I already suggested (or tried to suggest) Snorunt, since both of it's evolutions are (technically) viable. But I don't know how viable Froslass really is, so I'm not sure.
Oh thats why i was confused. Well fross had some viability with d-bond spikes but it was being debated or so atm if i recalled. I mainly did glalie just cause i thought with its mega stone being done it would be alright but it shouldnt be done now that ya helped remind me snorunt already was done. Ill do nother one then

I've actually played a bit with Froslass. My impression is that, especially when focus sash is intact, she is fun to play around with, and cursed body can stop choiced mons in their tracks. But in general, the only other thing that sets it apart from Azelf in terms of a suicide lead is that it's spikes instead of rocks, and if I have to make a choice between spikes and rocks, generally I'll pick rocks.

Then that case for now think of a replacement to sub Snorunt with the next viability update coming ya should have an answer on if its still gonna be viable or not.

Oooh! I had an idea! This is an ice and dragon area, but no one has brought up the THE OU ice-dragon? I don't think it's quite the right power level for right now, but this seems like the perfect place to put Kyurem-B!

I worry about Kyube being way too powerful and bulky on both spectrums, and seeing as how we just introduced the genies and are going with weaker legends right now, I don't think so. I agree that the flavor is great, but if we put him here, put him here but make him unavailable until late-game.

I meant that he would be here, but they wouldn't be able to reach him until much later, either because of HM blocking, or needing a special item,

Go for it just make the puzzle and or difficulty getting there (like since this is a mountain, maybe a basement floor down with some silly puzzles and or junk. Id say it be alright just got to present it right.

Also tagging ForumBeta so i can just gently remind him something bout his ice puzzle or so.

For some reason, I missed the alerts for this thread, so give me a moment to catch up.

Web, analytic on zone? If that's a mistake then the standard spread of 172 Hp / 252 SpA / 84 Spe Modest would be better i guess.
  • And EQ > Stone Edge imo.
  • Either Gyara or TFlame for Lv. 60
  • Discharge > TBolt on Zone(gimmicky ik, just thought since Scald is so good it might work as well)
Analytic Zone is legit af man, look at this manly power!

252+ SpA Choice Specs Analytic Magnezone Flash Cannon vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 337-397 (88.2 - 103.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Wimpy trapping sets have no place on the mountain!(which is what your EVs are set for)

Yeah, I guess EQ > Stone miss on mamo tho. I'll change that.

Let me get this straight though, you see specs analytic zone, whose sole purpose in life is to blow stuff the eff up, and suggest reducing the BP of one of his main STABs?

...is the hiker supposed to have a will-o-wisp choice banded talonflame, or was that a mistake?
Have you seen Tflames movepool? It really doesn't have much going for it. At least choice WoW has some tiny chance of being helpful, unlike choiced taunt, steel wing, or roost.

Now moving away from talking about my terrible teambuilding, I'm going to take a quick tally of what we have so far.

So far we got 3 trainers, my hiker, CoC's Lance wanna-be(if it weren't for species clause I'd totally say it needs more dragonite, but it looks pretty good), and estar's hail team.

For other attractions we have strength puzzles, Ice slidey puzzles, a massive legendary spot (complete with BS braille puzzles), and in our basement, Kyub!

For wild pokemon it looks like we have Snorunt and a few dragons (I forget which, I think Zweilous and Gabite were mentioned though).

So we'll need a few more wild pokemon (we're at the point where repeats are fine, so if you wanna include ferro or pupitar, that's fine), and we should get some idea of where everything goes. Should we have the slidey ice puzzle guarding Kyub? Or do we make the player go through some on his first visit? Should there be any trainers in Kyub's basement? How big is this place anyway? How far in is Mence's genie spot? Is it outside of the mountain or inside? On which end is it?(as in, is it closer to where we came from, where we're going, smack dab in the middle, or well out of the way from the main path).

Besides that, we may want to consider another trainer or two, but we're actually pretty close to being set.

