RU Braviary

QC Checks: galbia, 49, Arikado
GP Checks: Psywaves, P Squared
Status: Done

Overview
########

With its good Attack and solid coverage against the RU metagame, Braviary is one of the strongest physical Flying-types in RU. Its wide movepool, consisting of moves such as Brave Bird, Superpower, Roost, and Bulk Up, along with its decent bulk allows it to run several sets effectively, such as All-out Attacker sets and Substitute + Bulk UP. Defiant also allows it to take advantage of Defog and Intimidate, making it a good choice for Sticky Web and other entry hazard-reliant teams. However, Braviary has lackluster Speed, causing it to get outsped by most offensive Pokemon. It also has trouble handling prominent Rock- and Steel-types such as Rhyperior, Steelix, and Doublade.

Physical Attacker
########
name: Physical Attacker
move 1: Brave Bird
move 2: Return
move 3: Superpower
move 4: U-turn / Roost
ability: Defiant
item: Choice Band / Life Orb
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

Brave Bird is Braviary's most reliable STAB move, having good coverage on the RU metagame. Return is a solid secondary STAB move that covers Electric-types and can be used when you can't afford to take recoil from Brave Bird. Superpower is a decent coverage move for Rock- and Steel-types. It doesn't do much damage to most Rock- and Steel-types outside of Kabutops and Aurorus, but it still helps wear them down. U-turn is great for grabbing momentum as well as bringing in frail sweepers safely. It also helps Braviary wear down and switch out of checks such as Steelix and Rhyperior. Roost is a decent option if you opt for Life Orb, as it heals off damage taken from Brave Bird, Life Orb, Stealth Rock, and weaker attacks. However, Braviary won't get many opportunities to heal up in a heated match. Shadow Claw hits Bronzong and Doublade harder than any other move on this set; however, it's usually better to U-turn out and let Braviary's teammates deal with Doublade.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in Attack and Speed allows Braviary to hit as hard and fast as possible. An Adamant nature gives it the power needed to break down walls. Choice Band has no recoil and almost guarantees a 2HKO on Alomomola after Stealth Rock damage. However, Life Orb allows Braviary to switch moves while still getting KOs on less defensive Pokemon; it is also the better option if you are using Braviary on a Sticky Web team.

Usage Tips
========

This set is used to break down walls and balanced teams. It is best to remove Stealth Rock from the field before sending in Braviary. U-turn should be used to wear down Braviary's checks and gain momentum. Superpower should only be used on predicted switches and weakened Rock- and Steel-types. Once all Pokemon that resist Flying on the opposing team are gone, feel free to spam Brave Bird.

Team Options
========

Dugtrio makes for an excellent partner, as Braviary can U-turn into Dugtrio on the switch and trap Braviary's checks, such as Registeel and Cobalion. Sticky Web support from Kricketune is very useful, mitigating Braviary's lackluster Speed and opening up sweeping possibilities against more offensive teams. In return, Braviary can deter Defoggers with Defiant. Entry hazard users such as Mesprit, Qwilfish, Omastar, and Crustle also partner well with Braviary. Stealth Rock and Spikes, along with U-turn, can really rack up damage on Braviary's counters. Spinners and Defoggers can remove Stealth Rock for Braviary. Hitmonlee and Hitmontop are good examples, as they can take care of most of Braviary's counters. Togetic can also remove entry hazards while providing cleric support. Other Flying-types such as Fletchinder and Swellow can weaken counters for Braviary to sweep, or vice versa. Grass-types such as offensive Tangrowth and defensive Rotom-C handle Rhyperior and Steelix well. Torterra is a more niche option, but it works well against Doublade. Meloetta and Exploud can lure in checks such as Rhyperior and Registeel and weaken or KO them with their respective coverage moves. Pokemon such as Meloetta, Heliolisk, Jolteon, Cobalion, and Rotom-C can bring Braviary in safely with U-turn or Volt Switch; they also make a great VoltTurn core with Braviary. Finally, Seismitoad can switch into most of Braviary's checks thanks to its great bulk and proceed to burn or KO them.

