People have stopped burying people in this abandoned graveyard for centuries, but there is still an eerie aura all over the place. The grass looks more grey than green (despite this not affecting Grass-type moves at all), and most Pokemon and people avoid the place instinctively. Some trainers however still visit this place to strengthen the link with their Pokemon, especially Ghost-type ones. A still lake formed in a fissure in the ground, however the dark water makes it impossible to see what lies in its depths

The odd aura of this graveyard has several effects in battle:
  • Focus Blast has 100% accuracy, and the base power of Aura Sphere and Hidden Power is raised by (2). It is very easy to focus oneself's soul in this place.
  • Will-O-Wisp has 100% accuracy. There are always wisps floating around to provide decent enough fodder for this wicked spell.
  • Pain Split has its base energy cost reduced by (2), and all draining attacks are empowered as if the Pokemon were holding Big Root, but without incurring the extra energy cost (this effect doesn't stack with Big Root itself). Life energies are easier to drain and consume in this place.
  • All Pokemon's max HP are reduced to 90. The aura of sorrow which permeates this place withers the strength and the resolve of all the Pokemon battling in its surroundings - even Ghost-types.
  • There are some leftover scrap parts, scattered around the arena. Rotom can tap into them, raising its Special Attack and Special Defense by 1 rank as long as it stays in its original form (without any appliance).

Forewarn

Well after both the ghosts stand around for a while they can now finally get to some fighting. Shar does as you would expect a Chandelure to and just blasts away with Fire at the partially Grass type sitting across from her. Of course these attacks get a little less fearsome when the well known ASB Sketch of Necturna's Soak removes her STAB from these attacks. Both players spend most of this round conserving losses while being as attacking as possible thanks to an Enigma Berry and well timed Horn Leech respectively. Don't you Gym Leader's just love it when challengers use your arena effects against you? At least Shar is able to get a lucky crit for the final Fire Blast and more or less mitigate the removal of her STAB for the round. Unfortunately it's a little hard to mitigate the massive Power Whip Elise is able to unleash on the now rather watery chandelier. zarator did come out marginally on top in the round but it cost an entire Enigma Berry, meanwhile Elise is free to spend an entire round Horn Leeching...

zarator uses the second to order advantage as best he can but unfortunately a Soaked Chandelure is just not a match for the silly Necturna. Knowing full well that Shar was likely dead meat if left in zarator opts instead to swap for an old favourite. Nary a Ghost Gym match has gone by without Cyric by the leader's side and he usually performs admirably. waterwarrior however, thought he had a plan to deal with Cyric. He thought zarator had neglected one important move that would allow him to not only out damage for the round, not only ensure he would be forced to order first in a round he did not care about but also remove Gengar's item in the process. This all seemed like a sound, near game changing plan. That was of course until you realise that not only does Elise Deauxnim not know the move Endure, Necturna can't even learn it! So basically what resulted was Cyrid dispatching the poor Necturna without taking a scratch in return. It's not a complete disaster for the challenger but it certainly puts him behind the 8 ball (and makes him look like a complete dick in the process).

Erm Struggle dealt 10 DMG, so Gengar has 80 HP.

But oh god the choke was just beyond real I basically just lost. Went from dealing almost 70 DMG to... 10.

Togekiss is the simultaneously beloved and hated Pokemon we know today in ASB thanks in a large part due to its abilities. This is even more so in Gen 6 with the advent of auto crit Scope Lens Togekiss. In this arena Togekiss begins at a slight disadvantage since you are forced to give up one of its major abilities. Unfortunately this disadvantage becomes even more stark when the ability you do decide to keep is nullified before your Pokemon even makes a move. Cyric immediately nueters Unohana's offensive pressure with an easy Knock Off and the rest of the round is spent playing basically a "best of Gengar" reel to swing yet more momentum in zarator's favour. Did I mention Gengar hasn't even used its super effective STAB yet?

Well Unohana is able to Roost off some damage and stave off death for this round. A Future Sight was even able to guarantee some decent damage on the pesky Gengar. But unfortunately that Super Effective STAB I mentioned last round is taking a pretty huge toll on the poor Togekiss. And not to be a downer or anything but I don't see the predictable Weavile vs Revenankh match up working out any better in the challenger's favour..
