ORAS was somewhat kind to Vivillon, giving it an easier time putting foes to sleep, as now it has with access to Tailwind, allowing which allows it to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame. Although Vivillon compete'(remove)s with other sleep-inducing move users for a team slot, it has a solid niche, as it can set up Tailwind and beat Grass-types who that are immune to Sleep Powder,(RC) with Hurricane. This is helped by Vivillon's ability, Compound Eyes, allowing which grants Vivillon to almost always hit Hurricane and Sleep Powder near perfect accuracy. Unfortunately, it is easy to revenge kill, as outside of Tailwind,(RC) it gets outsped by common Pokemon such as Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Charizard-Y, and Vivillon has horrible bulk, meaning it has to rely on its Focus Sash to live a hit. Its Special Attack is also far from perfect, but Hurricane's high Base Power slightly makes up for that slightly. Vivillon also relies on Sleep Powder, so it has difficulty getting past Safety Goggles,(RC) and Taunt users.

A Timid nature allows it to beat outpace neutral base 100s such as Mega Kangaskhan,(RC) outside of Tailwind. 252 Special Attack EVs to allow it to hit as hard as possible, and as investment in bulk would be wasted. Focus Sash is required to let guarantees Vivillon lives a hit since it has bad bulk and a poor defensive typing. Compound Eyes is used to increase the accuracy of Sleep Powder and Hurricane.
Usage Tips

Tailwind should be used if it Vivillon or its team(remove space)mate needs to outspeed an opponent foe, or when predicting an opposing Protect. Vivillon should often switch out to allow its team(remove space)mates to take advantage of the good situation Vivillon produces with Sleep Powder and Tailwind. Hurricane should be used if the opponent has a Grass-type who that can take Sleep Powders. Vivillon should be be aware of Pokemon such as Aegislash and Rotom-H who that will sometimes carry Safety Goggles.

Set up sweepers,(RC) such as Mega Kangaskhan,(AC) and Azumarrill,(RC) appreciate the enemy being put to sleep, giving as it gives them free turns. Fake Out users,(RC) such as Hitmontop and Mega Kangaskhan,(RC) work well in order to at granting Vivillon a free turn, allowing it to set up Tailwind or put something to sleep. Knock Off users,(RC) such as Scrafty, Bisharp,(AC) and Weavile,(RC) can remove the opponents Saftey foe's Safety Goggles,(remove);(add) however, only the latter is faster than Vivillon so and can Knock Off Safety Goggles before Vivillon uses Sleep Powders. This is important,(AC) as most Safety Goggle users can beat Vivillon, and putting them to sleep would be Vivillon's best responce response. Kyurem-B works well as a partner, as it can Substitute on opposing sleeping Pokemon, and can take out the biggest problems to Vivillon;(remove),(add) namely Thundurus, Shaymin-S, and Safety Goggles Togekiss,(AC) and Rotom-H. Ground-types,(RC) such as Landorus-T and Excadrill,(RC) can beat Rock-types that are particularly threatening to Vivillon, as they can bring Vivillon down to its Focus Sash and possibly flinch it with Rock Slide.

Bug Buzz could be used to provides a secondary stab STAB option and more neutral damage coverage, but it does not have the room for it. Friend Guard helps Vivillon support its team, but it greatly appreciates the accuracy boosts from Compound Eyes. Hurricane could be dropped for a support move, but that makes Vivillon complete Taunt fodder. U-Turn can be used to provide confers momentum for Vivillon after it has put stuff to sleep. Rage Powder allows it to help its team(remove space)mate, however but Vivillon cannot take many hits.
