next up: mawile. After that ima retry phantump for right ability. First ima get to 1000 counted eggs!

300 Karrablast into my latest project, nothing new yet. 5900 eggs, 19 shinies.

::Edit:: Make that 6000 eggs, 19 shinies.

::Edit2:: 6100 eggs, 19 shinies.

::Edit3:: 6200 eggs, 19 shinies; that makes 600 Karrablast, and a dry run of 800. Personal best/worst? Kinda sick of Karrablast right now.

::Edit I stopped counting:: 6300 eggs, 19 shinies

On your Phantump, were you trying to get Natural Cure and ended up with Frisk? If so, you can use the Ability Capsule. If you were looking for Harvest, unfortunately you will need to keep breeding...

I know this pain; I've hatched 3 shiny Chespin with Overgrow T_T

Unfortunatly harvest. Thats why I'm doing mawile first. She doesnt need a HA.

Hello i'm new to this forum but i was hatching eggs for shiny quite a long time now so i contributed my data here hope it can be useful
All my data take from my game PokemonY
7500 eggs - Masuda - Shiny Charm : 9 shiny hatch
Before that i hatched about 8000 eggs and found 1 shiny but that's not Masuda breed. May be that's just luck

Are you still accepting submissions into this awesome project?
I've just created an account here, but knew about this thread for a long time.
I'd like to say that I hatched a shiny Aron an hour or so ago.
It took me 270 eggs to get it, and yes I have the Shiny Charm.

Now, I'm going for a Shiny Rotom. 25 eggs so far, I'll report back once I get it :)
