Conkeldurr @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 236 SpD / 20 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Knock Off
- Ice Punch

Mega Pidgeot is stopped pretty hard by things like Heatran, Tyranitar and Chansey. Conkeldurr can switch into all of these pretty easily and force them out or can severly weaken them especially since they lack reliable recovery.

Just sayin but the pidgeot set has hyper beam so rotom-w isn't a counter cuz it dies to hurricane + hyper beam. Same for raikou.

anyways I'll take azumarill

Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Return

With the ability Mold Breaker, Excadrill can heavily weaken Rotom-W (although as Firehusky mentioned, Rotom-W doesn't really like switching in but can win with a free switch). Not only that but with a choice scarf equipped it checks fast electric types such as Mega Manectric, Thundurus and Raikou which can all threaten Mega Pidgeot. On top of that Excadrill is capable of breaking down rock types like Mega Diancie and Tyranitar and can also OHKO Heatran which is a wall to Mega Pidgeot. It doesn't really like switching into a lot of things but Pidgeot provides U-turns on switchins for a free switch. Also Rock Slide is a 2HKO after Stealth Rocks on Zapdos, although it can only beat Bird Jesus if given a free switch since it's running Hyper Beam. Oh yeah it can also flinch Chansey to death or 2HKO after rocks with a tiny bit of prior damage with EQ.

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Superpower

Azumarill beats Tyranitar, Heatran, and Chansey, all of which counter Pidgeot. Azumarill also enjoys pokemon such as Skarmory and Ferrothorn weakened, so that it can beat them later on. CB Azumarill works as a great physical wallbreaker which tears holes in the opposing team, giving mega pidgeot a chance to clean up.

party and bullshit (Victini) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 248 HP / 76 Atk / 184 Spe
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- Final Gambit
- U-turn
- Bolt Strike

The usual counters to Mega Pidgeot tend to be Rotom-W (although admittedly Hyper Beam alleviates this), Tyranitar, Diancie and Heatran. Scarf Victini acts as a lure, taking out all three with a Final Gambit on the switch. It also checks Raikou and Mega Manectric with the disgusting V-Create. Speed EVs are for Scarf Lando-T, and max HP for hella Final Gambits.

Reserving Keldeo cause I'm a generic fuck.

Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Scald
- Hidden Power [Bug]

The main checks / counters to Pidgeot include Tyranitar, Heatran, & Chansey. Keldeo easily switches into all three of these threats, taking little to nothing from their STAB (Chansey can't do anything but Toxic & Seismic Toss.), then proceed to Secret Sword them into oblivion.

Congratulations to ArchPhantom, fleggumfl, and Dr Ciel for winning this week! We didn't get as many entries this week, probably due to Mega Pidgeot not being so common, so I decided to end discussion a little earlier .__.

Week 4 - Swords Dance Stallbreaker Gliscor

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 8 Def / 200 SpD / 56 Spe
Careful Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Roost

Gliscor is a great stallbreaker, able to power through stall-oriented builds consisting of the likes of Chansey, Mega Sableye and Jirachi. In addition, it is a great check to many special attackers in the tier, such as Gengar, Landorus lacking Hidden Power Ice, and Clefable, and a great switch-in to status and Knock Off because of its great ability in Poison Heal.

However, it is hampered by the prominence of powerful attackers in the tier, such as Mega Altaria and Mega Metagross, and Water- and Ice-types such as Keldeo and Weavile.

Discuss!

Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Grass Knot
- Earthquake

Metagross is a decent partner for gliscor as it beats keldeo 1v1, and lures in bulky waters and takes them out with grass knot. Also checks weavile and other ice shard / ice beam users such as kyu-b and mamoswine, and beats opposing mega metagross with earthquake and beats mega altaria. Also appreciates mons like ferrothorn and mega sableye weakened or removed.

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 84 Atk / 176 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off

Mega Scizors bulk and typing allows it to setup on MegaGross, physical MAltaria and Ice types like Kyurem-B, Mamoswine and Weavile, all of which give Gliscor trouble.
While Scizor is handled by things like Heatran, Volcarona, Heat Wave Zapdos and Magnezone, Gliscor is able to setup on them the majority of the time and they both make a solid offensive core.
However, running Scizor barely helps with the trouble Gliscor gets from water types, but otherwise, they work together pretty well

Reserving Reuniclus.

Reuniclus @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast / Shadow Ball.
- Recover

CM Reuniclus & SD Gliscor really help each other out. SD Gliscor usually struggles against powerful Pokemon that carry super effective coverage against it, including the likes of Mega Manectric, Ice Punch Mega Lopunny, Landorus-T & others. Reuniclus's natural bulk helps it set up against a majority of these threats, & be able to begin a sweep of its own while Gliscor helps take out Mega Sableye, which Reuniclus struggles with.

Reserving Toxicroak, will be done in five hours at most

Toxicroak @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Gunk Shot
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch

Both of these SD'ers can take out things that the other hates. Toxicroak can check MAltaria, OHKO Mega Meta at +2 with Sucker Punch, and soft check Keldeo as well as beating Weavile 1v1. Defensively, Toxicroak offers Gliscor a water immunity while Gliscor offers Toxicroak a ground immunity.

+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Toxicroak Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Metagross: 304-359 (100.9 - 119.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Toxicroak Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 331-391 (102.4 - 121%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Life Orb Toxicroak Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Altaria: 330-390 (93.2 - 110.1%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO (Just showing how it doesn't stand up to 'Croak regardless of investment)

Reserving Celebi. I'll be done in probably a few minutes.

