Overview
########

Accelgor's high Speed make it a perfect Spikes lead, as this guarantees that Accelgor will be able to set up one or two layers of Spikes and prevent enemies from setting up by using Encore. Accelgor has access to Final Gambit, allowing it to make sure entry hazards stay around against spinners and Defoggers. It is also a surprisingly strong special attacker with Life Orb. Accelgor's main weakness is its frailness, as it will go down to any competent attacker. It also faces competition as an entry hazard setter from Crustle and Qwilfish, and the offensive set faces a lot of competition from popular special attackers such as Mesprit and Mismagius. Accelgor also requires offensive support to prevent enemy entry hazard removal after using Final Gambit.

Suicide Lead
########
name: Suicide Lead
move 1: Spikes
move 2: Encore
move 3: Bug Buzz / Energy Ball
move 4: Final Gambit
ability: Unburden
item: Focus Sash
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

Spikes is the reason to use Accelgor, as Accelgor is almost always capable of setting up at least one layer, which helps break down opposing Pokemon and discourage constant switching. Encore discourages opposing setup sweepers and entry hazard setters from setting up on Accelgor. Bug Buzz 2HKOes Xatu and is a powerful all-purpose STAB move that keeps Accelgor from being completely shut down by Taunt. Alternatively, Energy Ball hits several prominent entry hazard setters, such as Seismitoad and Rhydon. Final Gambit faints Accelgor, keeping the team's momentum and preventing Defog and Rapid Spin from being used; it can also deal a lot of damage if used while Accelgor is at full health, OHKOing common spinners such as offensive Cryogonal and Kabutops.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed investment boosts Accelgor's already good Speed and can allow it to set up more layers of Spikes. Max Special Attack investment makes Accelgor deal more damage, and minimal bulk allows Accelgor to use Unburden more reliably. Unburden and Focus Sash work together to allow Accelgor to move really quickly if its Focus Sash is broken. Even without HP investment, Final Gambit will do plenty of damage if Accelgor is at full health. Alternatively, Max HP and Speed investment can be used to increase Accelgor's Final Gambit damage and allow it to take stray attacks and set up against defensive Pokemon easier.

Usage Tips
========

Spikes Accelgor is very straightforward. Lead with it, and use Spikes to wear down the enemy team. Using Final Gambit to suicide when it appears the enemy is preparing to use Defog or Rapid Spin can help keep entry hazards up for a couple more turns or the whole battle. Using Encore against enemy Stealth Rock users forces them to switch out and gives Accelgor more time to act; it also prevents setup moves, but remember Klinklang outspeed Accelgor after setting up and will not be hit by Encore. The attacking move will rarely be used, as an additional layer of Spikes will often be the better option, but Bug Buzz is useful for hitting Xatu as it switches in and preventing it from bouncing back Spikes. If Accelgor carries Energy Ball, it can surprise Seismitoad and Rhydon, allowing teammates to bypass their checks.

Team Options
========

Ghost-types block Rapid Spin, so Accelgor appreciates offensive Ghost-types such as Mismagius and Rotom as teammates. Stealth Rock support is mandatory to wear down threats immune to Spikes; Rhydon and Mesprit do this while hitting hard. Golurk can also use Stealth Rock and block Rapid Spin, but loses to all common Rapid Spin users. Some common leads such as Crustle match up very well against Accelgor, and having a teammate such as Rampardos to limit these leads' entry hazards is crucial. Defiant Pokemon, most notably Pawniard and Primeape, gain +2 Attack from Defog, punishing those that use it without regard. In general, wallbreakers and teammates that can keep up offensive pressure such as Kangaskhan, Zangoose, and Feraligatr all make for great teammates. These Pokemon also tend to force an immediate reaction, further applying Spikes damage on the opposing Pokemon. In addition, U-turn and Volt Switch users such as Swellow and Rotom become even better choices with Spikes on the field.

Offensive
########
name: Offensive
move 1: Bug Buzz
move 2: Focus Blast
move 3: Energy Ball / Giga Drain
move 4: Spikes / Encore
ability: Sticky Hold
item: Life Orb
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Modest / Timid

