LuCy'S cAnDy (Cottonee) (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Prankster
Level: 5
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 116 Def / 196 SpD / 148 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Memento
- Stun Spore
- Tailwind
- filler

OO Include: Encore / Taunt / Knock Off

s/o to mad0ka for 12 battles of stun spore lead + tailwind leads

This mon imo is the best fucking support mon in the meta. Look at all the fucking shit it can do!

Memento lets so many mons set up for free and gets them all in safely.
Stun Spore helps neuter problamatic leads and sweepers who decide to come in when this isnt dead
Tailwind is fantastic and lets slower mons you have outspeed the faster mons. Helps versus Sun Tang and enemy Sneas.

I use KO becuase i love removing items from enemies either nerfing swirlix's speed boost or taking bj off of mag on the switch

Encore locks up opponent for a free turn. VERY NEEDED
Taunt stops SR leads and boosting mons like Swirlix. VERY NEEDED.

Use what you want but please please please use this mon if you need a support mon. It's so fucking good.

The EVs are weird because i want some bulk that i dont really need bc im going to sac myself either way.

onto the next one.

having trouble with Sneasel?
scared of Swirlix?
Need someone to absorb one Knock Off and obliterate something back?

well here's your answer!

s/o to Cheir for this one.

Excalipoor (Honedge) (M) @ Colbur Berry
Ability: No Guard
Level: 5
EVs: 196 Atk / 116 Def / 140 SpD / 52 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Sword
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Shadow Sneak

Weakness berries are very great in this meta since the games are oft so short, and item clause exists, freeing up better items for "better mons". Nonetheless, Honedge is able to preform admirably with a Colbur berry.

Sacred Sword obliterates Sneasel and other Darks / Rocks
Iron Head is STAB 1 that handles Swirlix
Rock Slide dismantles Birds
Sneak is STAB 2 and is our prio.

116 Def + 140 SpD are needed to survive a bunch of things in this meta. I'll show in the calcs below

236 Atk Life Orb Sneasel Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 116 Def Colbur Berry Honedge: 16-19 (76.1 - 90.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
204 SpA Swirlix Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 140 SpD Honedge: 18-22 (85.7 - 104.7%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
196 Atk Scyther Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 116 Def Colbur Berry Honedge: 8-10 (38 - 47.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
196 Atk Life Orb Scyther Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 116 Def Colbur Berry Honedge: 10-13 (47.6 - 61.9%) -- 90.2% chance to 2HKO
196 Atk Choice Band Scyther Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 116 Def Colbur Berry Honedge: 11-14 (52.3 - 66.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

take note that all three are ohko'd by sacred sword (sneasel) iron head (swirlix) and rock slide (scyther)

oh one more thing

196+ Atk Honedge Iron Head vs. +3 20 HP / 68 Def Swirlix: 12-14 (52.1 - 60.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
ur not safe lol

okay last but not least a hazard mon so we can get some shit on the field

KiBa's TeXmEx RiCe (Dwebble) (M) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Sturdy
Level: 5
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 236 Atk / 236 Spe
Naive Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Hidden Power [Poison]
- Rock Blast / Counter
- Knock Off

s/o to Cheek Pouch bc he's the one who broke me into using SR

SR is SR, weakens so much fucking shit, it's so scary.
HP Poison is soley here for lead Cottonee, it 2hkos max hp / spd cottonee which is not bad and since most cotton are sash, this works out perfectly.
Rock Blast is STAB and multihit moves are great as well for breaking mons open. Counter is here for a free KO at something that obliterates your health to sturdy levels of nothingness.
KO is KO. remove item nerf bitch who is out /endrant

Custap is here to breathe new life into you and let you make one last ditch effort for the team. A worthy item for a worthy mon.

anywho if i come across more shit i'll post. even tho the meta is kinda cancerous with all the swag and evasion spam, without it, it's really hype. there's a lot of thought that has to be put into your plays because things dont last long.

pls have fun with these sets and thank the people i made s/o to bc they helped me build.

So for people who have trouble partaking in these competitions because they don't have time to breed and things, some of us Wifi people have got together to breed Pokemon for the competition and we are giving them away so we can encourage as many people as possible to take part! We don't have everything and we're still adding some stuff, but hopefully we can help people out as much as possible. Also, we bred them all shiny so you can battle stylishly too.

EVs for level five work differently. I'm too lazy to link it but we have guides for that in the Little Cup forums!

-5 76 / 156 / 236 EVs

There's no point trying to hit Eviolite numbers on Def/SpD, so out of interest I tried 156 HP + 56 Def + 60 SpD instead; it reduced Swirlix to a 2HKO but it was worse against LO Scyther who now guarantees a 2HKO.

Im really accustomed to hitting Eviolite numbers so apoligies.

EDIT

IF your EVs takes more damage and fails to OHKO Swirlix, why are you pointing out that i dont need to hit Evio numbers?

Sorry if my post was confusing; I had assumed you chose the EVs based on Eviolite numbers and I just wanted to point out that Swirlix can't OHKO 156 HP + 60 SpD Honedge.

I EV based on Eviolite numbers because i am used to doing so. Yet my calcs were built on the fact that i could still OHKO Swirlix and still have enough bulk to take hits.

Huh. Wish I had found this thread earlier.

I've been compiling and posting usage stats for our LC PGL ladder:

http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/pgl-stats.3537877/
http://www.smogon.com/stats/2015-05

Probably still time for some last-minute changes for those competing...

As I state in the other thread, if you're looking for check & counter data, go to the unweighted (-0.txt) moveset stats. For usage (total usage, move usage, item usage...), the 1630-baseline stats are probably the best.

