Multifaction/FFA Godly Mafia - Game Over - Factions Law and Evil win, Neutrals THE_IRON_KENYAN and imperfectluck win

"Your armies... may have distracted me from watching you... but I will still triumph!" shouts Haunted.Shadow, vanishing instantly.

"Ah, but we have a couple ways around your Shadow Force, ... Giratina." speaks THE_IRON_KENYAN.

And with that, two light cycles smash into the ether, causing Haunted.Shadow to cry out in pain, and then rocks fall, killing him and returning him to the ether.
Dear Haunted.Shadow,
You are Giratina.

You are the strange ghost of a dragon, haunting the Distortion World until someone attracts your attention.

You were exiled from the regular world for your violence, but don’t seem to have any malice any more. As such, you are the Neutral aligned towards Chaos. This means that you should find the gods of Chaos, and ally with them - they know to find Giratina.

You may use “Cycle X - Shadow Force USER” to become untargetable by non-attacks for next cycle, immune to attacks this cycle, and do ten damage USER next cycle. The only action you may take the cycle this attack hits is Draco Meteor, and you cannot use Draco Meteor the cycle you use this. This attack bypasses all forms of roleblocking, including bodyguards.

You may also “Cycle X - Draco Meteor USER.” The first time you use this, it does 15 damage The next attack, it does only 10 damage, and from then on, it only does 5 damage.

Forme Change - In a cycle you do not use Shadow Force (either part of it), then you may change formes. Default is whichever you specify Cycle 1, even if you use Shadow Force. In Origin Forme, you trade defenses (taking 5 more damage per attack) in order to do 5 more damage with each of your attacks.
You can “Cycle X - Observe USER” through any reflective surface to learn their full role PM.

Once in the game, you may “Cycle X - Rest.” While this will restore you to full HP, you will be unable to perform any actions the next two cycles.

You win with ten victory points. You achieve them as follows:
One (1) for damaging member of Good or Evil. [max 1 time]
Two (2) for damaging member of Law. [max 3 times]
Two (2) for killing member of Law. [max 2 times]
Two (2) for killing members of Good or Evil. [max 2 times]
One (1) for outliving the Law-oriented Neutral.
Negative One (-1) for being outlived by the Law-Oriented Neutral.
In addition, you can only win if you gain more Victory Points than the Law-Oriented Neutral.
Looks like he was in Origin Forme.

So, what could beat Shadow Force, what could hit that which cannot be hit? Well, TIK for one:
Dear THE_IRON_KENYAN,
You are Uatu the Watcher.

You live on the moon and only show yourself when something major is going to happen.

As you live by a strict code of not interfering, you are the Neutral aligned towards Law. This means that you should find the gods of Law, and ally with them - they know to find Uatu the Watcher.

Your mere presence warns people that something big is going to happen. You may choose to “Cycle X - Stand near USER.” USER will be warned of attackers, and flee them, taking half total damage before any bodyguard effects are applied (rounding up to the nearest 5).

You can also “Cycle X - Do Not Interfere With USER.” You will NOT interfere with some event that would do 10 damage to USER. This goes after everything that you do not do, but it cannot be stopped. It will take you a cycle to find another event, though.
You may “Cycle X - Observe USER.” You will find their full Role PM. This cannot be stopped.

Finally, you may “Cycle X - Observe the vulnerability of USER.” If the Law faction has gained any direct information about USER, then Law’s attacks will do 5 more damage to that target. If you have Observed that target, then you will do 5 extra damage. This ability’s effects last forever.

You win with ten victory points. You achieve them as follows:
One (1) for damaging member of Good or Evil. [max 1 time]
Two (2) for damaging member of Chaos. [max 3 times]
Two (2) for killing member of Chaos. [max 2 times]
Two (2) for killing members of Good or Evil. [max 2 times]
One (1) for outliving the Chaos-oriented Neutral.
Negative One (-1) for being outlived by the Chaos-Oriented Neutral.
In addition, you can only win if you gain more Victory Points than the Chaos-Oriented Neutral.
THE_IRON_KENYAN has 11 Victory Points, and can no longer lose. As he is a neutral, this means he has no true teammates to assist in victory (though this DOES help Law a bit), so he is removed from the game, though he can still talk to anyone. Looks like he had... 5 hp. That was a close one.