Moves
========

Bug Buzz is Accelgor's strongest STAB move that hits a lot of Pokemon hard. Focus Blast helps Accelgor break through some Steel- and Rock-types, such as Probopass, and is its strongest move against enemy Fighting-types. Energy Ball can be used to deal with several bulky Ground-types, specifically Seismitoad and Rhydon, and is its best move against Ghost-types. Giga Drain is an alternative to Energy Ball that allows Accelgor to recover some HP and mitigate some of the recoil of Life Orb. Spikes allows Accelgor to wear down the walls that it has problems getting through and helps it deal damage with the switches that it forces. However, it is often difficult to find time for offensive Accelgor to use Spikes, and alternatively, Encore allows Accelgor to buy free turns against non-attacking moves.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment allows Accelgor to break through a lot of Pokemon and hit harder and faster. Life Orb further boosts all of Accelgor's attacks, and can't be removed with Knock Off, Trick, or Switcheroo due to Sticky Hold. Modest is the preferred nature, as it ensures an OHKO on Swellow and the 2HKO on Gurdurr with Focus Blast while giving Accelgor a much better chance to OHKO Samurott and Rhydon and 2HKO offensive Mismagius with Energy Ball. However, a Timid nature allows Accelgor to outspeed certain threats, such as maximum Speed Choice Scarf Mesprit and +1 Jolly Dragon Dance Feraligatr.

Usage Tips
========

Bug Buzz is Accelgor's best attack and should be used liberally. Focus Blast, on the other hand, should be used sparingly, as the poor accuracy can be a problem. Accelgor is strong enough to 2HKO a lot of defensive Pokemon such as Vileplume and Gurdurr, but it is often not strong enough to OHKO Pokemon with neutral Bug Buzz. It is also frail and easily revenge killed by priority; this causes offensive Accelgor to have a hard time cleaning up, especially against common bulky offense teams. Instead of trying too hard to preserve Accelgor, use it to blast holes in the enemy team. Accelgor does very well against common Stealth Rock users, such as Seismitoad, Rhydon, and Mesprit, so if it can't really do much against the opponent's team, your best bet is to lead with it and set up as many Spikes as you can while beating most entry hazard setters with its offensive pressure. Having Accelgor on your team restricts enemy options for leads, especially if they cannot handle Spikes; use this to your advantage even if your Accelgor is not a suicide lead variant. If Accelgor carries Encore instead of Spikes, use it to discourage enemy setup moves. Switching into a strong sweeper is a dangerous proposition, but with correct prediction, Accelgor will outspeed majority of Pokemon and lock them into a non-attacking move with Encore. However, be careful of setup sweepers such as Shift Gear Klinklang and Swords Dance Feraligatr that can move before the Encore and OHKO Accelgor.

Team Options
========

Although Accelgor can set Spikes to help it wear down walls, it doesn't help it take out Flying-types, which can be a dangerous problem. For instance, Rotom-S resists all of Accelgor's moves and is immune to Spikes. Stealth Rock support from the likes of Rhydon, Seismitoad, or Ferroseed is a must. Rapid Spin support from Kabutops is appreciated to let Accelgor switch more liberally, but is not required as Accelgor already does a good job at applying offensive pressure to common Stealth Rock users. Bulky Rotom is a good pivot and excels at keeping entry hazards in play. Hariyama completely nullifies offensive Accelgor, so Weezing and Vileplume are great options to keep it in check. Offensive teammates such as Kangaskhan and Feraligatr appreciate Accelgor's potential to blow holes in the opposing team and can provide Spikes support.

Other Options
########

Accelgor's coverage options are rather barren. Knock Off is a good utility move that annoys all switch-ins, but it does minimal damage. U-turn is generally a good move, but Accelgor is weak to Stealth Rock and rarely forces switches. Sludge Bomb is its best move against Fairy-types, but is useless otherwise. Hidden Power Rock hits both Fire- and Flying-types, hitting the likes of Scyther especially hard. Finally, Yawn forces switches and puts counters to sleep, but Accelgor is too frail to use it effectively.

Checks & Counters
########

**Utility**: Defog, Rapid Spin, and Taunt prevent Accelgor's primary job of using Spikes.

**Strong Priority Attacks**: Feraligatr, Kangaskhan, and Kecleon can limit Accelgor to one layer of Spikes with a strong STAB attack and a priority move.

**Rock Blast**: Multi-hit moves, especially Rock Blast, from Pokemon such as Crustle and Rhydon OHKO the lead variant even with Focus Sash, limiting Accelgor to one layer of Spikes.

**Special Walls**: Draglage, Hariyama, Togetic, and Mantine shut down offensive Accelgor; Mantine and Togetic even have Defog to remove Spikes.

**Pokemon That Resist Bug-type**: Flying-, Poison-, and Fairy-type Pokemon such as Rotom-S, Drifblim, and Garbodor resist every move on the offensive set.

**Choice Scarf Users**: As long as they're faster, Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Rotom-S and Pyroar are a problem for the offensive set. Choice Scarf Pokemon can also use neutral moves to bypass Focus Sash and prevent Accelgor from laying down a second layer of Spikes.

