Silly Things You've Seen In Other Metagames

Random Shit: Expired in 1987 Edition

Scary Face+Clear Smog Gengar, and that's just the beginning.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-222376587
Bulk Up Thundurus is usable, but Foul Play is not an acceptable coverage move for such a set.

Fly non-mega Charizard. STOP.

★bradyahrens: its just a quagsire man
★bradyahrens: no need to kill em

Recycle Dedenne. Enough said.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-222375100
This guy likes physical defense, but not special. Then, just as he's about to lose, something supremely ridiculous happens: his opponent times out.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-222375713
Sometimes, the stupidity is subtle.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-222375439
And sometimes it isn't. I gotta say, though, the SubSeed Serperior was the best thing that guy had.

Special Gourgeist-XL with a Focus Sash.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-222377773
Tailwind, followed by Roar.

The strange thing is that was actually a viable way to use Dedenne. Between Parabolic Charge and Cheek Pouch + Recycle shenanigans, it can actually be tough to get around. The other player, meanwhile, picked Cinccino when there was a Gengar and Alakazam on that bench, both of whom would have destroyed the poor squirrel (and a lot more). Also, don't use Dedenne.

That's Fly COUNTER non-mega Charizard, actually. Not the worst idea on any other mon, but come on, Zard's TOTALLY living a hit:
0- Atk Primal Groudon Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Charizard: 364-432 (101.1 - 120%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Need I say anything else? Oh yeah, triple Stone Miss? Yikes. (That has a .08% chance of happening, if my math is correct.)

Well, actually, 0.8%. Still, though, if you're going to use Counter, at least use a sash or Wobbuffet.

Speaking of which, I forgot to mention it, but one of the battles up there had CounterCoat Gastrodon, which actually kinda worked.

Random Shit: No Beer In Heaven Edition

Ambipom does not get Scrappy. It would still suck if it did. Protect Exploud also showed up for no reason. And later, Life Orb Camerupt. Nice try.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-223122449
No comment.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/inheritance-223120033
I think that Togekiss forgot something.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/nimbus-monotype-6049
Tyrunt.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/1v1-223121471
Well, that's probably the most pathetic excuse for an EQ I've ever seen.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/inheritance-223120838
You'd think there would be less need for Hidden Power in Inheritance, but who am I to judge?

Florges+5 Grass mons vs. a team starring Torrent Greninja and mixed Lucario.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-223121207
Nice Explosion, dork. And more.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-223125682
Eeveelutions vs. ThunderDance Blissey and others.

Most DPP in-game teams have issues with CM Lugia. And everything else in AG.

Lax Incense V-Create Mega Rayquaza new meta. And more. Including Quick Claw Struggle OP.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-223124679
Although it didn't really factor into the outcome, non-mega Charizard #34524641.

I'm almost positive that we're looking at physically defensive Haxorus versus an Ambipom with a little HP investment:

252 Atk Life Orb Technician Ambipom Fake Out vs. 224 HP / 252+ Def Haxorus: 83-99 (23.7 - 28.3%) -- 92.2% chance to 4HKO
252 Atk Life Orb Ambipom Ice Punch vs. 224 HP / 252+ Def Haxorus: 138-164 (39.5 - 46.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

0 Atk Haxorus Earthquake vs. 44 HP / 0 Def Ambipom: 141-167 (46.6 - 55.2%) -- 69.5% chance to 2HKO

Today I learned Maractus is a Pokemon. Huh, hard to know all 719 of them when you never played Gen V.
Cradily and Golem
Cotton Guard Maractus, which actually works at first because of a clutch Gunk Miss...and then Greninja Blizzards (and hits).
Belly Drum Magmortar, which seems okay (base 95 Atk and a movepool including Flare Blitz, Rock Slide, Thunder Punch, Cross Chop, and EQ), but it was sent out against Greninja. What, you think it doesn't have a Water move or something? (Spoiler alert: it did.)
Galvantula attempting to Volt Switch against that Greninja, which had made itself Ground type the previous turn by tossing a layer of Spikes.
The aforementioned Explosion: Exeggutor against an Aegislash. Said Aegislash takes the opportunity to get to +6.
Arcanine with...Fire Fang. You get Flare Blitz, ya know. It does take Aegi to 44%, only to whiff on the next turn (95% accuracy). Also, Arcanine.
Giga Drain Mega-Gengar. Because Grass coverage is so valuable. Also, #gottastayhealthy.
The Cradily goes up against Azumarill and almost takes it down, only to get flinched on a Play Rough. That's rough. (*rimshot*)

That was actually a surprisingly interesting match. Very close.

Let's see... Me First Talonflame, physical Mega Sableye who doesn't understand Fake Out, Air Balloon Dark Pulse Cofagrigus, Focus Sash Slaking using Retaliate AGAINST A GHOST MONO (TWICE), Foul Play Zoroark, normal Banette, and Dark Pulse Gengar.
Me First talonflame, while not being the best move for it, is actually not so bad as it can Me First on something like Outrage and kill said user. Me First is actually reccomended on the CB set i think.

the rest though..... not so good

PH Gyarados-Mega is not the silly thing here. The team it very nearly swept, however, is. Some highlights:

V-Create Arceus without Contrary (not sure what it had)
That same Arceus using Psystrike on the Gyarados
Barboach, which managed to outspeed Gyarados
Reshiram deciding Dragon Rush would no longer work after it missed, proceeding to use Eruption while at 36%, also against Gyarados
Mega Rayquaza with Leaf Storm, with Delta Stream (not a bad ability, but it's not Contrary) and no item
Quick Claw Primal Groudon at the end which was probably his best set. Reflect+Close Combat. But again, Contrary exists.

Edit:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-223532024
Oh god. This battle is 36 turns long and I can probably count the number of logical plays on one hand.
Air Balloon Rayquaza with Hidden Power
Metronome+Mean Look+Extreme Speed Smeargle holding a Quick Claw. Hilariously, the two moves Metronome called were Acrobatics and Swagger, and the Claw activated on E-speed
Non-mega Charizard falling for the blatantly obvious Destiny Bond Cacturne
Hidden Power+Avalanche non-mega Blastoise
Hidden Power+Flamethrower Mega Kangaskhan failing at Fake Out
Noctowl (insert your >implying owls are birds jokes here), and it was mixed, too
Calm Mind+Poison Jab+Body Slam+Will-o-Wisp Mewtwo trying to burn Archeops multiple times

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-223534545
NU team beats bad Ubers team.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-223568342
I question the usage of Focus Blast while at -3 accuracy and the opponent is at +2 evasion. As well as this entire battle.

Was that a
Calm Mind/Swords Dance/Rock Tomb

Infernape?

Wow.

(Also, Super Fang, Infestation, Protect Mew. I dunno, that seems more like a Doubles set to me. And even then Mew doesn't need Super Fang because it can actually hit stuff.)

Random Shit: Not an Alt Edition

Energy Ball Mega Medicham. That is all.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-224311791
Curse+Stored Power Umbreon. What's the point? Also, Darkrai Dark Voiding said Umbreon after it had become paralyzed.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-224318111
That random FEAR Phantump, and turn 5.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-224318484
Hyper Voice+Toxic+Boomburst Exploud. Nice coverage.

And that's it for now, because PS crashed (again), though I might put some more stuff in later.
