Latios

Overview
########

Latios is almost never seen because of competition from Mega Salamence and Hydreigon. A Psychic typing is not as useful, and hitting Fighting-types for super effective damage isn't as useful either. Its use now primarily stems from its Special Defense, resistances, and useful support movepool, with a hard-hitting Draco Meteor tacked on to make it a threat.

Special Attacker
########
name: Special Attacker
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Psyshock / Psychic
move 3: Tailwind / Helping Hand / Hidden Power Ground
move 4: Protect
ability: Levitate
item: Life Orb
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========
Draco Meteor is very powerful with the Life Orb boost and will do heavy damage. Psyshock hits Pokemon such as Assault Vest Conkeldurr and Sylveon harder than Psychic does, while the latter can still be used because outside of those targets it's the more powerful option. Tailwind lets Latios provide speed control. Helping Hand lets Latios support the team after a Draco Meteor, and Hidden Power Ground hits Heatran, which walls Latios otherwise. Protect is used to block or scout attacks.

Set Details
=======
Latios should hit as hard and fast and possible, as investing EVs in bulk isn't worth it. Timid is preferred to outspeed non-Choice Scarf Pokemon such as other Dragon-types and Terrakion. Life Orb gives Latios a huge power boost.

Usage Tips
=======
Get in, use Draco Meteor, and get out. Use a support option if you have the time. Anticipate Draco Meteor switch-ins, because if your opponent has a Steel- or Fairy-type, they will almost always bring it in of the time at the sight of Latios. Consider going for another option such as attacking the slot you think is staying or using Psychic/Hidden Power Ground on the switching slot if you think a Pokemon that can sponge a Draco Meteor is coming.

Team Options
=======
Latios likes having Pokemon that can bust through Steel- and Fairy-types as partners. Entei and Arcanine make for good switch-ins to Fairy-type attacks and can take out most Steel-types. Landorus-T and Garchomp make for good partners because of their ability to use Earthquake and remove Steel-types without repercussion, as Latios is immune to Ground-type attacks. Watch out for Blizzard, though. Steel-types have great defensive and solid offensive synergy with Latios. Aegislash can use Wide Guard to protect Latios from Hyper Voice, and can beat Fairy-types. Heatran can KO most Steel-types and has a lot of offensive pressure. Latios likes Fake Out support so that it can use Draco Meteor and Tailwind. Mega Kangaskhan can use Fake Out and its awesome raw offensive power helps break throught teams. Hariyama and Hitmontop can lend your team Fake Out support and deal with most Steel-types. Infernape is much frailer than all three, but takes out virtually every Steel-type, has wicked Speed, and can use Encore to punish Protect and other moves.

Choice Specs
########
name: Choice Specs
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Psyshock / Psychic
move 3: Dragon Pulse / Hidden Power Ground
move 4: Trick / Hidden Power Ground
ability: Levitate
item: Choice Specs
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid / Modest

Moves
=======
Draco Meteor is Latios strongest STAB move and will do huge damage with Choice Specs. Psychic is the stronger move on slot 2, unless you want Latios to hit Pokemon such as Sylveon and Assault Vest Conkeldurr for physical damage. Dragon Pulse is another option for Draco Meteor if you don't want the drop or the risk of a miss. Hidden Power Ground hits Heatran. Trick can be used to cripple a defensive Pokemon if Latios cannot use its power effectively.

Set Details
========

A Timid nature is preferred to outspeed non-Choice Scarf Pokemon such as other Dragon-types and Terrakion. EVs should be invested in Special Attack and Speed, as running EVs for bulk doesn't let Latios survive any specific attacks. Choice Specs lets Latios OHKO neutrally hit Pokemon and can be used to cripple defensive Pokemon with Trick.

Usage Tips
========

Use Draco Meteor on threatening foes and switch out afterward. Use Dragon Pulse on other Pokemon in Latios's KO range or during the late-game, but be aware that it's much weaker than Draco Meteor. Use Latios's coverage moves as needed.

