Quest: Cleansing the Elements (AOPSUser)

The violent strife with Zapdos cleared the way from the slide which was blocking the path. You proceed through it, as it seems to lead down from the mountain. Above you, the sky slowly clears as the thunderstorm fades away. An important step towards the conquest of the Stormrage Mountain summit has been done - Lance will likely want to hear word from you as soon as possible. While you walk down the route, though, you spot an odd construction, sculptured in the wall. It seems some kind of altar, but you ignore what the writings on its surface could possibly mean... until, suddenly, the scepter Eusine gave you starts shimmering! Perhaps it can be used on the altar is some way?

Wielding tightly the scepter in your hands, you point it at the altar. A glowing yellow light spreads from the top of the scepter, reaching the topaz socketed in the altar and shattering it. Suddenly, the sky above you is once again swarmed by black, menacing clouds. But this time, a heavy rainstorm follows the thunders and the gusts of wind. You wonder if it wouldn't be better to just leave, but before you can make this decision, a mighty lightning bolt falls from the sky, hitting the ground near you. You close your eyes for a moment, blinded by the sudden burst of light. Then, when you reopen them, a threatening beasts stands before you, a fierce look in its eyes!

The ball accumulates as many damage as the damage suffered by each Pokémon wielding it. The ball can be passed to another friendly Pokémon using an action. If the ball is thrown at Raikou, Raikou takes as much damage as the amount of charges on the Lightning Ball. If no Lightning Ball are present at the end of an action, Raikou will throw another one.

Our strategy is simple: Get threat with Colossoil, pray for Weather Ball, and let Gastrodon comfortably tank. This fight is all about maximizing our damage, and as such I've chosen not to go for the Earthquakes, with the logic that using attacks that cost less EN will allow us to sqeeze in a couple more attacks, and since a lot of our mons are special attacking anyways Earthquake isn't really doing that much more than, say, Mud Bomb.

With the Lightning Ball this time I want to do a 4-2 rotation. The reason for this is we want to milk as much charges as possible before passing, and next time we can also try to sqeeze in a 4-2 with Garchomp or Seismitoad. Raikou's only spread attack is Discharge, and I doubt that will be much of an issue here, so we can be really liberal with the HP totals of any mon not named Colossoil or Gastrodon.

With our main go-to moves being Earth Power and Mud Shot/Bomb/Drill Run, and factoring in Pressure (so each attacking Pokemon Chills once or twice), we're sitting at about 2300 damage over 8 rounds (not factoring the Thunder Shield rounds ofc). And that's with Fidgit not lifting a finger. So basically the fight boils down to managing our energy levels and managing the Thunder Shield rounds. With all mons going all-out on that round I have us at least breaking even (and at most getting more damage than a usual round). So we're good in terms of damage.

Thanks to the huge lightning ball thrown by Handsome, the team manages to break Raikou's shield quite swiftly, stunning the beast and getting ample opportunity to beat it down. However, eventually Raikou recovers from the blow, stronger than before.

Let's go back to the EN-conserving moves. Colo is Chilling because it'll eventually have to Chill anyways, and because we don't want it accidentally getting threat. Next round the Lightning Ball is going to one of our 110 HP mons so they can hold it for 4a.
