[OVERVIEW]
Thundurus-T is a unique Pokemon in the OU metagame, blessed with access to two exceptional boosting moves in Nasty Plot and Agility. These moves, complemented by Thundurus-T's massive Special Attack stat, allow it to blow through a variety of teams with little effort. Thundurus-T also has decent typing for an offensive sweeper, resisting two forms of priority in Brave Bird and Bullet Punch, as well as having an immunity to Ground-type attacks. Volt Absorb allows it to switch into Electric-type attacks from Pokemon such as Magnezone, Rotom-W, and opposing Thundurus and regain some of its health in the process. Residing in a decent Speed tier, Thundurus-T outspeeds opposing base 100 Speed Pokemon such as Charizard, Manaphy, Mega Gardevoir, and Jirachi without having to resort to using Agility beforehand.

Unfortunately, Thundurus-T is highly vulnerable to residual damage, especially Life Orb recoil and Stealth Rock, with no reliable recovery outside of Volt Absorb and possibly Leftovers. Thundurus-T also has subpar bulk, struggling to take even powerful resisted hits, such as Choice Specs Keldeo's Secret Sword, meaning every attempt to switch it in is a gamble.

Moves
========

Agility boosts Thundurus-T's Speed stat by two stages, allowing it to outspeed the entire metagame, including common Choice Scarf users. Thunderbolt is Thundurus-T's most reliable STAB move, dealing heavy damage to most Pokemon that don't resist it, thanks to its high Special Attack. Focus Blast is used for super effective coverage against bulky Steel-type Pokemon that take little damage from Thunderbolt, such as Ferrothorn and Heatran, as well as Tyranitar. Hidden Power Ice hits bulky Ground-type Pokemon that are immune to Thundurus-T's main STAB move, such as Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Hippowdon. Hidden Power Flying is another option that not only is a reliable secondary STAB move but also can also hit bulky Grass-type Pokemon such as Celebi, Mega Venusaur, and Chesnaught harder than Hidden Power Ice. Grass Knot can be used to hit Seismitoad, Gastrodon, Quagsire, and Hippowdon harder than Hidden Power Ice, but it misses out on hitting Garchomp and Gliscor.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment into Special Attack allows Thundurus-T to hit as hard as possible, and complemented by a Modest nature, this gives Thundurus-T the ability to break down even the sturdiest of walls. However, a Timid nature with maximum Speed investment allows Thundurus-T to outspeed base 100 Speed Pokemon such as Charizard, Manaphy, and Jirachi before an Agility boost, although this option is generally inferior to a Modest nature because, thanks to Agility's Speed boost, these situations will rarely come into play in the first place and a Modest nature allows Thundurus-T to wallbreak more easily. Leftovers gives Thundurus-T passive recovery and can mitigate residual damage to a certain degree. Conversely, while Life Orb gives Thundurus-T slight recoil for each damaging attack, the extra power allows it to KO Kyurem-B with Focus Blast and specially defensive Gliscor with Hidden Power Ice after Stealth Rock.

Usage Tips
========

Thundurus-T works as an excellent late-game cleaner thanks to its good coverage and power, being able to easily get to +2 on Pokemon such as Magnezone, specially defensive Talonflame, and Skarmory. This being stated, Thundurus-T appreciates its checks and counters, such as Seismitoad, Gastrodon, and Mega Venusaur, weakened before attempting to sweep, as Thundurus-T will rarely get a second opportunity to sweep due to its frailty. Use Volt Absorb to its advantage, allowing Thundurus-T to switch into attacks such as Choice Specs Raikou's Thunderbolt and regain a small amount of health. If the opponent has a Ground-type Pokemon such as Hippowdon or Garchomp, be aware that they can freely switch into Thundurus-T's main STAB move.

