Uxie (QC 0/3)

Overview
########
  • With excellent Defense and Special Defense, combined with good speed and an even better movepool, Uxie is the definition of an excellent wall.
  • One of Uxie's most notable traits is the ability to check most Fighting-types, bar Scrafty.
  • She is a very versatile defensive threat that should not be underestimated, and she can notably run many viable sets.
  • Most notably, she has a combination of Heal Bell, Knock Off, and Stealth Rock.
  • However, no Pokemon is without its flaws. Uxie's biggest flaws are a combination of having underwhelming HP and no reliable recovery.
  • Uxie's offenses are nothing to write home about either, which is a shame since she also has a wide offensive movepool.
  • Finally, one of her weaknesses, Dark, is a very common type in the RU metagame, especially in the form of Knock Off.

Utility
########
name: Utility
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: U-Turn/Knock Off
move 3: Thunder Wave
move 4: Dazzling Gleam/Psychic
ability: Levitate
item: Leftovers
evs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpDef
nature: Relaxed

Moves
========

  • Stealth Rock is an excellent hazard, and the main move of the set.
  • It can chip away at many Pokemon, which can help many sweepers.
  • U-Turn gives Uxie a switch while chipping away at foes.
  • Alternatively, Knock Off can remove items, bar Mega Stones, to cripple some Pokemon like Fletchinder.
  • Thunder Wave can spread paralysis and severely cripple fast sweepers, bar Electric- and Ground- types.
  • Dazzling Gleam is most recommended for the fourth slot, as it hits Scrafty, a huge threat in RU, for 4x effectiveness.
  • Psychic can also be used for a fairly powerful STAB.

Set Details
========

  • The EVs are made so Uxie can take as many physical hits as possible, namely from moves like Knock Off.
  • However, you can change the nature and EVs to Sassy and 252 HP/252 SpDef/4 Def so she take special hits instead.
  • Leftovers will give Uxie a minor form of recovery.
  • Levitate, Uxie's only ability, gives it a neat immunity to not only Ground- type attacks, but also many hazards like Spikes and Sticky Web.

Usage Tips
========

  • This set mainly functions as a lead, with her ability to set up Stealth Rocks, spread paralysis, and U-Turn into a teammate.
  • Thunder Wave should primarily be used on faster, hard-hitting sweepers such as Delphox.
  • Finally, due to having no reliable recovery, she is easily worn down, so it is recommended that you only switch in when truly necessary.

Team Options
========

  • Hazard setters with no access to Stealth Rock, namely Qwilfish, appreciate the additional hazards, as they can grant more support to the team.
  • Spinblockers, like Jellicent, are also good teammates with Uxie.
  • Wish users, like Alomomola, is much appreciated from Uxie for a recovery.
  • Finally, sweepers such as Cobalion and Scrafty appreciate the support given from Uxie.

Dual Screens Support
########
name: Dual Screens Support
move 1: Light Screen
move 2: Reflect
move 3: U-Turn/Dazzling Gleam
move 4: Stealth Rock/U-Turn/Memento
ability: Levitate
item: Light Clay
evs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpDef
nature: Bold/Impish

Moves
========

  • Light Screen and Reflect supply free Special Defense and Defense boosts to your team for 8 turns.
  • U-Turn supplies Uxie with a switch while doing a bit of damage.
  • Dazzling Gleam can hit Dark- types, Uxie's main enemy, for super effective damage. Stealth Rock is an option that can supply chip damage to the opposing team, especially those with Rock-weak Pokemon.
  • Memento not only lowers the Attack and Special Attack stats of the opposing Pokemon, it can also prevent the hazards from being cleared.

Set Details
========

  • The EVs in HP and Defense allow Uxie to take as many physical hits as possible.
  • The Bold Nature amplifies the already amazing Defense.
  • Light Clay extends the amount of turns the screens are up from 5 to 8.

Usage Tips
========

  • For the love of all things Dual Screens, it is recommended you use this set early on, or as a lead. The main reason is so Uxie won't have to worry about Knock Off as much, as getting rid of the Light Clay reduces Light Screen and Reflect's usefulness.
  • If Uxie is running Stealth Rock, it is recommended to use the screens first, as it will lower the damage Uxie takes while setting up so she isn't at as much risk of being KO'd.
  • If the opponent has a Defog user up, such as Flygon, then use Memento to stop it from removing your hazards.

Team Options
========

  • Faster sweepers, namely Cobalion, Drapion, and Scrafty, enjoy the hazards and screens Uxie puts up, as it allows them to take more hits, and KO opponents faster.
  • Uxie appreciates Pokemon that can utilize large Wishes such as Mega Audino and Alomomola, as she has no other method of reliable recovery.
  • In the case Uxie is not running Stealth Rocks, Pokemon like Registeel are good partners with Uxie. Finally, other hazard setters such as Qwilfish enjoy Stealth Rocks, and can set up more hazards, therefore supporting the team more.