Team Options

Dragon Pulse can be used if you want a reliable move against Dragon-types but comes with much less power. Energy Ball can OHKO Swampert. Ice Beam can OHKO Landorus-T. Icy Wind can be used if you want speed control on your team. Reflect or Light Screen can be used if you want Latios to support your team.

Checks & Counters
########

**Steel-types**: Aegislash, Heatran, Mawile, Metagross, and Bisharp can threaten Latios because they resist its STAB moves, though they must be careful if it runs Hidden Power.

**Fairy-types**: Clefable, Togekiss, Sylveon, Azumarill, and Gardevoir can switch in on Latios's Dragon-type attacks and threaten it with Fairy-type attacks.

**Dark-types**: Tyranitar and Scrafty can both tank Latios's Draco Meteor and KO it with Crunch or Knock Off. Weavile can't switch in, but it is faster and can KO Latios.

Moves

Draco Meteor is still very powerful with the LO Life Orb (write out any abbreviations or acronyms) boost and will do heavy damage. Psyshock hits Pokemonlike such as ("like" should be used for comparisons. "such as" should be used for including the following items in a list, essentially.) AV Assault Vest Conkeldurr and Sylveon harder than Psychic, while the latter can still be used since because ("because" is preferred over "since." traditionally, "since" is used to refer to time, rather than reason, eg. "haven't eaten since January") outside of those targets it's the more powerful option. Tailwind lets Latios lend its team speed control. Helping Hand lets it support the team after a Draco Meteor, and HP Hidden Power gGround hits Heatran, which walls you Latios (use "you" to refer to you the battler, not the Pokemon) otherwise.

Set Details
=======
Latios should hit as hard and fast and possible, so Timid is preferred to out-speed (no hyphen, so should be "outspeed") other non-scarfed (this is not an accepted term. "scarfed" is the past tense of "scarf," as in scarfing down food. I'm hoping adding non- in front is okay, though) non-Choice Scarf Pokemon such as other Dragon-types and Terrakion.

Usage Tips
=======
Get in, use Draco Meteor, get out. Use a support option if you have the time. , (remove random comma) Anticipate Draco Meteor switch-ins, because if your opponent has a Steel- or Fairy-type, they will bring it 90% of the time at the sight of Latios. Consider opting going for another option (this is just because "opting for another option" sounds a bit odd to me, you can leave it if you want) if something to sponge a Draco Meteor is coming. ("...if you think one of these types will switch in to sponge the Draco Meteor." just a suggestion.)

Team Options
=======
Latios likes Pokemon that can bust through Steel- and Fairy-types. Entei and Arcanine make for good switch ins switch-ins (something can "switch in" on a Pokemon, but Pokemon are good "switch-ins") to Fairy-type attacks and can take out most Steel-types. Landorus-T and Garchomp make for good partners because of their ability to use Earthquake and remove Steel-types alongside Latios, (ac) repuercussion free. Watch out for Blizzard, though. Steel-types have great defensive and solid offensive synergy with Latios. Aegislash can use Wide Guard to protect Latios from Hyper Voice and beat Fairy-types. Heatran can KO most Steel-types and lends a lot of offensive pressure. Latios likes Fake Out to support so it can use Draco Meteor and Tailwind. (just to increase clarity) Mega Kangaskhan gives you can provide Fake Out and its awesome raw offensive power. Hariyama and Hitmontop can lend you your team Fake Out Ssupport and deal with most Steel-types. Infernape is much frailer than all three, but takes out virtually every Steel-type, has wicked Speed, and can use Encore to punish Protect and other moves.

Moves
=======
Draco Meteor is the Latios's strongest STABmove (space between these) and will do huge damage with Choice Specs. Psychic is the stronger move on slot 2, unless you want Latios (may not be necessary, but just to make clear the distinction between "you" the battler and "Latios/it" the Pokemon) to hit mons Pokemon ("mons" may be too casual) like such as Sylveon and AV Conkeldurr for physical damage. Dragon Pulse is another option for Draco Meteor if you don't want the drop or the risk of a miss. Hidden Power hits Heatran.