Team Options
========

A Defogger or a spinner is a necessity to keep Thundurus-T healthy, as Stealth Rock deals a nasty 25% each time Thundurus-T switches in, drastically cutting its longevity. Excadrill not only clears Stealth Rock but also can pressure Assault Vest Raikou and loves having Thundurus-T's coverage to beat bulky Water-types, as well as Landorus-T and Garchomp if running Hidden Power Ice. Latios and Latias can clear away entry hazards, while Latias offers Thundurus-T a second chance at sweeping with Healing Wish. Powerful Fighting-type Pokemon such as Keldeo and Conkeldurr can handle Chansey, which threatens Thundurus-T without Focus Blast, easily forcing it out. Partners that can pressure bulky Ground-type Pokemon, such as Serperior and Keldeo, can help Thundurus-T break through the opponent's team. To take advantage of opposing Latios and Latias, Pokemon such as Tyranitar and Bisharp can Pursuit trap them, severely damaging them or outright KOing them. Talonflame is able to handle Mega Venusaur thanks to its high-powered Flying-type STAB moves, while Thundurus-T can absorb Electric-type attacks aimed at Talonflame. Klefki can easily switch into Weavile while also providing Spikes support, giving Thundurus-T an easier time when attempting to sweep.

Moves
========

Agility gives Thundurus-T the ability to outspeed entire offensive teams, dealing fair damage without needing the +2 Special Attack. Conversely, Nasty Plot allows it to easily plow through the majority of defensive teams, because it has the Speed stat to outspeed most defensive Pokemon. Thunderbolt is Thundurus-T's most reliable STAB move, dealing heavy damage to targets that don't resist it. Hidden Power Ice allows Thundurus-T to hit bulky Ground- and Dragon-type Pokemon such as Hippowdon, Landorus-T, and Garchomp. Focus Blast is an option over Hidden Power Ice, but it is generally an inferior choice due to its lower accuracy, fewer PP, and worse coverage, because Thundurus-T can no longer hit Pokemon such as Gliscor for respectable damage.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment gives Thundurus-T as much power as possible behind its special attacks, and with a Modest nature, Thundurus-T gains even more wallbreaking power, even 2HKOing Chansey at +2 with Focus Blast after Stealth Rock damage. However, running a Timid nature allows Thundurus-T to outspeed base 100 Speed Pokemon before using Agility; nevertheless, Modest is generally the preferred nature, due to Agility raising Thundurus-T's Speed anyway. Leftovers is used for passive recovery, as well as slightly mitigating Stealth Rock damage, but a Lum Berry can be used to cure Toxic and burn, helping cure residual damage from status.

Usage Tips
========

Keep in mind that Thundurus-T generally will not need both a Special Attack and Speed boost to be efficient. Nasty Plot is the more useful boost against bulkier teams, while, thanks to Thundurus-T's fantastic Special Attack stat, Agility is more useful for breaking apart weakened offensive teams. Thundurus-T can use its ability to switch in to Pokemon Choice-locked into an Electric-type move, such as Magnezone and Raikou, giving it more opportunities to set up freely while also having the chance to recover a small amount of HP, slightly negating residual damage.

Team Options
========

Thundurus-T needs entry hazard removal to keep it healthy, as Stealth Rock deals 25% damage upon each switch in, cutting its health quickly. Excadrill can clear Stealth Rock with Rapid Spin, as well as pressuring Raikou, while Starmie can also clear Stealth Rock and beats Heatran. Fighting-type Pokemon such as Gallade, Keldeo, and Terrakion can deal with Chansey, Ferrothorn, and Heatran if Thundurus-T is not running Focus Blast. Mega Sceptile, Serperior, and Gyarados can help deal with bulky Ground-type Pokemon that would otherwise give this set trouble without Hidden Power Ice. Thanks to Arena Trap, Dugtrio can trap Tyranitar and Heatran, which otherwise wall Thundurus-T lacking Focus Blast. Pursuit trappers such as Bisharp and Tyranitar can easily remove Latias and Latios, making it easier for Thundurus-T to sweep. Klefki offers Spikes support, damaging Thundurus-T's checks when they switch in, giving it an easier time when attempting a sweep.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========

Thundurus-T has the option to run a Choice Scarf or Choice Specs set with Volt Switch, although it's generally inferior to both the Agility and Double Dance sets, as Pokemon such as Raikou can arguably do the job better. Expert Belt is an option to hit harder with super effective attacks without having to take Life Orb recoil; however, Thundurus-T loses power on non-super effective attacks. Thundurus-T can effectively use Knock Off to cripple Latias, Latios, and Chansey, as, usually, only Thundurus carries this. A Yache Berry can be used for a one-time neutrality to Ice-type attacks, helping it survive a possible Ice Shard or Hidden Power Ice.

