Putting this on hold till the suspect is over

bzzzt
[OVERVIEW]
  • Analytic, godly power, absolutely destroys things on switches, strongest electric type in the tier
  • good typing allowing it to switch into various attacks as well as being good offensively
  • It can play a number of roles in the metagame from Choice Specs wallbreaking to revenge killing with a scarf
  • Is easy to put onto teams as it provides momentum / resistances
  • Hard counters like Lanturn and Stunfisk exist and the meta is inflated with them

[SET]
name: Specs
move 1: Volt Switch
move 2: Thunderbolt
move 3: Flash Cannon
move 4: Hidden Power Ground
item: Choice Specs

Moves
========
  • volt switch
  • tbolt
  • flash cannon
  • hp ground

Set Details
========
  • specs
  • standard spread
  • analytic

Usage Tips
========
  • click volt switch unless you see lanturn / ground type
  • Magneton gets lots of free switches due to its immunities and resistances, Magneton can be a free switch in on things like Fletchinder as well as Garbodor. However be wary of coverage moves such as Drain Punch or Overheat.
  • If the opponent has a ground type that isn't weak to HP Ground locking yourself into Flash Cannon is the safest play, for instance offensive Torterra is 2HKOd by Flash Cannon on the switch.
  • Luring in Ground-types to give you the ability to Volt Switch is priority number one, if the opponent doesn't have a way to block Volt Switch, bringing in Magneton against as many slower Pokemon as possible is a good way to get off big damage / force switches.

Team Options
========
  • stuff to lure in ground types
  • volt turn cores
  • fire checks
  • hazard support is nice as magneton causes a lot of switches

[SET]

Checks and Counters
===================

**Lanturn / Stunfisk**: Immune to Volt Switch and resist Flash Cannon as well as taking HP Ground relatively well.

**Electric Immunity**: Pokemon like Electivire and Zebstrika can't switch in on an hp ground but are immune to electric type attacks and resist flash cannon.

**Ground-types**: Stops Volt Switch, usually takes a lot from Flash Cannon.

**Offensive Pressure**: Stuff like Pyroar or Tauros

Thoughts on eviolite getting its own moveset? Its probably good enough

Also Magnet Pull is p good, but no where near as good as analytic. oo matierial or n?

eviolite isn't much different than either of the standard sets, you could just eat more hits. magnet pull only hits other magnets so it's kinda pointless

The only other steels in NU are klink, mawile, and maybe probo but I guess you could write it. Probo gets epower and can probably live HP ground so it's not gonna comfortably check probo. Also, probo gets volt and sometimes runs balloon, although the usage is | Air Balloon 7.104% | from NU 1630 (PU 1630 usage shows | Air Balloon 32.235% |). Another thing to consider is that it gets volt switch so it's not really trapped. I guess you could say the same for mawile with BP but that's not as common at | Baton Pass 20.247% | (NU 1630).

I guess at this point I'm not really making an argument for whether or not you should write it, but just giving you some info and you can make your decision from that.

You'd want to mention how obscenely strong it is in the Overview; Analytic alone doesn't tell the whole story (Watchog LOL).

Hidden Power Grass can be slashed after HP Ground on all of the sets. While hitting other Magnetons is more important overall, Quagsire can be a very annoying and persistent obstacle due to Recover, compounded by the fact that even Specs Magneton cannot 2HKO it in the switch factoring in Analytic on the first hit (a small chance to 2HKO exists if SR is on the field though). Plus it doesn't lose out on coverage against Lanturn and Stunfisk.

Scarf Magnet should probably exclusively be Timid; no reason to miss out on threats like Sneasel, Floatzel, and Swellow (even Guts Facade 2HKOes).

Yeah Evio should get a set, I think it's outright better than Scarf

CUSTAP in OO

Go finish this nerd

mention Sturdy in Set Details for both Specs and Scarf. you don't need Custap Berry to use Sturdy well; it plays like Sturdy Sawk.

mention HP Fire somewhere specifically to trap Ferroseed, especially since Ferroseed is a good switch-in to Magneton without HP Fire. probably throw it in Set Details for Eviolite because I can't imagine using any of its other sets to trap Ferroseed.

imo de-slash Timid on Scarf. only relevant thing it outruns with it is Swellow iirc. valid enough to throw into Set Details but not good enough for a slash I don't think.

And Floatzel, which owns Magneton with Focus Blast otherwise.

Where the HP Grass slash at, Mont? You can also be more upfront about its power in the Overview; it's pretty much the strongest Electric-type in the tier (especially with Analytic).

HP Ground is literally for opposing Magnetons also; other Electrics simply cannot recover from Magneton's assaults like Quag can.
Fuk this thing anyway ban the shit out of it