Overview
########

+Fast and powerful

+Reliably gets 1-2 layers of Spikes, and Final Gambit prevents immediate hazard removal
-Mediocre bulk
-Faces competition as an entry hazard setters from Pokemon such as Crustle and Qwilfish.
-Faces competition as a special sweeper from Pokemon such as Mesprit and Slurpuff.
-Requires constant offensive pressure from team to prevent spinning. If you fail to give Accelgor the offensive support, and the hazards do get removed, you will often not get a second chance to Spike up.

move 3: Bug Buzz / Energy Ball
move 4: Final Gambit

Moves
========

- Spikes are the main reason to use Accelgor. It is almost always capable of getting up at least one layer of Spikes, which helps break down opposing Pokemon and discourage constant switching.
- Encore keeps opposing setup sweepers and entry hazard setters from setting up on Accelgor.
- Bug Buzz is a powerful stab move that keeps Accelgor from being completely shut down with Taunt. It also 2HKOs Xatu.
- Energy Ball hits several prominent entry hazard setters, such as Seismitoad and Rhydon.
- Final Gambit is used so that Accelgor faints. This makes it so that opposing Pokemon can't Defog or Rapid Spin away hazards while Accelgor is there. It can also deal a lot of damage if used while Accelgor is at full health, and a full HP Final Gambit OHKOs common Rapid Spinners such as offensive Cryogonal and Kabutops.

Set Details
========

- Max Speed plays off of Accelgor's already good Speed so that Accelgor can get more Spikes off. Max Special Attack makes Accelgor do more damage, and minimal bulk allows Accelgor to use Unburden more reliably. Even without HP investment, full health Final Gambit will OHKO Ferroseed.
- Unburden and Focus Sash work together to allow Accelgor to move really quickly if it's Focus Sash is broken.
- Max HP is an alternative spread, and it increases Accelgor's Final Gambit damage. It also makes makes Accelgor have easier time taking stray attacks and setting up against defensive Pokemon.

Usage Tips
========

- Lead with it and use Spikes to wear down the enemy team.
- Using Final Gambit to suicide when it appears the enemy is preparing to use Defog or Rapid Spin can help keep entry hazards up for a couple more turns or the whole battle.
- If opposing leads try to set up entry hazards at the same time as you, simply use Encore. It forces Stealth Rock users to switch out and gives Accelgor more time to act.
- Use Encore to prevent setup moves.

Team Options
========

- Ghost-types prevent Rapid Spin from working, so Accelgor appreciates Pokemon like Rotom and Mismagius.
- Stealth Rock support is mandatory to wear down threats immune to Spikes. Rhydon and Mesprit does this while hitting very hard. Golurk can also use Stealth Rock and block Rapid Spin.
- Some common leads such as Crustle match up very well against Accelgor, and having a teammate to limit its hazards is crucial.
- Defiant Pokemon, most notably Pawniard and Primeape, discourage the use of Defog and punish those that use it without regard.
- Wallbreakers and teammates that can keep up offensive pressure both appreciate the Spikes damage and keep the opponent from removing them. Kangaskhan, Zangoose, Feraligatr, etc.

- However, Timid allows Accelgor to outspeed certain threats, such as Choice Scarf Timid Mesprit and +1 Jolly Dragon Dance Feraligatr

========

- Bug Buzz is Accelgor's best attack and should be used liberally. Focus Blast, on the other hand, should be used sparingly, as the poor accuracy can be a problem.
- Accelgor is strong enough to 2HKO a lot of defensive Pokemon such as Vileplume, but it is often not strong enough to OHKO things with neutral Bug Buzz. He is also frail and easily revenged by priority.
- This makes Offensive Accelgor have a hard time cleaning up, especially against the common Bulky Offense teams. Instead of trying too hard to preserve it, use it to blast holes in the enemy team.

- Remember having Accelgor in your team restricts enemy options for leads, especially if they cannot handle Spikes particularly well. Use this to your advantage even if your Accelgor is not a suicide lead variant.

Team Options
========

- Although Accelgor can set Spikes to help it wear down walls, it doesn't help it take out Flying-types, which can be a dangerous problem. - Ghost-types prevent Rapid Spin from working, so Accelgor appreciates Pokemon like Rotom and Mismagius. Bulky Rotom excels at keeping hazards in play, and is a good pivot.
- Hariyama completely nullifies Offensive Accelgor. Slurpuff and Vileplume are great options to keep it in check.
- Accelgor struggles to break special soaks such as Audino, but such predictable switch-ins give Accelgor a chance to use Spikes with little risk. Physical attackers such as Gurdurr or Hariyama are threatening enough to force most of them out immediately and force hazard damage on the opponent.
- Rapid Spin support from Kabutops is appreciated to let Accelgor switch more liberally, but is not required. Accelgor already does a good job at applying offensive pressure to common Stealth Rock users.
- Offensive teammates such as Kangaskhan and Feraligatr appreciate Accelgor's potential to blow holes. If Accelgor is unable to do much damage, they are still amazing with Spikes support.