Checks and Counters
========

**Ground-types**: Ground-type Pokemon such as Hippowdon, Gastrodon, Quagsire, Seismitoad, and Garchomp give Thundurus-T a hard time, especially if it's not carrying Hidden Power Ice or Grass Knot, thanks to their immunity to its main STAB move. They can also wear down Thundurus-T using Toxic or Sandstorm.

**Chansey**: Chansey is a hard stop to sets that don't use both Nasty Plot and Focus Blast. It is able to wear Thundurus-T down with Toxic and Seismic Toss while being able to recover any lost health with Soft-Boiled.

**Latios and Latias**: Latios and Latias can take Thundurus-T's STAB moves and most coverage moves well thanks to their decent natural bulk, outspeed it before an Agility, and OHKO it in return with Draco Meteor. They must remain wary of the rare Knock Off, however.

**Revenge Killers**: Revenge killers such as Mamoswine, Mega Manectric, and Sucker Punch abusers such as Bisharp can come in after a teammate has been sacrificed and force Thundurus-T out.

**Residual Damage**: Residual damage from things such as burn, Toxic, Stealth Rock, Sandstorm, and Life Orb leaves Thundurus-T vulnerable to priority moves or revenge killing and can drastically reduce its time on the field, thanks to its lack of reliable recovery.

**Bulky Attackers**: Bulky attackers such as Assault Vest Conkeldurr, Assault Vest Goodra, Assault Vest Tangrowth, and Mega Venusaur can beat Thundurus-T one-on-one. They can easily stomach any attack it can throw at them and respond by wearing it down or, in some cases, outright KOing it.

I know this is WIP but I'd mention Water-types in team options because they appreciate Thundy-T switching into and recovering from Electric-type attacks while they can also get rid of the Groudn-types that hinder thundurus-T. (i think this would apply to both sets idk).

Slash HP Ice OVER HP Flying on NP set imo. Mega Venu is really uncommon anyway, whilst HP Ice lets u deal with stuff like hippo and glis.

Also you shouldn't use abbreviations, like you used "hippo" instead of hippowdon in c&c.

e: mention knock off cripples chansey, mention that gk beats seismitoad, swampert, quaggy who otherwise wall thundy-t. also on your double dance set u mention u shouldn't need two boosts at once, but the set itself is named double dance which implies ur supposed to get two boosts up rofl

agree with most, but double dance is actually a set that has 2 boosting moves e.g. SD+RP. it's not meant to get both boosts, but is actually situational. Agility helps against offence while NP help against slow teams, so which boost you go for depends on the opposing team.

for agility: leftovers shouldn't even be mentioned, it's just too weak. hp flying kinda blows also; this is not a metagame with a lot of venu and ohkos on landos/gliscor + se coverage on alt/latis is just too good to pass up.

focus blast shouldn't be slashed on double dance, it's just not good coverage especially compared to tbolt hp ice. you miss out on way too much; it's not an option.

np 3 atks should be oo at best, it's only effective vs slower teams and is generally inferior to double dance.

Uh i don't agree with you, Thundurus-T clearly doesn't need LO to be strong, i mean it hits 427 SPA since Agility always runs Modest, Tbolt 2HKO Physical defensive Clefable/Scizor/Sableye and focus blast 2HKO spe def tran, thats all that he need to make a solid sweep, plus leftovers provide staying power which is always good especially if your opponent is playing priority move like Fake out/ Extrem speed. Agility Thundurus used to be very good and player such as Living So Zambian or me can confirm it and we are both using Leftovers instead of Life Orb which is working perfectly.

Don't see much to talk about here, just slash Expert Belt on Other Options after you mention scarf / specs. Also, yache is definetly worth using on it's set up set, so it deserves a mention on OO just as well. QC 1/3 n_n

Yeah I'd like to chime in that I agree with Leftiez. If you are running the agility set then the main goal is to pull off a sweep against a frailer team, which it does really well. Life Orb is good on NP/Agility when you actually use it to break defensive cores, but I think the Agility's main goal and selling point is almost always an endgame sweep vs a frailer team, so Leftovers/Expert Belt is fine because you don't want your sweep compromised due to recoil, and you often have the coverage to OHKO most non-bulky Pokemon anyways.

