Deoxys-A

[OVERVIEW]

Deoxys-A is able to outspeed most of the tier and has sky-high Attack and Special Attack with great coverage, allowing it to easily go mixed. Deoxys-A is a great choice for hyper offense teams in order to maintain pressure; almost nothing can switch into it safely. Deoxys-A is extremely frail and can't switch in on any attack, while its reliance on its Speed stat means that it has trouble against Choice Scarf users and forms of speed control such as Thunder Wave; Extreme Speed only partially compensates for this.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Psycho Boost is able to easily tear down even bulky Pokemon, though it has a -2 Special Attack drop as a drawback. Ice Beam hits Dragon-types such as Hydreigon and Latios hard and lets Deoxys-A KO Pokemon weak to it, such as Landorus-T, without suffering Psycho Boost's drawback. Extreme Speed is used to outspeed the most common priority users, play mind games against Sucker Punch users such as Mega Kangaskhan, and KO boosted sweepers with low HP without breaking Focus Sash; due to Deoxys-A's great Attack, it is also great at revenge killing faster foes. Superpower hits Dark- and Steel-types such as Hydreigon and Bisharp. Low Kick is an option to avoid the Attack drop, but it deals less damage than Superpower against most foes and Deoxys-A is too frail to mind the Defense drop. Detect stops priority such as Fake Out from Mega Kangaskhan, which can KO Deoxys-A. It is also useful to scout the foe's moveset, and because Deoxys-A is powerful and always runs Focus Sash, it is usually double targeted; Detect is preferred to Protect due to Imprison.

Set Details
========
The given EVs allow Deoxys-A to outspeed Mega Gengar, deal huge damage with Psycho Boost, and deal slightly more damage with Superpower. A Rash nature boosts Psycho Boost even further and maintains Deoxys-A's Defense to tank physical priority moves, such as Fake Out and Mach Punch, better. Focus Sash is the preferred item because Deoxys-A is very frail and Focus Sash increases its staying power. Life Orb is an option to increase Deoxys-A's power, but it reduces the chance of staying on the field. An EV spread of 60 Atk / 252 SpA / 196 Spe with a Naive nature is an option to outspeed Adamant Choice Scarf Landorus-T, but it loses a lot of power, giving Deoxys-A a lower chance of OHKOing Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Charizard Y, and Thundurus.

Usage Tips
========

Deoxys-A often works in a hit-and-run manner, striking hard with Psycho Boost and then switching to a bulky teammate so that it can come back in again later with its Special Attack restored. Due to its inability to switch into attacks, Deoxys-A typically functions as a lead or revenge killer; as it can only switch onto the field after a teammate has been KOed. Deoxys-A needs to be kept away from secondary damage such as sand, hail, (AC) or Rocky Helmet, as this breaks its Focus Sash. Use Detect if you expect a priority move, especially Fake Out, or a double target on Deoxys-A, as Deoxys-A tends to draw in many attacks. If using Extreme Speed, it can be used to finish off weakened threats or circumvent your opponent's speed control or priority attackers.

Team Options
========

Mega Kangaskhan is able to give Deoxys-A momentum and help block attacks with Fake Out to preserve Deoxys-A's Focus Sash. Pokemon with redirection moves, such as Amoonguss or Togekiss, help keep Deoxys-A in the game a lot, as they draw in hits. Because Deoxys-A is frail, it will be the target of spread moves many times; Wide Guard users such as Hitmontop and Aegislash may help it, especially against Heatran and Sylveon, (AC) respectively. Pokemon that can stop priority with Quick Guard, such as Talonflame, Keldeo, or Terrakion, also work well. Aegislash is able to take on Mega Metagross and Jirachi, which can tank all of Deoxys-A's moves.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Knock Off can be considered in order to hit Choice Scarf Landorus-T on a switch so it can't outspeed Deoxys-A anymore, as well as give Deoxys-A a way to hit Aegislash, but outside of this it's pretty limited. Thunderbolt helps against Water-types such as Politoed and does not drop Deoxys-A's Special Attack against Keldeo, but Psycho Boost is a better option overall. Taunt might seem useful, but with Deoxys-A's frailness, it's better to let it attack from the get-go. Dark Pulse could be an option to hit Mega Metagross hard, thanks to its Special Defense being lower than its Defense. Substitute can be used in conjunction with Life Orb, but it works badly with Psycho Boost's Special Attack drop, forcing Deoxys-A to switch, and Deoxys-A tends to be double targeted most of the time; Deoxys-A will usually be OHKOed as it sets up a Substitute.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Typing Advantage**: Pokemon such as Cresselia or Mega Metagross can switch in on a Psycho Boost and trouble Deoxys-A; Aegislash, Assault Vest Escavalier, and Jirachi can also switch in and threaten Deoxys-A with their STAB moves.

