I am always tired. Don't bother me.
I'm sure it'll turn dark at some point. If not it'll have some sort of mind bending plot twists.

My recommendation for the season, Danmachi, a highly ranked light novel in the JP polls that has high expectations for the adaptation. Also extremely cute!

early thoughts

Show by Rock: a mess. kinda entertaining but unquestionably a mess.

Mikagura: reasonably fun light novelly sort of thing. It's based off NND songs which is where Mekaku came from though so can't get expectations up too much.

Punchline: see Show by Rock, though I'm expecting a little more from this one given the writer's pedigree.

Euphonium: this looks like it'll be another Hyouka or Chihayafuru for me, ie technically good but about something really boring.

Triage X: ew

Etotama: favorite harem lead of the season (but only because Grisaia hasn't aired yet).

Soma: pretty fun, like Yakitate Japan but with more fanservice

Dungeon: it's like JC Staff never even left us

SNAFU s2: neck and neck with Fate for AotS, but it has an unfair advantage since it's new to me. Amazing for deliciously awkward relationship drama regardless.

Yuki-chan: this isn't Haruhi, it's Haruhi characters transplanted into a harem where Yuki is now a giant moeblob

Denpa Kyoushi: like GTO except bad somehow...idk, I feel like it's trying too hard to make the main character a cool guy. Also his sister's voice actor is really really bad.

Owari no Seraph: Attack on Titan vibes for a number of reasons, though the first episode was mostly setup

Plastic Memories: decent, but I get the strong feeling this is just KEY in disguise

Kekkai Sensen/Blood Blockade Battlefront: somewhat messy (to be expected as it's from the Trigun author) but still very promising.

Ore Monogatari: heavy shoujo artstyle is kinda ick but solid otherwise.

Denpa Kyoushi's manga is shitty. I wouldn't waste your time on the show either.

Banned deucer.
alright episode 1 thoughts

Plastic Memories: pretty good but it could fall into the trap of having shitty comedy offset the decent world/drama it has set up

Ore Monogatari: probably my favourite first episode, really solid all around

Punchline: i had high hopes going in but the first ep has kinda quashed all hype

Euphonium: pretty as all fuck, as to be expected of kyoani. I really liked the first episode, cant really put my finger on why

FS/N: Its FS/N

Yuki-chan: the only show i dropped so far, what a waste of time

Soma: Literal porn, i love food anime though so i will stick with this one.

Re-Kan: sleeper hit of the season, some really good heart/comedy behind a fairly generic shell

Gunslinger Stratos:

potentially the worst show ive ever watched but i cant look away what a fucking wreck

Honestly, I thought the first episode of Punchline was really fucking good. It def feels like a Kotaro Uchikoshi game, what with all the rules and resets. What I appreciate so far is the massive attention to detail. In one episode the apartment complex feels more fleshed out and real than any location I've seen in any anime, and it feels real good to imagine that a large portion of the show might just be the main character solving mysteries in this building. The characters seem fleshed out and interesting, and it's got the humor and energy from VLR. The premise is really strange and I have no idea where it is going, but I'm way more hooked than I usually am for new anime.

I don't understand. It's a shoujo story, and the girl has confessed to the guy, who accepted the confession. In episode 3. How is there an episode 4?

Looks more like just a remix of the original song (even taking one or two new looking visuals early on at the start)...

If you aren't follow Knights of Sidonia, you should. The story is really picking up since season one.

The best part about punch line is that every piece of exposition actually causes the plot to make less sense. I'd wager it's the most complex story about panties that exists.

Punchline is basically Ghost Trick meets Zero Escape in the form of an ecchi anime. I think given the writer's background, the best way to mask a complex story using themes inspired from his previous work was to approach this show's story in the kind of manner it is being presented. I already figured out the plot by episode 2, so all I'm waiting for is the pieces of the puzzle to come together.

Apparently, Digimon Adventure tri. isn't going to be the TV series I was looking forward to most. I'm looking forward to the OVA anyway, because Alphamon will finally appear in the mainstream anime. That might include DORUmon, DORUgamon, and DORUguremon as well. There's a new Digimon being held in a Tamer's arms, too. It looks like a cat or a fox.

another week, another plot device to make punchline even weirder. what's new?

i'm kinda enjoying this hot mess though dunno why, maybe the character's charm got me n_n

Oh right, this thread.

Good Seasonal Stuff:

Hibike! Euphonium:
This show has subtleties, did you know? I really like the characterization and attention to detail. It also has some Classic KyoAni SoL Drama moments that don't appeal to me (for example in the last episode where Kumiko decides she doesn't want to talk to her friends from Junior High because gosh darn, she has a new start) but it's mostly a good experience. It's weird that sometimes it feels like they're botching up the character animation in contrast to the backgrounds, but other times it's just eyes eyes eyes holy shit those eyes are pretty. I want them to bring back the cactus from the first episode though.

Kekkai Sensen: So fucking stylish. Praise be to the Kyousougiga Director. This isn't really a plot-driven show but it's still a notch above other episodics because it's really sharp. It's just bleeding talent all over. It also allocates its budget really well. Praise be to the Evangelion Key Animation guy. Sorely missed ITT.

Ore Monogatari!: There's a really good sense of comedy here. It lacks a hook (though it sort of dropped one in the last episode, sort of?) but once I actually decide to watch an episode I never regret it. The characters are lovely.

I'm saving Fate/Stay Night for when it's finished so I can marathon it.

Seasonal Seasonal Stuff:

Shokugeki no Souma:
There's nothing special about this Shounen Jump Shounen but it's being adapted really well. Generally makes 25 minutes go by very very fast.

Nisekoi Colon: There's nothing special about this Shounen Jump Shounen-- I mean, uh, I didn't watch the first season, but I watched a bunch of Youtube videos so I think I'm good. It's a game of roulette if the episode is about one of the crappy characters (hello Tsugumi) or any of Chitoge / Onodera / Marika, and in that case SHAFT makes it just appealing enough that I don't regret watching.

Arslan Senki: Dropped after the third episode. There's nothing bad about it, I just hate LINDEN FILMS. Also convincing myself I'd be better off reading the novel even though I know I won't read it. I don't like seeing good source material getting the Parasyte treatment.

Ninja Slayer: One of my favorite parts of the week is realizing a new Ninja Slayer is out then immediately slurring "NINNNNJAA SLAAAYYYERRRRR" like a retard. It's not actually bad, but, yeah. Half the people watching it are Buddha Fuck and the other half are waiting for this character to show up, though she probably never will!

Punchline: I've seen, I think... the second episode and half of the fourth episode? I realize it's not a bad show but I can't bring myself to watch it, it's too otaku-quirky.

Things I've Picked Up on the Side:

FLCL is great.

Kare Kano's first few episodes are great.

Youtube has spoiled Serial Experiments Lain for me so I couldn't watch more than one episode. Fuck.

Chihayafuru is really neat but for some reason I stopped watching after the first two episodes.

I finally finished Cowboy Bebop Ep5 after leaving it hanging for like half a year.

And I'll finish Mushishi Zoku Shou Zoku Shou eventually. I keep forgetting I still have some left.

Hey everyone! I'm new to this thread, I just discovered it this thread! I wish i've discovered it earlier, well I'm really excited for Digimon Adventure Tri! I loved digimon season 1-4, I kinda like 5 but anything after that kind of suck. So i'm really looking forward to this! I'm hoping they'll make it as good as season 1-4. I'm really liking the animation of the character and digimons, they look so cool! I'm really excited for this to come out, but I'm kind of sad that Digimon Adventure Tri is a 6 part film instead of a brand new season :(
