Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fansFairy-type Pokemon, the ASBFairy-type Gym Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about fifteen feet wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is eighty feet wide, one hundred feet long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than sixty feet). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are ALMOST no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle. However, the Fairy spectators are impatient and want to see a match. If a trainer hesitates excessively during the battle (read: goes over DQ), they will swarm and attack.

From the Leader's team pay special attention to Mariruri the Azumarill. Being at least neutral to all STABs from the challenger is a lovely asset, hitting one of those SE is wonderful too. Add those and with good stats and a marvelou movepool and you get a winner!

From the challenger's side pay special attention to Masuku the Kitsunoh. It is also a tricky mon and being able to shut down Mime (somewhat) is a lovely quality to have.

Round 1!

Hello people and welcome to the Fairy Gym. The scariest cutest of all gyms!

(seriously though, it is a very daunting experience).

Cuting to the chase, the challenger begins with Steelix with Life Orb to start this up on a good pace.

The leader counters this with Mr. Mime using a strange Rocky Helmet. Unusual, to say the least, but I guess it does make sense. Also...Mr. Mime surely wasn't who I was expecting? Oh well, he probably has a plan.

But the challenger begins with the upper hand...somewhat. After taking a Focus Blast to the (massive) head, Steelix creates a Substitute with some voodoo and manages to absorb Mime's attacks nicely while countering with the unexpected Flash Cannon. But even with Sheer Force, STAB and Life Orb, Mr. Mime's massive SpD coupled with Filter made said attack not deal as much damage as one would expect.

In the end, the field is pretty much even. Steelix has more hp, but it started with more hp, so Mime won the damage race somewhat. Now the challenger has to order last vs Mime and, lemme tell you, its not a pleasant experience...​

Not super relevant but Rocky Helmet recoil from Heavy Slam should only be 6 HP. And Infestation should be boosted by Technician, but also is resisted by Steelix (ends up doing 3.333). So I think end result Steelix should have 1 more HP and Mr. Mime 1 less energy.

I'll switch to Togekiss @ Scope Lens.