I finished my first day of battling yesterday. I went 12-3 on the day, a lot better than I thought I would have. I have not battled since last year and have not done a little cup format battle in even longer.

Some of the things I was looking for that did not pan out like I thought it would.

The only Swirlix I faced I don't think the user had much experience with him. I got a quick Fake Out and then Knock Off, not much damage but it stopped him from healing after his Belly Drum.

I did not have much trouble with a few Scyther I faced, although one of my losses came from a lead Scyther, for some reason I tried to Scald Scyther rather than just Volt Switch. Poor judgement on my part.

Sneasel was a complete beast so far. Although I carry one myself. I kept losing the speed tie, but still manage to win out that battle.

My team, although I did not get to practice with Sneasel or Onix, did pretty well in testing. In testing I was using Anorith instead of Onix and Gastly instead of Sneasel.

I have not even used Ponyta or Amaura yet in battle. Now that I think of it I should have went with Choice Specs over Icy Rock on my Amaura, a mistake from when I was playing around with a friend to see how things worked.

Damn it I put the wrong Ponyta in the battle box. I did not add Wild Charge like I had planned. Told you it has been awhile since I battled.

I used Hypnosis because the PGL LC testing showed that other Ponyta were running Flash Fire, 62.8% by the stats shown here.

WoW is generally better than Hypnosis because it lets Ponyta cripple the physical attackers that run rampant through the tier. Sleep is nice, but it's better left to Yanma and other things that aren't coming to mind at the moment.

Yeah I copied Sweep's Ponyta and he said,

Sweep said:
I would never ladder with Hypnosis as it's too inconsistent, but vs. a player like Absdaddy I felt the risk was definitely worth it and could carry a high reward.
I felt in a 3vs3 that I would need to risk a possible meeting with Ponyta against anything with Ground or Water, so the risk in putting one to sleep was worth it to me.

I have not used Ponyta in the PGL LC yet, but now that I see I forgot to put Wild Charge on my move-set, it is going to be hard for me to pull him off the bench. I cannot believe I made that mistake. I made 2 Ponyta, one for me and one for a friend, and I thought for sure I put Wild Charge on both since he has been clearing Water types with Wild Charge.

Late night breeding and training is my excuse. haha

I am really out of my depth here when it comes to compiling a Little Cup team but would love to this out this tournament. Remember when I used to play "Little Cup" on the first pokemon stadium vs my best friend, mostly lost cause my favorite was Charmander and his was Squirtle :E

If someone feel like they got a solid team ready for this tournament that they don't mind sharing, please inform me and I could clone it.

Edit: Darn it all, thought it started next weekend :'(

If you've registered on the PGL then you can still play! You can join in at any stage during the competition. I usually wait until Sunday to play all my games actually coz I'm super busy on Friday/Saturdays anyway.

Of course if you haven't registered....

Went 14-1 this first day. Got smashed by a very well trained Cranidos, which mastered the use of the item Quick Claw and knew how to burn with Fire Punch.

I finished my first 8 battles with 8-0, and to my surprise I encountered two Meowth! Max speed 19, Normal gem, STAB tecnichian fake out + Covet (stole my berry juice...) - it definitly has some potential.

Went 14-1 this first day. Got smashed by a very well trained Cranidos, which mastered the use of the item Quick Claw and knew how to burn with Fire Punch.
Day 1 trikes again... I also faced a really good opponent. After dodging a will-o-wisp, and following up with a crit through my cotton guard, for some reason he decided to give me the win by not critting twice.

My 2nd day sucked. 7-8. Swirlix, Gligar, and Meditite did me in.

I did not think Gligar would be that big of a problem with 2 Ice Pokémon on my team. Every Swirlix I faced today was a sp.atk version.

Disappointed in 19 and 11 record after 2 days.

OK day 1 was 8-2 for me,
I got haxed out game 5, seriously 3 Icicile crash misses then a crit on swillix,
Game 7 I went up against a Guy with a rating of 1760 when my was ~1550 so I got him down to one 1-0 but his sneasel had Power Up Punch when mine lacked a Fighting move,
Game 5: VCXG-WWWW-WW22-UWEW
Game 7: 7S5W-WWWW-WW22-UWCK
I also saved my first game cause why not: USZW-WWWW-WW22-UWL9

EDIT: I know there are 15 battles per day I just got home late I'll do 20 tomorrow

There are a few things I'm really scared of encountering in this competition: Swirlix - especially the Cotton Guard one since I can't pick it off with Fletchling, and Chinchou - because there are no great Grass-types and they're all easily beaten by Sneasel / Fletchling, Scyther etc. anyway... My pool of available Pokemon is pretty much limited to what I could grab done the shiny giveaway we did, which is ok since the ones I got are all viable, but I'm having trouble putting together the best team, and just find myself dying to Swirlix. Fairy STAB and Flamethrower for coverage is pretty great, and it becomes bulky af with Cotton Guard + Calm Mind + Berry Juice...

I really wanna use Magnemite since it's one of my favourites, and Berry Juice + Sturdy is cool and all, but I just can't find a spot for it on my team at all. I'm pretty tempted to just run a few weird sets like Rocky Helmet Snivy and just have some fun... This isn't a bad meta at all by any means, but it's more over-centralising than the Fairy Face Off where Mawile ran rampant, at least specs Klefki there haha

My issue with Swirlix is that I have no teammate that has a Poison attack and my Onix has my only Steel type, which every Swirlix avoided.

Cranidos was pretty beastly also, the 2 I faced anyway.