**Utility**: Pokemon with Fake Out such as Hitmontop and Scrafty can break Deoxys-A's Focus Sash. Deoxys-A dislikes priority moves in general, particularly from Talonflame, Bisharp, and Mega Kangaskhan. Feint from Hitmontop and Scizor is especially troublesome, as the move bypasses Detect.

**Speed Control**: Thunder Wave from Pokemon with Prankster such as Thundurus makes Deoxys-A almost useless. Trick Room teams are very annoying, because by being slower, Deoxys-A won't get a chance to attack due to its frailness; Cresselia can switch in on anything and then proceed to use Thunder Wave or Trick Room to render Deoxys-A useless. Tailwind works similarly to Trick Room with Pokemon such as Suicune.

**Faster Pokemon**: Anything faster than Deoxys-A is a threat. Fast Choice Scarf users, such as Jolly Landorus-T or Genesect, can outspeed and threaten Deoxys-A with U-turn, breaking its Focus Sash. Weather sweepers such as Swift Swim Mega Swampert, Ludicolo, and Kingdra, as well as Chlorophyll Venusaur, are also problematic under their favored weather, as Deoxys-A won't survive even neutral STAB attacks.

Overview:
  • Add that almost nothing can switch into it safely
Set Details:
  • "Not Jolly Landorus-T" should just be "Adamant Landorus-T" lel
Other Options:
  • Add that without Knock Off, Aegislash is a hard-counter
Checks & Counters:
  • Feint and Fake Out belong in **Utility Moves**
  • Add that pairings such as Fake Out + Substitute mon work well vs deoxys because it can KO whatever tf it wants with its coverage.
  • Assault Vest Escavalier is a good check
  • add almost every priority user in the meta

Reorder OO to put Knock Off first, as it's the most viable other option Deoxys-A has. Thunderbolt, et al are much more niche.

Mention Low Kick in Moves as Fighting coverage that doesn't drop Deoxys-A's attack, but that it's unreliable and less consistently powerful.

Do ^these two things now.

That EV Spread does NOT outspeed Landorus-T. Lolk BLOOD TOTEM do you know what that speed is for? I assumed from the writing that 20 Atk is needed to OHKO Kanga with Superpower and it was just taken from speed because 150 is largely irrelevant. But... no...
20 Atk Deoxys-A Superpower vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Kangaskhan: 294-346 (83.5 - 98.2%)

Once ^this is fixed (wait for QC to figure out what's going on), I'll give it the 3/3

Given spread beats base 130, ie mega gengar
the set I run is
Deoxys-Attack @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 56 Atk / 252 SpA / 200 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Psycho Boost
- Ice Beam
- Low Kick
- Protect
this does beat adamant lando t and has some speed creep on top iirc

Enki, put the Low Kick stuff in Moves, not Other Options. It's on the main set.

And TOTEM, that spread looks decent to me, but moving from a 75% OHKO on Char-Y to an 18% one (among many other new dmg rolls) is concerning. QC will discuss and get back to you Enki.

Sorry about the delay. QC team has decided to keep the original EV: 20 Atk / 252 SpA / 236 Spe. This outruns Mega Gengar and has greater damage output, including a higher chance to OHKO Pokemon such as Mega Kang, Mega Charizard Y, and Thundurus-I.

60 Atk / 252 SpA / 196 Spe can still be mentioned in Set Comments as an alternate spread to outrun max Speed Scarf Adamant Landorus-T.

Overview
-"It is probably the most frail competitive threat in the Metagame" Deoxys either is or isn't the most frail competitive threat in the metagame. This is not something that should be probably. You're also getting on a grey area as a less-experienced may complain that more frail Pokemon are viable. Just say it is extremely frail and cannot switch in on practically any attack
-You oversell Extremespeed, especially considering it's not even a main slash. You should remove the first line about it. Only say, as you did with the last line, that it has trouble against Speed Control, as it is very reliant on its Speed stat, and Extremespeed only partially compensates for this.

Moves
-
Super Power is to hit hard Dark and Normal-type, such as Hydreigon, Bisharp, Mega-Kangaskhan, and other Pokemon that can take Psycho Boost.
Superpower is used for Dark- and Steel-types that resist Psycho Boost, not the Normal-type. Mega Kang is actually hit harder by Psycho Boost than Superpowr
-state why Low Kick is not preferred by Superpower. Also don't use the word outclass as it's not correct

20 Atk Deoxys-A Superpower vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Kangaskhan: 294-346 (83.5 - 98.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Deoxys-A Psycho Boost vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Kangaskhan: 322-379 (91.4 - 107.6%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