Other Options
########

  • Toxic can be used over Thunder Wave, as it can quickly wear down the opponent. However, it is primarily outclassed as a spreader of Toxic, due to the fact that a large amount of Pokemon are able to learn the move, and it doesn't supply a speed drop.
  • Heal Bell is an excellent option that can heal Uxie's whole team of their statuses, but she often has a hard time fitting it on a set.
  • Foul Play is a good check against physically offensive setup sweepers who try to set up on Uxie.
  • A ChestoRest or RestTalk set can be used, but those sets are mostly outclassed.
  • Uxie can run a Colbur berry to reduce the damage from Dark- types, but that is outclassed for the most part by other items, namely Leftovers.
  • Yawn is a crippling status that can immobilize foes with sleep, but it takes a turn to activate.
  • Uxie can also run a Trick set with Choice items.
  • Finally, she can use an offensive set with either Life Orb or an aftermentioned Choice item, but those are mostly outclassed by other offensive Psychics such as Delphox.

Checks & Counters
########
  • **Dark Types**: Dark types are Uxie's #1 enemy, despite disliking Dazzling Gleam. Not only are they immune to Psychic, they also can make quick work of her with STAB moves, and a majority have access to Knock Off. Houndoom and Scrafty get special mentions, as Houndoom can easily set up on Uxie with Nasty Plot and OHKO her with Dark Pulse, and Scrafty can cripple Uxie with Knock Off by taking away most of her health, or even OHKOing her.
  • **Taunt**: Fast Taunt users such as Banette completely cripple Uxie, especially considering it's sub-par offenses, and easily makes her vulnerable. However, this can easily be remedied via switching or U-Turn.
  • **Status**: Unless Uxie runs Heal Bell, Uxie struggles with status due to not having a reliable recovery, as she is easily worn down. She especially hates Toxic, due to slowly building up more damage each turn.

I'm not part of QC, but there's some things that I picked up that are wrong with this. First of all, the format is wrong (here's the new format http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/the-new-analysis-formatting-guide.3537802/), stats should not be listed in the overview, Whimsicott is UU so remove that, and each section is very lackluster with information; in particular each section for the second set. Dazzling Gleam should also be on either set as Scrafty is a huge threat right now. Give some better examples of setup sweepers that go well with Uxie, such as Cobalion and Scrafty which are both huge threats right now. IMO Colbur Berry should get a mention somewhere on the first set, because along with Dazzling Gleam Uxie can be a one-time check to Scrafty.

I added some major fixings to the analysis. Thank you.

Ok, Uxie is a mon I have quite a bit of experience with in the current meta, so here goes:

[Overview]
- Note Levitate for it granting Uxie immunity from Spikes, which can be huge for a defensive mon with no reliable recovery

[Utility]
- Switch Psychic and Dazzling Gleam. Gleam is weak as shit outside of hitting Scrafty. Doesn't even break Cobalion's Subs, which is something Psychic does reliably
- I would honestly run Bold with 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe. This lets Uxie outpace Exploud and either push extra damage onto it or cripple it with T-Wave before going down.
- I'd slash Yawn with T-Wave, but at least put it in Moves. Yawn + U-turn is literally a free setup chance for a setup sweeper.
- Change Sassy to Careful and use the EV spread I alluded to above when mentioning a SpDef spread
- Mention Relaxed / Sassy as options for teams that don't need Uxie to outspeed Exploud, Emboar, etc.
- In Usage Tips, note that Uxie's mixed bulk let's it be a one-time sponge to virtually any non-super effective attack in the tier
- Ok, Aromatisse is literally a godsend for Uxie. Checks the only Fighting-type Uxie can't (Scrafty) is usually a safer initial response to them anyway, and has Wish + Aromatherapy in one.
- Mention some wallbreakers that appreciate the Speed control vs. offense. Hitmonlee, Gallade, Exploud, and Clawitzer are solid options here
- Switch-ins for Dark and Bug moves. Emboar is ideal as it's a slower wallbreaker and 4x resists Bug. Others include Aromatisse, Cobalion, and Togetic.

