Checks & Counters
########
**Ground-types**: Ground types can block Rotom's volt switch and therefore take away your momentum. Common ground types in NU at the moment include Sandslash, Mega Steelix, Mega Camerupt, Seismitoad and Rhydon.
**Mega-pokemon**: Mega Steelix and Mega Camerupt are the biggest threats to Rotom as they are bulky enough to take hits as well as block volt switches. Mega Camerupt can absorb will-o-wisps and volt switches therefore making it a notable counter. Mega Audino can block shadow balls and heal off will-o-wisps with its access to heal bell. Be aware of this as well.
**Hariyama**: Hariyama likes to come in and absorb volt switches and shadow ball's due to its good special bulk. In order to wear down this check, go for will-o-wisp with Rotom to halve its attack. When looking at your opponents team, if they have a reliable fire spam check, beware of guts Hariyama.
**Dark Types**: Dark types can come in relatively safely on a Rotom's shadow ball and pursuit trap it. Keep an eye out for liepard or sneasel as they are common dark types that carry pursuit.