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 152 Def / 108 Spe
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Recover
- Baton Pass
- Thunder Wave

Celebi and Gliscor have great synergy as defensive mons, despite the dual ice weakness. Celebi counters mons like Ice Punch Mega Lopunny, Keldeo, Rotom-W, Slowbro, and other bulky water types. Gliscor beats Heatran and Gengar to help Celebi do its job. Baton Pass allows Celebi a quick switch without having to worry about being Pursuit trapped by the likes of Tyranitar and Bisharp, while Thunder Wave lets Celebi cripple some of Gliscor's threats such as Mega Metagross and Mega Lopunny.

Slowking @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 164 SpA / 96 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Tail

Slowking takes on a lot of the Pokemon that give Stallbreaker Gliscor trouble, namely Mega-Metagross, Keldeo, and TG Manaphy. M-Meta can only 3HKO Slowking, and it hates staying in and risking a Scald burn or Fire Blast. Pretty much all variants of Keldeo outright lose to this Slowking set too, and with its immense special bulk, King can take a +3 Energy Ball from Manaphy and then phaze it out with Dragon Tail. Slowking and Gliscor pair nicely together from a defensive standpoint as well. Glis can act as a Toxic absorber for King and can take on most Pursuit trappers and U-Turners that give King trouble. Meanwhile, Slowking can easily tank any ice or water type attacks aimed at Gliscor. All in all, a good core that I've used a few times to great effect.

PS: Sorry for the double post originally. I was tired and Smogon was being weird.

SpikyDoge @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flamethrower/Overheat
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Mega Manectric synergises well with Gliscor, being able to tackle bulky waters and ice types that trouble Gliscor, such as Manaphy and Weavile, while Gliscor aids Manectric by being able to remove common switch-ins to Manectric such as Clefable and Chansey, allowing the Doge to clean up late-game with its amazing coverage.

reserving m-altaria, will be done this evening (or morning for you dn but w/e)

Altaria @ Altarianite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 136 Def / 96 SpD / 28 Spe
Impish Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Roost
- Return
- Refresh/Substitute

alt and gliscor make a killer core thats able to handle stall really well. altaria and gliscor wear down eachothers checks (i.e. skarm) and can mess over stall teams together due to not caring about status and being able to roost off most damage dealt to them. glisc also handles most steel types, which d/d/d alt really appreciates. core needs something to handle ice types and skarmory, so scarf magnezone is a hella cool partner.

Reserving Entei be back in 4 hours, 11 minutes, 32 seconds

Entei @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Bulldoze
- Stone Edge
- Extreme Speed

Entei is a pokemon who can't usually be beneficial in some cases, but can sometimes. SD Gliscor can benefit from entei in a couple different ways, other than the obvious flaw of water, it can gliscor can benefit from the Ice v Fire matchup, and gliscor kills the rock types and the ground types Entcan benefit. althought they have the common enemy of
azumarill, hell, and all water types, they can normally have a great match up together, since entei clears all of the stupid ice types gliscor hates, and et cetera et cetera.

Manaphy @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Rain Dance
- Rest
- Scald

So Gliscor is generally threatened by water, ice and electric types carrying ice type coverage. Manaphy can handle 2 out of 3 pretty well and with the bulky Calm Mind set is able to take on fierce physical attackers even including Life Orb Mamoswine, Mega Lopunny and Mega Metagross. As a bulky Calm Mind sweeper, Manaphy synergizes amazingly with Gliscor. It takes on physical walls like Skarmory, Slowbro and Rotom-Wash that Gliscor has problems with and Gliscor sets up on Ferrothorn and Celebi. Adding Manaphy does compound a weakness to electric types somewhat, but Gliscor can survive the OHKO from most electric types carrying HP [Ice] and retaliate with a super effective Earthquake, leaving Thundurus as the main threat.

Reserving Kyu-B, will be done in 10 minutes

Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
EVs: 56 Atk / 252 SpA / 200 Spe
Mild Nature
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
- Earth Power
- Roost / Hidden Power [Fire]

SD Gliscor struggles with water and Ice Type moves that are thrown at it, has alot of trouble wih electric types carrying this coverage, and also struggles to break through bulky grass types and flying types such as M-Venesaur and Skarmory. Thanks to Kyu-B's terrific offensive typing and its great coverage, it can easily rip through common balanced cores and stall mons that Gliscor can struggle with. In particular it eliminates Electric types and gets a free switch into Rotom-W, amon Gliscor especially hates. It also appreciates Gliscors ability to break down Steel types, as well as removing the opposing teams recovery with knock off, it especially appreciates Chanseys eviolite being removed. Gliscor also beats CM Clefable for Kyu-B, as well as checking Mega-Metagross and special fairy types.

Overall they are a fantastic synergetic core that cover each others flaws very nicely

Reverving Gothitelle.....who would have guessed I would pick that?

Gothitelle @ Choice Specs
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 168 HP / 252 SpA / 88 Spe
Modest Nature
- Trick
- Psychic
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt

Gothitelle makes a very solid partner for SD gliscor taking out Bulky grass and water types that it hates inculding Chestnuaght, Amonguss, ferrothorn, venu and Gyarados whom would otherwise wall gliscor or eliminating otherwise difficult to check pokemon like keldeo and Azumarill who would simply kill gliscor otherwise. In return Gliscor Absorbs random knock off directed Goth as well as beating genger, Bisharp and sableye 3 pokemon goth simply can not power through.

Overall the 2 work well togethor eliminating each others checks to enable the other to do there job more effectivly

Stolen from the OU Good Cores thread:

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Softboiled
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Flamethrower

Gliscor comes in easily on Heatran and non HP-Ice Landorus-I and non-Icy Wind Gengar, all of which gives Clefable trouble. In return, Clefable can help to check Latios, Thundurus, Keldeo and Weavile while also soft-checking Kyurem-B which forces Gliscor out.
