How dare you ask if I am good enough.

is this good enough lettuce find out

will fix apostrophes later

Overview
########

  • - Contrary Leaf Storm
  • - ok coverage moves
  • - pretty fast
  • - resists Ground and Water
  • - but weak to Fire and Ice (and Flying), and low HP
  • - getting +2 boost is hard, still somewhat weak

Contrary Sweeper
########
name: Contrary Sweeper
move 1: Leaf Storm
move 2: Dragon Pulse
move 3: Hidden Power Rock
move 4: Glare / Knock Off
ability: Contrary
item: Life Orb
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========
  • - Leaf Storm duh
  • - Dragon Pulse hits opposing Dragon-types such as Latios, Latias, Salamence (only works if it hasn’t Mega’d already otherwise Mence outspeeds, unless it’s defensive), or Rayquaza that might try to tank Leaf Storm
  • - HP Rock is the best option for Ho-Oh, hits some other Flyers like Yveltal
  • +2 252 SpA Life Orb Serperior Hidden Power Rock vs. 248 HP / 52 SpD Ho-Oh: 317-374 (76.3 - 90.1%)
  • - Glare catches switch-ins
  • - Knock Off annoys switch-ins, and since Leaf Storm + Dragon Pulse can’t KO 212 HP Latias it could be useful to reduce its effectiveness
  • - Giga Drain to recover health, but very weak even when boosted
  • - HP Fire for Steels like Ferro or Klefki

Set Details
========

  • - Max Special Attack for the most damage possible
  • - Max Speed to be faster than Eons and Mega Diancie
  • - 4 Def so Genesect gets Special Attack boost, but Serperior is screwed either way
  • - Life Orb needed to hit hard

Usage Tips

========
  • - whittle down opponents so Serperior can clean
  • - bring Serp in against a weakened foe that will fall to Leaf Storm to get a +2 boost
  • - use appropriate coverage move
  • - not really worth bringing in early since doesn’t like taking pointless LO recoil or hazards
  • - can try to catch a Defog for an Evasion boost

Team Options
========
  • - Ho-Oh for opposing Steel-types
  • - Primal Groudon for Rocks
  • - Mega Gar for Lugia and Clefable
  • - Primal Kyogre can wear down opposing Primal Groudon and Latias so Serp can clean at +2
  • Xern as another sweeper

Other Options

########

  • - SubSeed, but use Shaymin-S
  • - Aromatherapy
  • - Taunt
  • - Synthesis?
  • Reflect / Light Screen maybe, use one of them in the last slot to set up easier ex: vs defensive Groudon w/o Lava Plume, proabably too situational

Checks & Counters

########
  • - Steel-types: Serp doesn’t really want to run HP Fire so Ferro, Klefki, Scizor, Genesect, etc wall it. Klefki can status Serp but can’t take boosted Leaf Storms
  • - Dialga: doesn’t care about much and hits hard back
  • - Lugia doesn’t care about HP Rock, can phaze or deal lots of damage
  • - Unaware Clefable ignores boosts
  • - Ho-Oh: full health Ho-Oh lives Leaf Storm and +2 HP Rock and roasts Serp
  • - Primal Groudon: lives +2 Leaf Storm and roasts with Lava Plume, but can’t switch in.
  • - can be revenged by things faster than it like Arceus, Mega Salamence, Mega Gengar, Mewtwo
  • - in general, just hit it. Unboosted Leaf Storm is weak, but switching into Leaf Storm + coverage move hurts

The only thing this really has going for it is Glare which doesn't help much when most of your switch ins are slow anyways. The only real use it has is paralyzing Choice Scarf sect and Jirachi, other than that it is for fishing for hax, something Skymin does better anyhow while also being able to hit Genesect hard neutrally with Air Slash and Jirachi Super Effectively with Earth Power. So yeah, I am going to have to agree with Fireburn and Dice here.

QC Rejected 3/3