Does Psychic deserves OO? Deals with Mega Venu and Amoonguss without needing to drop ivs with hp flying, but probably just a small mention?
Also doesn't agility run modest? u could say use modest with lefties and use timid with LO idk

  • Faces competition with Lando-I as a sweeper and wallbreaker. Landorus has more power due to the Sheer Force + Life Orb combo. However, Thundurus-T isn't as impacted by priority like Bullet Punch and Brave Bird.
They handle different stuff better or worse so this isn't exactly true as opposed to just stating it's kind of frail for a set up sweeper.

Checks and counters just need to be beefed up because it's extremely bare right now since some of these are really based on circumstances like Ttar where you say it beats non Focus Blast variants but the first set on the analysis has Focus Blast as a mandatory slash.

Lum Berry in set details on Double Dance set. Agility set should have Modest as the nature, Timid can be in set details for outspeeding certain threats before Agility.

I feel like running Timid on the Double Dance and Nasty Plot sets isn't as important as it used to be. Very few base 100s actually run max Speed and positive natures anymore, while the additional power is always appreciated whilst wallbreaking. For example, on the Nasty Plot set, you're able to 2HKO Chansey at +2 and with Rocks, even without Life Orb. I'd reckon it's worth at least a second slash.

Mention in OO that Knock Off cripples Chansey, not only Latios.

also gp is obviously affecting me because knock off doesn't lure latios, thundurus does

Ye, sorry my fren. I got a little bit distracted with a few recent events but I'm hoping I got everything updated, probably missed something somewhere. Added all of Alfalfa's team options (Just copy-pasted it, pretty simple), added Yache to OO, and buffed up C&C. Sorry for the delay.
Quick! Count how many times I misspelled Therian! xd

Sure thing, I'll get rid of Nasty Plot and get the rest of it, thanks fren. I'll write this when exams are over next week @_@

Alright, i talked with team and we agreed on the fact that nasty plot Thundy is kinda useless and no one user it, so you should remove it. However you can keep Double Dance which is still a good set and can allow Thundurus to break both Offense and Stall.

Recreant said:
Teammates that deal with Ground types with Gliscor and Hippowdon, bulky Waters and Grass types help here. Teammates like Keldeo ans Serperior are ideal in this roles as they pressure Hippo and Gliscor rather easily. Celebi sets up on Hippowdon and AV Raikou, Baton Passes a Nasty Plot boost / Substitute to Thundurus-T
Remove Gliscor, it definitly can't check Thundurus-T as Hidden Power Ice can deal heavy damage, then gliscor can't really answer back outside of knock off which is still poor. You can still suggest Gastrodon and Seismitoad which are its most reliable checks if not running Grass Knot. I don't agree with Celebi here, he doesnt have really good synergy with thundurus outside of that assuming Raikou is forced to HP ice which hurts Celebi too, they are both weak to ice and celebi will bait fire / dark / ghost types while Thundurus can't even deal with that.

Recreant said:
Focus Blast can be used if Ferrothorn and Tyranitar are more of an issue than Ground types. Overall inferior option due to lower accuracy and PP
And Coverage as you can't hit Ground and Dragon with efficency.

You should mention pursuiter for Lati@s as teammate in double dance set they are still pain for this set and remove Celebi as well.
Also make sure you add Gastrodon, Quagsir and Seismitoad as Check as they are pretty solid against Thundurus's most common moves. Same for Tangrowth AV.

2/3 after all that

Get rid of the HP Flying slash on Agility and keep it in moves. Take Grass Knot out of OO and put it in moves on Agility. Make Timid nature slashed after Modest, because it's really nice hitting max Speed Manaphy before a boost. Team options should have partners that can eliminate Mega Venusaur. Lati@s are pretty good because they provide Defog support, while Latias can give Thundurus-T a second shot at sweeping with Healing Wish. Talonflame is a good partner because it threatens Mega Venusaur with its Flying-type STAB, while Thundurus-T absorbs Electric-type moves aimed at Talonflame.