Set Details
========

Hit as hard and fast possible. Timid is preferred to outspeed other nonscarfed dragons except Mega Mence and Terrakion. (apart from the use of "scarfed," it's also unclear because it implies Terrakion is also a dragon...so it needs to be rewritten to make it clearer. You could also just copy and paste from the same paragraph in the other set.)

Usage Tips
========

Use Draco Meteor on threatening things foes and switch out afterward. Use Dragon Pulse on other things Pokemon (because "things" is pretty general and informal; I just used "foes" and "Pokemon" for variety, you can change it as you wish) in its Latios's KO range or in late-game (hyphenate late and game), but be aware that it's much weaker than Draco Meteor. Use your Latios's coverage moves as needed.

Team Options

Latios likes Pokemon that can bust through Steel- and Fairy-types.Entei (space) and Arcanine make for good switch ins switch-ins to Fairy-type attacks and can take out most Steel-types. Landorus-T and Garchomp make for good partners because of their ability to use Earthquake and remove Steel-types alongside Latios repurcussion free. (oh, you copy-pasted the other paragraph. just make the same changes, then) Watch out for Blizzard, though. Steel-types have great defensive and solid offensive synergy with Latios. Aegislash can use Wide Guard to protect Latios from Hyper Voice and beat fairies. Heatran can KO most Steel-types and lends a lot of offensive pressure. Mega Kangaskhan gives you Fake Out and its awesome raw offensive power. Hariyama and Hitmontop can lend you Fake Out Support and deal with most Steel-types. Latiosite can be used if Life Orb/ or Choice Specs are is not free or if you don't have a megaslot Mega Pokemon. (I would say the term "megaslot" is a little unclear, just in general terms, though in this case it is pretty obvious it just means a Mega Pokemon.) Choice Scarf can be used to get a surprise kill against Mega Salamence, but there is not really anything else that's worth the extra sSpeed. Dragon Pulse, Energy Ball, Ice Beam, Icy Wind, Reflect OR Light Screen can be used if you want to support your team or if you want to OHKO Swampert or Landorus-T without Draco Meteor. (This isn't very clear. It implies that Reflect and Light Screen can OHKO those Pokemon, and that anything in that list of options can take out both Swampert and Landorus-T, which they certainly can't. Also, not sure if Dragon Pulse gets the guaranteed OHKO on both, since I don't know what they run in VGC, although if that isn't what you meant, then, well, it needs to be clearer.) Icy Wind can be used if you want speed control for your team.

Checks & Counters
########

Aegislash, Heatran, Mawile, Metagross, (ac) and Bisharp can threaten it because they resist Latios'sSTABmovesunless (eep, add spaces between these) it runs Hidden Power. Clefable, Togekiss, Sylveon, Azumarill, (ac) and Gardevoir can switch in onDragon-type (...space) attacks and threaten it with Fairy-type attacks. Tyranitar and Scrafty can both tank its Draco Meteor and KO it witch Crunch/ or Knock Off. Weavile can't switch in, but is faster and can KO Latios.

(erm. I believe this last bit is incorrectly formatted. You can go here and open the sample XY Smeargle analysis to see how it should look. Threats need categories, and the category titles need two asterisks around them with a colon following, eg. **Dragon-types**:. Categories for Latios might be Steel-types, Fairy-types, and Dark-types.)

This may sound stupid, but I'm questioning whether you should include the phrase, "lost access to Dragon Gem" and the like. Although unreleased, it was nerfed to a 30% boost, so we wouldn't know how Dragon Gem Latios would act like in this meta. Basically what I'm trying to say is that is it safe to say that phrase? To me, the reader, it implies that Dragon Gem Latios would be good in the meta, but due to its new mechanics and unreleased nature we wouldn't know how good it is.

Probably not. It isn't very relevant to the analysis, while the stronger Draco would be nice the meta game has changed in other ways which make Latios less viable.