Other Options
########

- Knock Off

- Hidden Power Ice
- Yawn

Checks & Counters
########

**Utility**: Defog, Rapid Spin, Taunt.

**Strong Priority Attacks**: Feraligatr, Kangaskhan, and Kecleon can limit Accelgor to one layer of Spikes with a strong STAB attack and a priority move.

**Rock Blast**: KO's the lead variants through Sash, limiting it to one layer as well.

**Special Walls**: Draglage, Hariyama, Mantine, Flareon.

**Bug-type resists**: Altaria, Rotom-S, Garbodor, Drifblim, etc. resist every move on the Offensive set.

**Choice Scarf Users**: As long as they're faster, Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Rotom-S and Pyroar are a problem for the special attacker set. Weaker Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Rotom also prevent Accelgor from laying down the second layer of Spikes by bypassing the Focus Sash.

I agree about giving it a little bit allowing you to test (and the QC team). Also since you copy and pasted from the other thread make sure you give credit. Up at the top.

I spammed this fair bit on the ladder after Kabutops and I think I'm ready for QC. I'm willing to wait for QC test up and reply. School year's starting and people have other stuff, isn't unreasonable for people to not have that many games down in a very fresh meta.

Only part that really bugged me was how the 252 HP investment actually allowed me to live those weak scarfed attacks without using up my Sash. Then I only got 1 Spikes up when I should have gotten 2 if I were frailer. Final Gambit is mostly for the utility of killing yourself and stuff, so I think a frailer build is definitely worth a mention. One of the biggest uses of Final Gambit were killing evioliters like Ferroseed, and Ferro has lower HP even if you don't invest in it at all. Not too familiar with the Gen 6 formating even tho I read it, would this mention go into Set Details?

tbh I never liked max hp on the sash set, you usually want to use Final Gambit to die and prevent a Rapid Spin / Defog, and even without max HP you will be able to cripple stuff if you really need to Final Gambit them anyway. As you said, with max HP accelgor can take some hits without the sash and make you set up less Spikes.. just go with Max SpA and Max Spe imo

yeah thats a change i can get behind

Did some calcs, Accelgor gets 2HKOed by Audio Double-Edge whether you're 252 HP or 252 SpA, so taking that 252 HP away has no bearing on setting up on defensive stuff.

Also, the situation I faced was Scarf Rotom vs Accelgor, which never OHKOs with TB even if I go 0 IV on HP / SpD with negative nature. Should probably note that in the checks / counters list about weak scarfers that don't quite OHKO you.

However,
252 SpA Jynx Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Accelgor: 285-336 (94.6 - 111.6%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

which is promising unless she goes for LK. Even then she needs to switch out and have wasted 2 turns of Sleep so you'll still get layers up.

The most aggrevating matchup with Accelgor was BD Slurpuff. She got to use 1 Play Rough while underspeeding me, doesn't use up my Sash. Now I'm forced to Encore and only get 1 Spike layer up, and if I don't do that, I'll let her set up. Accelgor needs a HO team behind him so we can keep the pressure, and for such a team revenging a 75% +6 Slurpuff is really hard.

252+ Atk Silk Scarf Kangaskhan Fake Out vs. 52 HP / 0 Def Slurpuff: 79-94 (24.8 - 29.5%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO =(

With 0 Def IVs, this changes: 252+ Atk Slurpuff Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Accelgor: 322-381 (106.9 - 126.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Now When she first Play Roughs me, I get my Unburden boost. I can use second layer of Spikes. If she Belly Drums, I get to outspeed and Encore, preventing the disaster.

If you think the additional bulk helps, I'm open to discussion, but this sounds like a pretty good idea for me.

It's now been about a month into tier changes. I think it's ready for QC.

Crustle is as dominant as ever, so Accelgor is somewhat overshadowed but Spikestack offense itself should still be viable.

The thing about crustle is that it usually only gets up rocks and one layer of spikes if lucky. Accelgor pretty much is a guarenteed two layers of spikes with Encore and what not, not to mention it can final gambit on defoggers to prevent the removal of spikes. Only problem is you then have to run another mon with rocks.

