Silly Things You've Seen In Other Metagames

Random Shit: All I Want for Christmas is a Greninja Ban Edition

Outrage Abomasnow, Weakness Policy Glaceon, Life Orb Glalie, and one guy who's going to be afraid of using imperfect accuracy moves for the rest of his life.
Technically, ignoring how horrifically slow it is, Glaceon isn't the stupidest thing ever to put a Weakness Policy on. Ice has a bunch of weaknesses for the foe to trigger a Weakness Policy with and Glaceon does have 110 base Defence and 95 base Sp. Def. 65/110 definitely isn't the worst physical bulk. I'm not saying it's not dumb, just that it's one of the better ideas that player had.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-197364739 K, There is a Ulti Spore Spammer Aegislash, a Gale Wings Torterra, a Defensive Deo that's really trying to be defensive..btw movesets are Will-o-Wisp, Feather Dance, Confuse Ray, and Eerie Impulse; a Dragon Dance Outrage Turboblaze (I Think) Shiny Rayquaza (Not a good set for BH), a scarfed imposter Blissey with only Acid Armor and a White Kyurem with Tail Glow, Flamethower, Boomburst, and i forgot the 4th move.

Boomburst is actually legit on Kyurem-W with Refrigerate. Can't vouch for Ice Gem, though.

Even then, Flamethrower isn't terrible or anything. I mean, it's probably not the best coverage to pair with Ice since Kyogre, Gyarados, and Volcanion are a things, but the move isn't directly outclassed by others. For comparison...

Flamethrower: 90 BP, 100 acc, 24 PP, 10% burn
Searing Shot: 100 BP, 100 acc, 8 PP, 30% burn
Blue Flare: 120 BP, 85 Acc, 8 PP, 20% burn
Magma Storm: 100 BP, 75 Acc, 8 PP, Partial Trapping
Eruption: 150 BP, 100 Acc, 8 PP, no secondary, deals less damage than Flamethrower at 59% HP and lower

Basically, it's the long-lasting, more consistent option in exchange for some power.

Before all the swings in momentum, Smeargle using Spore on not only a Breloom, but a poisoned Breloom.

Precipice Blades FEAR Nosepass, Kricketune (DELELELELEWHOOOOOOP), Gastly, using Brick Break in BH, using Hidden Power in BH, using Frustration on Sableye, said Sableye having Shadow Force and Ice Burn with no Power Herb, Giga Drain Chesnaught, and last but not least, using Frustration on Sableye a second time.

Wish Shelgon, anyone?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-197632874
A team with five Foongus is the least stupid thing here. Let me remind everyone that offensive Lugia is shit and Foongus is Poison type.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-197630270
Electivire with both Thunder Punch and Wild Charge, Zoom Lens Lapras, and don't tell me that Gardevoir was holding its mega stone.

Magnezone used Hidden Power!
It's super effective! The opposing Gyarados lost 61.4% of its health!
Um...

Well, that's one thing to switch Muk in on: Giga Impact Haxorus.

Oh god... the Eeveelution team bullshit has reached AG, too. Featuring Iron Tail Sylveon and Quick Claw Confuse Ray+Psychic Umbreon, and guest starring Foul Play Diggersby.

Read your damn type charts, people. Also, Pachirisu.

Toxic Orb Sableye. Yep.

Linoone does not get Toxic Boost. You're thinking of Zangoose. Also, offensive Furfrou and Delcatty ever.

In the PU room, we've started making teams of the worst shit people bring up because the room can get a bit cancer at times. Here's the second team so far, as I don't have the pastebin for the first

Aerial Ace Scizor?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-197737609
Garchomp trying to stack Stealth Rock, Destiny Bond Aegislash and more.
Technician makes Aerial Ace a 90 base power coverage move of one of the best attacking types out there. It's only stupid in as much as both Flying and Steel are resisted by Steel and Electric. What's really silly about that Scizor is the conspicuous lack of Bullet Punch.

I'd say it was their usage of Destiny Bond that was silly rather than the presence of the move itself.

Also what's with that Kyogre's moveset? Thunder, Scald, Water Spout, and Hidden Power that isn't SE on Dragon. (Of course, if it were that would be really stupid since then you may as well just use Ice Beam.)

At least it wasn't HP Fire, which I've seen on a few Primal Kyogres.

Monkey business.

The emergence of teams with large numbers of Ditto on them has led to some odd tactics to beat it. For example, Ice Beam Rayquaza that didn't mega evolve despite knowing Dragon Ascent, which failed to end the plagiarism threat, and Smack Down Primal Groudon, which succeeded.

A team of 6 Rocky Helmet Bastiodons. His opponent had some questionable plays, too, chiefly normal Gallade, Blizzard Dragonite with an Eject Button, and damn near everything having Double-Edge, which, of course, is a 4x resist against something with 168 base defense.

Surf Raichu can work in PU. Bounce Wailord and Dragon Rush Air Balloon Lairon? Not so much.

This guy had shit like Charge Beam+Ice Beam Mega Latias, non-mega Charizard that was physical, and the use of Thunderbolt on Nidoking. And yet he still won decisively. This is why I'm scared of low ladder.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-198157950
The guy with the shitty Altaria returns, this time against a team of Metapod, Kakuna, Togepi, Claydol, Jynx, and Miltank.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-198161328
So did this one, not the least of which was a team of all FEAR mons almost won.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/pu-198159147

IIRC you can still only mega evolve once per game, which is why he didn't mega evolve Rayquaza.

True, and he did mega evolve his Gengar. But that still begs the question: if you're gonna play AG, at least use the reason it was created in the first place.
Actually, Mega Ray isn't even all that effective in AG, from what I've heard, except in as much as you can pass a million Moody boosts to it and sweep everything. Primal Groudon x6 seems to be a more common/effective team archetype.

because everyone is overpreparing for mega ray and klefki to the point where running them is pretty much asking to be counterteamed.

  • Oran Berry Arceus
  • And maybe other silly movesets

Honestly, this one was close. And maybe my idols' first serious battle. The decisive turn was the 37th where I overpredicted Sylveon's waking up (expecting a Hyper Voice miss) and l ended up being unlucky because of both Haruka continously losing Speed (to the point where she became slower than Sylveon) and Sylveon managing to hit her twice (out of 2) despite her boosted Evasion.