On Double Dance, remove the Focus Blast slash. Giving up Ice coverage is really hard considering you miss out on Landorus-T, Hippowdon, and Garchomp otherwise. Also add mons that get past Mega Venusaur in team options. Klefki should get a mention in team options on both sets, as Spikes lets Thundurus-T have a much easier time sweeping teams.

Checks & Counters needs a little bit of work too, as most of the descriptions for each are vague, so make sure to go a bit more in depth on what the Pokemon listed do against Thundurus-T (i.e. Chansey wears down Thundurus-T with Toxic and heals off any lost HP with Softboiled).

**Chansey**: Chansey is a hard stop to sets that don't use both Nasty Plot and Focus Blast. It is able to wear Thundurus-T down with Toxic and Seismic Toss while being able to recover any lost health with Soft-Boiled. (add hyphen)

**Latios and Latias**: Latios and Latias can take Thundurus-T's STAB moves and most coverage moves well thanks to their decent natural bulk, outspeed without it before an Agility, and OHKO Thundurus-T it in return with Draco Meteor. They must remain wary of the rare Knock Off, however.

**Revenge Killers**: Revenge killers such as Mamoswine (Ice Shard), Mega Manectric, (AC) and Pokemon Sucker Punch users such as Bisharp who can abuse Sucker Punch can come in after something is sacked off to and force Thundurus-T out.

**Residual damage**: Residual damage from things such as burn, Toxic, Stealth Rock, Sandstorm, and Life Orb recoil leave Thundurus-T vulnerable to priority moves or revenge killing and can drastically reduce its time on the field, thanks to its lack of reliable recovery.

**Bulky Attackers**: Bulky attackers such as Assault Vest Conkeldurr, Assault Vest Goodra, Assault Vest Tangrowth, and Mega Venusaur (RC) can easily beat Thundurus-T one-on-one. They can easily stomach any attack it can throw at them and respond by wearing it down or, in some cases, outright KOing it.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Access to two great boosting moves in Nasty Plot and Agility
  • Decent typing, resists some common forms of priority including Brave Bird and Bullet Punch
  • Volt Absorb allows for some easy switch-ins, allows it to kill Volt Switch momentum
  • Stealth Rock weak with no recovery outside of Volt Absorb
  • Huge Special Attack stat, allows it to run Leftovers in most cases. That can lead to more long term stability
  • Decent speed tier, outspeeds the base 100 speed tier when unboosted
  • Good overall coverage and damage output
  • Thundurus-T isn't as impacted by priority like Bullet Punch and Brave Bird.
  • Somewhat frail

ability: Volt Absorb
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
nature: Modest

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Thunderbolt is the primary STAB and hits a lot of targets hard neutrally
  • Agility allows it to outspeed virtually the entire metagame
  • Focus Blast hits Steels like Ferrothorn and Heatran, as well as Tyranitar for SE damage
  • Hidden Power Ice hits Gliscor and Landorus-T, as well as accurately hitting other Ground types like Hippo (Focus Blast hits for the same but has less accuracy)
  • Hidden Power Flying is an alternative to damage Grass types, especially Mega Venusaur. Good reliable secondary STAB

Set Details
========
  • Max Special Attack allows it to hit as hard as possible
  • Leftovers allows for passive recovery, can mitigate SR weakness to a degree
  • Life Orb can be used for more power on its attacks and can KO Kyuren-B with Focus Blast and Specially Defensive Gliscor with Hidden Power Ice.
  • A Modest nature allows it to wallbreak as easy as possible, and after an Agility it outspeeds most of the meta
  • Max speed Timid allows it to outspeed base 100s before boosting, outspeeds virtually the entire metagame at +2

Usage Tips
========
  • Cleans lategame at +2 due to good coverage, power and speed
  • Can use Volt Absorb to switch in more easily
  • Be aware that Ground types can take advantage of Thunderbolt
  • Works best if saved until later in the game as a cleaner, when its checks have been worn down by teammates