I think you should move the mention of bulky Rotom from the Lead's team option to the LO set's team option; Lead Accelgor should only really be used on fast offensive teams which bulky Rotom doesn't rely fit on. Now don't get me wrong it's not a sitting duck and won't make you lose momentum, but bulky Rotom isn't That strong and Scarf/Specs will usually be used on such teams.

I would mention more wallbreakers alongside Swellow tbh in the lead's team options. Zangoose, Kangaskhan, Feraligatr, etc.

For the LO set's Set Details, add that Modest LO Focus Blast can 2HKO Gurdurr:
252+ SpA Life Orb Accelgor Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Eviolite Gurdurr: 179-212 (47.8 - 56.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

LO set's Team Options: add more things imo.

As for the Usage Tips of the LO set; The way I used LO Accelgor was as a 'wallbreaker' as it will rarely get to clean teams. It has decent matchup against most Stealth Rock setter and slow tanks (2HKO Vileplume with Bug Buzz iirc, OHKO Seismitoad and Rhydon with Energy Ball (with Modest), and Focus Blast does a ton to stuff that resists the last two). TLDR when using this set, the goal is to weaken everything it can to open a way for its teammates. That's also why Spikes is on the set: when Accelgor can't really do much against the opponent's team, your best bet is to lead with it and set up as many Spikes as you can while preventing most entry hazard setters from setting up their own with its offensive pressure.

In Overview
-Faces competition as an entry hazard setters from Pokemon such as Crustle.
Add Qwilfish

Amarillo do this and i will check later :)

ok added

Should Modest get the first slash over Timid only thing it seems to outspeed are stuff you never see like modest +1 lilligant, modest +2 gorebyss. Boosting nature Scarf Mesprit is possible but every Scarf Mesprit I've seen are Adamant anyways. Double dance Rhydon are usually Adamant. So I think the only relevant threat that Timid gets over Modest is +1 Jolly DD Gatr? And Modest seems to solve a lot of the damage issues I've been having with Timid.

[Overview]
Mention it reliably can get up 1-2 layers of spikes, also that it can stop defog / spin with final gambit
Not sure what your last line is getting at, "Spinning is difficult to block reactively. Sandslash Knock Off hurts, and Kabutops is an ass. Must apply constant aggression to prevent spinners from undoing your hard work. (Well its not really hard to get them up but you know what I mean.)" Elaborate and say that its hard to reset spikes late game if they are removed.

[Spikes Lead]
In the Spike Lead, the Max HP Max Speed set should be mentioned in set details as it powers up Final Gambit.
Remove the ivs, pretty sure you dont need them

[Usage Tips]
Also mention that Encore can prevent people from setting up

QC 2/3

Whenever I use LO Accelgor, I never really find myself getting too many free turns to set up Spikes, so I usually just run Encore instead because free turns on offense are great. I'd slash Encore with it.

When you talk about hazard removal being such an issue in the Overview, I think you should mention that Final Gambit helps makes this less of an issue. Coolest part about this is that full HP Final Gambit OHKOs offensive Cryo and Kabutops, and Defog users are honestly pretty rare. It's really easy for offensive teams to prevent the removal of their hazards just by keeping up offensive pressure post-Final Gambit, with Rotom as a common fail-safe.

On the Spikes set, mention that Bug Buzz 2HKO's Xatu.

Overview
########

Accelgor is one of the premier Spikers users in NU. Its high sSpeed makes for a perfect Spikes lead, as it all but guarantees one or two layers of Spikes on the enemy playing field, and denies enemy setup with Encore. Access to Final Gambit makes sure entry hazards stay around against Rapid Spin and Defog. It is also a surprisingly strong special attacker with Life Orb. Accelgor's main weakness is its frailty, as it will go down to any competent attacker. The Spikes lead faces competition as an entry hazard setter from Crustle and Qwilfish, and the offensive set faces heavy competition from popular special attackers such as Mesprit and Mismagius. Accelgor also requires an offensive squad team (lol the use of 'squad' :])to prevent enemy hazard removal after the using Final Gambit.

Suicide Lead
########
name: Suicide Lead
move 1: Spikes
move 2: Encore
move 3: Bug Buzz / Energy Ball
move 4: Final Gambit
ability: Unburden
item: Focus Sash
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