Choiced tailwind is actually the move with the best chance of doing something. Sure, it forces 50/50's, but it works surprisingly well.

So a good old strength puzzle. I don't know exactly where you guys want this, I really don't care where it goes. The one thing I'd like there to be is a Glalite at the end of the puzzle. So it pretty much goes like this: Soon after entering the mountain, there is a split in paths. One goes to exit and the strength puzzle, while the other one goes to Salemance's legendary spot. The strength puzzle is a mix between a regular one and Juan's eighth gym ice puzzle from Emerald, if anyone remembers that. (For those who don't, you could only step on a tile once, if you did twice, you fell through to a room below and had to start over) The player must both do the ice puzzle and shift strength boulders as well. The strength boulders are set up in groups of three and the player must get past each group before reaching the end (5 in all). Upon reaching the end you have the option of taking a stairway up or a ladder down. If you take the ladder down, you will find a Glalite, and if you take the stairway up, you get closer to the exit. The general gist of it is to give the player a good puzzle and a reward at the end.

Sorry if it is a little scrambled, but I'm really tired right now.

Ight so probably gonna be last serious addition post from me for awhile (took too long to type this up on my phone as is and till I get my stolen computer back im gonna be in and out of it) so here goes.

(End Battle): Scratch that.

After Battle: "Sorry there, I just got roped into going to this freezing mountain by my friends. Don't they most my guys hate the cold? Couldn't even get down below to find that ancient behemoth mon they were chatting bout..."

Anyway, ya. A trainer who is sorta lost. I like him.

estralita are you working on kyu-b(which should be made available later)?
Anything else you guys feel like suggesting, cos i feel that the wrap up is close? dont leave guys ;-;

I'm thinking, just dont really know how to do an ice puzzle. I actually thought it might go a bit differently. Someone mentioned having a Dragon Shrine, and I think that would be the best place for it to be. In addition to finding a wild Hydreigon/Dragonite (I prefer Dragonite) I feel like there should be a Keeper of the Shrine ( like in the Dragon's Den) who, mentions a special dragon who sometimes appears, but only who is strong enough to tame it. Would that work?

Yeah the Dragon Shrine is my idea, and the consensus was to make it a Zweilous because giving away fully evolved dragons would be too OP (though honestly I don't really see the problem because Zweilous evolves around our average level RN anyway)
But yeah a "Shrine Keeper" might work, but I think another dragon team would be a little too much seeing as we have Lance Cosplayer already.

I actually wasn't thinking that there would be one (at least not here) I think people were saying that KB is too strong to give away right now, so I thought that they'd have to find an item later and bring it back to the shrine, and then you could fight KB (at a higher level than the ones around here)

Kyurem-B will be here, but just not available to the player rn, but that shouldn't stop you from plotting something for it. Remember the Heatran in the Volcano basement? It's there, and we know it, but we haven't made it available yet, so you could do the same, like do the whole of the mountain, mention its secrets and how they're blocked atm.

Alrighty, it seems like we've got a pretty complete idea of what the cave should look like. Wrap up time!