Substitute + Bulk Up
########
name: Substitute + Bulk Up
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Bulk Up
move 3: Roost
move 4: Brave Bird
ability: Defiant
item: Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 212 SpD / 44 Spe
nature: Careful

Moves
========

Substitute protects Braviary from status and eases prediction. Bulk Up boosts Attack and Defense, making Braviary harder to break while preparing it for a sweep. Roost is reliable, mandatory recovery, healing off damage taken from Substitute, Brave Bird, and opposing attacks. Brave Bird is a strong, reliable STAB move with good coverage in the metagame; also, no Pokemon is immune to it, unlike Return.

Set Details
========

Leftovers lets Braviary recover a bit of health every turn and makes up for the HP lost from making Substitutes. Maximum HP investment is used so that Registeel can't break Braviary's Substitute with Seismic Toss. 44 Speed EVs let Braviary outspeed and set up on Cresselia. The remaining EVs go in Special Defense alongside a Careful nature, allowing Braviary to set up on weaker special attackers such as Amoonguss, Aromatisse, and Seismitoad. Special Defense is invested in instead of Defense because Bulk Up already patches up Braviary's Defense. Running 160 Speed EVs is an option if you want to get the jump on Exploud.

Usage Tips
========

Watch out for phazers such as Rhyperior and Steelix. Try to keep Braviary away from sound moves from Pokemon such as Exploud, Meloetta, and Aurorus. It's a good idea to remove Stealth Rock before attempting a sweep. Try not to directly switch into defensive Pokemon carrying status moves, such as Cresselia and Registeel. Rock-, Electric-, and Ice-types, as well as phazers, should be gone or severely weakened before attempting a sweep.

Team Options
========

Clerics such as Audino and Aromatisse make for great partners, as they can give Braviary a second chance to sweep if it gets statused. Toxic Spikes support from Pokemon such as Qwilfish and Omastar is great, as it helps weaken Pokemon in preparation for a sweep and allows Braviary to stall out the opponent's team with the combination of Substitute and Roost. Rapid Spin and Defog support from Pokemon such as Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, and Togetic is great to have, as Braviary doesn't appreciate Stealth Rock. Rhyperior checks most Rock- and Electric-types, scares away most defensive Steel-types with STAB Earthquake, and can set up Stealth Rock for the team. Meloetta and Exploud can weaken or KO most Rock- and Steel-types with their coverage moves. Seismitoad makes for a great partner thanks to its ability to burn or KO most of Braviary's checks. Finally, Grass-types such as Rotom-C and offensive Tangrowth can take care of Rhyperior and Steelix.

Choice Scarf
########
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Brave Bird
move 2: Return
move 3: Superpower
move 4: U-turn
ability: Defiant
item: Choice Scarf
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Jolly

Moves
========

Brave Bird is Braviary's strongest STAB move and has good coverage on the metagame. Return is a reliable secondary STAB move that covers Electric-types and doesn't make Braviary take recoil damage, unlike Brave Bird. Superpower helps weaken Rock- and Steel-types. U-turn wears down checks and helps gain momentum.

Set Details
========

The EVs are self-explanatory. Choice Scarf turns Braviary into a good revenge killer and gives it a much-needed Speed boost. A Jolly nature allows it to outspeed and revenge kill Jolteon.

Usage Tips
========

This set is used to revenge kill weakened Pokemon as well as frailer offensive Pokemon. This set can also sweep the opponent's team late-game. Try to keep Stealth Rock off the field during the match, as it can hinder Braviary greatly. Use U-turn to gain momentum and wear down Braviary's checks. Don't attempt to revenge kill healthy Pokemon, as Braviary isn't very strong without a boost and thus won't be able to KO sometimes. Try not to switch into Scald if possible; however, you can play recklessly with Braviary if you have a cleric.

Team Options
========

Entry hazard support from Pokemon such as Mesprit, Qwilfish, Omastar, and Crustle is especially important for this set, as it helps get crucial residual damage that can mean the difference between an OHKO and a 2HKO. Bulky Fighting-, Water-, and Ground-types can take on most of Braviary's checks. Examples include Hitmontop and Alomomola, the latter of which can also provide Wish support, and Seismitoad, which is also a great check to most Rock- and Steel-types, switching in with little to fear and threatening to burn or KO. Grass-type Pokemon such as defensive Rotom-C and offensive Tangrowth can take care of Rhyperior and Steelix. Wallbreakers such as Meloetta, Emboar, and Exploud can weaken Braviary's checks to pave the way for a late-game sweep. Rapid Spin or Defog support is appreciated to remove Stealth Rock from the field. Examples of Pokemon that can provide this support include Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, and Togetic.