Set details
-"the remainent in Atk to KO 4/0 Mega-Kangaskhan, and have a chance to KO Heatran" Remove as this is false. Just say the remainder in Attack to increase Superpower's damage output
-Add Blood Totem's EV spread to Set Details after mentioning the first EV spread.
-"Focus Sash is the preferred item because Deoxys-A is very frail and with it it increase its staying power. (new sentence, remove "but") Life Orb is an option to increase its Power, but it reduce the chance to stay alive. This sounds better
-"Extreme Speed allows Deoxys-A to pick weakened threats while Psycho Boost grants him the ability to wreck havoc in the early game, making Deoxys-A a flexible choice" this is about moves and should be in the moves section, not

Usage tips
"Thanks to its huge SpA, it hits hard defensive Pokemon, common Intimidate users like Landorus-therian and Hitmontop will also have problem switching in against Ice Beam and Psycho Boost respectively." This does not relate to usage tips and is too specific (Lando-T and Hitmontop would not switch into Deoxys-A). Remove this line
-"While still having access to Extreme Speed, Deoxys-a remains susceptible against Speed Control." You sholuld be stating how to use ExtremeSpeed here. "Deoxys-A remain susceptible against Speed Control" does not explain how to use Deo-A

OO
-"because Substitute doesn't work very well with Psycho Boost." Mention why doesn't it work well

Checks and Counters
-"Cresselia can switch in on anything then proceed to use Thunder Wave or Trick Room to render Deoxys-A useless." This belongs in Speed control
-"Pokemon with priority threaten Deoxys-A alot, such as Talonflame, Bisharp or Kangaskhan." This belongs in utility
-Do no mention Thundurus; it is very likely to be OHKoed by Pyscho Boost
-Mention a user of Tailwind, like Suicune
-Under Speed, specifically mention that any Pokemon faster than Deoxys-A is a threat.

Overview

It is extremely frail and can't switch-in on any move.
Replace "move" with "attack". Deoxys-A can switch in on certain moves like Rage Powder, Recover, but it cannot switch in on attacks.

It has access to Extreme Speed, allowing him some protection against Paralysis, Trick Room and Scarfers. it has trouble against Speed Control, as it is very reliant on its Speed stat, and Extremespeed only partially compensates for this.
I want to merge these two sentences togehter. As I said before, placing so much emphasis on a move that is not the main slash does not reflect the analysis.

Remove the first line. Change the last line to this:

It is very reliant on its Speed stat and thus has trouble against Choice Scarf users and Speed control such as Thunder Wave; Extreme Speed only partially compensates for this.

Moves

Super Power is to hit hard Dark and Steel-type who can withstand Psycho Boost, such as Hydreigon and Bisharp, Mega-Kangaskhan, and other Pokemon that can take Psycho Boost.
Mega Kang cannot take a Psycho Boost. And as I said before, it takes it worse than Superpower.

Low Kick is an option to Fighting-type coverage and avoid the Attack drop, but it is outclassed my Superpower.
Low Kick does not outclass Superpower. Rather it hits for less damage against most opponents.

Set Comments

The EV Spread allow Deoxys-A to outspeed Adamant Scarf Landorus-T with Naive nature.
False. This spread does not outspeed Landorus-T. It outspeeds base Speed 130 Pokemon such as Mega Gengar.

You still need to add Blood Totem's spread of using a Naive nature with 60 Atk / 252 SpA / 196 Spe. This enables Deoxys-A to outrun max Speed Scarf Adamant Landorus-T; however, it loses a lot of power, including a lower chance of OHKOing Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Charizard Y, and Thundurus-I.

Also add that a nature lowering Special Defence is preferred over one lowering Defence, because this helps Deoxys-A withstand some priority attacks such as Mach Punch.

Usage tips

Your Usage tips has the same problem that your Mamoswine analysis had initially - it describes minor details about using Deoxys-A and does not address the key part about using Deoxys-A. Read Blood Totem's Usage tips in his Pokedex for an idea about how to write Usage tips
blood totem said:
Deoxys-A can handle many common Intimidate users such as Landorus-T and Hitmontop with Ice Beam and Psycho Boost, respectively. Due to its inability to switch into attacks, Deoxys-A typically functions as a lead or revenge killer; as it can only switch onto the field after a teammate has been KOed. Deoxys-A draws in a lot of attacks which can be avoided through the use of Detect. Deoxys-A needs to be kept away from chip damage from things such as sand or hail, as this breaks its Focus Sash. When possible, priority moves such as Fake Out also need to be avoided.
Every analysis should be better than the one before it.

Deoxys-A's primary role is to get in and get as many KOs as possible whilst inflicting as much damage as possible. Using it as a lead and revenge killer are part of this, but are still good points and still should be mentioned. Mention that it works well as a lead and revenge kilelr because it cannot switch into attacks.