Spikes is the reason to use Accelgor. It is almost always capable of getting up at least one layer of Spikes, which helps break down opposing Pokemon and discourage constant switching. Encore discourages opposing setup sweepers and entry hazard setters from setting up on Accelgor. Bug Buzz 2HKOes Xatu, and is a powerful all-purpose STAB move that keeps Accelgor from being completely shut down by Taunt. Alternatively, Energy Ball hits several prominent entry hazard setters, such as Seismitoad and Rhydon. Final Gambit faints Accelgor: this keeps the momentum and prevents Defog and Rapid Spin while Accelgor is in play. It can also deal a lot of damage if used while Accelgor is at full health, OHKOing common Rapid Spinners such as offensive Cryogonal and Kabutops.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed plays off of Accelgor's already good Speed so that Accelgor it can get more layer of Spikes off up. Maximum Special Attack makes allows Accelgor to do more damage, and minimal bulk allows Accelgor it to ustilize Unburden more reliably. Even without HP investment, Final Gambit will do plenty of damage if Accelgor is at full health. Unburden and Focus Sash work together to allow Accelgor to move really quickly if it's Focus Sash is broken. Maximum HP and Speed is an alternative spread, increasing Accelgor's Final Gambit damage and allowing Accelgor it to have an easier time taking stray attacks and setting up against defensive Pokemon.

Usage Tips
========

Spikes Accelgor is very straightforward. Lead with it, and use Spikes to wear down the enemy team. Using Final Gambit to suicide when it appears that the enemy is preparing to use Defog or Rapid Spin can help keep entry hazards up for a couple more turns or the whole battle. Using Encore against enemy Stealth Rock users forces them to switch out and gives Accelgor more time to act. Encore also prevents setup moves, but remember Klinklang and Slurpuff outspeeds Accelgor after theyir setup have set up, and cannot be Encored. The attacking move will rarely be used, as an additional layer of Spikes will often be the better option, but common Xatu switch-ins attempting to prevent Spikes can be foiled by a Bug Buzz on the switch. In case Accelgor carries Energy Ball, it can surprise Seismitoad and Rhydon, allowing teammates to bypass their checks.

Team Options
========

Ghost-types prevent block (concision) Rapid Spin from working, so Accelgor appreciates offensive Ghost-types such as Mismagius and Rotom. Stealth Rock support is mandatory to wear down threats immune to Spikes. Rhydon and Mesprit does this while hitting hard. Golurk can also use Stealth Rock and block Rapid Spin, but loses 1v1 to all common Rapid Spin users and is not a particularly good Sspinblocker. Some common leads such as Crustle match up very well against Accelgor, and having a teammate such as Rampardos to limit its hazards is crucial. Defiant Pokemon users, most notably Pawniard and Primeape, gain +2 Attack from an opponent's Defog, punishing those that use it without regard. In general, wallbreakers and teammates that can keep up offensive pressure, such as Kangaskhan, Zangoose, and/or Feraligatr, both appreciate the Spikes damage and keep the opponent from removing them. For this reason, wallbreakers such as Kangaskhan, Zangoose, and Feraligatr all make great teammates for Accelgor. These Pokemon also tend to force an immediate reaction switch, further applying further Spikes damage on the opponent. In addition, U-turn and Volt Switch users such as Swellow and Rotom become even better choices with Spikes on the field.

Moves
========

Bug Buzz is Accelgor's strongest STAB move and hits a lot of Pokemon hard. Focus Blast helps Accelgor break through some of the Steel- and Rock-types, such as Probopass, and is its strongest move against enemy Fighting-types. Energy Ball can be used to deal with several bulky Ground-types, specifically Seismitoad and Rhydon, and is its best move against Ghost-types. Giga Drain is an alternative to Energy Ball that allows it to recover some HP and mitigate some of the recoil damage of Life Orb. Spikes allows Accelgor to wear down walls that it has problems getting through and helps it deal damage with the switches that it forces. However, it is often difficult to find time for offensive Accelgor to use Spikes, and alternatively, Encore allows Accelgor to buy free turns against non-attacking moves.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack and Speed allows Accelgor to break through a lot of Pokemon and hit harder and faster., and Life Orb further boosts all of Accelgor's attacks. With Sticky Hold, Life Orb can't be removed with by Knock Off, Trick, or Switcheroo. Modest is the preferred nature, as Accelgor ensures the OHKO on Swellow and the 2HKO on Gurdurr with Focus Blast. It also gives a much better chance of scoring the OHKOs on Samurott and Rhydon, and the 2HKOs on offensive Mismagius with Energy Ball. However, a Timid nature allows Accelgor to outspeed certain threats, such as Choice Scarf Timid Mesprit and +1 Jolly Dragon Dance Feraligatr.