Other Options
########

Defog is a great support option, but Braviary just can't find a place for it on one of its sets. An offensive SubRoost set is somewhat viable, allowing it to PP stall and heal itself while maintaining offensive pressure. Toxic allows Braviary to cripple and wear down defensive Pokemon such as Rhyperior and Alomomola. Finally, a mixed set with Sheer Force and Heat Wave has a chance of 2HKOing Doublade, but otherwise, it is outclassed by Braviary's other sets.

Checks & Counters
########

**Doublade**: Braviary can't do anything to Doublade outside of using Shadow Claw, which still does little damage. In return, Doublade can threaten with set up and easily defeat Braviary, especially if it's using Sacred Sword.

**Rock- and Steel-types**: Rock- and Steel-types such as Rhyperior, Tyrantrum, Steelix, Registeel, and Bronzong can take most hits from Braviary and either set up Stealth Rock, status it, or hit it hard. However, the latter two are setup bait for the Substitute + Bulk Up set, and all of them should be wary of U-turn.

**Electric-types**: Jolteon and Rotom-C can outspeed and OHKO non-Choice Scarf Braviary with their respective STAB moves. Choice Scarf Rotom-C can still outspeed Choice Scarf Braviary.

**Unaware Quagsire**: Quagsire can take hits from most of Braviary's sets and retaliate with Scald or set up with Curse. However, the Choice Band set can break through it, and Quagsire only manages to PP stall the Substitute + Bulk Up set if it doesn't carry Curse.

**Infiltrator Users**: Pokemon with Infiltrator such as Golbat and Spiritomb bypass Braviary's Substitute, can inflict status on it, and don't take much damage from Brave Bird. However, they must be switched in before Braviary attains too many boosts.

I know this is WIP, but I reeerealllyy don't think that scarf Braviary should be first. It's piss poor weak and doesn't revenge kill that well (it was actually decent in the small window of mega Lopunny era) and should be listed last imo. Sub BU isn't nearly as good as it used to be since stall has a ton of ways to deal with it, most notably mega steelix. I'd personally put the set order as physical Attacker / sub bu -> sub bu / physical Attacker -> scarf
I put them slashed like that since I'm not sure as to which should be first.
I'll give some more input on this after you flesh out the skeleton, I've used Braviary quite a bit.

[Overview]
- "- Good Attack and decent Speed" remove the "decent speed" part; it contradicts with the point mentioning its mediocre speed, and it really isn't good speed anyway.
- "- Works well on Normal Spam and BirdSpam teams" Remove this. It doesn't really say anything, especially because afaik there is no such thing as normal spam or bird spam. the latter was a term coined in OU a while ago but it's not relevant enough in RU.
- mention Defiant also abusing Intimidate along with defog
- emphasize on the fact that rhyperior and especially steelix being everywhere, along with doublade, REEEEALLY hurts its viability. steelix alone made this a lot worse than it used to be.

[Physical Attacker]
There's a random mention of Gligar in set details.. Gligar has been UU for like a month or two now lol.

I'm personally unsure of whether mentioning switching into defog in usage tips or not, but I guess it could be worth it.. it's just that all defoggers have a way of hurting Braviary. Golbat has Toxic/Brave Bird, Togetic has t-wave, Shiftry kills with knock off + sucker punch, skuntank has sucker punch and aftermath's a bitch, etc...

"- Dugtrio makes an excellent partner, as Braviary can U-Turn into Dugtrio on the switch and trap one of Braviary's counters, such as Rhyperior and Doublade"
Dugtrio isn't a bad partner, but you have it for the wrong reasons. It can't trap Doublade because it's ghost-type (Arena Trap fails to trap ghosts), and Rhyperior can easily eat an Earthquake and kill Dugtrio back if it's not within EQ's kill range (which does 42.2 - 50.3% assuming LO). Instead, list Cobalion (which still needs to be weakened) and Registeel.

"- Bulky Water-types can threaten Rhyoerior and Doublade with a burn or a super effective hit"
Bulky waters in the tiers are Alomomola, Slowking, and Jellicent. The latter two can't switch into Doublade, and Alomomola 100% relies on burns otherwise she loses... probably not worth mentioning as partners that beat those two Pokemon.

Mention other VoltTurners in team options; Meloetta, Heliolisk, Jolteon, Rotom-C, Cobalion (I guess..).