PokeguyNXB is back.

The moon is still falling (not the one TIK lived on)! And now there's a blizzard howling (no in-game effect, though).

IT IS NOW CYCLE 10. CYCLE 10 WILL END OCTOBER 7 AT 7 PM GMT-4.

Walrein has died: Spirit judged, crossbow bolt, and computerized gladiatorial games. He was:
Dear Walrein,
You are Majora.

You plunged Termina into a Groundhog’s Day Loop while you tried to bring down the moon.

Because you seek the end of Termina but can only see things as a game, you are: Chaotic Evil, member of Chaos.

Instead of having the full 50 hp, you only have 20, but you have four lives with it, and only the death of your last life reveals your role PM and gives victory points. When on the Skull Kid, nothing of note will take place. When in Majora’s Mask form, the Moon will appear overhead. When in Majora’s Incarnation form, the Moon will appear to get closer. When in Majora’s Wrath form, the Moon will appear to be slowly falling. If one of your forms is slain, you will resurrect in your next form after one cycle of being missing (Skull Kid -> Mask -> Incarnation -> Wrath)

You may “Cycle X - Bring USER into a Groundhog Loop” to force them to repeat their last cycle’s actions if possible. Note that you may not target the same user twice in a row, nor will this affect faction-specific abilities (namely, the ones distributed each cycle).
You may choose to “Cycle X - Bring a Moon down on USER.” USER will take five damage.

You gain victory points as follows:
One (1) for each member of Law who dies.
One (1) for each member of Law you outlive, starting with the second.
One (1) for each member of Chaos other than yourself who achieves victory.
One (1) for your associated neutral (given in your team PM) winning.
One (1) for each member of Good who dies.
One (1) for at least two members of Evil winning.
Negative One (-1) for at least two members of Good winning.
Also, Every member of Good receives one Victory Point if you die.
Oh, good. Someone caught the moon. No longer falling.

With that, the two Lawful Neutral members of LAW have won. By cascading victories, their Lawful Good and Lawful Evil buddies win, too. LAW faction is victorious; nothing can take their victory away. They were:
Welcome, axiomatic gods of Law.

Each of you individually wins if you personally gain ten victory points.

Your team is as follows:
Celever - Jupiter - Prevent Interference
Slim Guldo - Anubis - Knower
LonelyNess - Abadar - Knower
Ditto - CLU - Ditto Fighter, Prevent Interference

If you desire safe claims, then a character from Roman mythology, an Egyptian god, a Pathfinder God, and a character from Tron are all taken by yourselves, and no one else has them (so same general grouping is best).
You know that Uatu the Watcher is a neutral in this game who you should strongly consider finding and allying with.

You may choose between each of you the following powers (maximum one per person, maximum one usage of any one power each night).

Inspector - Receive target’s full role PM.
Bodyguard - Block 5 incoming damage per still-living faction member.
Attack - Do 5 damage to target. Five more per dead ally.
Watcher - Find who your target was targeted by.
Tracker - Find who your target targeted.
Role Ensure - Target’s actions will go off without a hitch.

Additionally, every cycle you may collectively bring the law down on one target. For the next two cycles, they will be vulnerable such that any faction or neutral who has targeted them with a tracker, any form of inspector, HP finder (such as Anubis’s power), or caught them with a watcher, will do an extra 5 damage with each attack. This lasts two cycles, starting with the cycle after you use it.

Your role PMs are below. Good Luck.

___________
Dear Celever,
You are Jupiter.

Hail, the king of the Roman gods, and god of the sky and thunder.

As the just god of rulership, you are: Lawful Good, member of Law.

As the king of the gods, anyone who targets you with a hostile action twice in a row will fail the second time.