Usage Tips
========

Bug Buzz is Accelgor's best attack and should be used liberally. Focus Blast, on the other hand, should be used sparingly, as the its poor accuracy can be a problem. Accelgor is strong enough to 2HKO a lot of defensive Pokemon such as Vileplume and Gurdurr, but it is often not strong enough to OHKO things with neutral Bug Buzz. It is also frail and easily revenge killed by priority. This makes offensive Accelgor have a hard time cleaning up, especially against the common Bulky Offense teams. Instead of trying too hard to preserve it, use it to blast holes in the enemy team. Accelgor does very well against common SR users, such as Seismitoad, Rhydon, and Mesprit, so if it can't really do much against the opponent's team, your best bet is to lead with it and set up as many layers of Spikes as you can while beating most entry hazard setters with its offensive pressure. Remember hHaving Accelgor in your team restricts enemy options for leads, especially if they cannot handle Spikes particularly well. Use this to your advantage even if your Accelgor is not a sSuicide lLead variant. If Accelgor carries Encore instead of Spikes, use Accelgor to discourage enemy setup moves. Switching into a strong sweeper is a dangerous proposition, but with correct prediction, Accelgor will outspeed the majority of Pokemon and lock them into a non-attacking move with Encore. However, be careful of setup sweepers such as Belly Drum Slurpuff, Shift Gear Klinklang, and Swords Dance Feraligatr that can move before the Encore and OHKO Accelgor.

Team Options
========

Accelgor can set Spikes to help it wear down walls, it doesn't help it take out Flying-types, which can be a dangerous problem. For instance, Rotom-S takes resists all of its moves and is immune to Spikes to boot. Stealth Rock support from the likes of Rhydon, Seismitoad, or Ferroseed is a must. Ghost-types prevent block Rapid Spin from working, so Accelgor appreciates Ghost- type Pokemon like such as Rotom and Mismagius. Bulky Rotom excels at keeping hazards in play on the opponent's playing field, and is a good pivot. Hariyama completely nullifies offensive Accelgor, so Slurpuff and Vileplume are great options to keep it in check. Rapid Spin support from Kabutops is appreciated to let Accelgor switch more liberally, but is not required as Accelgor already does a good job at applying offensive pressure to common Stealth Rock users. Offensive teammates such as Kangaskhan and Feraligatr appreciate Accelgor's potential to blow holes in the opponent's team. If Accelgor is unable to do much damage, they are still amazing with Spikes support.

Other Options
########

Knock Off is a good utility move and annoys all switch-ins, but it does minimal damage. U-turn is generally a good move, but Accelgor is weak to Stealth Rock and rarely forces switches. Accelgor's coverage options are rather barren. Sludge Bomb is its best move against Fairy-types, but is useless otherwise. Hidden Power Rock hits both Fire-types and Flying-types, while Hidden Power Ice hits the Flying-types, and is its best option against Altaria and Dragalge. Finally, Yawn forces switches and puts counters to sleep, but Accelgor is too frail to use it effectively.

Checks & Counters
########

**Utility**: Defog, Rapid Spin, and Taunt prevents Accelgor's primary job of using Spikes.

**Strong Priority Attacks**: Feraligatr, Kangaskhan, and Kecleon can limit Accelgor to setting only one layer of Spikes with a strong STAB attack and a priority move.

**Rock Blast**: Multi-hit moves, especially Rock Blast, OHKOs the lead variants through Sash, limiting it to setting one layer as well. Crustle and Rhydon are common users of Rock Blast.

**Special Soaks**: Draglage, Hariyama, Togetic, and Mantine shuts down the offensive Accelgor. Mantine and Togetic even have Defog to remove Spikes.

**Bug-type resists**: Altaria, Rotom-S, Drifblim, Garbodor, etc. resist every move on the Offensive set. Its poor coverage allows Flying-, Poison-, and Fairy-types to resist Accelgor's main offensive moves.

**Choice Scarf Users**: As long as they're faster, Choice Scarf Pokemon users such as Rotom-S and Pyroar are a problem for the special attacker Offensive (there is no set called "Special Attacker" in this analysis.) set. Weaker Choice Scarf Pokemon users such as Rotom also prevent Accelgor from laying down the a second layer of Spikes by bypassing the Focus Sash.

Accelgor's is one of the premier Spikers in NU. Its high Speed makes for a perfect Spikes lead, as it all but guarantees that Accelgor will be able to set up one or two layers of Spikes on the enemy playing field, and denies and prevent enemies enemyfrom setting up withby using Encore. Accelgor has access to Final Gambit, (AC) allowing it to makes sure entry hazards stay around against Rapid Spinners and Defoggers. It is also a surprisingly strong special attacker with Life Orb. Accelgor's main weakness is its frailtyness, as it will go down to any competent attacker. The Spikes leadIt also faces competition as an entry hazard setter from Crustle and Qwilfish, and the offensive set faces heavya lot of competition from popular special attackers such as Mesprit and Mismagius. Accelgor also requires an offensive squad support to prevent enemy entry hazard removal after using Final Gambit.