Also mention that if using Shadow Claw, then it makes for a great lure for Doublade, making pokemon like SD Cobalion and Virizion have an easier time with a weakened Doublade.

[SubBU]
Also random mention of Gligar in usage tips as well as set details.

"- Rock- and Electric-types should be gone / severely weakened before attempting a sweep"
Add Mega Steelix to that point.

"- Try to bring Braviary in with U-Turn / Volt Switch or a double switch"
Eh, not really. actually, that's probably a point that belongs to the physical attacker set and not this one.

[OO]
Along with the Sheer Force + Heat Wave mention, also note that it can run a sheer force set with rock slide and crush claw, but it's not really worth it because Rock Slide is redundant coverage for the most part and the difference in power between Crush Claw and Brave Bird / Return is minimal.

Geez that's a lot mistakes :P

I fixed it up accordingly, anything else Arikado?

Seismitoad is a good partner, especially for subbu, please add it

Also in team options you mention stuff such as tspikes and rapid spin/defog without mentioning any partner which is a key part of the section. Also examples should be all over the place in an analysis imo regardless so after every time you say "electric-types remember to add " such as x,y". General thought

Drapion is another one that makes for a good partner because it can lure and heavily weaken or kill rhyperior with Aqua Tail and chunk away Mega Steelix.

Also I don't agree that Braviary is made less viable by steelix and rhyperior since you pretty much uturn for free on them and since Braviary has to be used with heavy hazards they will be in superpower range in the blink of an eye. I also think cb and uturn are superior for the first set for this very reason.

Shadow claw still does jack to Doublade so Braviary isn't that good of a lure lol

Steelix doesn't use gyro ball

Anyway this looks OK but I won't stamp until I'm satisfied with the changes I proposed

Made the changes. Also, taking what you said into consideration, I decided to move Shadow Claw to Moves and switch the slashes to U-Turn / Roost on the Physical Attacker set. galbia anything else?

OK you need to be more specific over all and as a rule of thumb you should add examples any time you say [insert type]-type. For example in overview rocks and steels to list are Doublade steelix and rhyperior.
First set
Mention how superpower really doesn't do that much to Rock types outside of Kabutops but helps wearing them down
Add some grass types to partners. Defensive rotom c and offensive tangrowht handle steelix and rhyperior very well and are the first coming to mind (these two should be aded in pretty much all sets). You can also mention Torterra which is more niche but handles Doublade better than the two.
Lure Meloetta in partners (for other sets too)

Subbu
Mention that brave bird has no immunities unlike return.
Mention that sdef is invested also because defense is boosted with bulk up
Mention a spread able to outrun exploud which is pretty nice instead of the Golbat one which is pointless unless Golbat has taunt>toxic
Usage tips needs quite some work for example mention to keep it distant from scald and be careful against sound moves
(Exploud, Meloetta, the weird Aurorus). You should also mention to roost very often. Add steelix to phazers.
Remove the drapion as a lure part because toxic spikes with aqua tail is weak and bad
Get another cleric instead of togetic. Audino comes to mind.
Scarf looks fine

C&C needs some work. Doublade should be added to generic steel types, you should make a section about curse mega steelix who shits on braviary very hard, add a section for unaware quagsire with curse who just wins and remove cofag who is ass. Add aurorus to rock types

Molk edit: also remove cofagrigus because it literally cant touch subBU braviary at all

Not checking yet

OK just change the toxic spikes users you mentioned to qwilfish and drapion as other users are meh (ugh molk likes weezing too so mention it). Crustle is nice for hazards for first set. Add that point about scald in subbu but add that you can afford to play recklessly if you have a cleric. You say shit in the analysis at least once so reword that lol
Remove Doublade from cc and remove the haze part and keep phasers only

yeah, this seems ayte, everyone did a good job here. spikes mention on a 'mon that actually does really well with them too, neat! you don't really have to mention sr for support, as it is /generally/ assumed support; i'd really only give mention if the sr 'mon in question provides support additional function to the team in question, which i don't think is present here. expand on the 'why' of spikes / webs for support; braviary can u-turn out of bad match-ups to generate good chip w/spikes, and webs allowing cb to make bigger pushes v.offense is cool as well. defiant serving as a defog deterrant isn't too relevant atm, but it's something to note, since it can at least induce some 50-50's from skuntank, shiftry, etc.