As a sky god, you may choose to “Cycle X - Prevent Interference from targets.” Name one fourth of the remaining players not a part of Law, and they will be unable to interfere - directly or not - with Law’s actions. This means their actions will resolve or not as most beneficial to your faction, taking your given actions as the ideal (so they can redirect you, but only if they would redirect your attack to someone else you’re attacking after someone else would redirect you away, or under similar circumstances.)
You may choose to “Cycle X - Thunder USER.” USER will take ten damage from a bolt of divine retribution. Lightning takes time to charge up, so this cannot be used if, in the previous cycle, you hit your target or a bodyguard action.

You gain victory points as follows:
One (1) for each member of Chaos who dies.
One (1) for each member of Chaos you outlive, starting with the second.
One (1) for each member of Law other than yourself who achieves victory.
One (1) for your associated neutral (given in your team PM) winning.
One (1) for each member of Evil who dies.
One (1) for at least two members of Good winning.
Negative One (-1) for at least two members of Evil winning
Also, Every member of Evil receives one Victory Point if you die.

___________

Dear Slim Guldo,
You are Anubis.

Apparently you have a Jackal head, though I’m not sure how that helps in your job with the dead.

As an impartial helper in judging the dead, you are Lawful Neutral, member of Law.
As a guide for souls of the dead, you will always learn the persons who struck the deathblow against someone. Some deathblows will not result in a death, though. Strangely.

You can choose to “Cycle X - Weigh the hearts of USER1 and USER2.” This will reveal how much HP your targets have.

Every cycle, you may choose to “Cycle X - Judge USER’s Spirit.” This does five damage to your target.

You gain victory points as follows:
One (1) for each member of Chaos who dies.
One (1) for each member of Chaos you outlive, starting with the second.
One (1) for each member of Law other than yourself who achieves victory.
One (1) for your associated neutral (given in your team PM) winning.
One (1) for living until the end of the game.
One (1) for personally killing a member of Chaos.

___________

Dear LonelyNess,
You are Abadar.

You are the golden god of wealth, cities, law, civilization, and judges

You are interested mainly in civilization, so you are: Lawful Neutral, member of Law.

As the god of wealth and civilization, you have the gold to pay for spies to get the full role PMs (minus the usernames) of the first three distinct people to attack you.
You also have the gold to “Cycle X - Pay spies to get a copy of USER’s results.” Any results USER received, you will receive a copy of.

You may “Cycle X - Shoot USER.” You will shoot your target with a crossbow for 5 damage.

___________

Dear Ditto,
You are CLU.

You were created in the likeness your world’s god, but revolted against him in the name of the order he told you to create, and which he abandoned.

Because you seek perfect order, but will use any means to achieve it, you are Lawful Evil, member of Law.

As you were made in the likeness of a being with great power, designed to have his powers, whenever someone targets you with an active power (not a side effect of a passive, nor an attack, nor a faction-distributable power), you will gain that power as a one-time use ability. You cannot gain a power from anyone more than once, nor more than one power from a Neutral.

You may choose to “Cycle X - Control the Perfect System” and name three users to prevent their actions from being interfered with, except by each other. Only one user you name can be a member of Law or the Law-associated Neutral.

You may choose to “Cycle X - Put USER in the games.” USER will take five damage this cycle and five the next. This is unblockable, but you cannot use this two cycles in a row.

You gain victory points as follows:
One (1) for each member of Chaos who dies.
One (1) for each member of Chaos you outlive, starting with the second.
One (1) for each member of Law other than yourself who achieves victory.
One (1) for your associated neutral (given in your team PM) winning.
One (1) for each member of Good who dies.
One (1) for at least two members of Evil winning.
Negative One (-1) for at least two members of Good winning.
Also, Every member of Good receives one Victory Point if you die.
This means that PokeguyNXB can no longer win:
Dear PokeguyNXB,
You are Mab.

You are the queen of air and darkness, queen of the Winter Fae.

As you subscribe to blue-and-orange morality, you are: Chaotic Neutral, member of Chaos.

As an immortal, the first time you die, you will resurrect two cycles later with 20 hp. Your role PM will not be revealed in case of your first death, and for victory points, this will not be considered a death.

Your mastery of winter means that you can “Cycle X - Blizzard USER.” Your target will be snowed in and unable to do anything.