Spikes is the reason to use Accelgor., (period to comma) as it is almost always capable of gsetting up at least one layer of Spikes, which helps break down opposing Pokemon and discourage constant switching. Encore discourages opposing setup sweepers and entry hazard setters from setting up on Accelgor. Bug Buzz 2HKOes Xatu, (RC) and is a powerful all-purpose STAB move that keeps Accelgor from being completely shut down by Taunt. Alternatively, Energy Ball hits several prominent entry hazard setters, such as Seismitoad and Rhydon. Final Gambit faints Accelgor: (remove colon) this keepsing the momentum and preventsing Defog and Rapid Spin from being used; (semicolon) while Accelgor is in play. it can also deal a lot of damage if used while Accelgor is at full health, OHKOing common Rapid Spinners such as offensive Cryogonal and Kabutops.

Set Details

Maximum Speed investment boosts plays off of Accelgor's already good Speed so that Accelgor can get and can allow it to set up more layers of Spikes up. Max Special Attack investment makes Accelgor doeal more damage, and minimal bulk allows Accelgor to use Unburden more reliably. Even without HP investment, Final Gambit will do plenty of damage if Accelgor is at full health. Rampardos was mentioned as a SR setter that beats Crustle. Mold Breaker goes through Sturdy so SR Rampardos can beat non-Focus Sash Crustle and stop it from getting any hazards up. It's just important to have something that matches up well against Lead Crustle, and Rampardos was just an example, if that makes more sense.

You can change that sentence accordingly if you got what I was trying to say here.

Why does offensive Accelgor need ghost support? You list it alongside rapid spin (actually you write it like the ghosts themselves spin), if it's spinblocking then you need to distinguish that.

You know, scarfers like pyroar and rotom-s can just use their neutral stab vs. Lead accelgor and hold it to 1 layer.

Usage Tips
========

Using Encore against enemy Stealth Rock users forces them to switch out and gives Accelgor more time to act; it also prevents setup moves, but remember Klinklang and Slurpuff outspeed Accelgor after setting up and will not be hit by Encore. The attacking move will rarely be used, as an additional layer of Spikes will often be the better option, but Bug Buzz is useful for hitting Xatu as it switches in and preventing it from bouncing back Spikes. In case If Accelgor carries Energy Ball, it can surprise Seismitoad and Rhydon, allowing teammates to bypass their checks.

Team Options
========

Ghost-types block Rapid Spin, so Accelgor appreciates offensive Ghost-types such as Mismagius and Rotom as teammates. Stealth Rock support is mandatory to wear down threats immune to Spikes; Rhydon and Mesprit do this while hitting hard. Golurk can also use Stealth Rock and block Rapid Spin, but loses to all common Rapid Spin users and is not a particularly good spinblocker. imo either just "loses to all common Rapid Spin users" or "is not a particularly good spinblocker" is necessary; they both say the same thing! Some common leads such as Crustle match up very well against Accelgor, and having a teammate such as Rampardos to limit its these leads' entry hazards is crucial.

Moves
========

Giga Drain is an alternative to Energy Ball that allows Accelgor to recover some HP and mitigate some of the recoil damage of Life Orb.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

However, be careful of setup sweepers such as Belly Drum Slurpuff, Shift Gear Klinklang, and Swords Dance Feraligatr that can move before the Encore and OHKO Accelgor.

Team Options
========

Rapid Spin support from Kabutops and Ghost-types, such as Rotom and Mismagius, is appreciated to let Accelgor switch more liberally, but is not required as Accelgor already does a good job at applying offensive pressure to common Stealth Rock users. Bulky Rotom Rotom-A? Idk what's used is a good pivot and excels at keeping entry hazards in play. Hariyama completely nullifies offensive Accelgor, so Slurpuff and Vileplume are great options to keep it in check.

Hidden Power Rock hits both Fire- and Flying-types, while Hidden Power Ice hits Flying-types and is its Accelgor's best option against Altaria and Dragalge.

**Pokemon That Resist Bug-type resists**: Flying-, Poison-, and Fairy-type Pokemon such as Altaria, Rotom-S, Drifblim, and Garbodor resist every move on the offensive set.

**Choice Scarf Users**: As long as they're faster, Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Rotom-S and Pyroar are a problem for the offensive set. Weaker Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Rotom again, Rotom-A? also prevent Accelgor from laying down a second layer of Spikes by bypassing Focus Sash.

I haven't seen 'Rotom-A' be used since DPPT, so can you specify what that means? Every time I used 'Rotom' and not 'Rotom-S' I meant the normal Ghost / Electric base form of Rotom.