I elaborated more on Spikes and Sticky Web for the Physical Attacker and Choice Scarf set, but I don't think we should completely remove Stealth Rock from the analysis, as it kind of goes hand-in-hand with the other entry hazards. Also…
The analysis already has one QC check…:P

Maybe you should take a second look at the analysis. Anything else that needs to be fixed?

oh, yeah, sorry; was looking to get through a few things before driving elsewhere, so that one was kinda just something that happened out of haste haha. actually, kinda went over my head initially, but offensive subroost isn't 'outclassed' by subbu, since they're entirely different in function, and a mixed set would presumably just be for heat wave, so no need to expand upon that kinda thing w/moves of no actual weight (rock slide, crush claw). also, quagsire tends to get broken by cb, and non-curse variants only stalemate w/subbu, since it can pp stall scald whilst it pp stalls brave bird in turn

Remove the part about Togetic being a good wishpasser; generally speaking the Defog/Roost/Heal Bell/(SToss/D.Gleam) set has no place for Wish and Aromatisse is better at it (although don't include Aromatisse either; wish passers aren't exactly the best teammates for Braviary)

"Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Jolteon, Cobalion, Meloetta, and Rotom-C can bring Braviary in safely with U-Turn or Volt Switch."
Mention how they make cool VoltTurn cores and for example Braviary can U-turn out of a Doublade switch into Heliolisk or Meloetta, forcing Doublade out, and either getting a kill or gaining momentum, so that's cool.

Include Hitmontop as a spinner for all sets; it's definitely more relevant than Sandslash.

Mention Crush Claw when mentioning the Sheer Force set in OO cuz it gets a sheer force boost.

In usage tips for all sets mention how it's better if you remove Stealth Rock from the field before sending in Braviary, as taking 25% is always a bitch.

implement that and consider it qc approved 3/3 :o

Don't put crush claw please and reads quagsire with the exceptions 49 listed (broken by cb, goes to pp stall without curse) instead of removing it completely

Overview
########

With its good Attack and solid coverage against the RU metagame, Braviary is a force to be reckoned with. Its solid wide (changed this to avoid repetition of "solid") movepool, consisting of moves such as Brave Bird, Superpower, Roost, and Bulk Up, compounded by its decent bulk, allows it to run several sets effectively. Defiant allows it to take advantage of Defog and Intimidate, making it a good choice for Sticky Web teams. However, Braviary has lackluster Speed, causing it to get outsped by most offensive Pokemon. It also has trouble handling Rock- and Steel-types such as Steelix, Rhyperior, and Doublade.

Moves
========

Brave Bird is Braviary's most reliable STAB move, having good coverage on in the RU metagame. Return is a solid secondary STAB move that covers Electric-types, (RC) and can be used when you can't afford to take recoil from Brave Bird. It also helps wear down and switch out of checks such as Steelix and Rhyperior. Roost is a decent option if you opt for Life Orb, as it heals off damage taken from Brave Bird, Life Orb, Stealth Rock, and weaker attacks. However, Braviary won't get many opportunities to heal up in a heated match. Shadow Claw hits Bronzong and Doublade harder than any other move on this set; however, it's usually better to U-turn out and let its Braviary's teammates deal with Doublade.

Maximum investment in Attack and Speed allows it Braviary to hit as hard and fast as possible. An Adamant nature gives it power needed to break down defensive walls (walls are by definition defensive). Choice Band has no recoil and almost guarantees a 2HKO on Alomomola after Stealth Rock damage. However, Life Orb allows it to switch up moves while still getting KOs on less defensive Pokemon; it is also the better option if you are using Braviary on a Sticky Web team.

Usage Tips
========

This set is used to break down walls and balanced teams. It is best to remove Stealth Rock from the field before sending in Braviary. U-turn should be used to wear down Braviary's checks and gain momentum. Superpower should only be used on predicted switches and weakened Rock- and Steel-types. Once all Pokemon that resist Flying-(remove hyphen) resists (resists shouldn't be used as a noun) are gone on the opposing team are gone, feel free to go to town spam (choose another word/phrase if you want) with Brave Bird.

Team Options
========

Dugtrio makes an excellent partner, as Braviary can U-turn into Dugtrio on the switch and trap Braviary's checks, such as Registeel and Cobalion. Meloetta and Exploud can lure in and weaken or KO checks such as Rhyperior and Registeel with their respective coverage moves. Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Jolteon, Cobalion, Meloetta, and Rotom-C can bring Braviary in safely with U-turn or Volt Switch; they also make a great VoltTurn core with Braviary. Finally, Seismitoad can switch into most of Braviary's checks thanks to its great bulk, (RC) and proceed to burn or KO them.