You may “Cycle X - Send the Winter Knight against USER.” Your target will take 10 damage. However, if this action completes (either against the target or a bodyguard), then they will fight back, harming your Knight enough to force you to let him rest the next night.

You gain victory points as follows:
One (1) for each member of Law who dies.
One (1) for each member of Law you outlive, starting with the second.
One (1) for each member of Chaos other than yourself who achieves victory.
One (1) for your associated neutral (given in your team PM) winning.
One (1) for living until the end of the game.
One (1) for personally killing a member of Law.
Oh, hey, what's this?
Welcome, anarchic gods of Chaos.

Each of you individually wins if you personally gain ten victory points.

Your team is as follows:
Soviet - Lord Helix - Safeguard
zorbees - Aphrodite - Martyr
PokeguyNXB - Mab - Hook
Walrein - Majora - Groundhog loop

If you desire safe claims, then a character from Twitch Plays Pokemon, a Greek god, a character from the Dresden Files, and a being from the Legend of Zelda are all taken by yourselves, and no one else has them (so same general grouping is best)

You know that Giratina is a neutral in this game who you should strongly consider finding and allying with.

Unlike other factions, the rules of which are below in selecting powers, you select powers differently. At the cost of not choosing an inspector, you may have two bodyguards, or at the expense of having no bodyguards, you may choose two inspectors. At the cost of choosing neither bodyguard nor inspector, you may choose any one role three times.

You may choose between each of you the following powers (maximum one per person, maximum one usage of any one power each night)
Inspector - Receive target’s full role PM.
Bodyguard - Block 5 incoming damage per still-living faction member.
Attack - Do 5 damage to target. Five more per dead ally.
Redirector - First target’s actions are redirected to the second target.
Safeguard - Block all non-attack actions from affecting the target.
Dickens/Framer - Target’s role PM appears differently for two cycles to inspectors not a member of Chaos.

Your role PMs are below. Good Luck.
IT IS NOW CYCLE 11. Come on, make this the last. Please. It ends Sunday at 5:30 PM GMT-4, though I won't update until a bit after then.

Twin weapons slash out, and shade perishes.
Dear shade,
You are the Dovahkiin.

Dragonborn, Dragonborn, by his honor is sworn / To keep evil forever at bay!

Because of how you can be any alignment in-game, I had to go with that song, which means you are the Neutral aligned towards Good. This means that you should find the gods of Good, and ally with them - they know to find the Dovahkiin.

Your enchanted weapons allow you to “Cycle X - Hack at USER” to do 5 damage to your target.

Your enchanted armor will reduce to five damage each cycle the first attack that would do more than five damage to you.

Once in the game, you may “Cycle X - use Battle Cry. You will be the only person to act that cycle, as everyone else will run away. Well, almost only. Some actions may be possible somehow.

Every other cycle, you may “Cycle X - Summon Atronachs near USER.” If USER is yourself, the first 10 damage you would take (before your armor) is negated. If USER is not yourself, then the first 5 damage your target would take will be negated (as the Atronach won’t act as a meatshield as well for another).

As shown in The Forsworn Conspiracy and Blood on the Ice, among others, you have a fair investigative talent. Every cycle, you may “Cycle X - Investigate USER.” You will find your target’s full role PM. Nothing will stop this from completing: not hooks, not martyrs, not redirects, not dickens or framers, and not safeguards.

Every cycle, you may choose two of the following Shouts to use, though you cannot use the same Shout twice in a two-cycle period.
Fire Breath - 5 damage attack
Unrelenting Force - Hook action
Whirlwind Sprint - Bypass bodyguards
Dragonrend - Remove bodyguards and safeguards from your target, except your own targets. If you use this, you will automatically target them with your enchanted weapons instead of anyone else you tried to target with them.

You win with ten victory points. You achieve them as follows:
One (1) for damaging member of Chaos or Law. [max 1 time]
Two (2) for damaging member of Evil. [max 3 times]
Two (2) for killing member of Evil. [max 2 times]
Two (2) for killing members of Chaos or Law. [max 2 times]
One (1) for outliving the Evil-oriented Neutral.
Negative One (-1) for being outlived by the Evil-oriented Neutral.
In addition, you can only win if you gain more Victory Points than the Evil-oriented Neutral.
imperfectluck has won:
DEAR IMPERFECTLUCK,
YOU ARE DEATH.