Team Options
========
  • Hazard removal is essential to keep Thundy-T healthy
  • Strong Fighting types to hurt Chansey help, because this set can't boost its Special Attack to break it. Examples include Keldeo and Conkeldurr, as they both take advantage of Chansey and force it out.
  • Teammates that deal with Ground types such as Gastrodon, Seismitoad and Hippowdon, bulky Waters and Grass types help here. Teammates like Keldeo ans Serperior are ideal in this roles as they pressure Hippo and Gliscor rather easily.
  • Pursuit support from Tyranitar and Bisharp is helpful for dealing with the Lati@s twins.
  • Excadrill can not only clear hazards but can put pressure Assault Vest Raikou and appreciates Thundurus-T pressuring bulky waters and Grasses (if running HP Flying) or Landorus-T / Garchomp (HP Ice)

Moves
========
  • Agility allows it to outspeed offensive teams, has enough power to deal good damage unboosted
  • Nasty Plot allows it to pressure defensive teams, has the speed to beat most common defensive mons
  • Thunderbolt allows for solid STAB damage and good neutral coverage
  • Hidden Power Ice hits Ground and Dragon types hard, allows for a pseudo BoltBeam combo
  • Focus Blast can be used if Ferrothorn and Tyranitar are more of an issue than Ground types. Overall inferior option due to lower accuracy and PP, not to mention it has worse coverage, as without HP Ice, you cannot hit Pokemon such as Gliscor, Hippodown and Garchomp.

Set Details
========
  • Max Special Attack allows it to hit as hard as possible regardless of which boost it ends up using
  • Leftovers allows for passive recovery
  • Lum Berry is an option to heal Burns and Toxic
  • Max speed Timid allows it to outspeed base 100s before boosting, outspeeds virtually everything at +2
  • A Modest nature means at +2 you will be able to 2HKO Chansey after Stealth Rock damage

Usage Tips
========
  • Nasty Plot against slower defensive teams for maximum damage output
  • Agility should be used against more offensive teams, as it can clean efficiently even with the reduced coverage
  • Should rarely have/need both boosts at the same time

Team Options
========
  • Hazard removal to keep it healthy, even with Leftovers and potential Volt Absorb recovery it doesn't like hazard damage
  • Fighting types help to hit Chansey, Ferrothorn, and Heatran if not using Focus Blast. Those mons all stack up well enough against the BoltBeam coverage. Keldeo, Terrakion, and Gallade work well in this regard.
  • If not carrying HP Ice, bulky Waters and Grass types help deal with Ground types who otherwise hard check this set. Keldeo, Gyarados, and Mega Sceptile work well in this regard.
  • Starmie handles Heatran and can remove hazards with Rapid Spin
  • Dugtrio can trap beat Tyranitar and Heatran 1 on 1
  • Mega Metagross and Thundurus-Therain can beat each others defensive checks.
  • Pursuit trappers such as Bisharp and Tyranitar can handle Latias and Latios, which this set has a difficult time with

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
########
  • Scarf / Specs with Volt Switch over a boosting move is an option, but that's less unique to Thundurus (for example, Raikou can do a similar job arguably better)
  • Expert Belt is an option to hit stronger with Super Effective hits while not taking Life Orb damage
  • Grass Knot can be used, but is usually a lesser option compared to HP Ice as far as relevant targets go
  • Knock Off can lure and cripple Lati@s / Chansey. Some surprise factor here ad Thundy-I typically uses Knock Off more often.
  • Yache Berry for a one time neutrality to Ice-type attacks

Checks & Counters
########

**Ground-type Pokemon**: Ground-type Pokémon such as Hippowdon, Gastrodon, Quagsire, Seismitoad and Garchomp give it a hard time, being immune to its main STAB attack, especially if not carrying Hidden Power Ice or Grass Knot.

**Chansey**: Chansey is a hard stop to sets that don't use both Nasty Plot and Focus Blast, taking every other attack Thundurus-T can throw at it.

**Latios and Latias**: Latios and Latias can take Thundurus-Therian's STABs and most coverage moves well, outspeed without an Agility, and OHKO Thundurus-T in return with Draco Meteor.

**Revenge Killers**: Revenge killers such as Mamoswine (Ice Shard), Mega Manectric and Pokemon such as Bisharp who can abuse Sucker Punch can come in after something is sacked off to force Thundurus-Therian out.

**Residual damage**: Residual damage from things such as Stealth Rock and Life Orb recoil leave Thundurus-Therian vulnerable to priority or revenge killing.