[Dual Screens Support]
- I would honestly just use a 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe Timid spread. You ideally want to get Screens up before taking hits, not after.
- Remove Dazzling Gleam. Dual Screens Uxie shouldn't be staying in to deal damage at all. Slash Memento with U-turn instead as both serve a similar purpose.
- Remove U-turn and Memento from slot 4. You should really only be using one or the other
- Mention Yawn in moves. Same reason as the Utility set. Free setup alongside U-turn / Memento, especially behind Screens
- In Moves, state why it should be used over Meowstic-M, the other main Dual Screener (better bulk, access to U-turn, Memento, Rocks, etc.)
- Change up Set Details to reflect the Timid spread. Keep mentions of Bold spread.
- Remove the Flygon tidbit in Usage Tips. It's outspeeding you, so you can't stop it. You could replace Flygon with other Defoggers (Golbat, Togetic, Shiftry, etc.) but Flygon fucks you no matter what as long as it's max Speed. (almost all are)
- Drop mentions of Wish users. Dual Screens Uxie should always be on offensive-minded teams. The only Wish user worth noting is Jolteon since it maintains offensive momentum
- Mention more aggressive Rocks users. Shit like Cobalion, Druddigon, and Mega Camerupt can better utilize Dual Screens while still getting up Rocks if Uxie somehow isn't running it
- Slower wallbreakers do more to offense with Screens protection. Clawitzer, Exploud, and Emboar are solid examples
- Bring something to beat Flygon and Noivern. They literally makes this set useless. Mega Glalie, HP Ice Jolteon, and even a Noivern of your own can be helpful here

[Other Options]
- SubCM, but I'll talk more about this in a moment
- Remove Yawn as it should at worst be in the Moves section of both sets
- Uxie is bad at using Toxic because Steels don't fear shit from it with the lone exception being Cobalion.
- I wouldn't say Colbur Berry is outclassed. It might be worth mentioning as an option for the Utility set in Set Details, but I'll let the rest of QC decide that one
- Uxie's offenses are kind of ass without Calm Mind in general, so remove the last point about it being able to use Life Orb.

[Checks and Counters]
- Make special note that Houndoom is even neutral to Dazzling Gleam, but make sure to state faster Dark-types (like Houndoom) need to be careful of stray T-Waves
- Drapion is probably the best Taunt user to mention. The only faster Taunt user, Cobalion, (Banette needs to be mega evolved to outspeed Uxie with Taunt) generally loses to Uxie. Qwilfish auto-loses as long as Uxie has Psychic and there aren't many other common Taunt users. So, note that it's a hinderance, but most common Taunt users are either slower than Uxie, (Drapion) lose to Uxie most of the time (Cobalion) or both (Qwilfish)
- Escavalier? Hello? That thing destroys Uxie and doesn't even care about T-Wave
- Pursuit kinda sucks. Drapion, Houndoom, and Spiritomb are your key enemies here.
- Lum Berry Durant sets up on Uxie easily
- Steels in general (minus Cobalion) don't fear a lot from Uxie at all. They may not be able to do a ton back, but most can at least set up hazards and / or cripple Uxie
- Trick users ruin any Uxie. Medicham is probably the most notable since Uxie is a common response to it

Now for SubCM. It was a really fucking good set for Uxie in BW, and with Cresselia gone, Uxie has a chance to fill that role yet again. While I have yet to be able to test the set yet, I do believe it's worthy enough to at least mess around with to see if it's viable enough for a full set. (it's OO at worst imo) Here's kind of what I was thinking:

Uxie @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Psychic / Psyshock
- Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power Fire

Basically, the idea is to come in on a passive Pokemon that likely can only inflict status on Uxie to threaten it (think shit like mola, zong, etc.) or is unable to break through Uxie normally (Cobalion, Medicham, choice-locked Flygon, etc.) and set up a Sub. Go for a CM boost or two and then sweep. Psychic is stronger overall, but Psyshock can help with possible Calm Mind wars. Dazzling Gleam bones Dark-types, most notably, Spiritomb and Scrafty. Gleam also hits Noivern, which can still hit you from behind a Sub. If these are covered, HP Fire is nice for Steels, namely Escavalier, Durant, and Bronzong. Be wary that Psychic + Fire coverage auto-loses to Houndoom, so only run HP Fire if you have reliable ways to beat Doom and need Uxie to get around Steels. Not sure on the most optimal spread, but max Speed is almost mandatory with Houndoom and Drapion around. If using HP Fire, obviously drop to 220 since the imperfect Speed IV required makes going max Speed useless. 220 Speed still lets Uxie outspeed Meloetta, another mon that can hit you from behind a Sub, with the imperfect Speed IV factored in. Hazard users are nice to wear down the opposing team. Qwilfish, Cobalion, Mega Steelix, and Druddigon can do this reliably. As far as key threats, it depends on your coverage move. Without HP Fire, a way to beat most Steels is nice. Stuff like Scrafty, Hitmonlee, and Cobalion are cool here. Without Dazzling Gleam, Uxie is dead meat vs. Houndoom and most other Darks. Cobalion beats most Darks with the exception of Houndoom, which can be handled more reliably by the likes of Aromatisse and Alomomola, both of which can provide Wish Support to help give Uxie a 2nd shot at sweeping if it gets forced out by something. Again, idk if this is fully viable. At the very least, Cresselia is gone and I believe it's worth exploring just to see.

Viridi go ahead and make these changes and test the SubCM set for viability (unless the rest of QC says otherwise, in which case, don't lol)

Not QC or anything but I found 2 doublade mentions which I bolded. Remove them as doublade moved up.