THERE IS NO JUSTICE. THERE IS JUST YOU. AND YOU ALWAYS SPEAK IN SMALLCAPS, FOR SOME REASON, THOUGH YOU DON’T HAVE TO IN THIS GAME.

BECAUSE TO YOU, THERE IS ONLY THE DUTY, YOU COMPLETELY NEUTRAL

AS AN UNDEAD GOD OF DEATH, YOU START THE GAME WITH 0 HP, BUT YOU CANNOT BE KILLED. ADDITIONALLY, YOU DO NOT USE THE VICTORY POINTS THAT EVERYONE ELSE DOES.

YOUR SCYTHE SUNDERS SOULS. YOU MAY “CYCLE X - SCYTHE USER.” THIS DOES 5 UNBLOCKABLE DAMAGE TO YOUR TARGET.

YOUR SWORD ALSO SUNDERS SOULS, BUT YOU ONLY USE IT FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS. EVERY OTHER CYCLE, YOU MAY “CYCLE X - SWORD USER” TO DO 10 UNBLOCKABLE DAMAGE.

YOU ALWAYS KNOW HOW TO FIND YOUR TARGET. YOU MAY “CYCLE X - FIND USER” TO WATCH YOUR TARGET AND LEARN WHO TARGETED THEM, AND “CYCLE X - FOLLOW USER” TO FIND WHO USER TARGETED. USING BOTH THESE ON THE SAME PERSON WILL REVEAL THEIR CHARACTER NAME AND FACTION AS WELL, BUT THEY WILL BE INFORMED “YOU HAD A NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE, AND DEATH HAD A NEAR-YOU EXPERIENCE.”

YOUR HORSE, BINKY, TRAVELS QUITE FAST. ATTACH “WITH BINKY” AT THE END OF EITHER YOUR “FIND USER” OR “FOLLOW USER” AND THAT ACTION WILL BE UNBLOCKABLE. YOU MAY ONLY CHOOSE ONE PER NIGHT, EVEN IF BOTH ACTIONS TARGET THE SAME PERSON.

YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF DEATH TELLS YOU HOW MUCH HP THERE IS IN THE GAME AT ALL TIMES. AT THE START, THERE WAS 970 HP.

YOU WIN IF YOU DAMAGE EACH OF THE OTHER FOUR NEUTRALS AT LEAST ONCE EACH, AND KILL TWO OF THEM. IF YOU SHOULD FAIL IN THIS, YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED NEW POWERS AND A NEW WIN CONDITION. BOTH WILL BE BASED ON HOW CLOSE YOU CAME TO COMPLETING YOUR WIN CONDITION BEFORE IT BECAME IMPOSSIBLE.
It is now cycle 12. You have until 8pm GMT-4 on Tuesday to get your orders in. Though if one side sends in orders the other cannot beat, that guarantee victory, then I'll update early.

Game over.

Hellfire, a swordsman, and a heart attack slay vonFiedler, leaving only Paperblade at 20 hp against all of evil, which means he dies cycle 13. By making the reasonable assumption that Evil sends everything against the one remaining player not them, nothing can prevent this outcome, which means no matter what, 3 of evil win... which means their fourth, Grima, wins as well.

THE_IRON_KENYAN, IMPERFECTLUCK, LAW, AND EVIL HAVE WON. TYRANNY REIGNS SUPREME.

Postgame:
This didn't go at all as I expected, and didn't really have much postgame-worthy, so I'll just summarize what it was meant to be.

So, I made this game way more complicated than I should have. HP and Multifaction alone would have been far better, I feel. So, yeah, probably never making a game with this many powers again. The interactions of various powers, some hidden, some not... really, that messed things up.

Neutrals were supposed to have a harder time finding their factions, but not have as much as the Ruin fiasco. They were also meant to be sort of wild cards.