So this cave has around 6 visitable rooms on our first trip. The first one is a your standard cave room containing the hail trainer, my random hiker, and an ultra ball sitting in a corner(cuz freebees are cool). There is a staircase leading up. Near the stairs is a monk NPC who calls himself Valentino, who asks the player to escort him to Dragon Shrine. Taking him up the staircase leads to a corridor branching in three separate directions, Up, Down, and Right. Going up a brief way leads to Salemence's monk area(where the genies and braille puzzles are found), which I officially dub as Genie Peak. Going down will take you to what looks like a dead end passage blocked by a watery passageway. Out of the player's sight is a waterfall, leading to the path leading up to Kyub. Right by the water's edge is an escape rope just to give the player something for their troubles. Once the waterfall has been traversed, the player will find a bunch of ice slidey puzzles not dissimilar to the ones leading to Regigigas in DPP, as well as some high level pokemon. I imagine this area going down 4 or 5 floors before hitting Kyub himself. Going right will lead to another staircase leading to a room slightly larger then the first room. Going north will take you towards the dragon shrine, being guarded by CoC's Lance cosplayer. Inside the Dragon Shrine you'll find a really awesome looking megazard-x statue, a full restore, and an abnormally high dragon encounter rate. I'm still going to say no to wild fully evolved dragons because dragons have a stupidly high base exp, making grinding really really easy in that room. Feel free to argue with me otherwise, but I think second evos are fine, especially since they evolve soon anyway. Back in the previous room, the cave exit is to the south, but there's a bunch of push blocks blocking the way. A careful player will notice that there is an item ball off to the side and can push the blocks in such a way to find out it's a dawn stone, which evolves snorunt into a froslass. After the strength puzzle, the player finds a channeler lady who says that the snorunts in this cave are weak, and then gives you a glailite saying that maybe you can find a use for them. Just past her is the mighty Lost Trainer Dave(archeologist sprite), who wonders why he let his friends talk him into this expedition. As you move towards the exit, you will find a narrow hallway blocked by a female dragon tamer(do those exist in pokemon?) If you've escorted Valentino from earlier to Dragon Shrine, she'll battle you for the right to pass. Past her are two more tough trainers blocking the exit.

Credit to Phione for dragon area

Credit to Salemance for Genie Peak

Credit to Phione for NPC giving out the glalite item.

Credit to Creator of Chaos for the exit gauntlet and monk Valintino

I forget whose idea it was to stick a dawn stone in one of the strength puzzles.

Credit to a lot of people for the strength puzzles and the slippery ice puzzles.

Trainers:

Btw, a lot of the ideas here were things I had while writing this up (funny what happens when you actually sit down and think about stuff). I fleshed out/changed a lot of things around, so if anything I did doesn't strike you right or just doesn't make sense, call me out on it.

Lastly, I just want to thank everyone reading this for sticking around for so long.

Looking ahead, we have a tiny route between the cave and the next town (which should hold a patch of grass and an NPC or two at absolute most). I believe we have all agreed on having a fairy gym next, but should we have that gym here or the next town? What purpose does this town have? What kind of folks are here? Do we have a bunch of hardy hikers due to being in such close proximity to the big mountain? Do we have a more spiritual town worshipping the genies and/or Kyub? What kind of stuff is there for the player to find here?

*edit*

as promised, I've edited in Creator of Chaos ' gauntlet exit.

For such a massive cave there's few trainers so I may add a few more later. Like some kinda guanlet towards the exit. Unless we are adding more later when we return because theres parts we cant access yet. I'll post the trainers later if thats what you want.

As for the next route. I propose that victini be made available behind a series of mini secret paths if the player brought the victini charm in the previous town. I'll post more later on this to

Ok I've decided to go ahead with my Cave Guanlete (Will edit into this post). It'll consist of 4 NPCs. 1 a Monk from the dragon shrine who's lost and wont battle you but instead who tells you a brief history of dragons apon smog/smog and asks you to escort him to the shrine while warning you of the lance wannabe in the lower levels. After escorting him he tells you that he was never lost but rather was assessing your Attitudes as a person and a trainer and then tells you to head to the exit to face a final trial to see if you are worthy of going to the town beyond

The other 3 NPCs are Trainer's forming a mini guanlet at the exit of the cave and Wait there to see if people who have travelled through the cave are worthy of leaving. Each with a Fairy/Dragon/Steel Core from one of the main archtypes. First will be a stall team, Second a balance team and the 3rd a Hyper Offence Team. I dont have much experience building stall teams So I would appreaciate if someone Done the Stall team for me but I'll have the other 2 up shortly complete with lite dialog (Well in comparison to my previous NPCs anyway).