Deoxys-A often works in a hit-and-run manner, striking hard with Psycho Boost and then switching into something bulky so it can come back in again later with its Special Attack restored.
This is from Blood Totem's previous analysis. I'd add it as it's a good line.

Mention that it should avoid priority attacks such as Fake Out.

While still having access to Extreme Speed, Deoxys-a remains susceptible against Speed Control. If using Extreme Speed, use it is able to KO some Deoxy's threats in low HP, such as Mega-Kangaskhan, avoiding the KO with Parental Bond Sucher Punch, or put all in a hard mind game against Sucher Punch, could be used against other frail threats avoiding the Sash's breaks.
This belongs under Moves, not under ExtemeSpeed. It can be condensed signficantly and combined with your description of ExtremeSpeed in moves here as there is notable repeat:
Extreme Speed allows Deoxys-A to pick weakened threats while Psycho Boost grants him the ability to wreck havoc in the early game, making Deoxys-A a flexible choice.
Remove both the quoted lines. In Moves, write this instead:
Extreme Speed allows Deoxys-A to pick off weakened threats, strike before faster opponents and priority moves, and avoid Sucker Punch. while Psycho Boost grants him the ability to wreck havoc in the early game, making Deoxys-A a flexible choice.

OO
Substitute can be considered as an option, but due to Deoxys-a's nature to draw in attacks it isn't reccomended, because Substitute doesn't work very well with Psycho Boost, because it haven't chance to sub, but only to spam the STAB, Deoxys is often double targetted, to break the Focus Sash.
This lost me. Can you rewrite this to bring your messages across more clearly?

Team Options. It's good
Checks and counters
**Speed**: Anything faster than Deoxys-A is a threat. Fast Choice Scarf abusers, such as Jolly Landorus-T or Genesect can outspeed and threaten with U-turn, breaking the Focus Sash. Weather abusers such as Pokemon with Swift Swim and Chlorophyll, like Mega-Swampert, Ludicolo or Kingdra in rain teams, or Venusaur in sun teams, and anything faster than Deoxys is a threat.
Moved that bit to the start. It fits much better there.

Ctrl + F Protect, and replace them all with Detect. Just realised it can learn Detect from a 4th Gen event.

Moves

Mega-Kangaskhan can not take a Psycho Boost
You can remove this.

Low Kick is an option to for Fighting-type coverage and avoid the Attack drop, but it is outclassed by deals less damage than Superpower against most opponents, and Deoxys-A is too frail to mind the Defence drop.
Extreme Speed allows Deoxys-A to pick off weakened threats, strike before faster opponents and priority moves, and avoid Sucker Punch. while Psycho Boost grants him the ability to wreck havoc in the early game, making Deoxys-A a flexible choice.
Remove this. This is repeat information.

Set details

Just before mentioning Focus Sash, state the followig:
A Rash nature is preferred over a Mild nature, as Deoxys-A is more likely to not waste its Focus Sash on weak physical attacks than weak special attacks such as Fake Out and Mach Punch.

Usage tips

I've rewritten the Usage tips for you, stating what you've previously used whilst addressing my previous points, and added some things from Blood Totem's old analysis to better describe how to use Deoxys-A.

Deoxys-A often works in a hit-and-run manner, striking hard with Psycho Boost and then switching into something bulky so it can come back in again later with its Special Attack restored. Due to its inability to switch into attacks, Deoxys-A typically functions as a lead or revenge killer; as it can only switch onto the field after a teammate has been KOed. Deoxys-A needs to be kept away from secondary damage such as from sand, hail or Rocky Helmet, as this breaks its Focus Sash. Use Detect if you expect a priority move, especially Fake Out, or a double target on Deoxys-A, as Deoxys-A tends to draw in many attacks. If using ExtremeSpeed, it can be used to finish off weakened threats or circumvent your opponent's Speed control or priority.

Team Options
Aegislash is a great partner, able to take on Mega-Metagross and Jirachi, which can take well all Deoxys-a moves.
Something small I missed before :)

Rewrite this as the following:

Substitute can be used in conjunction with Life Orb. However, it gels poorly with Deoxys-A's Psycho Boost special drop, and Deoxys-A tends to be double targeted; if that happens, Deoxys-A gets KOed the turn it sets up Substitute.

Checks and Counters

Change offensive typing advantage to just typing advantage.

The Steel-types you mentioned can switch in on any attack, not just thanks to Pyschic resistances.

**Utility** - I reworded it as folows:
Fake Out Pokemon such as Hitmontop and Scrafty which can break the Focus Sash with Fake Out, Protect helps a lot. Deoxys-A dislikes priority moves in general, such as from Talonflame, Bisharp and Mega Kangaskhan. Feint from Hitmontop and Scizor is espeically troublesome as they bypass Detect. which threaten a lot, and almost every priority move.