Substitute + Bulk Up
########
name: Substitute + Bulk Up
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Bulk Up
move 3: Roost
move 4: Brave Bird
ability: Defiant
item: Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 212 SpD / 44 Spe
nature: Careful

Moves
========

Substitute protects Braviary from status and eases prediction. Bulk Up boosts Attack and Defense, making it Braviary harder to break while preparing it for a sweep. Roost is reliable, mandatory recovery, healing off damage taken from Substitute, Brave Bird, and opposing attacks. Brave Bird is a strong, reliable STAB move with good coverage on in the metagame; it also has no immunities no foes are immune to it, unlike Return.

Set Details
========

Leftovers let it recover a bit of health every turn while letting it recover from Substitute damage. Maximum HP is invested so that Registeel can't break Braviary's Substitute with Seismic Toss. 44 Speed EVs let it Braviary outspeed and set up on Cresselia. The remaining EVs go in Special Defense along with a Careful nature, allowing Braviary to set up on weaker special attackers such as Amoonguss, Aromatisse, and Seismitoad. Special Defense is invested instead of Defense because Bulk Up already patches up its Defense. 160 Speed EVs is an option if you want to get the jump on Exploud.

Usage Tips
========

Watch out for phazers like such as Rhyperior and Steelix.

========

Clerics such as Audino and Aromatisse make great partners, as they can give Braviary a second chance to sweep if it gets statused. Toxic Spikes support from Pokemon such as... is great, as it helps weaken Pokemon in preparation for a sweep and allows Braviary to stall out the opponent foe with the combination of Substitute and Roost. Rapid Spin and Defog support from Pokemon such as Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, and Togetic is great to have, as Braviary doesn't like appreciate Stealth Rock. Examples include Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, and Togetic. Rhyperior checks most Rock- and Electric-types, scares out most defensive Steel-types with STAB Earthquake, and can set up Stealth Rock for the team. Once again, Meloetta and Exploud can weaken or KO most Rock- and Steel-types with their coverage moves. Seismitoad makes a great partner thanks to its ability to burn or KO most of Braviary's checks. Finally, Grass-types such as Rotom-C and offensive Tangrowth can take care of Rhyperior and Steelix.

Choice Scarf
########
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Brave Bird
move 2: Return
move 3: Superpower
move 4: U-turn
ability: Defiant
item: Choice Scarf
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Jolly

Moves
========

Brave Bird is your Braviary's strongest STAB move and has good coverage on in the metagame. Return is a reliable secondary STAB move that covers Electric-types and can be used when you want to avoid taking recoil from Brave Bird does not make Braviary take recoil damage, unlike Brave Bird (changed this to differentiate it from the description of Return in the Physical Attacker set). Superpower helps weaken Rock- and Steel-types. U-turn wears down checks and helps gain momentum.

Set Details
========

The EVs are self-explanatory. Choice Scarf turns Braviary into a good revenge killer and gives it a much needed Speed boost. A Jolly nature allows it to outspeed and revenge kill Jolteon.

Usage Tips
========

This set is used to revenge kill weakened Pokemon as well as frailer offensive Pokemon. This set can also sweep the opponent's team (the opponent isn't being swept, but their team is) late-game. Try not to switch into Scald if you can; however, you can play recklessly with Braviary if you have a cleric.

Team Options
========

Entry hazard support from Mesprit, Qwilfish, Omastar, and Crustle is especially important for this set, as it helps get crucial residual damage that can mean the difference between a KO and a 2HKO. Bulky Water- and Ground-types can take on most of Braviary's checks. Examples include Hitmontop and Alomomola, whoich can also provide Rapid Spin and Wish support., (full stop/period -> comma) and Seismitoad, (AC) which is also a great check to most Rock- and Steel-types, switching in with little to fear and threatening with a burn or a KO. Examples of Pokemon that can provide this support include Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, (added Hitmontop because it was mentioned earlier) Sandslash, and Togetic.

