Overview
########
  • Great typing with nine resistances including one to Stealth Rocks and good defensive stats allow it to take on Geomancy Xerneas, one of the most dangerous pokemon in the tier.
  • Immunity to Toxic due to its Steel-type.
  • Can set up Stealth Rocks for the team.
  • Easy to wear down because it has no recovery outside of Rest, which is very unreliable.
  • Somewhat Taunt bait.
  • It is set up fodder for Salamence-Mega and Groudon-Primal; the best thing it can do is potentially toxic them.

Support
########
name: Support
move 1: Gyro Ball
move 2: Stealth Rock
move 3: Toxic
move 4: Earthquake / Protect
ability: Levitate
item: Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
nature: Sassy

Moves
========
  • Gyro Ball is the STAB move of choice because of Bronzong's low speed, doeing decent damage against fast pokemon, and almost OHKO's Xerneas after a Geomancy.
  • Bronzong's great defensive typing with its resistances along with its ability make it a great Stealth Rock setter that does not get worn down with hazards.
  • Toxic cripples common hazard removers such as Giratina and support Arceus formes.
  • Earthquake hits Steel-types like Klefki, Dialga, and Aegislash that are not affected by Toxic, as well as the ocassional Poison-type.
  • Protect is an option to get extra Leftovers recovery and rack up Toxic damage.

Set Details
========
  • Full HP investment improves Bronzong's bulk both on the physical and special side, making it better able to take on all pokemon.
  • Full Special Defense investment makes Bronzong better able to take on Xerneas and other specially based threats.
  • A Brave nature with a spread of 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD is an option to ensure that the standard Geomancy Xerneas is always OHKO'd by Gyro Ball after the Geomancy boost, while powering up the move against other threats as well. Equipping an Iron Plate and moving 28 EVs into Attack from the listed spread also accomplishes this.

Usage Tips
========
  • Take advantages of its resistances to switch in on threats like Rayquaza and set up Stealth Rocks as soon as possible to get the most out of them.
  • Avoid pokemon with RestTalk, because they can simply sleep off the Toxic and potentially stall Bronzong out of Gyro Ball's.
  • Bronzong lacks reliable recovery, so if you need it to defeat a specific threat on the opponents team avoid switching it in much because it will get worn down, despite taking little from hazards.

Team Options
========
  • Water-types like Palkia and Kyogre-Primal have good synergy with Bronzong, covering its Fire-type weakess while Bronzong covers Palkia's Fairy-type and Dragon-type weaknesses, as well as Kyogre's Grass-type weakness.
  • Dark-types cover Bronzong's weaknesses to Ghost-types and opposing Dark-types. Good choice would be Yveltal, whom can possibly prevent the opponent from defogging Bronzong's Stealth Rocks away with Taunt or simply pressure them with an offensive set.
  • Fairy-types have great synergy with Steel-types like Bronzong, because they resist all weaknesses of Fairy-types. Xerneas, Klefki, and Arceus-Fairy are all good options to cover Bronzong's Dark-type weakness.
  • A teammate with priority is needed to finish Xerneas off after Bronzong's Gyro Ball, unless you decide to use one of the alternate spreads to guarantee the OHKO. Good choices would be Rayquaza, Arceus, Giratina-O, and Genesect.

Other Options
########
  • A dual screens set is a possibility to create set up opportunities for teammates, but is generally done better by other pokemon.
  • Rest could be used as recovery, but requires Cleric support; which is not an incredibly big deal because it has good type synergy with Xerneas.
  • Bronzong is a pretty reliable Trick Room setter since it's slow, bulky, and has Stealth Rocks and Explosion.
  • Hypnosis is an option to put one of its counters or checks to sleep, but is very unreliable because of its low accuracy.
  • Skill Swap is an interesting move that removes Magic Bounce from Sableye-Mega and Diancie-Mega, allowing you to set up Stealth Rocks and use Toxic against them.
  • Hidden Power Ice makes it able to beat non Knock Off Landorus-T better and hits Gliscor very hard, whom would otherwise be able to stall Bronzong out of Gyro Ball's.

Checks & Counters
########

**Shadow Tag**: Shadow Tag users like Gothitelle and Gengar-Mega can royally screw Bronzong over, potentially opening up the way for a Geomancy Xerneas sweep. Gothitelle can trick it a Choice Scarf to weaken its Gyro Ball and set up all over it, while Gengar-Mega 2HKO's it with Shadow Ball and only gets 2HKO'd by both Gyro Ball and Earthqauke in return.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types take little from Gyro Ball and can threaten Bronzong with their super effective STAB moves. The most notable one is Ho-Oh, as it does not care about Gyro Ball and Earthquake and shrugs off Toxic with Regenerator.

**Taunt**: Although it does not stop Bronzong from using Gyro Ball and Earthquake, Taunt does stop it from using Toxic or Stealth Rocks, limiting its use. Taunt users like Mewtwo, Darkrai, Gengar, and most importantly Yveltal are all able to eliminate it with super effective moves.

**Status Absorbers**: Bulky status absorbers that don't take much from Gyro Ball and can deal with Toxic, like Rest Palkia and RestTalk Giratina, do not really care about anything Bronzong can do.

**Steel-types**: Although they have to watch out for Earthquake, most do not take that much damage from it and some are not even hit super effectively. Heatran and Dialga can threaten Bronzong with Fire-type attacks, although Heatran has to be wary of Earthquake. Ferrothorn and Skarmory switch in for free and set up their hazards, and Scizor can use Knock Off or even Pursuit trap it.

No lol, he has c&c formatted properly.
C&C is in written form and not in skeleton form, but imo for this section it doesn't really matter since in the written format they are all still easily visible. Stuff like Arceus-Ghost, Yveltal, Darkrai, etc. should be in C&C and its not, and theres probs more stuff as well that is missing.

QC rejected 1/3

Lacks a relevant niche, it's a poor Xern check for being a niche steel (aegi or jirachi are much better). Can set SR/check latis but really though if you are running balance you most likely run pdon for SR anyway and steels like aegi/rachi/klefki check latis better as well.

HP Ice should definitely be used over EQ or Protect in the fourth slot, it hits the very important Mega-Salamence.

0 SpA Bronzong Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Mega Salamence: 176-208 (53.1 - 62.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Together with Toxic and probably a physical defensive EV, you get a very solid Mega-Salamence Check, even with roost+refresh. If you predict roost, go for toxic, and of course hit it with HP ice if you predict refresh. Unless Salamence has the rare Fire Blast, it will not get past you. And this:

252 Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Return vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Bronzong: 76-90 (22.4 - 26.6%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

I think checking Salamence is one thing that truly differential it from other steel, and I suggest you or QC member at least try a physical defensive spread, as it can still check Xern and Latis with only Max HP while helping you to truly check Salamence. Physical defensive also help you to check Normal Arceus, another huge threat, much better. Bronzong loses hard to Kyogre, Dark type and Ghost type (which are mostly special oriented monsters) anyway, so you may as well use Physical defensive ev to help combat two S rank pokemon.

No DD Mence runs -SpD nature, so your calc is irrelevant. HP Ice does not 2HKO Mence that runs any extent of bulk investment, which many do.

The mention of Bronzong as a target of Fire Blast is inaccurate; even to a max Defense 0 SpD Bronzong, Fire Blast does not cover it as Mence's +1 STAB does more. Furthermore running physical investment over special eliminates Bronzong's only real niche, which is being able to comfortably SR against Defog Lati@s (Latios 2HKOs 0 SpD Bronzong with HP Fire).