So, we saw that this was mostly a really complicated chess game, but that's not how I intended it. I didn't intend for there to be so much free sharing of info so early, and intended it to be a game of selling attacks for info, or info for info. Or other powers. Yeah, well, that didn't really happen. I set it up poorly for that outcome to work... well, maybe next time. Thank you for this learning experience, everyone.

The market for subs was astonishingly small. Like, one person who could only send in action, which ... would have been severely crippled by the game style. By the time that offer happened, the teams that needed a sub to get actions in at all were crippled enough that it wouldn't have been fair to the sub.

So, there were no subs, sadly.

yeah i'm pretty sure that by the time people started winning there were like 5 of us still playing :/ that combined with complexity (jalmont had something like 7 actions..) were really what hurt this game. normally i have a pretty good spreadsheet in games like this but in this one i didn't even bother until i actually needed to share info with vonfiedler just because it was a lot of work to maintain

early game i'm pretty sure both me and ln thought that we were super weak compared to the other factions but i'm not so sure now, there were no chaos or good to stop us lategame really but i feel like our kill potential wasn't really matchable by any other faction (we could add 10 damage to every attack so even when ditto, celever and tik didn't get involved)

one thing i found kind of disappointing was that it seemed like all the corner roles were inactive, which meant that it was basically chaos vs law and good vs evil which kind of sucked. had ditto or celever not been busy, i would've maybe had more qualms with working with the good and then switching over to work with evil when good went inactive

haunted.shadow: were you allowed to send pms for team chaos? it seemed like lategame all that was happening to us was you were hitting celever with shadow force but i think we took pokeguynxb's results and he had acted? i might have imagined that but idk

i'm not even really better about getting teamkilled (although as a side note i thought everyone had already agreed that ununited in multifaction blows dick and serves no purpose??? which is still true btw there was no point for the neutrals to just not flat out know their faction considering that they weren't very neutral...at all and it just made finding your team to be very not fun)

what i am "bitter" about, or at least was, annoyed at was the fact that i legitimately could not plan things with my faction whatsoever. it's not agape's fault that his and timezone and mine don't match up, but other than him no one else on my team cared enough to ever be on irc or respond to me when i tried to talk about the game. what's the point of playing if you literally refuse to talk to your teammates or care at all

\mad

Glorious victory, it was because of our excellent teamwork that we can stand victorious together today. I would like to thank my arms, for always being by side. My legs, for always supporting me & my fingers because I can always count on them. Oh and thank my team too i guess.

Yeah, I just want to say sorry to Slim Guldo for being totally inactive this game. A lot of stuff came up at the start of it and I didn't have time to squeeze this in, and once I was ready to start "contributing" (only needs to be in marks for me lol) to the game it was just way too complex and I had no idea about what was going on since I hadn't had a steady stream of info from the start.

Beginning of the game was more fun, middle and lategame was as interesting as normal mafia.

Symmetrical win conditions were interesting. Infosharing was huge work but then again the point of this game. Roles were balanced I think, and not very hard to use but really hard to optimize.

shade expressed a willingness for his actions to be sent by Good. Also, it was a minutia of the game that made it better for a faction to send for a neutral than a neutral for a faction. I'd redo that and would have permitted haunted to do so if I could do it over again, but, well, here we are. (Idea was that neutral winning helped the faction no matter what, but faction winning wasn't worth points for the neutral.) Yeah, shoulda just not done the neutrals as neutrals, but it was something of a holdover from a previous incarnation of this game (which would have been at least 10x as complicated, and didn't make it very far in planning).

Oh right, I have to say that the Ruin fail by me would have lost us the game without the endgame idling. We got a strong start, utterly ruined by me giving LN access to our spreadsheet. :(

it's fine, i understand that people get busy and we still won anyway :) it was enough of a mindfuck discovering all the crazy roles as we went through the game (walrein having 4 lives and jalmont 7 roles were highlights). i can't even imagine what it would've been like to come back from being busy and look over my crazy, not totally updated spreadsheet!

Agape what impact did the ruin thing actually have on you guys? i figured you knew everything apart from that anyway (or at least everything we knew) because i had to eventually give up and tell you we had celever

I made the only actual mafia-esque play this game saw, so I take full credit for our team winning. On the whole though this game was less mafia and more like chess.