Other Options
########

Defog is a great support option, but Braviary just can't find a place for it on one of its sets. An offensive SubRoost set is somewhat viable, allowing it to PP stall and heal itself while maintaining offensive pressure. Toxic allows Braviary to cripple and wear down walls (I wouldn't call Rhyperior a wall; maybe just say something like "bulky foes") such as Rhyperior and Alomomola. Finally, a mixed set with Sheer Force and Heat Wave has a chance of 2HKOing Doublade, but otherwise, it is outclassed by Braviary's other sets.

Checks & Counters
########

**Mega Steelix**: Mega Steelix, especially Curse variants, really trouble Braviary, as Braviary can't do anything to it. In return, Steelix can set up Stealth Rock, phaze it out, or begin a sweep with Curse.
(empty line)
**Rock- and Steel-types**: Rock- and Steel-types such as Rhyperior, Aurorus, Steelix, Registeel, Doublade, and Bronzong can take most hits and either set up Stealth Rock, status it, or hit it hard. However, the latter two are setup bait for the Substitute + Bulk Up set, and all of them should be wary of U-turn.
(empty line)
**Electric-types**: Jolteon and Rotom-C can outspeed and OHKO Braviary with their respective STAB moves if it is not holding a Choice Scarf (though in Choice Scarf Rotom-C's case, it can still outspeed if it is a Scarf Rotom Choice Scarf Braviary).
(empty line)
**Unaware Quagsire**: Quagsire can take hits from most of Braviary's sets and retaliate with Scald or set up with Curse. However, the Choice Band set can break through it, and Quagsire only manages to PP stall the Substitute + Bulk Up set if it doesn't carry Curse.
(empty line)
**Infiltrator Users**: Pokemon with Infiltrator such as Golbat and Spiritomb can bypass Braviary's Substitute, (AC) and inflict status on it, and don't take much damage from Brave Bird. However, they must be switched in before Braviary attains too many boosts.
(empty line)
**Phazers**: Phazers such as Rhyperior, Steelix, and Weezing ("phazing" is a coined term meaning pseudo-hazing that refers to forcing switches via Roar, Whirlwind, etc with the intent of removing boosts. In Weezing's case, it directly removes the boosts via Haze or Clear Smog, so I'd change the section name to a catch-all term along the lines of "Stat Boost Removal") can counter the Substitute + Bulk Up set, removing its boosts and taking little damage from Brave Bird.

Overview
########

With its good Attack and solid coverage against the RU metagame, Braviary is a force to be reckoned with. Its wide movepool, consisting of moves such as Brave Bird, Superpower, Roost, and Bulk Up, compounded by along with its decent bulk, (remove comma) allows it to run several sets effectively. Defiant allows it to take advantage of Defog and Intimidate, making it a good choice for Sticky Web teams. However, Braviary has lackluster Speed, causing it to get outsped by most offensive Pokemon. It also has trouble handling Rock- and Steel-types such as Steelix, Rhyperior, Steelix, and Doublade.

Moves
========

Set Details

Maximum investment in Attack and Speed allows Braviary to hit as hard and fast as possible. An Adamant nature gives it the power needed to break down walls. Choice Band has no recoil and almost guarantees a 2HKO on Alomomola after Stealth Rock damage. Leftovers lets Braviary it recover a bit of health every turn and makes up for the HP lost from making Substitutes while letting it recover from Substitute damage. Maximum HP investment is used is invested so that Registeel can't break Braviary's Substitute with Seismic Toss. 44 Speed EVs let Braviary outspeed and set up on Cresselia. The remaining EVs go in Special Defense alongside with a Careful nature, allowing Braviary to set up on weaker special attackers such as Amoonguss, Aromatisse, and Seismitoad. Special Defense is invested in instead of Defense because Bulk Up already patches up its Braviary's Defense. Running 160 Speed EVs is an option if you want to get the jump on Exploud.

**Infiltrator Users**: Pokemon with Infiltrator such as Golbat and Spiritomb can bypass Braviary's Substitute, can inflict status on it, and don't take much damage from Brave Bird. (this change looks pretty strange but if you have "can" before the list starts, it applies to everything in the list. "can bypass, can inflict status, and can don't take much damage". that last one doesn't work. so, I moved the "can" to the second item so that it only applies to that one.) However, they must be switched in before Braviary attains too many boosts.

**Stat Boost Removal**: Phazers such as Rhyperior, Steelix, and Weezing can counter the Substitute + Bulk Up set, removing its boosts and taking little damage from Brave Bird.