NPC 1. Monk Valatino:

1st Speech ''Hello Young Trainer. It appears you know your way around the mountain. WOuld you be so kind as to escort me to the dragonshrine. I would go by myself but my body is not as good as it used to be and my memory of paths are faltering. I will make it worth your while?.... are good. Lets go''
Midway Speech ''Let me tell you a brief history of the dragons. Long have these pokemon been coveted for there destructive power's. But dragons were not always seen as prizes for capture or creatures of destruction. In pre-history they helped to carve the land of smog/smog and enabled humans to spread deep into the land. Infact many worshiped the dragons as god but somewhere along the line the connection was lost. Still Even after that until fairies came dragons still dominated the land. Come on I'll tell you more later lets go ''
On arrival ''Thank you trainer you have done me well and if you have not already encountered him I would ask you avoid the lance wannabe in the lower levels. He claims to be a dragon master yet only use's the magestic creatures for raw power Whilst ignoring of there ability to support us. It is there ability to support us and the land that makes dragons so much more then tools and It is why I visit this shrine still and why I hope to pass its secrets on to younger trainers so that people know. Anyway thank you again. I lied about my almients. YOu are indeed a trainer of conviction. Go to the exit there a final challange awaits''

Cave Exit Guanlet: Located in the room just before the Exit. These 3 trainers 2 accolytes of the dragon arts and another a monk await you for battle to see if you are worthy of leaving the cave
Dragon Accolyte (Female) Ishta
Pre-battle speech: So Trainer Valatino let you threw. Almost never does. I guess its my turn to test you. No way out of this cave without breaking through defensives walls first

Also I have a proposal for the next route that partly deals with the ever changing viability lists and why Some trainers have pokemon that are nolongfer ranked. Call it the Unranked Safari. No this is not for trash like Typhlosion or Forretress but rather Niche pokemon that were previously ranked and nolonger are like arcanine or Mienshao. Basically if it was once on the ORAS viability thread it can be found here but are unaqquirable till post game when the player understands the meta enough to actually use these properly. It does 2 things, Gives the player something to look foward to post game and 2 an Igame lorebased excuse as to why some players have mienshaos and Lanturns. Now this is just a proposal. I can go further with it or drop it entirely. Its up to you guys.

PS: sorry I haven't added the NPCs yet been a difficult couple of days at home they will be posted by tommorow tho

Ok I have added the Monk you escort to the dragon shrine along with the endcave guanlet to my previous post :). Take a look and tell me what you guys think. That should personally round out the mountain till we comeback later and push further. Sorry it took so long but its up now :)

Anyway Onto the Next route. I already have 2 proposals up 1 the secret path to Victini and 2 The Unranked safari thats inaccessable till postgame. I will expand on these later should we need to.

Anyway pokemon proposal for the route.

Lopunny.
Common Lv 64-71
Rare moves. Encore 20%, Fake out 14% chance
Held Item. Normal Gem 5%

Why Lopunny? Its mega is currently one of the best up there to come out of oras easily duking it out with Alteria, diancie and Metagross. It completly craps on offense and with the right moves can put in work vs Balance and Stall. Even its non mega version can kinda pull off Choice set tho its appreance in recent tournies maybe a one off but regardless lop is a great pokemon

While I still have doubts about typlosion as heatran still gives it stiff competion. Feraligator is most certainly gonna be viable. Not sure how viable but its certainly good. Now I feel sorry poor meganium. That thing is forever bad lol. If you wanna make a proposal for Feraligator or even typlosion if you can convince everyone then go for it

Typlosion could have a niche set since it actually has the speed and nature to use eruption correctly and he can be a fast fire type special attacker that could help sun offense if it was paired with megazardy as sun boosted eruption does a shiton to nonresists and solarbeam lets it beat a lot of common mons like rotom-w. Also, Tyrantrum should be added since rock head is released. Also, I think this game should have a tutor-like person that can change ANY pokemon's regular ability to its dw ability except the borked ones like ST Chandy (that was fixed by GF anyways).