**Bulky Attackers**: Bulky attackers such as Assault Vest Conkeldurr, Assault Vest Goodra, Assault Vest Tangrowth and Mega Venusaur can easily beat Thundurus-Therian one on one.

Moves
========

Hidden Power Flying is another option that is not only is a reliable secondary STAB move, (RC) but also it can also hit bulky Grass-type Pokemon such as Celebi, Mega Venusaur, and Chesnaught harder than Hidden Power Ice. Grass Knot can be used to hit Seismitoad, Gastrodon, Quagsire, and Hippowdon harder than Hidden Power Ice, but it misses out on hitting Garchomp and Gliscor.

Set Details
========

Conversely, while Life Orb gives Thundurus-T slight recoil for each damaging attack, the extra power allows it to KO Kyurem-Black with Focus Blast and specially defensive Gliscor with Hidden Power Ice after Stealth Rock.

Usage Tips
========

Thundurus-T works as an excellent late-game cleaner thanks to its good coverage and power, being able to easily get to +2 on Pokemon such as Magnezone, specially defensive Talonflame, (AC) and Skarmory. This being stated, Thundurus-T appreciates its checks and counters, such as Seismitoad, Gastrodon, (AC) and Mega Venusaur, weakened before attempting to sweep, as Thundurus-T will rarely get a second opportunity to sweep due to its frailty. Use Volt Absorb to its advantages, allowing Thundurus-T to switch into attacks such as Choice Specs Raikou's Thunderbolt and regain a small amount of health. If the opponent has a Ground-type Pokemon such as Hippowdon or Garchomp, be aware that they can freely switch into Thundurus-T's main STAB move.

Team Options
========

A Defogger or a Rapid Sspinner is a necessity to keep Thundurus-T healthy, as Stealth Rock deals a nasty 25% each time Thundurus-T switches in, drastically cutting its longevity. Excadrill not only clears Stealth Rock, (RC) but also it can also pressure Assault Vest Raikou and loves having Thundurus-T's coverage to beat bulky Water-types, as well as Landorus-T and Garchomp if running Hidden Power Ice. Partners that can pressure bulky Ground-type Pokemon, (AC) such as Serperior and Keldeo, (AC) can help Thundurus-T break through the opponent's team.

Moves
========

Hidden Power Ice allows Thundurus-T to hit bulky Ground- and Dragon-type Pokemon such as Hippowdon, Landorus-T, and Garchomp and Landorus-T. Focus Blast is an option over Hidden Power Ice, but it is generally an inferior choice due to its lower accuracy, fewer PP, and worse coverage, because Thundurus-T can no longer hit Pokemon such as Gliscor for respectable damage.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Keep in mind that Thundurus-T generally will not need both a Special Attack and a Speed boost to be efficient. Nasty Plot is the more useful boost against bulkier teams, while, thanks to Thundurus-T's fantastic Special Attack stat, Agility is more useful for breaking apart weakened offensive teams. Thundurus-T can use its ability to switch in to Pokemon Choice-locked into an Electric-type move, Magnezone and Raikou, (are these examples? stick a "such as" before "Magnezone" then. otherwise, serial comma after "Magnezone") giving it more opportunities to set up freely while also having the chance to recover a small amount of HP, slightly negating residual damage.

Team Options
========

Thanks to Arena Trap, Dugtrio can trap Tyranitar and Heatran thanks to Arena Trap, who which otherwise wall Thundurus-T lacking Focus Blast.

========

Thundurus-T can effectively use Knock Off to cripple Latias, Latios, (AC) and Chansey, as, usually, only Thundurus carries this. A Yache Berry can be used for a one-time neutrality to Ice-type attacks, helping it survive a possible Ice Shard or Hidden Power Ice.

Checks and Counters
========

**Ground-types**: Ground-type Pokemon such as Hippowdon, Gastrodon, Quagsire, Seismitoad, (AC) and Garchomp give Thundurus-T a hard time, especially if it's not carrying Hidden Power Ice or Grass Knot, thanks to their immunity to its main STAB move.

**Revenge Killers**: Revenge killers such as Mamoswine, Mega Manectric, (AC) and Sucker Punch abusers such as Bisharp can come in after a teammate has been sacrificed something is sacked off and force Thundurus-T out.
