Project Counter that Threat! 21st Week: Snover - Counters Submissions

Larvesta won because Jac bribed people, however I'll be picking Koffing too as it's.. too perfect.

This time the threat is:

Snover @ Eviolite
Level: 5
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 36 HP / 104 Atk / 40 Def / 184 SpA / 120 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Blizzard
- Giga Drain
- Ice Shard
- Hidden Power Ground

sam-testings

What a beautiful face, I have found in this place
Reserving vulpix.

Vulpix @ Eviolite
Ability: Drought
Level: 5
EVs: 196 Spa/ 76 Spd/ 236 Spe
timid
-flamethrower
-energy ball
-will o wisp
-whatever filler move

Pretty self explanatory. You live an hp ground or resist everything else, and then kill with flamethrower. You can even try to heal to full if you really want. or wisp on the switch. You even live after stealth rocks damage.

184+ SpA Snover Hidden Power Ground vs. 52 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Vulpix: 10-12 (47.6 - 57.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after hail damage
(10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 12)

196 SpA Vulpix Flamethrower vs. 36 HP / 120 SpD Eviolite Snover: 28-36 (121.7 - 156.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
(28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 36)

tbh because Snover's Eviolite, any fire type will work.

Bronzor @ Berry Juice
Ability: Levitate
Level: 5
EVs: 220 HP / 72 Def / 8 SpA / 152 SpD / 20 Spe
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Recycle
- Hidden Power [Fighting]/Stealth Rock

184+ SpA Snover Blizzard vs. 220 HP / 152+ SpD Bronzor: 5-6 (20 - 24%) -- 94.9% chance to 4HKO after hail damage

Bronzor can come in on any of Snover's attacks and start setting up Calm Minds to slowly kill Snover and take less and less damage each turn. It's pretty fun when you sweep someone with a smiling sewage drain lid.

Lil' Sebastian (Ponyta) (M) @ Eviolite
Ability: Flame Body
Level: 5
EVs: 116 HP / 80 Def / 76 SpD / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Flare Blitz
- Wild Charge
- Morning Sun

Can switch into snover's stabs very easily and this spread has enough sp def evs so that it isn't 2hkod by hp ground (unless rocks and hail is up, then theres a chance of a high roll). Easily kills back with a flare blitz. Should be noted however that his recovery is limited in the hail which can be annoying.

Calcs:
184+ SpA Snover Hidden Power Ground vs. 116 HP / 76 SpD Eviolite Ponyta: 8-10 (34.7 - 43.4%) -- 12.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and hail damage
184+ SpA Snover Blizzard vs. 116 HP / 76 SpD Eviolite Ponyta: 4-6 (17.3 - 26%) -- 11.7% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and hail damage
0 Atk Ponyta Flare Blitz vs. 36 HP / 40 Def Eviolite Snover: 48-60 (208.6 - 260.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

reserving slugma

Slugma @ Eviolite
Ability: Flame Body
Level: 5
EVs: 196 HP / 196 SpD / 116 Spe
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Earth Power
- Recover
- Memento/Will-O-Wisp/Clear Smog

This set switches into any of Snover's moves (184+ SpA Snover Hidden Power Ground vs. 196 HP / 196+ SpD Eviolite Slugma: 8-10 (34.7 - 43.4%) -- 12.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and hail damage) and outspeeds and kills with Lava Plume. This spread also outspeeds walls like Spritzee and Ferroseed that Slugma destroys.

Munchlax @ Berry Juice
Ability: Thick Fat
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 236 SpD
Adamant Nature

184+ SpA Snover Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 236 SpD Munchlax: 7-10 (23.3 - 33.3%) -- 15.4% chance to 3HKO after hail damage

(7, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 10)
184+ SpA Snover Blizzard vs. 0 HP / 236 SpD Thick Fat Munchlax: 6-7 (20 - 23.3%) -- 0.1% chance to 4HKO after hail damage

(6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 7)

236+ Atk Munchlax Fire Punch vs. 36 HP / 40 Def Eviolite Snover: 24-32 (104.3 - 139.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

(24, 24, 24, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 32)

This guy doesn't need any presentation, he can tank any snover's attack and 1hko back with fire punch, but can as well get the momentum and bulk up with curse and recycling juice while snover can't touch him.

Tepig @ Berry Juice
Ability: Thick Fat
Level: 5
EVs: 156 HP / 92 Atk / 76 Def / 156 SpD
Careful Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Flare Blitz
- Flame Charge
- Head Smash

92 Atk Tepig Flame Charge vs. 36 HP / 40 Def Eviolite Snover: 24-28 (104.3 - 121.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

184+ SpA Snover Hidden Power Ground vs. 156 HP / 156+ SpD Tepig: 10-14 (40 - 56%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and hail damage
(10, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 14)

104 Atk Snover Ice Shard vs. 156 HP / 0 Def Thick Fat Tepig: 2-3 (8 - 12%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock and hail damage
(2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3)

Snover never kills while bacon can come in 2 times (3 times w/o sr) and kill.

Timburr @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
Level: 5
EVs: 76 HP / 196 Atk / 76 Def / 156 SpD
Impish Nature
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Mach Punch
- Fire Punch

"Classic" Timburr is really a good Snover's checker because it can hold Snover's Blizzard and hits it very hard. But it can't switch in, even if we are talking about a narrow margin and commons Timburr's attack moves are quite good:

184+ SpA Snover Blizzard vs. 76 HP / 156 SpD Eviolite Timburr: 10-13 (40 - 52%) -- 56.3% chance to 2HKO after hail damage
196 Atk Timburr Mach Punch vs. 36 HP / 40 Def Eviolite Snover: 12-14 (52.1 - 60.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
196 Atk Timburr Drain Punch vs. 36 HP / 40 Def Eviolite Snover: 14-20 (60.8 - 86.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Timburr becomes a real counter with Fire Punch:

196 Atk Timburr Fire Punch vs. 36 HP / 40 Def Eviolite Snover: 20-28 (86.9 - 121.7%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

Reserving based god cat ferret lord Mienfoo

Mienfoo @ Eviolite
Level: 5
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 196 Def / 36 SpD / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Fake Out

Typical bulky foo is easily able to cut a Christmas tree, beat eviolite snover due to it's ability to live a Blizzard in hail so it can come in and OHKO with a High Jump Kick, since it has it's own eviolite, plus it outspeeds it.

Some Relevent Calcs

184+ SpA Snover Blizzard vs. 0 HP / 36 SpD Eviolite Mienfoo: 10-13 (47.6 - 61.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after hail damage-Not KO'd
0 Atk Mienfoo High Jump Kick vs. 36 HP / 40 Def Eviolite Snover: 24-30 (104.3 - 130.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO-OHKO'd even with no attack investments.
